    I think it's fair enough for someone to moan that they don't like the idea of playing a member of arachnos, that they would prefer something a bit less specific. This is story/concept related, and has nothing to do with how well the AT plays.

    Choosing to do the VEATs this way is a bold move by the developers, certain to delight some players, an upset others. If they had gone for a VEAT with no in game backbround, but superflash effects, the response would probably have been a bit less polarised, but also more luke warm from everyone.

    People are being harsh on Mog because he has clearly failed to grasp the point of playing as an AT that is based on belonging to an established villain group.

    For the people who want to play as a Soldier of Arachnos, it is not important that your powers look "wow" it is important that your powers look "right". I.e. they match what the NPCs have as closely as possible.

    Clearly, not all players will want to play as a member of an established villain group. In which case this EAT is not for you. You can't do a an EAT that will please 100% of players.

    At the moment, in CoH psi powers are purple. They will stay purple until power customisation comes in, in the year 4000AD.

    This does have advantages, it lets you know when someone is using psi powers without having to inspect thier power list or combat log.

    However, even when power customisation comes in, the NPC fortunatas will stay purple, so the player version should also be purple.

    Yes there are. However IT IS ALREADY ESTABLISHED THAT FORTUNATA PSI POWERS ARE PURPLE. IF YOU ARE GOING TO PLAY AS A FORTUNATA YOUR POWERS HAVE TO LOOK LIKE A FORTUNATA. FORTUNATAS HAVE PURPLE PSI BLASTS.

    On the other hand, there is no reason why psi blasters couldn't have different coloured powers (other than development time).

    BUT FORTUNATA PSI POWERS HAVE TO BE PURPLE BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY ESTABLISHED THAT FORTUNATA PSI POWERS ARE PURPLE. IF YOUR PSI POWERS ARN'T PURPLE YOU AREN'T A FORTUNATA.

    That would suck from both sides. Those who want to play as "the guys with the cool uniforms who we have been fighting for years" would be disapointed, as would the people who don't want to have anything to do with arachnos.

    It's used in the bible, it's not specifically biblical. Omega is simply the last letter of the greek alphabet, and so has come to mean "the last". In fact, it was already used in that context when the greek version of the bible was wrtten. Hence it's inclusion (Jesus spoke Aramaic, not Greek).

    No, many of the powers will be the same as the NPC spiders. That's kind of the point.

  13. The idea of branching, is the "trunk" is the same. I.e. you have the same lower level powers, regardless of being a Bane or Crab spider. Thse powers do not get taken away from you.

    At level 24 you choose your branch. This means there are two alternative versions of the top half of your primary and secondary powersets. One has the bane spider powers, the other has your crab spider powers.

    It's not a matter of them being really really bad. Its a matter of them being not quite as good on a team as any other AT (given equal player skill).

    Maybe thats because Fortunatas and Nightwidows are already in the game?

    If they had all new powers they wouldn't match the NPC mobs they are meant to represent.

    The appeal of the VEATs is not shiny new powers and unique gameplay. The appeal is wearing the cool uniforms and the the story arcs.

    I didn't explain it because I had to go and get tea ready.

    All the information is already in the issue 12 introduction and in the other theads on VEATs though.

    And yes, the latest information we have is that both VEATs have to take natural origin.

    Yes. VEATs are COMPLETLY different.

    You do not choose a power called "bane spider" at level X and get all the bane spider powers.

    Sure, no aoes and no taunt are fine if you solo all the time, but as soon as you get on a team you won't get aggro so your fury bar will fall, and you will end up doing even less damage than the stalker.

  24. Er, Shannon is right. I said /Psi has decient ranged attacks. I did not say it doesn't have excellent melee attacks. To skip the melee attacks on any dom secondary is to gimp yourself.
  25. /psi is probably the best secondary for range.

    However dom melee attacks do about 15% more damage than ranged attacks.
