...you could hear toilet flushing if you stood near the restrooms in the train station?

[/ QUOTE ]You still can, can't you? I noticed that last year sometime.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So far as I know you still can.

How about: Missions had not difficulty slider, and if you played solo and got an AV, you just had to wait a few levels until you could take him on.

Giant Monsters had levels. I remember soloing the Hydra and Adamaster, among others. Also the first Halloween GMs. If I remember correctly, the Winter Lords during the first winter event were the first GMs to have the "GM code" that makes them con purple at any level... but of course, they got the experience messed up when they did that.

    And I did! A lot!

Remember when Faultline was an even more pointless zone than Boomtown? Many people went there exactly once because there was one mission that sent you there.

Remember when the only complaint about PvP was that there WAS no PvP?

...the Paragon Dance Party was hidden, and only certain people knew where to find it? Not surprisingly, it was almost always empty....

    [/ QUOTE ]

I remember when there WAS no Paragon Dance Party. Also I remember when the entrance was right next to the train in South Steel Canyon, and it was more popular as a shortcut to Talos Island...

...you could go into Peregrine Island and NOT see a ton of very short "texting" messages float across your screen from people that were doing the same thing over and over?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I remember when there was no Peregrine Island. ^_^

Not to mention all the "where are the lost?" questions.

...Outbreak had a final police officer instead of Coyote, and there was no Flower Knight?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't remember when they put Coyote in, but I don't remember who was there before him. Then again, not sure why I would. ^_^

...trading large amounts of influence was a pain in the butt, but it wasn't too bad, because it didn't happen often?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, it happened often enough, trust me

I remember when my first character had a costume glitch, and I couldn't do anything to fix it except delete the character and start over (which luckily I did not do).

I remember when you couldn't change your supergroup colors... ever. Ours were black and pink.

I remember when katana had the exact same animations as broadsword.

I remember when smoke grenade made you invincible, when regen made you invincible, when invincibility made you... well, REALLY and TRULY invincible...

I remember when there were no badges. I think. Right?

I remember when you needed a special key bind to make your chat balloon change colors. Everyone thought that was cool.

I remember when the Sewer Trial was the greatest thing in the world for people to run, and Sewer Trial farm spam dominated Founder's Falls.

I remember when high level ambushes in low level zones were quite common, and very scary.

I remember when "Kill Skuls", "I challenge you to a duel I won" and "Gone to the Americans" were brand new and actually funny. ^_^
  4. Ok I gave it my best shot too. Working from comments other people made and adding my own ideas. I tried to go for different colors without using any very bright colors, since I wanted an overall rusty/old/used look.

    1. Asymmetrical is good. There aren't many such options. Robotic Arm 3 (right arm) is one. One com on the helmet, one eye piece, gladiator shoulders. those are options. I also went with the ragged kilt here because although it may not seem logical for a robot to have one, it's about the only ragged or asymmetrical item I can think of for below the waist, and it works well for a homeless / junky look. Maybe trenchcoat with tattered coattails could work just as well.

    2. Camo pattern can work well for rust or dried blood. I used that on the torso.

    3. I really like the massive gear shoulders for a junky kind of look.

    4. A wrench mace looks good. ^_^ Also for aesthetic reasons I went with the ghost slaying axe and the nemesis staff. I kind of liked the look of him pulling different things from his back, it sort of enhanced the overall concept for me.

  6. Unless I'm severely mistaken, anyone can craft a full set of level 35 IOs with a little patience and 5 million... the only price that fluctuates is the price of the salvage. I'm pretty lazy so I always buy my recipes from the table (until I've memorized them) and I still don't think I spend over 5 million to outfit a character at level 35.

At worst, you can partially or mostly outfit your character, then do the rest when you've earned a bit more money. In the meantime you're much better off and your IO enhancements are never going to turn red.

But as many others have already pointed out, it's impossible to deplete inventory on an item that has an endless supply at a fixed price, which generic IO recipes have.

Even more to the point, if a marketeer is able to buy low and sell high, it NEVER prevents you from buying low as well. You just need to set a price at which the product will eventually sell, and come back later -- just like the marketeer does.

  7. It kills me how many people have posted on this thread saying that it no longer works... who also obviously aren't testing it, just looking at the last five prices of any given recipe. ^_^

People like that are the whole reason these kind of strategies work in the first place!

  8. I've seen posts about things like this before... but it's never happened to me until now.

It wasn't my mission, but the team I was on set a mission to "Defeat BOSS_NAME and Guards". We joked about the name, and I said I hoped that was his real name.

Well, we enter the mission... and it's full of Longbow. They're listed as "Custom_Critter" and they won't fight back (this was hero side). The only thing in the entire mission that fought back was a lone Void Hunter. Mostly the Longbow ran away, which got a bit annoying at times.

But the boss really was named BOSS_NAME.

Anyway I had to take pictures just because. I've played 4 years and not seen a mission like this before. ^_^ They're not artistic, they're just "look, weird mission" pictures.

    So close!

With a hint like that I'd guess thigh high boots but those look like tights, so I'll go with "shiny tights" option on the lower leg/boot? Because that's annoyed me before, I like the shiny tights look but you can't match it with "tights" style boots I don't think... though I can't remember if you were ever able to do that either....

  10. Or hold page up and use the arrow keys to rotate the camera around. ^_^

Or log into your second account so you can get a better closeup...

  11. Sheesh I almost thought you were linking to this thread... I didn't even notice at first that it was a new one.
  12. That's also something you can set in options.

  13. Now that I think about it, one of those male characters that I created and haven't played is named None More Black.

He's basically Nigel Tufnel as a hero. In black. I guess if I ever played him I'd have to do the green skeleton tee shirt for the second costume

  14. <nigeltufnelvoice> What's wrong with being sexy? </nigeltufnelvoice>
  15. I make male characters, I just rarely play them. ^_^
  16. The Shadow Knight looks awesome. Very well done!

  17. Thanks! One of the fun things about doing this is trying to learn new things in photoshop. I only play around with it as a hobby doing stuff like this, but I discovered several more tricks this weekend.

Shinobu Dragonheart has an explanation in her bio for why she wears so little... it's part of her contract with the elderly scientist who designed her power boots and gloves. Because, you know, they're trying to market her as a hero and thereby his products as well. Although he seems far more interested in photographing her "for promotional purposes" than in actually selling any of his inventions....

  18. They're mostly just screenshots thrown together in photoshop, but since I spent a lot of my weekend making these I figured I'd post them:

    Agent Amethyst
    Holy Bell
    Huntress Midnight
    Mirror Moon
    Mouse Police
    Organica
    Sailor Shinobu
    Serpentine Fire
    Shinobu Dragonheart
    Shinobu Starchild
    Valentine Candy
    Wings of Liberty

The sad thing is I could keep making these forever... I have tons of characters. This last wallpaper is a mosaic of most of my characters who are above level 20 (there are two pictured here who are level 17 I think, and I left out at least three in the 20-25 range that I can remember):

    Hero Mosaic

For those keeping score (not sure why anyone would but it amuses me ^_^ ):

    female characters: 27

    heroes: 22
    villains: 5

    Scrappers: 4
    Tankers: 4
    Blasters: 4
    Trollers: 3
    Fenders: 3
    War Shades: 2
    Peace Bringers: 2
    Brute: 1
    Master Mind: 1
    Dom: 1
    Crab: 1
    Widow: 1

    Characters named Mouse Police: 4
    Characters named Shinobu: 5
Catgirls: 6 (counting the 4 Mouse Police)
Characters with Dragon in their name: 3
    Characters named Butterfly: 2
Characters with butterfly wings: 4 pictured... but realistically, most of them at some point.
Characters with tech wings: 4 pictured
Characters using young face 11: Well, probably all of them... even the one with the pumpkin head
  19. Boss Clicky-Clack went down to Atlas, he was looking for a hero to beat.
He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind: he was ready and willin' to cheat.
When he came across this hero dancin' in the street and doin' it hot.
And the boss clock jumped upon a bus stop and said: "Bzzt*click! Let me tell you what:
"I bet you didn't know it, but Clicky-clacks can dance well too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you dance pretty well girl, but give this clock his due:
"I bet a contraption of brass against your rep, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The hero said: "My name's Sister Flame and it might be a sin,
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best that's ever been."

Sister shine your dancin' shoes and shake your booty 'round.
'Cos heck's broke loose in Atlas and the clocks are dancin' down.
And if you win you get this shiny contraption made of brass.
But if you lose, the clockwork wins at last.

The clockwork polished up his brass and he said: "I'll get on down."
And sparks flew from his digits as he spun himself around.
And he moonwalked across the parking lot with an evil click and hiss.
Then a band of gears joined in and it looked something like this:

    ....... ++
    ....... * *
    ........++.....@
    .........!!.......!!
    ...========
    ...!!....!!!!
    ...@....!!!!
    .........!!!!
    ......O###O
    ......!!....... \\
    ......!!.........\\
    ......!!.......... \\........._O_...._O_...._O_...._O_
    .....###........###....../\......./\......./\......../\

    (ugh... that's hard)

When the clockwork finished, Sister said: "Well you're pretty good, Clicky-clack.
"But sit down on that bench right there, and let me show you where it's at."

Fire from the Hellions, run boys, run.
Clockworks on the roof with the risin' sun.
Skulls in the fountain, swimin' around.
    "Sister, does your flame hurt?"
    "Let's find out...."

    (Dancing ensues)

Boss Clicky-clack bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat.
He tried to hide the contraption, because he still wanted to cheat.
Sister hit him with a ball of flame and took the proof of her win,
She said, "I can always beat you clicky-clacks, 'cause I'm the best that's ever been."

The server and character selection backgrounds look like they're in the Ouroboros zone instead of the original backgrounds. How was that customized?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a program designed by a COH user to do this. I can't find it currently, but I know someone around here probably can.

You can change the load in screen, character selection screen, etc. Believe people even changed their music.

  22. Soooo... is the hardsuit worth $30.00? ^_^

I mean yeah, I'd get to wander around a few hours on top of that and meet people, but that's my only real reason for thinking of going.

  23. I think it's a cool giveaway. These are easy for them to code, since they already had things set up for the Halloween event... so it's simultaneously something cool that most players will appreciate or covet, and it's nothing that is game-changing or very difficult for them to do.

Also, I've never been to PAX and never felt the need to go, but since I live in the Seattle area and the hardsuit looks awesome, I'm suddenly wondering what would a 1-day pass would cost me? ^_^
