Resistan means you will still be affected by -fly, but it will wear of quicker.

In second edition D&D, some stats where useless to some classes, so if using a point buy system, you would put the usless stats to a minimum, and maximise the more useful stats. This lead to extremely dumb paladins.
-
BAB has confirmed that as well as being able to customise your shield model, you can give it any chest emblem.
I started a Shield speculation thread here. -
Some mobs have no melee attacks.
There is no range debuff resistance listed under combat atributes, so I have no idea if AVs would resist this effect.
How much -range (and duration) is the challenge to balance. Make it small, and it wouldn't help much in PvP, unless you make it self stacking. Make it to much, and multiple tanks would be able to reduce range to zero.
Which may raise another issue. I don't think there is a minimum range on ranged attacks at the moment (melee attacks are simply unaffected by range buffs and debuffs), you would probably have to change the game code to make 5' the minimum range. -
The radius is the same. However the taunt duration on Mud Pots is 13.5 s, but RttC is only 1.25 seconds. Mud Pots also generates more aggro because it does damage.
Edit: The reason GA tends not to be so good at aggro holding is the -recharge makes them taunt slower, and the -speed means they can't move around as much to taunt mobs with thier aura. A well played Stone Tank can overcome both these issues, but there are a few duff ones around
A WP tanker can hold aggro, but they have to do it by spamming taunt.

Question... Is there a blaster power that'll work like the X-men's Cyclops ie Optical blasts or Superman style laser eyes?
[/ QUOTE ]
X-Ray Beam (Radiation Blast), Laser Beam Eyes (Tanker/Scrapper ancillary), Glinting Eye (PB), Ebon Eye (WS).
Edit: I just noticed you said a blaster power. I'm afraid none of the above powers are available to blasters (yet). Psi Blast and Sonic Blast powers originate from the head though.

i was thinking along the lines of set creatures ie giant, or dragon ( able to fly ) etc
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, this is similar to keldians, the nova form flies, the dwarf form is sort of a giant. Granite Armour is largish too. The developers have discussed the possibility of a Growth powerset that would enable you to become larger, but it is technically rather tricky, and when we had a vote it came out behind Shields and Willpower. -
Oh, that is in issue 13. I here Regen Melee is a great tanker set. You pull off one of your arms and hit the mobs with it. A new one grows back though.

Yes, its really terrible the way experienced players try to explain things to less experenced players. It would be much kinder to let the wander forever in the slough of ignorance.

For someone who has made comments in another thread regarding a certain country, your one for mentioning "Ignorance"

I said Greece has a low population. Now that is open to what you define as small, but I looked up the population before I said it, and it is 11 million, compared to the UK which is 60 million, Germany: 82 million, California, 36 million. -

You'll also get used to some of the posters liking to rag on the older ones for actually knowing things. Sad, but true.
[/ QUOTE ]
And you'll get use to some spending more time on the boards posting than actually playing the game and don't know as much as they think they know.. Sad, but true.
[/ QUOTE ]
The people who spend a lot of time on the forums are usually people who are at work, so they have internet access but can't play. -
There is no "Cartel". That's just a stupid (and rather abusive) word the the board software puts under our names. If you have been posting on there forums for 3-4 years, you are going to aquire a high post count. Especially those of us who are stuck at work with access to the internet but unable to play games. We do not always agree, we do not always back each other up.

Agreed with your post Saxtus, think a line has been crossed, can understand you being upset.

I'm sorry, I don't understand. All I said was Greece has a low population. This is a point of fact. It does not imply anything negative about the country or it's people. I'm Scottish. It has an even smaller population than Greece. There is nothing wrong with being a small country.
I'm sorry if I caused offence, there was none intended. -

Bottom line is if the game had been released in EU with only official English language support, then the savings could have been spent on better/greater advertising, or just been saved. Instead NCSoft over extended themselves which has now resulted in job losses.
((Sorry if I misunderstood Praf's point, but that is what I think he's trying to say...))
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, you have got it spot on. -
[ QUOTE ]
Considering the fact that there are living as much people in europe then say the US I say you are very wrong.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but with 20+ different languages it costs around 20 times the amount to market to the whole EU than it does to the whole of the US. And if you start providing servers in the individual langages it pushes costs up astronomiclly. -

Korean CoX, Auto Assault
[/ QUOTE ]
These should both have been duffed before release.
NCSoft published too many MMOs, instead of getting solidly behind a small number. How many MMOs do Blizzard publish? Exactly one, which means they can give it the whole of thier marketing budget, and they aren't competing whith themselves. -
[ QUOTE ]
is this really enough given the powerset was designed to fulfill an entirely diffrent role
[/ QUOTE ]
They are only proliferating sets disigned to fulfill a similar role.
[ QUOTE ]
surely a complete rebuild from the ground up would be more appropriate
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is exactly what they did for blaster Psi Blast.
[ QUOTE ]
I doubt just Copying and tweaking is going to give us as well balanced and interesting powerset
[/ QUOTE ]
True, but that was never what they where doing with powerset proliferation. -

What would be the point in advertising in Greece? there is no greek localisation, no greek GMs, Greece has a tiny population anyway. Face it, you aint worth thier while.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you was trying to make a joke or been sarcastic, I am sorry but you failed to do so.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I was pointing out a fact. The same is true for any Eurpean country. The only way they can target the EU as a market is to treat it as a single entity, which is rather scuppered by the different languages and media. -
[ QUOTE ]
if they had that attitude this game would not have left the states.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed, in terms of cost/profit, the entire EU operation was probably not a good idea. Although you could probably extend that to saying that in terms of cost/profit publishing MMOs in the west isn't a good idea (unless is's as big as WoW).
Maybe this isn't the place for such a descussion, since we all feel sympathy for those losing thier jobs, but I'm analysing why it happened.
I think its important to remember that NCSoft europe, and those other branches which are being merged, where set up before WoW managed to monopolise the MMO market. The company's Korean directors saw the potential for massive expansion of the MMO market in the west. They weren't to know that it would be another company's product that would be best able to take advantage of that. -

Castle says he is interested in this idea , so I though I would post a link so you guys can see and give an opinion.
-
Eh, that's not quite what we said.
We said there are already some shapeshifting powers in the game. There is no reason why more, similer to GA, keldian forms, or PPD Hardsuit power couldn't be added in the future. -

Superheroes aren't just about comics anymore. Look at how popular all of the superhero movies have been over here.
[/ QUOTE ]
Batman has been in movies since 1940. But if you look at the gross takings for superhero movies you will see that the US far outstrips the whole of Europe added together. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sorry buddy but that's just plain wrong. I've been reading Fantastic Four, Spidey and Hulk et al since I was 6.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a selection effect. You being here implies a familiarity with superhero comics. It doesn't mean you are typical.
[ QUOTE ]
Very few people "collect" Beano/Dandy etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Funny, because I know a couple of people who do just that.
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, it's a specialist market
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. There are many people in France who read superhero comics, but it is a significantly smaller proportion of the population than those in the US. Many of those who do read them read them in English, and hence don't need french localisation anyway. Add into that France only has one fifth of the population of the United States, and you are left with a very small market. -
If you are here, chances are you like superhero comics. However, in the USA, just about every kid is brought up them (slight exagaration). In the UK kids are as likely to have grown up reading Beano, and an even smaller proportion will have been exposes in other EU countries do to the nead for translation. It all amounts to a smaller market. If you need evidence, look at how small the non-english server populations are. You can't put it all down to a lack of advertising, since there wasn't that much in the US either.
I'm sure you would get some take up for Asterix Online in the USA, but it's going to be a much smaller market than the DC MMO. Would it be worth marketing such a game in the US? Quite possibly, given the large population and wealth, but if your creditors are hammering at your door it is better to stick to the safe bets (unless the jig is up anyway, in which case a more risky stratagy would be called for).
Which is not to say that NCSoft are thinking of axing French and German support, but it is what I would do if I where in charge.
