The moment the orb had materialised, the Primogen's eyes widened in horror. He felt his blood burning. His veins began to throb and pulsate visibly beneath his skin. The immeasurable pain he went through more than 12,000 years ago was returning. His muscles tightened and he let out a howl of pain that shook the very foundations of the castle.
The agony had caused him to bend double. His concentration was near breaking point. His shrieks and moans were amplified by his immensely powerful and uncontrolled psionic emmanations. The castle shook. Books flew from shelves, glass shattered, and objects were hurled across the room. The air itself seemed to warp and shimmer around him.
The veil between realities was tearing and the Blood God was almost through. The Primogen could feel it. The blood that flowed through his veins belonged to the one that made him, the thing within the orb. The Blood God wanted it back.
Slowly he raised his eyes, which were now almost entirely red with blood. He extended his hand toward the Countess.
"Give... me.... the orb." he growled. -
The instant the Primogen heard the Countess' ethereal voice he knew precisely where she was. He headed to her office with such speed he may as well have teleported.
Quote:Come to my office and I will give you the latest information."
"Thrill me with your erudition." -
The Primogen materialised in the main hall. His long dead stomach lurched. He never liked teleportation, preferring to travel under his own steam. However neccessity forced him to endure. The Countess was not there to greet him, however she was nearby and would certainly hear him.
"Careless thoughts have informed me of a few things, but there are gaps. I understand you have declared open season on any who would hunt us. An offer any true predator cannot resist. I fathom there have been losses on both sides, but precisely who is unclear. Would I be correct in guessing that our would-be assassins have somehow bismirched this castle?" -
It had been weeks since the Primogen had been in the isles. His time had been spent searching for an item of his that he had thought lost to a cataclysm millennia ago. A small bronze dish, the very same dish used in the ritual that gave him his immortality. It had required considerable effort on his part to reaquire it; literally parting the ocean and moving a mountain... but he found it at last.
Upon returning to the moonlit Cap Au Diable he immediately sensed that something was amiss. He travelled across the city's rooftops, unseen by the keenest of eyes and unsensed by the sharpest of minds. He stopped not far from Castle Bathory. Here was the source of the unrest. Surrounding the castle was a nigh impenetrable sheild of dark magic. The ancient vampire rolled his eyes. 'What has she done now?' he thought to himself.
He swiftly leaped across to the castle, landing upon the sheildface. He felt its dark energies surging beneath his feet. The Countess had obviously gone to alot of effort to erect this sheild. Evidentally something had her spooked. He gave the sheild a psionic prod. It was very sturdy but he reckoned he might be able to penetrate it given time and effort. However, he was still exhausted from retrieving the bronze dish and and plus the Countess would hardly appreciate her defences being undermined. He decided it would be more productive to simply knock.
His hand hovered millimetres above the shieldface as he sent three small telekinetic bursts to gently resonate through the sheild. The Primogen had a few questions to ask of the Countess. -
A bucketful, no two bucketfuls of gratz to the winners.

*Waits patiently for the results*
Oooh, will we be able to peruse the rest of the entries? I'd love to see the other entrants work. -
I can play this game with few problems and my connection is nothing short of disgraceful. I'm paying for a 4Mb connection. The lines themselves can only handle 3Mb and I live right on the edge of my exchange radius. My average download speed is 128kbps, whereas my upload is 350kbps

Quote:Except it's the Science Pack that grants access to the Surgeon, not the Magic Pack. Though I'm guessing the OP has both.About half (if not more) the people that get the Magic Pack don't realize that "surgeons" are specific NPCs. I see this question repeatedly and often in Help Channel. Therefore, it was pretty safe to guess that you were also one of those people. It's called "covering your bases".

Go to your City of Heroes installation folder i.e. C:/Program Files/City of Heroes and rename cohupdater.exe to cohupdater.eu.exe

I agree that the music needs a revamp. Some tunes work for their particular zones, whereas others seem out of place or inappropriate. Cimerora is a great example of appropriate zone music.

Quote:I assure you, I am not the OP. I've already posted the track on the forums twice already, once as an mp3 download, and once for the video. There's no need for me to spam it even more. Now that you mention it, that does make sense. Darkkami was created in May (this month) with 1 post. Doesn't matter though, CoH music still needs an advance.
I am however working on the CoV theme, so expect to see that sometime soon. -
I run a DM/DA brute. DA is almost pure resistance and lacklustre at that. However it does have some nice tricks up its sleeve to aid survivability; Dark Regen, Cloak of Fear and if things really go sour a self rez in Soul Transfer.
That being said, because of it's relatively low resistances, its better paired with a high dps set like EM or DM, that way you kill things before they kill you. DM has Dark Consumption which really helps with End recovery, Touch of Fear, which stacks with Cloak of Fear allowing you to have bosses shaking like a jello pudding, and Soul Drain which provides a nice Dam/Acc buff.
On the other hand, EM has a few AoE's which when coupled with CoF make killing groups a lot quicker and easier. -
Quote:Glad you like it.He makes your music awesome. City of Heroes music needs some pizzaz. You might want to see if this fan will help in that department.

For all other fans that have not seen this epicness. Enjoy!!
I saw this video searching for a Thundercats orchestral theme. Made me come back and check the CoH progress. KUDOS guys 6 years...that makes you and Blizzard the only two teams to have an MMO survive past 04' without needing to go Free to Play or cancel the game. GRATS!!
I have renewed my sub thanks to this guys video. The youtube video on the re-inventing a super hero made me realize that Paragon IS the only gaming company that pushes what they can do with the money they receive, rather than do just what is required to keep subs flowing like blizzard does...either that or Blizzard can't program things that allow the community to interact (highly doubt this). As a Blizzard fanboy, concider these HUGE compliments to your company. You began with just 24 people!? That is even more amazing.
Another person that helped sell me back into this game was Samuraiko and her vids.
It is funny watching the artist over at Champions Online struggle with programing and handling the pressure that an MMO community brings. I wish them the best, but CoH, despite the out dated character models and some textures, is the ONLY real superhero game out on the market that catches the essence of comics such as Crisis on Infinite Earths, Secret Invasion, and soon Civil War.
So thanks guys for not settling for mediocrity and instead striving for uniqueness and programming advances. -
Here's my entry, though I'm not entirely sure I got it in on time.
I was gunning for a post-war soviet feel, but with a golden sheen to reflect the apparent perfection of Praetoria. I tried to get an almost art-deco flavour to it. I'd hoped to have the Cole artwork looking a bit more Bruce Timm style, but it looks ok as it is.
Loyalty is the theme and what better way to remind people than the two great symbols of the empire.
-
Actually, it is. ...well, partly. Edirol for the brass, timpani and spiccato strings, EWQL Symphonic for the rest of the strings. Stormdrum for the drums.
-
Like I said in the OP, I composed an orchestral version of the CoH login theme.
-
A few days ago I posted my orchestral version of the CoH login theme. Yesterday I threw together a little music video comprised of the various cinematic trailers to go with it. It's nothing special, I just thought I'd share.

Mine was Fire Control/Invulnerability as opposed to my DM/DA. He happily tanked Ajax while I took out he projectors. He still had 2/3 health when I'd finished and was gleefully setting Ajax's nostril hair on fire.

Quote:Hehe, I knew the ePeen thing would be brought up eventually. It's a valid point. It is likely that some 'i r pwnz0r u' type will attempt to assert himself.Terrible idea. Sorry, but with that many cosmic levels chars in one place, the chances of any plot turning into an ePeen waving contest increase exponentially.
Perhaps a better idea is having these cosmic/extra-powerful characters stripped of their power and forced to confront some obstacle as mere mortals. -
Such as that early morning tangy stuff that looks like liquid amber?
On a slightly more serious note, I do find it odd the choice of words that are filtered in chat. I did an experiment the other day whereby a friend and I both turned the filter on and preceeeded to fire off as many expletives and risque words as we could think of.
The result was unexpected. Some words got filtered on my chat but not on my friends. These tended to be the names of certain body parts.
I'm also annoyed you can't say "***" in AE arcs. What if you happened to be referring to the equine hybrid?
How about a male chicken? Sure I could use the word "rooster", but what if I want to make a purile arc full of innuendo and double entendre? -
Just a thought, it might be intriguing to have an IC plot specifically based on our cosmic/uber/overpowered characters. For example each is plucked from whatever they're doing and placed in a sort of cosmic therapy session overseen by some other even greater cosmic entity. They have their interactions then when they leave they're placed exactly where and when they were taken from.
I dunno, it might be of some small amusement. -
I have a couple of characters that can be considered CP.
One of them is The Knightmare. He is, quite literally, fear made flesh. The concept is that over eons all phobic emotion since the dawn of consciousness coalesced into a semi-sentient entity called the Phobos Omniscia. It's still passive though, existing as the fears of other beings, nothing more, nothing less. To mere mortals (and many immortals) it would appear to be supremely intelligent, however as omni-dimensional beings go the Phobos Omniscia is much like a curious child. This curiosity led it to create an avatar; the Knightmare, in order to exist in the physical plane.
The Knightmare has the potential for world conquering influence, capable of playing the planets population like puppets, however that potential has yet to be reached (and never will be in the lifespan of the game). The avatar needs to maintain its physical cohesion and gain power by drawing fear from the indiginous consciousnesses.
What I have to make clear is that I'm playing within the avatars limits, not the cosmic entity's. I purposefully gave the character traits that can be replicated in game (minor imbellishments notwithstanding). Being a DM/DA brute, the fear powers are covered. Knights is capable of making characters like Statesman tremble before him (he can and has done this in-game). The AT's hp and damage output replicate the indestructible nature of his form and more importantly, that he's bound the laws of the physical universe. Whilst he is technically indestructible, he can be defeated temporarily by destabilising his physical form i.e. hit him hard enough and often enough. The result is that ultimately he is no more powerful than an above average meta, in a purely physical sense.
The dodgy part is interacting with other RPers. Knights has the power to tap into the Phobos Omniscia and access the deepest fears of anyone. This is something I personally am very careful with and ensure that inteactions of this sort are entirely with the consent of the other player(s). Pocket D's McGuffin of power supression has proved to be quite handy excuse for his power not to work, but that's only in PD. Lately I've tied the magnitude of this ability with the level of power he's acquired. So he's capable of making your average thug die of fright, but only succeed in making Rularuu a little bit anxious, certainly not enough to make any difference in combat.
In all honesty though I find him a bit dull to RP, as he's more a situational character and needs a good plot to make his psychological nature shine. -
Quote:I can send you the mp3 if it still isn't working. Feel free to use it any upcoming projects you may have. Now THAT was impressive. I tried to download it but it's still 'processing', apparently. Very very cool!

I'm an illustrator by trade, music is just a hobby for me, I have no intention of making a career out of it. I'm entirely untrained. I do it simply because I enjoy it. -
Quote:Thankee kindly. I had thought about approaching Samuraiko/Dark Respite about some possible collaboration.very cool EK! I, too, chose to add to the rep.
It seems like your scoring might work for some of the fan videos. Have you thought of offering it for such?
