Congrats!
We're always tweaking our anti-purple-warshade device. The latest version is 2.715 I believe. We like to call it, "Mr. Thingy." -
Flipping is buying, say, Steel for 12,000 and selling them for 500,000 or higher. Mostly it works when supply is low. You can flip almost anything though.
Crafting is buying, say, 5 or 10 Mako's Bite dam/rech for 500 influence each, buying 5-10 of each salvage on bids that fill overnight so you get it all pretty low, then selling the crafted IOs for 5-10 million a piece, whatever they happen to be going for. Just so long as your purchase price + salvage + crafting costs + market fees are much less than your sale price, which they frequently are by a wide margin. People like to spend high to avoid crafting themselves.
Crafting can also be rolling tickets or merits/amerits for recipes which you craft and sell. This takes more time but you essentially get your recipes for free -- you buy them with the time investment needed to generate the tickets or merits. Takes longer to get salvage for multiple different recipes too, but you can score big when the Random Number Generator is kind to you.
And I craft whatever good stuff I get in drops, too. -

I'm thinking I need to pull down some of those older bids and relist them.
Gift of the Ancients defense/increased run speed: 73 for sale, 73 bidding, last 5 sales for 8 million. My listing of 8.1 million will take forever to sell.
Positron's Blast chance for energy damage: 74 bidding, 174 for sale. Last 5 sales for 6 million and one sale for 2 million. I have NO chance of selling this at my listed price of 9.1 million
Decimation acc/dam/rech: 48 bidding, only 26 for sale. Last 5 sales for 15 million, although when I checked yesterday there were 4 sales for 25 million. If I had listed this at 15.1 million it probably would have sold by now. But with only 26 for sale, there's still hope mine will sell.
Numina's Convalescence healing/recharge: 153 bidding, 194 for sale. Last 5 sales include three at 32 million and 2 at 40 million. Even with that many for sale, this is a valuable IO. It was selling for 50 million when i listed for 41 million... I really need to relist this lower.
Oh and Nanowrimo: 36,210 words as of last night. -
As an experiment I've recently been working on field crafter on a brand new character. My character is level 27, and I stared with about 2 million influence. I crafted accuracy and then damage IOs first, just enough to get the badges I needed, and sold what I made on the market. I went on to craft endurance modification, heal, defense, and run IOs.
At this point I've got most of the badges I need for the accolade. I still have to craft some of the less popular IOs -- fear/hold etc. It'll be quite a while before I get to 1,000 items crafted. But the important thing is I now have over 50 million influence. That's just from selling the IOs that I'm required to craft for the badges. I log in once or twice a day, collect money, collect salvage I've bid on, craft, list stuff for sale and put in bids for the salvage I'll need next. -
Nov 23 (2nd roll of day)
Hero Merit Purchase: 20,000,000 (level 35-39 roll) 10 PM (23rd purchase)

Another not-so-great roll. Luckily the roll I made tonight was much better. ^_^ -
Quote:Well, aside from that being somewhat altruistic, it could also be sort of profitable at the moment...So, what's a solution? Join in a farm and roll all your tickets for salvage?
I'd expect I19 next week, and things will... well, not return to normal maybe, but move on to a completely different player trend. -
Nov 23:
Hero Merit Purchase: 20,000,000 (level 35-39 roll) (at 5:45 AM) (1:45 AM)

Aegis end/rech listed for 3.1 mil
Aegis end/rech listed for 3.1 mil
Positron's Blast chance for energy damage listed for 3,001,000
Celerity +stealth listed for... no idea. Probably 3,001,000 as well
This really pissed me off. The Celerity stealth was the only IO that was really worth anything, and before listing it I went to type "/screenshotui 1" so that I'd be ready to take my screenshot of what was listed. I had a problem on the weekend with stuff selling before I could even take my screenshot. Anyway, when I tried to bring up the chat box and type my screenshotui command, instead I somehow listed the Celerity stealth for sale. I didn't even know that I could do that from the keyboard... it really, really pissed me off. In practical terms, I only lost about 20 million on the sale (sold for 20 mil, usually sells for 40 mil), but in terms of me trying to be very careful with everything I do and then somehow messing up... it felt like I was getting screwed over, like I wasn't allowed to list the item for what I wanted to list it for.
Anyway... all that said, the last two days have been pretty lackluster rolls. I get to make another roll tonight at 10 PM.
Nanowrimo: over 34,000 words.

Note: I didn't get to join my usual Monday night Hamidon raid. Luckily I still have just over 400 merits on Nina, so I'm not going to run out soon. Today was payday, and it snowed in Seattle. I drove up to my credit union in Kent (I don't have direct deposit) and while the roads where I live were wet, in Kent there was snow everywhere and the roads were sheets of ice, and snow was still coming down, and cars were stuck everywhere... it took me over an hour to get to my bank, usually it's a 15 minute trip, and when I got there they'd closed. I dropped my check in the night deposit box and spent an hour driving back home through snow. No hami raid for you!
On the other side I'm at 30,500 words written for Nanowrimo, so I'm doing very well atm on that front . ^_^ -
I play my scrappers nearly every day. Nothing's changed; they're still awesome.
-
I didn't even know this post was still around. I always meant to recreate it in the guides section, but then we have a new market interface now, and I'd have to take new screenshots and basically rewrite it from scratch... so I never got around to it.
On the other hand, it still seems pretty relevant. -
BTW, I spent a large part of this weekend writing. I'm now at 28,774 words (the goal for Nanowrimo is to write 50,000 words in the month of November). I'm supposed to be at 35,000 words by now, but I was barely at 15,000 words at the start of the weekend, so I'm catching up fast. ^_^

Quote:Lol. Yes. Though I managed it in 44 minutes yesterday. 33 merits in 44 minutes, hard to beat that solo. ^_^My prediction: you are going to be real sick of freakshow wars by the end of this

I lost some things, and I don't even know what I lost.
At worst, I may have lost some cash (150 million or less), an Obliteration quad recipe (level 30 I think), and possibly a couple of nice crafted recipes, Numina's unique and something else that I can't remember... but to be honest I might have already claimed the items and tossed them into my base, I can't remember. Nor do I remember who I mailed them from, though I think I could figure that one out if I tried.
I'm probably much better off than most others, so I'm not going to worry about it too much. It's annoying, but I have plenty of play money so it's not going to really hurt me or anything. But it bugs me. -

I spent most of the night writing. I'm waaaay behind for Nanowrimo this year... been playing too much and not writing enough. I decided to skip out on my Thursday "static team" group... having to play 2-3 hours a night 3 nights a week is a big part of my problem. So I spent most of the night writing instead. I'm now at 13,055 words, so I probably have no hope of getting to 50,000 words by the end of the month, unless I can manage a few 5,00 word nights or something. -
Quote:Funnily enough, I've listed a bunch of level 10 IOs this past week for 1 influence each. When I didn't just outright destroy them to get them out of my inventory.Yeah, I just bought 3 level 10 accuracies for far less than I could craft them. The Luck charm alone would have cost 10 times that.
Some good deals out there!

In this case I think you can ignore the last 5 sales, especially if there aren't any for sale. I'd check to see how many are for sale at any level below 50 (you can click the "see for sale only" button to do this quickly). Unless there are a LOT for sale at lower levels, which I'm pretty sure there aren't (at work atm so I can't verify), I'd just list it for... say... 120 million. Or at least something over 100 million.
It will take longer to sell than a level 50, but scarcity means people that WANT to slot at lower levels will meet your price eventually.
And in that case I don't think it matters which one you use. -
One of my SG mates has tried to get to 9999 merits before. I think they were up around 2500 at one point.
I have one character that is at 1189. It's a long ways to 9999. If you were able to do 100 merits a day on the same character, then it's still over 3 months of solid work.
As for Vanguard merits... when I was getting the bomb and AV badges for the Mothership raid, I had over 1000 on Mouse Police. That's a very steep climb to 9999 too; you'd have to do regular MS raids for months I think.
What about Halloween salvage? -
Can't really answer that since even discussing the existence of an exploit is not allowed.
-
Quote:I've done 15 a-merit rolls this month (actually I've done more than that, but I'm documenting a roll a day on a specific character). I've made a little over 1 billion influence so far. It's a lot more work to craft and sell all the random recipes, and it helps that I'm an experienced marketeer, but I estimate (based on my experience so far) that I will make about 1.2 billion influence on 15 a-merits. 7 LotG +7.5% would have netted me a bit less... maybe 950 million to 1 billion, if they sold close to 150 million a piece. So the difference isn't necessarily huge, and it's less work to do the LotG's, and it's less random of course. What are people's feelings on how to spend the Alignment Merits? I have a couple H-merits and I am tempted to pick up a LotG 7.5% recipe directly, but might it be more economical to get the random recipe rolls? What do you lot usually do?
As long as the one PvP IO sells for 30 merits and goes for more than 2 billion, that seems like the best money maker.
