  1. Awwwww yay for Pyro! And don't feel too bad about your old system... it did the trick for a while. Of course now it can go in the lake next to mine... when I actually get up the balls to throw mine in the lake... it's gonna happen, just wait!

When you're done overdosing on awesome computery goodness, be sure to tell us all the nifty surprises in big bold and caps and extra fun stuff to showcase how high you are on electronics!
  2. I'll come along for this. Sign up Evil Syberia, lvl 22 bots/FF MM please!

This schedule is not set in stone. If new Events or TF's come out while we are still on it, I'll squeeze those into the schedule as well.

This round will be much slower than the previous two rounds, but I'm really excited about it, and I hope you all will be too =)

Any comments, questions and suggestions are welcome. I may not do everything you all ask of me, but I'll still listen and consider it

Ah! Faathim is on my birthday! Does that mean I get to stand around while the Horde dances and sings before we start? :P

It even plays a custom audio clip that I pieced together from the theme song when I turn it on and the bit "have no place I can be since I found Serenity, but you can't take the Sky from meeeee" when I shut it down.

And if you think that is over the top... I also replaced most of the windows sounds with Firefly quotes too, if the system ever has a critical fail (program crashes) River says... " Also, I can kill you with my brain" hehe.

Yeah you could say I'm a browncoat.

all this love for Firefly.... Not that I blame you. I'm a big Joss Whedon fan. From Buffy to Angel to Firefly to Dollhouse... He's done good stuff! And it's fun how all his characters seem to intermingle between all his shows. heh

As for the monitors, I can totally understand having six... I would definitely not say no to having six.... But then again, my rig would probably implode and create a wormhole if I asked it to think about running two monitors. lol
  5. This could be the dumb question... but what is the bonus to using six monitors, when you can just use one giant one? Like I do.
  6. I didn't even think about the Rectified Reticle in there. That's got my S/L def sitting at 38.9 now. I switched around PP and three slotted it with Numina's for the + regen and hp, and I changed out to the performance shifters like you suggested in Stamina and QR. Regen is at 754% netting 70.9 HP per second and recovery is at 3.98 per second.

Of course, I still have to get the accolades and hit 50 for this, but so far I think I'm liking this build to work for!

Anything else anyone can see, or would do differently?

  7. I went overkill on edurance because so far at 30 with QR and Stamina slotted, my endurance still drops out. With Hasten on, and not slotting my powers for end redux, I'm cycling through attacks fast, but run out quick. It's not so bad teaming wise, especially with a kin, but I tend to run low none the less. Plus, I had all the powers I wanted and had two slots left so I went with it and said "Meh, never have to worry about that!" lol

And yes, I skipped a travel power because it is a natural themed toon. With Ninja run/swift/and sprint going, I have no problems navigating the long distances.

Even though I team, I tend to like to build my toons as if they were soloers so that I'm not relying on other people to keep me alive. If I'm on a team with buffs, it's just more gravy. But if I'm not, I'm still ok. I do a lot of PuG'ing so I never know what the other people on my team are bringing.

As to CP Vs FA, I didn't realize FA provide to hit debuff as well. I have never used either, and just saw on Mids that FA only provided a 5% to hit buff unslotted and didn't think it was that worth it. But, now that I know, I'll swap that back around. Thanks!
  8. So I finally found a scrapper that I like, in the DB/WP category. Currently, my scrapper is sitting at level 30. I'm about to have a week off and plan to take her all the way to 50 during that week. So, I'm trying to work on a build for her. Posted below is what I came up with, based on the guides I've read and my experience with IO's. I'm not phenominal at building, which is why I am turning to you all now.

My goal was to increase recharge, and regen, and defense. I think I did ok with it... but I don't know if I'm missing any holes here or not. For those of you more familiar with the numbers aspect, can you tell if this build would perform well? I mostly team, but have enjoyed soloing with this toon. I even have a slight itch to think about turning her into an AV killer... maybe... lol

I know that quite a bit of these IO's are highly priced, but I have a pretty good supply of influence to work with...

Any feedback on my build would be greatly appreciated!!

EDIT: And I know the levels of my slots are a bit ridiculous... I haven't re-arranged this for levelling yet, just plucked down slots where I wanted them to end up. Once I figure out my final slotting I'll fix it for levelling/exemping.

  9. Yeah, I thought the world was ending back in the early 90's when I saw frost for like five minutes.... yeek!
  10. Yeah, no snow here either. Like, ever. I love Florida!

It was in the 40's this morning though... I actually had to forego shorts today in favor of jeans! The tragedy of it all!!! :O

I've got a couple to work on too... My WS is 35, my blaster is 32, and my scrapper is almost 24. I want to get them all to 50 and then work on my widow and MM who are in the 20's. That's my goal before GR comes out. Then I'll start with all new characters.
  12. Well guys, this will be my last post... once I'm done, my ancient Dell is going into the lake. Thanks CR.

Pyro, I hope you enjoy your beast of a machine... GR should be quite an exciting time for you!

Awesome! I saw the schedule you had, and assumed that was how you did it. I'm excited! I might ACTUALLY get all the badges for the TF's on one toon! heh

    Thanks for the response!
  14. Luna, do you usually run the TF's in order of level? Or do you hop around? I haven't gotten in on the Monday night ones much, so I'm not sure how you guys usually handle them.

I would like to run with you all on Monday nights though, so please go ahead and add me as a permanent. If we are running them in order, then I'll bring along Project-Willow, my 20 something scrapper for these. If not, I'll bring along a 50 when there's one too high for her.
  15. You're still doing better than I am, Caemgen.
  16. That's insane... I won't even report what mine gets currently as it's well below the lowest admitted number so far... I would probably never turn the game off if I was getting that kind of response....

But I have to question... is that the framerate with all the bells and whistles of the game on full? If it is, I am immediately sinking my computer into the lake behind my apartment building.
  17. For a while there, when I first went to my control panel, it showed a listing of the last few points of rep I received and the posts they were from. But that section just disappeared out of nowhere. I too was wondering how to see this again. I hope this isn't the only way to do it.... sounds intensive to me... lol
  18. Yay for you Pyro! I can imagine how excited you are!
  19. I definitely like B better. The lights would be fun for about an hour and then I'd be annoyed. lol

The more I read this, the more I wish it were my computer being built. Why does February have to be so far away???

CR or Pyro, when this is said and done, are you going to be shocking us with the ballpark cost for this beast? Ya know, in case anyone else was thinking of attacking CR for his services.... Not that I would, just wondering...
  20. I know you can rotate the camera around your toon if you hold page up and then use the arrow keys left or right. I think that should let you rotate the way you are wanting to if you use the up and down keys instead, but not sure... never done it myself.

edit: snap, got beat to my response!

I think recommended is what I play on... I don't enable the fancy stuff, just the basics. I play it one tick above the minimum. I think it's like, performance, recommended, quality, and high quality? Recommended gets real laggy but I like being able to SEE what my toons look like from time to time. If I go past that, I'm lucky to get 1 frame per day on my machine.

    Ahhh...the wonderful Dell Dimension 8100

    Purchased in 2001.
    Intel(R) Premium(R) 4 CPU 1300 MHz
1.28 GHz, 1.25 GB of RAM (this is only after I added 2 sticks of 512...AFTER I had already been playing CoH a year).

I also added/upgraded to ATI Radeon 9550 vidcard (but something tells me that I have never gotten the full benefits from it).

So basically, you know the graphics slider in the game...the one that mentions "recommended"? Yeah, right!!! I have only used that "selection" in order to grab screenshots for reference of characters. I HAVE to play on the lowest graphic selection there is, AND tweak the other goodies down to practically ZERO.

Remember back in the good old days of the original Hami Raids? My first level 50 was an Illusion Controller, so I was often asked to join the "phase teams" that did the initial distraction runs. The lag was SOOooo bad, I couldn't keep up in the runs when it was my turn to go again. Team leaders hated me...and I hated that I couldn't participate when larger groups were involved (ran 2 Hami Raids in 5 years...and really didn't get to see the ones I did).

Zone PvP?...forget it. As long as there were only a few people in the zone, and spread out...I could do it. Larger events...lag kills everytime.

A good friend of mine that I introduced to the game was visiting, and wanted to check out the game from "my point of view". I managed to jump on a team of 7, several controllers (so you know graphics wise...I'm screwed).

He was speachless at first when he witnessed the lag, but then summed it up perfectly. "Wow...that looks like an impressive power point presentation!" We still laugh about that today.

So you see...THIS is why I'm having CR do it right. I love this game (my wife has mixed emotions), and I can't see myself continuing to enjoy it at the levels that I have been. It's going to be like a totally different game to me. What most of you see (and I'm only guessing) is what the dev's intended for you to see. I've yet to experience it...for 5 years.

    xoxo
    Pyro

PS - Get to work CR...I've beaten all of my TombRaider games, and Gran Turismo is getting a tad bit boring.
I VERY much feel some of your pain. the first two years I played the game(AKA paid my subscription and every once in a while attempted to log on to see the pretty pictures), I used my Dell Dimension with the onboard graphics and a wireless connection. My slideshow was just as bad. I eventually added a low end card and some memory, and can at least play on "recommended" settings now, but trying to do anything with too many players causes me just as much lag as you described.

Which is why I have decided to watch this thread. Since I can't do anything about mine until February or so, I have to live vicariously through others! I hate being grown up and having bills and crap... blah!

    Citadel 12-03-09

Our team was awesome... we finished it with 1:30 I think. I died once, cuz no matter what toon I'm on, I think I'm a tank!

Both teams were built evenly to start off... two trollers, a tank, blaster, scrapper, and then one had a defender and the other had a WS. We really had no issues on our team. They barely hit us and we sliced through. All in all, a really good time by me! Great job with setting this up Gen!
  25. I can't stand Twilight, but that's another thread. Buffy was in a league all on it's own!

I currently use a 42" Phillips 1080p TV for my monitor. It's absolutely amazing! Bigger is totally better!

But my ancient Dell Dimension 3100 with it's AGP graphics card is getting a little tired of trying to run on something that awesome... lol
