Aye, and if I have a character at Agnicourt, isn't that just more of a nice plothook to add more potential RP goodness to your plot anyway? I see it more as an advantage and way to make things better, or least to reach understanding with someone rather then view it as an obstical stopping you from doing things as you want.
Our plots should always be dismissable, or not world threatening, like the recent Arachnos/LOyalists cuffle, it had a lot of particpants but was ultimatly smaller scale then the Canonical Arachnos Raids into Preatoria so it all fitted, with people being able to not take part if they didn't want to, and if they heard it in conversation tehy can go "Ah, that sounds reasonable". -
Quote:The road that train of thought leads down ends in "Why do we even RP in this game anyway?" though CB.To be fair, saying you are working at X canon location is a bit iffy in the first place.
I myself see no problem with saying someone works somewhere or lives somewhere so long as (And this is the important bit) it's within reason and that's the key part here. -
As if I needed more reason to despise Vigilante's, the point stands, there are thousands of generic bases for villian groups out there, however if you refer to a -specific- one that someoen has a character workng at and then -specifically- state you killed everyone there, good job, you just godmode killed thier character.
-
Well the issue is, how can it have happened? I mean Kings Row and Steel Canyon are fine, untouched, unblemish and not referenced as in any way tarnished aside from there.
So our choice is to either say it hasn't happened yet or to say Paragon has the best reconstruction crew ever.
And I'm all for you referencing events from missions as IC things Korny, just on the understanding of that's not exactly how it happened, a mission has you go into a section of a base on Sharkshead, doesn't mean you have to run into character x even f they're on duty.
Saying you blew up the entirity of the fort and made sure everyone who worked there was dead however, is a bit much. -
If you're going to counter me with the "Everything in game is -exactly- how it happens" card Korny I shall riposite with the "This means a group of thugs with regular pistols are the msot powerful force in the universe" card.
-
Fans isn't saying that just because Char x lives in y you can't do -any- plot without consulting them, he means that certian big massive world changing plots (The kind we shouldn't really be running anyway) arn't really fair, to use your example.
"I blew up the Arachnos base in sharkshead and killed everyone in it" would be bad while
"I broke a hostage out of there" would be fine and lead to the amusing exchange:
"Oh yea, well if I had been on duty you wouldn't have got away with that" -
Sorry Dante, if a Mod would be so kind as to rip out our silly argument and stick it in it's own thread I think we'd all be eternally greatful
But sorry again (Man I'm apologising so much today) -
Kings Row, Crab Encounter
Quote:Mirel stepped off the drone, already shrugging her shoulders as she completed limbering herself up for the fight, itd be a toughie for sure, a giant crab-esq Warstrider if her guess was accurate, not something most people could take on foot. The Drone continued to grumble but landed at the designated area, just as all the attacks landed on the crab creature's exposed weakspot.
She allowed herself a little smile as she pressed her back against a wall, as close as she dared to be to the massive hail of pink bullets filling up the street.
Lucky for me, the scions of House Cathak are not most people She said aloud to herself just before the stream of bullets stopped and she hurled herself out into the road, sprinting towards the metal monstrosity.
The giant enemy crab charged forwards as well, swinging its remaining pincer as the distance between them rapidly closed, the timing here would have to be perfect. Just in time Mirels acute senses picked up the claw about to descend on where she was about to be, this was her signal.
Just before the young Dragonblooded could be crushed however, the ground around her erupted as though a water spout had suddenly broke through the ground at her feet (Though an inspection once it had passed showed no damage) propelling her diagonally up towards the crab, neatly missing the crushing claw as she spun in the air, extending her gauntlets blades as she thrust her hands out ready for impact.
KLANG! Metal struck metal and the blades bit deep, lodging themselves firmly in the metallic shell, somewhere below the crabs mouth, holding Mirel there for now as she assessed the situation.
Hmmm . I was expecting there to be a door or a hatch or something for me to enter by She said to herself again as she dangled by her arms, Well maybe theres some kind of weak point I can att-
Rather quickly she noticed the rather large glaring weak point, and very carefully extracted one set of claws from the crab, embedding it a bit further down before repeating with the other arm, making her way along the underside of the crab towards the weak point with this very unusual method of motion. -
It's probably due to the mindset, I think we somtimes forget that not only Unionites use these forums anymore, or at least some of us.
So once again, apologies, and lets get back to beating up a giant robot crab -
On consideration, it was a pretty poor failure in communication on our side of the whole thing, and so far that on behalf of those responsible (Which includes me) I offer my sincerest apologies for all this mess, and hope it won't detract from the fun we were all having in The Crossing.
We are also, perhaps, getting a little off topic here, so lets not have this boil over into an argument proper shall we? Some people failed to communicate properly, and that caused some issues, sorry again guys. -
The issue with The Crossing is we have the potential (And I know at least one person doing some planning involing) vast World/Universe/Multiverse altering plots, which folks on the Unionverse who don't check/frequent the forums/that thread wouldn't feel that nice about being forced to acknowledge the undead necormancer who set up an icey throne in the middle of Perez Park.
I'm pretty sure none of us like to be Godmodded do we? Which is why it's only fair not to godmode other people.
It's reasons like this widescale plots take a lot of time and effort on Union, informing everyone about it, getting it roling, not having it limited to the forums and all, but even then we're still limited as we can't change certian things about the world.
And given how Kings Row is a popular place to live and work for many people and a Giant Robot Crab has leveled a small chunk of it, how do you think people would feel if you just slipped into conversation:
"Oh yea, that part of the Row got Wrecked pretty good"
When the other person might not know about it. Having many people sharing the same background has it's upsides and it's downsides, and this is one of the latter. -
Well -a- Unionverse.
If the regular Unionverse were Universe 616, then The Crossing Unionverse is Univer 615/617. So alas it's not quite the same sort of thing I'm afraid Devious :P -
Until you actually get access to Union there's little reason to do any IC meeting at this stage I'd say, especially since the universe our characters are in is very different to the universe your characters are in currently :P
-
While heroside is the more popular, there is definatly not a lack of villian RP out there, be it in bases, PD or just recently an IC bank robbery.
Though that said there are noticabley less people that I see villianside, at least for spontenious RP, but with a little OOC planning you'd be surprised how many villians come out of the woodwork. -
Quote:Somwhere Above Skyway City"Fine, fine...was waiting to see if you were going to get eaten but it doesn't look like the case..."
"Hold on hefty McLargehuge..."
All told it was quite exhilarating really, the wind whipping her hair behind her like a banner as she soared high over the city having passed over the flickering blue walls with ease. She nudged her feet into a little more secure position the last thing she wanted to do was fall off before she was ready that would be embarrassing.
Now, why dont you stop your complaining? You should be honoured to be my mount, now we must be getting close I think I see smoke over there
Mirel pointed a little to the left of their current heading, almost there, she just hoped that no one else was going to finish off this thing before she got there, that would be quite embrassing. -
Talos Island
Quote:Well, two things about that; One you dont have any silver tattoos and Two you dont have a glowing forehead. Therefore its reasonable to assume youre not a evil soul stealing abomination and instead are just a giant talking river dragon or god or something"You were so eager to know what abomination is Kri's master just a moment ago. Am I not abominable enough for your tastes...?"
Mirel once more tapped her foot on the flying drones head, rather impatently.
While on the other hand theres some sort of giant monster potentially killing people over in this Kings Row, it seemed a bit more important, to me anyway, to go sort that problem first -
Talos Island
Quote:Mirel assumed the best defensive stance that she could while balanced on the back of the hovering drone; reasonably sure she was safe as she doubted this sea monster had any form of hitting her at this range.A large fish still struggled between its teeth for the few moments before being snapped up completely and gulped down, and then the beast turned its amber eyes to Mirel...
Well prince, lord, daimyo, whatever they call the city ruler, though as I appear to have outstayed my welcome here, I think Id best be getting to helping those people
She clanged her booted foot a few times against the drone, resulting in a nice clanging sound.
Come on now, yip yip, fly me to Kings Row already
Mirel cursed silent to herself, hoping that her ride would soon be hurtling her far away, preferably before she got into a fight with these beastmens pet river dragon or things started to look embarrassing for her just stood here not moving. -
Talos Island
Quote:Mirel carefully considered a response for several seconds, not liking the odds of this engagement at all; the forces surrounding her were very good at their stealth and seemed to be well equipped enough to make the Power Armoured squads of Lookshy jealous. In a fair fight shed loose, which of course meant she had to play a different game or at least find a distraction."As to my commanding abomination," a slightly malicious chuckle came through the modulator, and the individual's head turned to the nearby water, "that would be the great flying stomach swimming around down there right now. But maybe I'm being unfair. He didn't get a chance to feed after we landed, and he did make a gate large enough for all of us, which I do know takes a not insignificant amount of energy..."
As if on cue one of Dr Mechanos drones, a flying variant designed for rapidly disseminating his various messages taunts and pranks from the looks of it, practically fell out of the sky its engines whirring to life at the last second to halt the drop before it impacted (which knowing its creator would have resulted in a not too inconsiderable explosion). It hung there for a second as the engine whirring died down enough for it to begin warbling in its semi-piratical tone about some disaster at the Kings Row.
While she only really caught half of what the drone was saying, the corner of Mirels mouth twitched into a smirk. This was perfect, but it would require a gamble to pull of, but then gambling was her forte.
With a slight movement the blades on her gauntlets retreated to their hidden state, and acting as though she hadnt noticed the camouflaged troops, Mirel launched herself into the air as if her armour were as light as a feather spinning a few times before landing atop of the drone, riding it as if it were a surfboard.
Well, you heard this message bringer, it sounds like the King needs his Row saving, and as Im going to need to see him anyway why dont we go and make an entrance mmm? There is room for one more on this after all
She even held out a hand to offer the Shaman a hand up onto the drone that had started grumbling to itself, letting her mind wander as she waited for his reply. The perfect chance to not only gain reputation with this city but to shore up her rather sagging reputation back home, a giant beast slain, a city brought back into the fold and a beastman shaman with her to either be an ally or handed in to the King for extra reputation if it turned out he was a trouble maker. -
Quote:Talos Island, Paragon City"And what should I think?" the armor's electronic tone queried rhetorically, "I didn't even say anything at all..."
The sound of an unexpected voice cause Mirel to snap almost instantly into a defensive stance, her gauntlets extending the up until now hidden blades (almost looking like wickedly long sharp teeth of the dragon styled decoration on them) the second she saw the figure was armoured.
She focused her Essence towards her senses; the world seeming to slow down a little as all the little details jumped forward, the intricate advanced nature of the presumably reptilian beastman in front of her to the faint hubbub of noise from across the city.
You should think about telling me who you are, where you got that armour is, where we are and which abomination is your master Mirel stated in a firm level voice with just a hint of righteous anger, the irises boring into the armoured figure looking almost like miniature storm wracked oceans, Answering quickly would be best, I would hate to have to damage such valuable armour, it would b-
She didnt get the chance to finish, her Essence boosted sense picking up a very faint crash from somewhere on the other side of the city, it had to have been big and huge for her to have heard it, though for the armoured figure she was threatening it probably just seemed as though she snapped her head to the side to listen to nothing. -
Meanwhile, Elsewhere Elsewhen...
In retrospect perhaps today hasnt been the best day Cathak Mirel grumbled to herself as she trudged through the blistering desert, her heavy black armour causing her misery two fold; both causing her boots to sink a little into the loose sandy grains that made up the ground in this forsaken place and the shiny black plates, that while put together in the style of lamellar armour (though custom shaped to allow her to at least hint at her curves while wearing it) was made from much more durable mystic jade, served only to absorb more of that accursed suns heat.
She paused for breath, grateful that her men had long since fled so she wouldnt have to show such weakness in front of them. The thought of their retreat from the battle caused a very nasty looking snarl to obscure her otherwise picturesque face; the fools had run from a lowly peasant rabble lead by an idiotic low born Outcaste, elite troops indeed, she would be having words with her uncle about them.
Or at least I will be when I get out of this Dragons forsaken desert She said as she brought up a gauntleted hand to wipe the sweat off her brow, managing to stop herself just in time before the hot gauntlet did something like sear the etching of a dragons head that decorated them onto her otherwise flawless skin, the story of which would no doubt make her the laughing stock at Dynastic parties for the next century. That was the last thing she needed, her reputation among the Great Houses was hanging by a thread, she needed some grand victory or great find soon or her rather generous income would soon find itself diminished.
Aware she was staring into the back of her gauntlet, and had been doing for the last few minutes, Mirel swiftly moved her hand to flick some of her long back hair aside (More out of habit to make it seem like she meant to do something rather then actual worry that someone was watching her) and found some solace in the fact there was still the hint of it not being dry yet, as though she had been swimming not too long before, showing she still at least had the grace of the Water Dragon to support her.
With renewed vigour she set her ocean blue eyes (which had the occasional hint of a wave to their colour) on the cave entrance that was now only a scant few hundred yards away, she was going to wait there until nightfall and then make her way back to the encampment. With purpose restored she trudged her booted foot out of the sand a put it firmly on thin air wait what?
Talos Island, Paragon City
With no time to react Mirel found herself tumbling through a very brief rip in the multiverse, tumbling head over heals until she landed on her armour plated backside on a grass little hill somewhere near to where she could hear the sea. Quickly she got to her feet and recomposed herself, while relived to find herself near a beach of some kind and the oppressive desert heat now only a bad memory, new and rather more pressing problems had replaced them; such as the vast strange city she saw stretched out before her (which if her initial guess was right outsized the Imperial City itself by several orders of magnitude) framed by vast blue flickering walls of some kind.
I didnt even say it couldnt get much worse why do you have to pre-empt me Universe? She said quietly to herself as she attempted to get her bearings, hoping that shed at least be able to do that much before something or someone interrupted her. -
I've got no logs to send I'm afraid Random, but I can go through how I pulled it off.
Step One: Poke everyone I know, and OOC channels to see who'd be interested abotua week ro two in advance, and settle on the day that msot can make it.
Step Two: Assemble in the Vanguard breifing room and then just give whatever style breifing you want to, in mine I jsut gave an overview of the raid objectives.
Step Three: ???
Step Four: Enjoy the RP as everyone winds down after a sucessful raid. -
Y'know I actually organised an IC Mothership raid once.
It was quite fun. -
See this is where the generic "Somthing happened" comes in like I suggested!
Y'know all the wya back in the first few posts >.> -
Personally I'd go for some kind of vauage initial/scout/testing attack of somekind, somthing that happened but we don't really go into the details of.
Also this would open up multiple runs of said TFs, as it's just another batch of scouting/testing attacks from Preatoria, best of all worlds I'd say there. -
I think we've talked all we can about Incarnates yea, maybe a new thread or two discussing some propisitions to try and integrate EU/US and/or Union troubles maybe, but I think all the Incarnate questions itself was answered a while back.
