How does it really work?

Yesterday I was fighting with some CoTs and I could not hover myself up a puddleof Quicksand. Does hover really counter the -fly effect? Or it depends on what power it is up against?

It used to bug so that it bypassed KB effects. Powers like quicksand and icepatch also didn't have a height component. Both of the above have been changed in recent patches.

Hover grants fly, and +def. Nothing more

But is it said quite specifically in Version 17.20080521.1 (28th May) that:

Power Pool Powers:

Flight / Hover - Hover is now resistant to -Fly effects.

It does say "resistant", not "immune". Try looking up [Hover] and [Quicksand] and compare numbers.

Heck, i looked up [Hover] before posting, had nothing in the detailed info about it. As Col. said, if anything it's resistant. Caltrops and Quicksand are still going to sting, whereas I presume some MA/ attacks of 1 stack of web grenade won't instantly drop you from the sky

Resistan means you will still be affected by -fly, but it will wear of quicker.

I really should do something about this signature.

neh, it did not wear off at all. I had to crawl my way out of that puddle.

And I could not find anything on hover either. nevermind.

Thank you all

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. Ta PRAF

It wouldn't wear off if you where still in the AoE of the pet generating the -fly, because it would keep applying a new one. It would wear off quicker once you where out of the aoe.
