There are a couple of names I'm particularly pleased with.
Radiant Decay, a Rad/Rad Corr. Caught in a containment failure at nuclear power plant, his body is crippled and highly irradiated. He lives via his power armour/life support suit. The incident give him a profound misanthropic depression and seeks to inflict it upon everyone else.
A name which I was very fortunate to nab was Captain Epic. The link'll tell you all you need to know about him.
Narada is my Warshade. The name means "Wisdom giver" in sanskrit and comes from a figure in Vaishnavic Hindu tradition. My character is a very old Kheldian, perhaps as old as Shadowstar, inhabiting the body of a brain-dead woman from Paragon. Having lived for so long, Narada has experienced so many things and hopes that through helping the people of Paragon it/she can prevent other from making the same mistakes it/she did.
There are others, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. -
CoHSplasher still works fine on XP.
If anyone wants their own custom login, or even the ones I've posted, I'll be happy to help in that regard. Just hit me up with a pm and we'll arrange something. Bare in mind that if a redname tells me to stop, then I'll stop. No sense in getting in trouble over it. -

Logic dictates that it'll BABs who bites the dust. However, I'd much rather see Statesman go. He was written as a Mary Sue for much of his early appearances (just check the backstory page on the main CoH site). He went from dropping Rikti motherships single handedly, to 'um'ing and 'ah'ing over whether gaining power from the Well of the Furies was a good idea or not.
Give him his obligatory 'heroic' death and let Hero-1 take his place. It's about time he came back fully anyway, after all we did
rescue the Honoree from the Rikti
and thus opens it up for his full return.
May Excalibur shine in the dawn once more. Long live Hero-1: The First, the Last, the One. -
IIRC when the game was being developed it was envisioned that teams would street sweep their way from mission to mission. Of course with the advent of travel powers, mission teleporters, etc, street sweeping has become a lost art. It's one of the reasons Hazard Zones are pretty much dead.
I'd love to see a system in which the game rewards you for street sweeping beyond the usual inf/insp/recipe drops.
Perhaps Heroes and Villains can save/shakedown civilians and with each rescue/shakedown earn progress towards an ambush by X villain group containing a named boss. Each time you you defeat the boss/ambush it nets you a reward merit. -
With all this talk of the upcoming new CoH Freedom login splash I figured I'd share with you the login screens I've been using for the last few months. These ones are custom made by my own tireless hands.
If any one else has custom login screens, share 'em cause I'd like to see 'em.

Off topic slightly, but that new Atlas music is frighteningly similar to a new track I started on yesterday (uploaded today).
I can only call it exceptional coincidence as Paragon's version had likely been composed a while ago, yet only showcased today. -
Trust me, the movies are the lesser of two evils. At least they are competently made. The books on the other hand are horribly written disgraces to literature.

Quote:I had suspected something along those lines. I quite like the idea of being able to swap out Super Jump for Fly, yet keep Combat Jumping. Though I expect there'll be some sort of trade off, perhaps a 5th power in each of the travel pools which requires a 'main' travel power like Fly or Super Jump as a prerequisite.Which could be a hint that the level access of travel powers might be going to be changed in I21 - maybe similar to something I've suggested before - like you get your first travel power pick when you make your avatar, and then your second one at 6, which is about the time you'd be heading out into the wider city after completing the starter zone content.
Getting to pick the way you ant to travel when you make your avatar would make more sense than having to wait a few levels for it. -
New track today. Arrival at Atlas Park. This one is sort of a follow up to the Atlas Park fanfare. To be honest I wasn't to happy with that one as it sound a bit too Superman-ish.
So, I took the original Atlas music and did an extended version, complete with better sounding instruments.
Try to imagine, if you will, arriving in Atlas, fresh from Outbreak to the sight of City Hall, the Atlas statue and dozens of heroes buzzing about the place. I'm trying to capture that new player feeling and sense of wonder at the adventure you're about to embark on.
EDIT: Ok, I've just heard what appears to be new Atlas Park music in the Coffee Talk Ustream. Consider my mind blown! The similarities between that and my new one are freakin' eerie. -
Stupenderific! Consider my giggle feathers well and truly tickled. My heartiest congratuwelldones to you.

*rubs crystal ball*
The mists are clearing... I see... I see people hitting people with sticks and running away?! Oh for f...bloody thing!
*rubs crystal ball again*
I see... I see... furry underpants?! Ok that's just weird. We'll try again.
*rubs crystal ball once more*
I see more beyond the login screen. I see shiny new UIs and other flavours of awesome... Ooooh the mists are faaaAAaading...
Now gimme some cash. I don't do this for free y'know!

I would like to recommend a Dark/Dark/Soul Brute. A highly versatile combo that makes you a rampaging box of tricks. A Jack-of-all-trades that can fill almost every niche to a greater or lesser extent. It specializes in single target melee, but is capable of ranged assault, debuffs, mob lockdown, stealth, tanking and soft control. Add incarnate abilities to the mix and you get ally buffs, pets and a nuke.
The combo can work just as well with Scrappers and Tankers, though the specialisation is damage and survivability respectively. The Brute is a happy medium. -
Supergroup Interviews Episode 2: The Knight Phantom is up for your viewing pleasure.

Not strictly true. Soul Transfer.
Anyhoo, with regards to this topic, I'm of the opinion that none of the ATs are obsolete. Defenders especially, as their buff/debuff ability is second to none. Sure a team of raw damage might be able to get the job done, but with a Defender on board it gets done far quicker. Hell, all-Defender teams are outright devastating to AVs and GMs. That being said so are all-anything teams. -
I suspect he meant 'bar' as opposed to 'par', "everything bar melee, ranged and aoe..." makes more sense.

Arachnos security teams reviewed this footage of a disturbance outside Fort Darwin in Mercy Island. When they saw it, it chilled them to the bone.

I'm currently on page 20. Thus far my only complaints are editorial, as I assume its an early draft. You need to go through it or have someone else go through it and make note of the things that need fixing.
Other than that I'm enjoying it thus far.
EDIT: Your descriptions of Statesman have him wearing his modern costume. He wore a very different outfit in the 1930's:
EDIT2: Finally finished it, and I have to say I did rather enjoy it, editorial issues aside. -
I would personally love to see those ridiculous sparkles removed from Dark Armor's Murky Cloud. Or at least some alternate effects. It's difficult to take a DA toon seriously when they twinkle like a particularly depressed Twilight vampire.
As for alternate effects, how about a void vortex swirling around the character, drawing in the surrounding shadows, sucking the very life from the air like an abyssal black hole. -
I've found that around 6' 6" on the height slider puts you at about average in comparison to most NPCs. Typically I'll have males at around 6' 6" and females a few inches shorter at 6' - 6' 3", depending on the character.
Incidentally, Statesman's a bit of a shortarse when compared to other NPCs (not as diminutive as Manticore though). States is around 6' 3" or 6' 4". Considerably shorter than Imperious, who is at least 7'.
Oddly, Marauder is taller than BABs. Must be all that Enriche. -
On a HD3870 I'd recommend going all the way back to 11.2. I run a HD4670 and the 11.2 drivers did the trick for me.

...new music? I know that plenty of people have turned the in-game music off. This is mainly due to hearing the same tracks over and over, but partly because some of the music sounds horribly lo-fi and really jars when compared to Jason Graves' stunning Going Rogue soundtrack. The heroside login theme is particularly un-epic when compared to the GR login theme or even the redside login theme.
Given that I21 will bring a new tutorial in Galaxy City and a brand new presentation with Noble Savage's new artwork, I think what would really top it all off would be new, grandiose, epic music. In an act of shameless self promotion I've put together a piece called Galaxy's Last Stand as an idea of the level of epic tunage I feel the game deserves. Some of you have already heard my CoH inspired works, and mine aren't the only ones.
That being said, some of the new music for the itrials has been pretty good. I'd just love to see some of the older stuff brought up to date. -
I do have a quick turnaround don't I. I've updated Galaxy's Last Stand to WIP 02. It's undergone an extensive reworking, including altering time signatures, keys and melodies. Personally I think it sounds a lot more polished.

Seeing as Galaxy City is set to be ravaged by Shivan meteorites, I've put together this little piece as an accompaniment to Galaxy's Last Stand.
Try to imagine BABs, Sister Psyche, Shadowstar, Coyote and Flower Knight watching horror as the FC building and Galaxy Girl's statue are wrecked by falling meteors, and then desperately battling the invaders in a vain attempt to stop Galaxy from falling apart around them.
This one starts out horrific and loud, denoting the devastation, then segues into a quiet section for the horror at the castrophic loss of life, I then tapped the melody from Jason Graves' Going Rogue theme for the heroes emotionally charged battle.
It is still a WIP at the moment, There are parts that need changing and expanding. At the moment its just give flavour of what I'm gunning for.
