While they are making this addition, please also add access points to each of the PVP ZONES from Pocket D. Thanks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes to this and the OP's idea. Just a one way trip is fine for me. It doesn't need a return entrance in the PvP zone. -
[ QUOTE ]
I was getting my butt handed to me by spawns of 3, even con, mutated, bunnies. BUNNIES!! I don't know what was more humiliating, that I was having trouble with even con spawns, or that I was being beaten down by bunny rabbits.
[/ QUOTE ]
If it makes you feel any better, I think Ninjitsu was bugged for a while. Wasn't it granting the mobs a large damage bonus?
Not that I disagree with you at all. There are some really broken combos out there. -
If it were possible to have the plaque on a single server, I'd say yes. But since that isn't possible I don't think it's a good idea.
I think it's great that you've managed to keep this event going for so long and that everyone involved certainly deserves to be proud of it. I know that comes off snarky but I honestly mean it.
But, and please don't take this the wrong way, I don't care about your event. I was vaguely aware of it's existance, but I couldn't be bothered to ever find out more. It wasn't until this post I learned it was held on Champion. I just knew it wasn't on my home server. It's on a server I don't play on and have never played on. This isn't meant to pick on Champion, I'd say the same about most of the other servers as well.
There are groups who have been meeting since the game first started. We are lucky to have Developers who are active in the community, many player run events can claim their attendance.
So as much as I think you've done a great job organizing, running, and maintaining this event through 5 years of playing, you don't deserve a marker. I feel kinda awkward writing this since I know you are deservedly proud of it. I don't want to belittle all you've done, but I don't think that this event should set the standard for inclusion into the game world. I'm sorry. -
My mistake. I did gloss over your first post.
I will agree to disagree with you about the potential for backlash and instead embrace our agreement that this would be good. -
Rachelthulu: I dislike the idea of limiting costume pieces of any type because someone is unable to justify their use for RP reasons. There's plenty of costume pieces I've never used and can't imagine ever using. Should they be removed? Like I said, it's not as if any article of clothing is ever shown being damaged or dirty no matter how many battles you're in or how much time you spend in the sewer. Is it so hard to imagine a comic book world where a character has clothes that are never stained? Or that there is some sort of skintight forcefield keeping everything off the flag? You can describe it however you feel like. RP is something that is wide open for everyone on both sides of this suggestion.
No need to go outside the game's own lore to find characters with flag capes. Hero1 had one. -
[ QUOTE ]
How would you feel if I took your national flag down from a flagpole, threw it down on the ground and walked all over it? Or I shot several holes in it? Stuck my finger down my throat and vomited all over it? Put on a set of Kung Fu Tiger Claws, and ripped a bunch of holes in it? Took a knife and stabbed and ripped it several times? Burned it? Threw acid on it? Dumped a bunch of raw sewage on it? (Which would include human feces, among other things.)
You really have no problem with that?
Because if you wear it as a cape, that's just a few of the things that are going to happen to it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I suppose if the game actually showed any sort of damage occuring to any article of clothing (or even them getting dirty) you might, possibly, in some way have a point.
[ QUOTE ]
If you really have no objection to defacing the flag of your country that way, what kind of message are you really sending about how you feel about your country?
[/ QUOTE ]
This thread may as well be locked. It's only going to go downhill from here. The "do it or you're unAmerican (or unCanadian, unWhatever)" is right up there was Godwin's Law for reasoning. I suppose the unacceptable answer would be that you feel that SCOTUS made the correct judgement 20 years ago. But agreeing with SCOTUS is unpatriotic. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh. For the record: This is a list of US Flag Laws and Regulations as maintained by the city of Racine Wisconsin. I suppose SOME states have slightly different rules for what can and can't be done with a flag, but Federal Trumps State Trumps Municipal.
So feel free to pick through this list of laws and regulations for which parts are federal, state, or local and decide what is or isn't illegal in your state.
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ]
Not a single thing on that list is enforceable in the United States. [Texas v. Johnson , 491 U.S. 397 (1989); United States v. Eichman, 496 U.S. 310 (1990)] They're just guidelines about how Racine would like you to treat the flag. Those laws are still "on the books" only because nobody has been charged with them and appealed. Nobody has been charged because any convictions would be overturned on the first appeal gaining nothing more than a waste of time and money for everyone involved.
You can argue matters of taste and whether or not NCSoft should do it, but there are no legal reason not to have capes of any country.
And /signed to the idea. I'm jealous of Hero1.
Edit: Oops, you corrected yourself while I was posting.
[ QUOTE ]
It's not criminal. Though I've gotta ask: How much does that matter when we're talking about the flags of OTHER nations and -their- responses to them being used in game...?
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't really matter. The only law that would apply would be US law for the servers in the US. (Are the Euro servers in a place that would make a difference?) I suppose some country that didn't like their flag being used could ban the game there. The only other alternative would be to somehow convince the State Department to extradite the development team to stand trial in the offended country.
Also, which countries are you worried about? I'd expect that most of the countries that would be so offended about what a game company is doing are countries that wouldn't know about it or have any players from there in the first place. -
Sorry if this is a repeat, I didn't see it on a quick read through.
I'd like to see Mender for logging off in Ouroboros -

Seems hover/flight needs re-re-tweaking. Flew into the train and upon exiting the train in a new zone Cerebrawl is vibrating like he's having siezures.
[/ QUOTE ]
Flight or Hover on?
[/ QUOTE ]
Either, or (it seems) anything else that grants flight. It happens on my system without fail whenever I perform any zone crossing. I just transit to another zone and then don't move. I'll fly/hover there in a pose that looks like the start of the falling animation, but oscillating like an 80's VCR's pause feature.
It stops if I land or fly forward about 10'.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same here. However forward movement did not end it for me. I could travel quite a ways shaking the whole way. Any change in altitude did end it though. -
[ QUOTE ]
Wow.
While this is great news, I'm a little confused by everyone orgasming over ONLY two slots across TWELVE servers (initially). Though as someone who plays pretty much exclusively on Virtue, i can see how it'd be wasteful to have extra slots on ALL servers.
Still, it kind of feels like we're chasing a dangling carrot, and we finally got a nibble of it. And everyone's super-excited over it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Getting for free something that people have been begging to have (and willing to pay for!) for a long time? Gee, I wonder why everyone is excited...
It's not the size (of the freebie) that counts, it's how you use it.
[ QUOTE ]
The "Purchasable slot" prices also seem a touch high, especially considering how some people are going to make slots just to transfer characters over. But i guess $15 is a small price to pay to be anal =) I would've made 1 slot be like 3 bucks or something. My only justification is that I don't really understand where the money is going. Like, does it cost more electricity to house more character info on a server? Does someone need to be paid to manually update the character selection screen? My point is that $4.99 seems entirely arbitrary, so, why not make it a little lower? Ah well, not a huge deal.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can't think of any reason besides paying the electric bill that NCNC may want more money? We've been told (and have no reason to believe we were lied to) that sales of the Wedding Pack led to the inclusion of VEATS in i12. We've been told that ad revenue will be spent entirely on development, allowing more to be done faster. Is the money from this going there too? It seems a good guess that at least part of it will. Will it go to buying hookers and blow for Posi? Maybe. Who cares?
[ QUOTE ]
So, "bravo, Devs" but some of you fanbois need to calm down =P
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, whatever. I'm getting free slots! -
[ QUOTE ]
By 'they,' do you mean the Devs? Because then that's the first time I heard that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. It's way too old for me to pull anything out of the Dev Digest though. I don't mean not unlocking "evil Khelds," that seems to be tied to level 50 if they should ever come out to keep parity with CoH. But any new Epic Archetype is unlikely to be tied to reaching level 50.
Since the last forum purge it's harder to pull up discussions where people have talked about this.
Discussed by Memphis Bill here.
Here is a discussion following Posi's W00t Radio interview in 2006. The same comments of "I thought it was a mistake to unlock at 50?" crop up several times in that discussion. -
You want the suggestions forum, several floors down. But wear an abestos suit when you go.
Quick rundown of your hijack:
1. Meh on the merger, and it might be more trouble than it's worth for ranking people remaining to hav the star
2. Yeah, it has issues. Tell it to get in line behind other things though.
3. No way in hell.
4. See #3, but stronger.
5. And how will you account for "buzzsaw" builds with all of these procs?
6. They already said tying Khelds to 50 was a mistake. I doubt they are going to repeat it.

ORRRR......
The statement from the EU head honcho was spawning wild rumors on the EU boards that was starting to infect the US boards and so the US head honcho is basically saying, "We got plans but we're not confirming anything, so, anything you hear is a rumor."
[/ QUOTE ]
That is a decidedly unfun way to state what happened. I don't care that you're right. Besides, I'm getting an underwater moon base. So there. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm all for the change. Anything that slows down farmers is fine in my book.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is no evidence that this hurts farmers (RMT idiots or otherwise), and a lot of good reasons why this may help them. -
[ QUOTE ]
They're done with Roger Clemens, Foxy. Maybe your senator has some free time to look into this.

Naw, now they're on to Belichek.
But some comment would be appreciated. Or at least give Lighthouse accurate information since he seems to be the only one willing to acknowledge that anything changed. -

does that mean you're gonna listen to the player base and revert the TF changes?

QFT.
The irony that this statement comes the day after such a blindfolded rug-sweep is mind-numbing in itself.

[ QUOTE ]
So, what's the new mission do? I didn't see a badge or anything. Is it just sorta for fun?
[/ QUOTE ]
It does nothing. Once you read the mission clues (which are amusing), you're done. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh, and about those Pool C Drops... they have to COMPLETE the TF for those... which means fighting an AV in most cases
[/ QUOTE ]
If they are part of an RMT group, they won't want to finish. The fewer Pool C drops there are the more they benefit. As the prices go higher for the limited amount their extra inf will start to look more and more attractive to people.
It's in their best intrest to keep supply as low as possible, since they profit off of the demand. -
[ QUOTE ]
I find it hard to look at this event as anything more than one new door mish coupled with an advertisement for new pay for play content.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much how I feel. And once you read the mission clues (which were funny for about 5 minutes) The new mission is just a long boring run. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
They won't. They'll get one and log out to reset it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is that true? So you can farm a mission, log out, and when you get back in it will reset?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. And with the new changes it will be set for max TF size. So spawn that 8 person map repeatedly without bothering with anyone to pad for you. -
[ QUOTE ]
Also, I saw LH's "it's a bug" post. It happened, not minutes later LH deleted his post.
[/ QUOTE ]
I had forgotten about that post. Yeah, something is really messed up right now. Even Lighthouse didn't know about this "fix" -
[ QUOTE ]
...whatever you (collectively) are doing to generate patch notes blows. It is attrocious! Worse, this clearly couldn't have gotten any focused testing because people don't normally run TFs on the test server. As a result not only did it not get any "air time" it didn't get any testing by the playerbase - something you guys have made a point of using to improve the quality of your releases. How this could not only missed as a patch note but no one internally realized it hadn't been player tested completely escapes me.
The NCNC team has done a lot to improve my faith in them based on what I consider improvements in past processes and final product. However I consider the handling of this change a real backslide to old (poor) quality.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. The month of Febuary seems a giant step back for quality in Co*. Hopefully things will go return to their normally excellent standard next month. -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't know that any other new for pay packs will be tied to holidays. This one just worked out that way. To be clear, it's likely that we wouldn't have done this extra event and the corresponding Wedding Pack if we didn't charge for the pack.
[/ QUOTE ]
If this was the only way it was going to get done, I guess I can't really say much. I suppose it's better that it got done than just sat on the drawing board.
Personally, this is the most disappointing announcement I've seen for CoH/V. I won't be buying it and can only hope that this isn't a sign of things to come.
Enjoy everyone who does make the purchase. -
And I'm too sexy for your forums.
