Isn't that a confirmed bit of GR? Silly thing to put on a wish list of features if you know it's coming
Quote:Remove upwards of 10 hero zones. Anything with less than 5 visitors per day should be axed.
Incidentally WBT DA and Shard revamp! -
Quote:Yea, it was.Wasn't having the 60 month badge the tier ONE requirment, and the preorder 3, with the new loyalty badges being 2?
I'm not really sure where folks are finding the arbitrary number of new zones. I've seen a lot of folks saying there will only be one or two new zones and that's it, which seems kind of silly for a paid expansion really. -
Quote:Under the current plan I'm most likely going to be elligible for all three phases of the closed beta.Originally Posted by Thirty_SevenEspecially since I will be in the Beta due to the Loyalty program anyway.
That seems possibly like I'm overdoing it a bit ya -
Quote:Speaking of that, could there be an auto-responder for tells to folks on trial accounts akin to a "User is AFK" message.Originally Posted by Ad Astra5. Isn't ignoring your /tell - he/she *can't* respond to it.
Since we're talking about trying to make things better for people actually trying to play the game on trial accounts and all. -
The biggest reason to pre-order for me is that I can keep on adding more to my GameStop preorder and buy the thing piecemeal as opposed to all at once. I'd possibly go with somewhere else, but B&N employees get an employee discount at GameStop too, so I might as well ya.

Quote:Admittedly, I think a lot of us would like more costume pieces, but I don't really agree that CO's costume creator 'blows ours out of the water'. They have a couple different points to attach pieces which I'd like, and the multiple colors can be nice or not depending on the piece. The creator itself though is very poorly organized and there's a lot of gaps in available pieces (or there were when I played in the closed and open beta).1) They really need to up the costume creator and add a ton to it as well as more back options. CO just blew this costume creator out of the water.
Quote:2) Many new ATs. Original ATs and not just variations of what we have.
5) Innovative and new game play. I have just come back to this game again and it got boring quick.
Also, how do you propose we change the gameplay in CoH? You can't really change the core gameplay without alienating at least some portion of your established player base. So anything done would have to somehow tack itself on to existing gameplay which more than likely wouldn't be nearly enough for the folks who want new gameplay mechanics from CoH. In all likelihood the folks who want different game mechanics would probably be better served looking for them elsewhere. That's not me telling you to leave, just saying, if we tack on a different play-style this late in the game in all likelihood bad things will end up happening. -
I was going to say (before your edit
) you forgot about energy armor. It kind of looks like it might have been a hybrid resistance/defense armor set. Smash/lethal resistance with elemental/energy defenses with possibly some psi something in the status shield (fits with the name fairly well honestly).
What could have been interesting is if it was really hybrid resist/defense. Put a bit of resistance in each of the shields along with defense (kind of like shield's deflection I suppose). Then increase the recharge on the self-heal a bit and give it a self buff too (medicine doesn't always need to just heal I suppose) and get rid of smoke grenade for an offensively oriented click of some kind (a seeker drone kind of power perhaps). That and the targeting goggles for a to-hit buff and I think it'd be interesting.
You'd have to balance the defense and resistance kind of carefully so it's not too strong or just too all around weak, but still. -
Quote:I was looking through this just now and thinking to myself that I remembered the devs talking about a new gadget based stalker secondary ages ago ... and then it never happened. Of course, this was around the same time they were talking about a new mastermind primary being in the works (seriously, this was ages ago, back before NCsoft bought out Cryptic IIRC). We're just now on the cusp of getting to see a new mastermind primary, so I'm somewhat hoping that there's more powersets on the way with GR and they've only just confirmed the two.Wibble...
WHY was that not included in game? It sounds awesome, just from the names!
I can dream can't I? -
That's actually a pretty good idea.

I'm guessing we'll get it Saturday sometime.
And by 'guess' I mean know since there's that announcement they're making Saturday at Hero-con
Here's a thought. If I17 (or 18 if GR takes long enough to come out ....) is the expansion patch issue, what sort of features will come along with the patch to help ease the sting for those who don't buy the expansion? I mean, I6 came with three PvP zones and some graphical improvements (among other things ... like ED).
I kind of hope the new player experience they've mentioned and whatever associated zone is the 'free' content that we end up getting (either that or buying the expansion comes with a free month and gives people access to the full game). Really though, the starting experience for a game is always rather important and if they cordon the new improved starting experience behind a payed expansion they'll be giving a less favorable impression of the game than they otherwise could to trial players or folks who just buy the base game to see if they like it before they get the expansion.
That said, I know we'll be getting a good chunk of new game content, so I'll just throw out some things I'd like to see:More than just the 2 powersets already announced (1 for each AT would be a fantastic sky pie).
One new AT shared by both sides. (see oft bandied about 'spy' or 'incarnate' ATs) -
Honestly, I read those comments, at least for the first four or five pages it's mostly people disagreeing with the article about CoH needing a revamp. Only a couple of folks doing the CO is CoH2 thing is all.
-
Of course the article was spot on. The article's only real complaint (that I can see) is that the game's five and a half years old. It's hard not to be spot on with such insightful brilliance.
-
To heck with talk of a remake for new tilesets. Let's get that ASAP. Heck, if they could come up with a map randomizer instead of the group of pre-made maps I'd jump for joy.

Quote:There was an interview I read a while back with Matt saying that there would be new introductory content with GR:With CoH, I'd say that for as much as people complain about the lack of an endgame, there needs to be a tweak of the starting content. New content shows that an awful lot can be done to make missions less repeptitive and grindy.
Going Rogue will also have new entry-level content in Praetoria, for those starting new characters in that zone. We acknowledge that our tutorial is about four or five years old. Weve added stuff to it piecemeal as weve added systems on, but for the starting zone in Going Rogue, we are rewriting and modernizing the new player experience.

What do you mean after people get home? I'm fairly sure some people will be posting whatever they can fit in 140 character impressions about as quickly as they can manage.
-
Yea, I think it's something like one in five people in South Korea have the last name Kim. It's the most common last name over there I believe.

Quote:Really? Since when? I think they're making another MMO, but currently unless you're counting Diablo or the RTSs it's just WoW.(I think)
Blizzard makes more than one MMO. -
Wait a second. I can't believe I forgot to add a +1 to Escaflowne earlier. Bah.

Quote:Ahhh, so you mean energy blast
And flashy is good, in fact powersets will win bonus points with me for being exceedingly flashy with pretty colors and shiny explosions.
Energy blast's damage is pretty middle-of-the-road as far as blaster damage goes, but it's just downright fun to play and honestly the knockback provides some fairly good mitigation.
Defeating things wise, if the choice is fire or archery I'd say go fire if you can't wait until 32 before really pumping out the damage.
As a fire alternative I'd like to point out that rad blast has a rather nice damage output in a blaster's hands. -
Quote:Just backtracking a little bit here. You are right that Cap Amazing from Pinnacle can't coexist with Cap Amazing from Triumph on the same server. But Cap Amazing with a sub/superscript Pinnacle above/below their name can coexist with Cap Amazing with a sub/superscript Triumph above/below their name. We already have a ton of text that can go in those areas such as badge titles, sg name, other titles, one more isn't going to break the camel's back. Not with all the options to only show such things on mouseover and whatnot.
On search all it has to do is Cap Amazing (Pin) vs Cap Amazing (Tri). I'm sorry but I just can't see that as an issue worth more than a few seconds of complaining.
You've covered how a person would find them in searches, now how about if you were to send a tell to the person. Would you have to append 'Pin' or 'Tri' onto the end of their names? Would it only be necessary only for the person transferred onto the server or would we all need to append the server onto the end of tells so as to not make the folks merged into our servers feel bad? Would we do the stupid looking thing that CO did and have everyone be <charName>@<global>, because if so it'd be kind of silly for some of us (I'd have an Oliin@Oliin ... well two actually).
I know that when I played DAoC and they clustered servers, the server name would show up after a person's name when they were visiting another server or if they were in the frontiers, and if I'm recalling correctly you'd have to type the server name only for people who weren't from your server. It worked there because the home servers didn't actually go away.
The main way I can really see something like that working in CoH would be if they let you move a character from server to server through Portal Corp somehow. Which might work I suppose, though I'd suggest restricting it to preserve server populations somewhat and making it so you couldn't start teams, take missions or complete your own missions unless you were on your home server. You could go to other servers for TFs and PvP, but you wouldn't exactly be able to have a character live on a separate server. Some guy really could be Captain Amazing, Justice because he's from the 'Justice' dimension (or whatever). -
If I recall correctly, that was one of the things they were testing and added in with I16.
