At least one was written by novelisation-w**** Alan Dean Foster.

Okay, I will quantify that with - all those I've played, I've never had any problems fighting x8s on melee ATs (which would exclude stalkers, since I've never taken one past level 18) - and I'm no buildmeister and don't consider myself skilful.

Making it a prequel to Alien was simply trading on the popularity of a far superior movie.

It would have been a better movie if it hadn't pretended to be an (alleged) prequel to Alien.

Which is why the mission carries a warning saying it's more difficult.

If you don't want more difficult, you can always put the difficulty down. It costs nothing now you know. A blindfold penguin could do it on -1/x1.

As pointed out, it's not just Judgement, ALL incarnate abilities are unaffected by +recharge.

But +recharge is so good that it's often worth taking anyway.

It doesn't require skill or a build. Most melee ATs with any build can fight x8 spawns without breaking into a sweat.

Of course, Alien was a rip off of Doctor Who - The Ark in Space anyway.

I think Lindelof decided to to the script he wanted, rather than the one the fans wanted. He wanted to invent his own (less good) xenomorphs, so he moved everything to the next planet over.

I think what the fans would have wanted was a prequal that lead directly into Alien, but shed new light on proceedings, causing us to look at the original film in a new light.

Pulling is not fighting x8 spawns. it's fighting 1/3 of a spawn one after another. Any idiot with any AT and build can do that. It is slow, tedious and requires no skill.

No, that would be cheating, never mind tedious.

I usually go for +1/x8 on my tank. It's not remotely challenging, but I get bored by the protracted fights if I put the level up higher.

What's wrong is it's not true. If you are a melee AT, you live because you have defenses out of the box, no special build is required.

If Blasters required more skill but could achieve higher than other ATs, that would be fine. But blasters require more skill to achieve at the same level as a dim n00b playing a scrapper.

Sure, you use a couple of purple insps. No problem. I do it with my Ice tank all the time, which also has no psi defense.

A blaster can also do it with insps to of course, but the will need a lot more - insps for mez protection, insps for healing, and insps because the fight will go on for longer.

    Best zone content ever? No.
Did I like it better than the Hollows and Striga? Definitely.
Better than Croatoa and Rikti War Zone? Slightly.
So, overall, I thought it was pretty good.
Shows how much it's a matter of taste. I would rate those, from best to worst:

    1) Striga
    2) RWZ
    3) New DA
    4) Night Ward
    5) First Ward
    6) Hollows
    7) Croatoa

Acid Arrow would help deal with the enemies resisting lethal and fire damage
Just an aside, but from my memories of playing a /TA controller, Acid Arrow doesn't do enough damage for this. It's a debuff with a little minor damage, and S/L resistance will resist the debuff.

Nope, SR scrapper is still ahead in mez protection and max hp. And they can kill them faster than a blaster.

More likely from Bio Armor, which has some similar abilities.

Which of NP's abilities are you thinking of?

Isn't that proving the point point you are trying to oppose? Only Blasters would need to fight one Master Illusionist at a time. Anyone else can fight half a dozen.

I know. Why not create a new AT, called the Arroganter. Make it rubbish at everything so people who play it will be able to bask in the glow of their own superiority whenever they kill six skulls.

Then there would be no use for blasters at all.

It would, if those utility powers required melee range, but most of them don't. Most of the secondary powers that require melee are damage powers, so there really wouldn't be any reason to use them (unless they where fixed to do considerably more damage than ranged powers).

As for the mission you're referring to, you should have the help of the Black Knights if you did not simply rush in...

But yes, if there isn't a warning, there should be one. Although the maximum number of Malaises I've been against was 3, not 4.
Did this yesterday. Yes, there was a warning. Which was completely superfluous. The 3 Black Knight boss allies and the Lt slaughtered all the Malases before I could count them, never mind get an attack in.

If anything, this mission is to easy.

Of course, if you ignore your allies and jump straight to the end, you might find it difficult. But punishing stupidity is usually considered good design.

I'm not thinking about the Snipe modifier. I'm thinking about the proposed change where snipes are uninterruptable and fast against close targets. Everyone would get that. I don't think the devs would be willing to push the base damage on snipes up even higher, and I'm not sure that would help anyway unless it was enough to one-shot bosses.

Now I dont feel that the Blaster Secondaries are garbage.. thats a matter of opinion and they cannot build a game that meets everyones opinion.. Personally I like Energy, Electric and Mental Manipulation.. There are many people that like Ice a lot as a secondary as well.
They have a few good powers, seemingly distributed at random, but they don't form a coherent whole in the way scrapper, corruptor or dominator secondaries do. When the devs put in all those immobs I think they forgot that the game wouldn't be dominated by melee mobs with weak ranged attacks.

There is potential there. I think if the devs simply worked through each secondary, thinking "how can I make this as good as Corruptor secondaries without fundamentally changing the powers" it would go a long way to solving the problem (e.g. increasing some control mags or making them AoE, adding fear to some immobs, damage buff in TD, and so on). But overhauling all blaster secondaries like this would be very labour intensive.

As for the idea of giving all blasters inherent ranged defense, this would seem to match the original design intent, which failed because such a large proportion of mobs have strong ranged attacks that "range" isn't really an effective defense. However, it would further devalue all those melee attacks in secondaries, since it would make blasters (relatively speaking) gimped in melee range.
