  1. On Amy's fertility - this could be tied to how they are going to be written out.
  2. The Special Weapons Dalek was among those Rory found in the Asylum. However it never "woke up".

The iDaleks (actually known as Paradigm Daleks) where all in the dalek parliament scene, although some have had their colour tweaked, most notably the red drones, which are darker and more metallic.

I was wondering if the white "Supreme" dalek on the podium was actually an empty case belonging to the "Prime Minister".
  3. I thought it suffered from too much "action" and not enough actual plot happening. And what plot it did have was a bit incoherent.

Oh yeah, lets shoe-horn in some zombie/dalek hybrids. Because you can never have too many zombies or daleks.
  4. I don't think I will bother with another MMO unless it has these things:

    1) Little or no emphasis on PvP
    2) High level of build customisation
    3) Plenty of support for solo play
    4) A setting that isn't genericfantasyland or realworldpostapoclypsevampirenonsense

Mechanically, Rift is at the top, but that fails by being Genericfantasyland. TOR has the best setting, but fails by being a SoulessWoWclone.

But its the community I will miss, and I can't see anything else that would attract the same kind of people

I see no evidence of that.

Energy Melee and War Axe are the only sets that has been completely conceptually replaced by a new powerset. Nether have been looked at for a considerable time.

Ice Melee is conceptually unique - it's far more important to look at that, but that set hasn't been touched for ages either.

More personally, I think it is bad form in any game to let anything that remains a valid choice for new characters to be obsolete. There is no big red label on EM that says "DEPRECATED" letting players know they shouldn't choose it. And they should not be saddled with an inferior experience because they chose it without such a warning. This applies not just to new players (who should be a meaningful focus in a post-Freedom world), but to existing players who may not live and breathe forum discussions on what powersets rank where.
If EM was actually as bad as some people make it out to be, then adding a DEPRECIATED note would be a good idea. But it's really nothing like that bad.

Why do you feel it matters, with all those alteratives, including a direct remake?

EM is deliberately obsolete. Time spent "fixing" it is development time wasted, and only likely to upset those people who have been playing it since long before KM was added.

I haven't used Arcanatime in my calculations, only canonical activation times. I also haven't looked at Stone Melee, which obviously looses out by having horrible DPE.

And I have no interest whatsoever in any version of EM other than the tanker version, for this simple reason: That's what I've got. As far as I'm concerned, there is no reason for anyone who hasn't already got an EM character to make one, it has been replaced by Kinetic Melee, which is conceptually identical. It only still exists in the game because it's not possible to grant people powerset respecs.

Thus, there really isn't much point in the devs spending much time on EM. All they have to do is make sure its not to bad for people who are currently playing it.

With Kinetic Melee, Electic Melee, and Radiation Melee in the pipline, there are more than enough energy based melee sets.

    This was my impression.

Obviously, increasing it's radius to match Footstomp would increase the control too, which isn't really where we want to go.

    Otherwise, nerf Footstomp.

When you agree to work for someone, you have to give your employer what they want. If you can't do that, you should walk away.

And "contract" is no excuse. Everyone knows what kind of shows Fox does, so if you don't want to do that you shouldn't sign the contract in the first place.

But we know Whedon can do sharp dialogue. Even a lowbrow show can be good if the script is sharp enough.
  10. Freezing Touch and Freezing Aura need damage scaling as full attack powers.

Greater Ice Sword needs it's recharge increased to 20 seconds and it's damage doubled.

Frost needs it's range upped to 15'.

    (End costs increased appropriately)

    Fixed.

    Agreed.

When the best ST damage attack chain for a set includes only one attack from that set, there is something wrong. (Super Strength Gloom->KO Blow->Burn is the best chain you can run for ST damage, assuming your secondary is Fire)
Technically, EM ET->Gloom->Burn is marginally better, but SS has a much easier time getting to the DMG cap.
  12. The Battalion are already among us! They are completely invulnerable, and can push even the strongest hero aside with ease.
  13. 1) Domination no longer buffs damage. Base damage was increased to compensate.

    2) Domination does not buff pets.

Yup, and for the same reason that ET is so powerful - Gloom's DPA is off-scale.

The highest theoretical tanker ST attack chain, given capped recharge and +DMG, is simply this:

(Barrage) -> ET -> Gloom -> ET -> Gloom etc

I don't use it for a very simple reason: Frosty Robot is pure hero and thus can't have Gloom.

Some numbers: Level 50 DPA for ET is 76, DPE 20(!); DPA for Gloom 71, DPE 7.34; DPA for KOB is 71, DPE 8.6.

TW Follow Through does better with a DPA of 108, and DPE 10.2, but you can't build an attack chain with just Follow Through and Gloom because of the Momentum mechanic.

Are TW and SS better than EM? IMO yes, but they are not a valid baseline. I would say EM, SS and TW are all broken, and would all get nerfed if the devs decided to look at them closely.

No, haven't tested, but as Titan Weapons is an AoE set, it's hardly comparable, and I know EM is way ahead of Staff, which has poor ST damage. I don't know about Street Justice - how does it compare to Fire?

Edit: Looking at the numbers, EM can still beat SJ, but you have to get recharge up pretty high. But the numbers don't tell you everything, I don't know how SJ is in practice, never tried it.

Edit: I certainly don't recall seeing any EM/* Brutes clocking top-flight scores in the Rikti Pylon time threads, unless they threw Lore pets at it or something.
I specified the Tanker version. I wouldn't touch EM on a Brute, the long activation times will hurt fury generation. (as will the weak AoE, indirectly). Brutes will notice the effect of the self damage too.

But how do you get around "eh what am I doing that for?". Alignment is part of your personality. You would either have to override personality, wiping out expertise, or be using some sort of hypnosis to fool the person. In which case you would have to step very carefully to avoid breaking the control.

i.e. would Hawkeye propose taking someone's eye under normal circumstances?
  18. I would say the problem with the Loki scene is Hawkeye seems to much "himself" for someone who is being mind controlled.

Shouldn't he just work for networks which support high concept though, like HBO or BBC4? Everyone knows Fox makes programs aimed at dummies, so it's a bit dumb to give them a show that requires a brain.

Numbers would obviously need tuning. To have Retaliation available reasonably frequently (I would say 3 mins, immune to +/-recharge) making the bonus damage +50% (crit damage, not +DMG) might be more appropriate. That would put Retaliation just ahead of SoA but behind Scrappers and Blasters.

I wouldn't want to go lower on base damage - that wouldn't be fun.

I have played EM on a tank since before PvP was even in the game.

ET was stupidly overpowered. Changing it had nothing to do with PvP.

ET is still overpowered now, with DPA and DPE far better than anything else. Just not as much as it was before. EM has the highest ST DPS of any tanker set, only getting more and more ahead as you add recharge, and drop any attacks that's aren't ET from your attack chain.

(The -health is a trivial penalty given the overkill survivability possessed by most tankers).

Thus, any changes to to EM are likely to involve further nerfs to ET, whatever happens to the rest of the set.

The only way I can see to avoid that is to do nothing which could add to ST DPS, and AoE must be left close to the bottom of the pile.

You could add utility to Stun by turning it into a 70' ranged attack, and adding a -Fly component. You could add splash 8' radius splash damage to Total Focus, as long as the ST damage remained unchanged.
  22. The Steve Rogers scene was great. But I can see why it didn't fit with the pacing of the rest of the movie.

    The Hill scene - dumb.

The Loki scene - clarifies his motivation, but no great loss.

What I suggested was an AT designed around not what role it was supposed to fill, so much as how it was intended to be played. As I was suggesting an AT with a mix of melee and ranged attacks, I had to come up with a way to encourage players to NOT just fire their ranged attacks point-blank, which is where my idea for debuffing ranged attack damage for using melee ones and vice versa came about as a means of getting players to switch between range and melee.

I don't know what role this AT would fill on a team, because what this AT is intended to do is be able to use a combination of melee and ranged powers in such a way that neither feels like you need to compromise the "best" playstyle to use. Blasters will usually avoid using their melee attacks more often than not and Scrappers will just shoot their ranged attacks in melee anyway. What team function the AT serves is, to me, secondary to how such an AT would even work at all, because my reason for suggesting any AT isn't because I feel a new role on a team can be fulfilled, but rather because I feel powersets can be combined in ways they haven't already.

Also, there's this. I don't disagree with you, but I still feel that combining powerset categories that no AT shares right now is "unique" enough in terms of experiences, provided it actually works. I know I tend to downplay how the game "plays" in favour of concept, but I'm one of the people who believe Brutes and Scrappers don't play very similarly in actual practice, and I feel that a Ranged/Defence AT would play drastically differently from all other ATs in the game so far.

Look at Masterminds, for instance. Yes, they have roles... None of which they're the best at, but why people play them isn't because they can tank or support or deal damage. In fact, ask around and to this day you'll get people argue over whether Masterminds can tank or not. But what makes the experience unique is that this AT plays like no other in the game BY FAR. I don't know what role they fit on a team, nor do I feel it's terribly important to the question of whether they bring something to the game that's worth keeping. Yes, they do, because the way they work is different from all other ATs. That's "unique" enough.
Personally, I think both role and playstyle should be considered, but there should be enough inbuilt flexibility to allow variation.

I quite like my "Retaliator" AT idea:

Primary role: Tank, Secondary role: ranged damage

    Primary powerset: Defence
    Secondary powerset: Assault

HP: Between Brute and Tanker, def/res values: as tank, but res capped at 85%. Ranged and melee damage mods: 0.75/0.75.

Inherent: Retaliation. As the Retaliator is attacked, their "retaliation bar" fills. When it is full, they can activate the "Retaliation button". This causes attacks to do double damage (scrapper critical style) and gives a +25% to-hit bonus for 20 seconds.

Inherent part 2: Assault-voke. All attacks proc a 5' radius taunt. Unlike punch-voke, this is coded in the same way as Interface, rather than hard-coded into attacks. When Retaliation is active, Assault-voke is turned off.
