Quote:I'm still being the same as I was at the start. To be fair everyone's attitudes in this thread have started to deteriorate.
Though now it's seeming like I'm going to end up getting even more annoyed, if peoples view is "Your RP should have no impact on my RP, even if I can join in and influence it in the form of an open RP thread, yet I've chosen to ignore that opportunity.".
For example, no heroes in the thread bothered to search the school for survivors (which kinda shocked me) instead focusing on the big robot, which would of reduced the casualties.
Problem is CB, not everyone wants to be involved in every plot, they might not like what's behind it or how it's being done or whatever, RPing is a shared experiance, it's not just one persont elling others what happens, its interactive storytelling.
The problem comes when you get to teh point where characters can no longer ignore events in plots they don't want to take aprt in, Open Season for example is the whole Hunters vs The things they've been hunting, those people without characters invovlved on either side have had no reason to check up on it.
Then suddenly they get hit by somthing they can ignore, and it's impclciations remove both your characer, the entire SG in terms of the court and possibley even bring the Nighthunters in for questioning on how thier private war was allowed to escalate thus far.
Now I may not be a fan of The Court, but efectivly having the entire community put them on global ignore? It's a bit far. -
Quote:As I pointed out, not everyone pays attention to every Open RP thread, this was the first many had heard about it.Wrong.
CB, thanks for the forum RP, it was fun. Good luck with these lot, seems you'll need it. I'm off to play some games.
No need for that kind of attitude Pious. -
I think floaty, the evnts they're refering to happened in the Open RP thread thing.
You know that no one who wasn't involved in the Open Season plot had any reason to go anywhere near? -
Quote:No Pious, actions on this scale would lead to Tomb being killed and the Court being torn apart by almost every group (Villian and Hero) in the game.I am sure CB did not intend his Saint John plot to grow beyond the scope of the groups already involved and a few other characters witnessing the atrocity. If it's decided that the atrocity of 850 dead, including children would spark an all-out global investigation, and ultimately the incarceration of Tomb, then either one, so be it, or two, retcon the scale.
There's a line and it was crossed. -
And I provided and abridged list of people who'd respond.
The real list includes just about every faction and group in the game universe capable of responding.
Arachnos doesn't go that far. -
To explain CB, this isn't like the Jokers latest scheme that Batman has to foil, what you've done and pulled is a massive crisis crossover event type thing.
And as much as they might want to characters can't ignore those, like the idocy of Countdown that the entire DC line had to suffer through. -
You've done reasonable Supervillianly before CB, when Baron eterinty attacked Steel Canyon with Dinsours.
That was some prety big supervilllany without cuasing world shattering damage or altereations.
Ultimatly though we can't change the game world, so the Supervillians plot to turn the world into monkies must fail, but by the same token the supervillian must escape to try again another day.
Our characters have no choice but to react to this, just as you would have no chocie but to acknowledge if someone blew up a building in your hometown.
And that's where it goes too far CB, we can't write it off as reasonable background event, we can't just ignore it, because it's so much bigger and more terrible then anything else.
And this is why I've been avoiding RP meets with you CB, because I can't just write your characers out of reality, yet I've quite frankly had enough of them, and of things like this.
ETA: And come on guys, as argumentative and annoying as I am, you know in the end I'm jsut looking out for the fun RP for everyone, oh and trying to keep consistant with lore! -
Being somewhat of a Lore Hog I feel compelled to point out that CB's event here would be the most devistatign single attack since the Rikti war.
This is the kind of thing that would Mobilise the Freedom Phalanx, Dawn Patrol, Vindicatres, Longbow, Hero Corps, Wyvern and if it's magic related the Midnigth Squad.
Not to mention even some villian groups or individual villians would think this is too far, I for one can see Crey jumping onto this to garner some good publicity.
Simpley put, the approprate in game responce would be things way beyond our simple RP powers, it's kinda a Dev scale world altering event.
So yea, say what you want, but in my humble opinion somthing of this scale we shouldn't be doing, it changes the world too much. Of course it doesn't help that there's a fine line between big plot and world changing plot, to use Techs Arachnos invasion as an example, it was a concentrated bout of Arachnos activity that did some symbolic damage as was driven back.
That's belivable and doesn't shatter the balance of how things are in the world, heck the fact that the Freedom Phalanx spawns in Recluses Victory to try and fight helps in that matter :P
But yea, somthing this scale would have an approriate scale responce we can't simulate, unless you want the Court to be finished off screen or somthing? -
The actual population required to support Preatoria City is much lower then you'd expect, given thier tech level,a fter all you've got hordes of cheap robotic labour and vast anti-matter reactors providing power after all.

Quote:(Ah hah, mutliquote mastery go!)No shields with the energy blaster, as for assault rifle it's an assault rifle that can shoot napalm and has a flame thrower, the Arachos soldier one has more realistic attachments.
Well you don't really need shields, I mean blasters do just fine without them, I quite enjoy blasters really.
You also don't have to take Flamethrower and so on with AR, leaving you with more regualr gunrelated powers then the Soldier has.
I was just trying to illutrate poptarts point of what takes precidence, that being somthing that fits in with the established lore and works very well with what we can see in game takes precidence over somthing which does not. -
Quote:Sorry for the double post.Yes yes, if they don't follow your rules, they can't play in your sandbox and share your juice boxes. And if they bring their own legos? Well, you'll just go tell your mommy...then they'll be in trouble, eh?
But ahem, if you have a choice between Rping between two characters who are otehrwise identical aside from one is a rookie hero working to avenge the death of his mentor from the Rikti wars, and the other is the illigitimate child of Lord Recluse and Ghost Widow, which are you going to RP with huh? -
Quote:Uh Tech, did you miss the fact we can customise guns to a whole variety of different models now meaning you can have an AR Blaster/Corruptor without having the fraken gun?Want a gunman that has, y'know, actual body armour? Or a gun that isn't some horrible franken-gun mess of all sorts of crap? Well, you pretty much either cant', OR you use a Soldier of Arachnos.
As for a Light blaster, what's wrong with recolouring engery blast? -
Uh? Kheldians don't splinter like that, the 'forms' are the shapes of previous hsots teh symbiote has ahd and is able to create an energy based duplicate of.
Thus if you want a Human Form onlu PB/WS simpley have your character be the first host, problem solved, fits with the lore, no need to worry about more zany solutions. -
I currently have Delta Psi, Mutant gunslinger former refugee with a bone to pick with authority, three guessess which side she's on :P
And at some point I'm going to roll up Loyalist Susan Bright, if you thought regular Sue was bad enough, you ain't seen nothing yet :P -
Nah, for that to work in universe, it'd be like a Minbari walking around saying "no really, I'm a Vorlon" on B5.
-
Quote:Worth noting that most of the people you're arguing with have no access to Virtue :PAnd now I'm reminded...I don't have any characters on Virtue...well, I just rolled up an old character I thought up that used a Kinetic fighting style...now that we have it, I actually did roll him up on Virtue but now I'm pondering just transfering him somewhere else.

But as explained, at the end of the RWZ arc (TF nonewithstanding, but then like the STF you can't really count the LGTF to have happened) the RWZ state makes perfect sence as even fter teh LGTF they still ahve a working motherhsip and ample forces to keep raiding, which they do, nothing in the arc takes away this capability,r educed thier troop serngth, opens upa civil war sure, doesn't stop them from raiding though.
-
Perhaps, though one thing that we do know is the Midnighter arc happened, ebcause issues after it have added more content based on those arcs having been successful, threfore teh Midnigther arc has by your definition happened, so the inkling of the Lost Rikti connection in addition to the Traditonalists being good guys does indeed seem to be out there now, unless you're saying they'd somehow keep the Lost Cure a secret?
Not to mention, if the arcs are happening at teh same time as each other or one slightly before or after the other, when we have other issues pumping out arcs related it must mean that by your logic the RWZ arcs have happened. -
You're kinda forgetting the most key character in the entire arc.
Really how you missed them I'll never know, but here I'll enlighten you;
The Hero, who at the stage in the career this mission unlocks, is only jsut out of the rookie fighting Hellions stage, so if a Rookie hero is treated as knowing these things as a matter of course (Things here being defined as The Traditionalsits being good guys and not Richards, and teh Lost being Humans transforemd into Rikti) it's reasonable to assume the knowledge is not that uncommon. -
Yet nearly everyone seems to know in thata rc that the Lost and Humans being converted into Rikti, which is Omega elvel clearance, teh ebst selling novel mentioend only indicates the Rikti traditalists are good guys adn that Nemesis started the war, doesn't reveal the Rikti are humans thing.
-
So how'd Lady Jane get Hero One's blood post RIktifictation then? Y'know, one of the key parts of that there arc.
And there is a differencence between mutal non agression and active aid in curing a plague that converst your people into thiers. -
From my delving into the archives it seems that highly complex fully 'Artifical lfieforms' you know the kind of free will posessing sentiant thought capable AI's in robotic shells are apparently treated as human beings, while 'dumb' none free thinking 'goonbots' are just treated as machinary.
-
Are we going to keep shifting the goalposts here CB?
I found evidence that supports my claima nd fits in your requirments for making it canon, simpley put the Devs seem to treat everything that has happened ina previous issue as having happened, they don't get onto dealing with what comes next right away but i clearly happened, so saying an event six issues ago didn't happen srikes me as being silly. -
Trouble is CB, the end of teh Rikti warzone arc and TFs results in teh same situation in the warzone you see today.
That being the Linage of War doing it's damndest as teh Restructurist faction to wipe out Paragon or pursuade the rest of the Rikti they're right, while the traditionalists (The by far smaller faction) have made peace with Humanity and are trying to stop the Linage in a civil war type scenario.
The only information that would be common knowledge from all this is that there are some Rikti who are good guys and possibley the Nemesis is behind the war.
Now, you speak of having somthing in game to show this? Well what of the lvl 10 Midnighter entry arc? That quite happily shows you right away the lost are working for the rikti and are infact behind it all, for the mission to be given at such a low level that seems like pretty common knoweledge and it fits your requirments. -
T'would help if you could tell us if you were on the EU or US servers, as it'd help us out a fair bit by knowing who's eligable :P
