We already know what's up, it's really just a case of Dev procedure:
1. Ignore complaints about weak Blaster sets
2. Continuing ignoring
3. After enough PMs, make a post claiming to have plans to fix some of the problems.
4. Return to Step 1.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget to weaken strong Blaster powersets while obliquely and/or unintentionally nerfing the AT as a whole. -
[ QUOTE ]
I hate to admit it, but I am finding Defiance -mildly- useful on my lvl 16-18 fire/ice blaster.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly not the problem levels for Blasters. Exactly not the levels that I5 (Defiance) was supposed to address.
[ QUOTE ]
I know it won't be useful at all, later, but I can see why some people initially considered it a good idea. (Personally, I thought it was a bad idea from the get-go.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much. The levels Blasters didn't have a problem with are still not a problem. The levels they have a problem with are still a problem and on top of that, the low levels of Blasterdom are still coloring people's perspectives. The devs, apparently, included. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, maybe it'll help curb the yelling about how defiance and vigilance are useless at high levels, particularly against av's
[/ QUOTE ]
Let's see, being two-shotted instead of one-shotted... huh, nope. Sorry. Defiance is still going to be useless. -
[ QUOTE ]
Especially since most stalkers que up another attack as Assasin's strike activates. Honestly I don't know why people are [censored] about being one shotted. As a blaster I got used to it back i2. Don't like one shotting? don't pvp.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm curious to see what sort of unintended consequence this brings. -
[ QUOTE ]
1. We're looking into the tweak to Endurance for mobs that's affected Endurance Drain abilities. Sorry about that!
[/ QUOTE ]
Gee. Thanks. Now unpimpslap my Electro-Blapper and the debt he's built up thanks to this "tweek" of yours.
[ QUOTE ]
2. We'll be putting in a check that prevents "one shotting"; if anything occurs within a fraction of second that brings a player from 100% Hit Points down to 0, we instead give the player 1% Hit Points.
[/ QUOTE ]
As an experianced Blaster, the difference between being one-shotted and one-volleyed isn't all that much. So I'm not exactly sure how much of a big whoop a 1% HP post-[censored]ing"bonus" will be. I guess that's to be seen. -
For the poor buggers that've been reading the sig-linked bio for my first CoV character I've got good news... I finally finished. I know, I know. 'Bout friggin' time. For those that haven't been reading the sig-linked bio for my first CoV character... what the hell's wrong with ya?

Never had too much trouble with Blood Widows. Night Widows on the other hand... pretty sure it's Night Widows that pop smoke. Hate that.

1. No. They're meant to eliminate issues in PvE.

Uhm, huh? Issues in PvE? What the hell issues were caused by being able to walk and chew gum at the same time in PvE? -

In any case, the current 3 slotted hover isn't fast enough to keep up with people on the ground who have swift + sprint. So instead of spending the entire mission in hover, I have to run, then turn it on in battle, then turn it off and run, etc. Not only a pain, but certainly not in the spirit of my toon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why not switch from hover to FLY instead of run?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because, unlike the old -Acc thing Fly had, you cannot toggle around suppression. Before, if you were flying and fired off attacks, you missed like mad. The solution was to switch between Fly and Hover. A bit of a pain, but no real sweat. Now, whether you're flying, hovering, or standing on the ground, and fire off an attack suppression kicks in salting your tail. There's no way around it. Well there is. Not using the damned power anymore.
Shame too. I loved Fly. After I picked it up the first time I spent hours just barnstorming around the city. Now it's a piece of [censored]. Boy, I sure am glad the devs haven't (repeatedly) [censored]ed with PvE when they decided to shove PvP into this game. -
Good heavens man! When they finally got around to dealing with Fly, they broke it all to hell. Let's not encourage them.

Beta.

Ah, gotcha. Accepted the invite pretty late into beta. Must've missed him in the MM forums. -

Rain or Arrows just got a whole lot better".

I hate "Rain or Arrows"
I always get rain...
[/ QUOTE ]
Dude, where I live its rained for 29 straight days.
[/ QUOTE ]
Could be worse. You could've been getting 29 straight days of arrows. -

The thought makes me tremble. A defiance-fueled nuke?
[/ QUOTE ]
Uhm... huh? "nukes" aren't pets. You can already fire off defiance-fueled nukes. Well, in theory anyway. -
[ QUOTE ]
I can only hope that, since this announcement was a looooong time in coming, the devs took a hard look at blaster secondaries(and every possible primary pairing) for balance issues.
[/ QUOTE ]
Start holding your breath...... now! -
[ QUOTE ]
Fact is, toggle dropping is currently ridiculous. Blappers consistently dominate melee ATs. I know some of you find the thought of this changing to be quite upsetting, but thematically, a melee AT should be superior in melee.
[/ QUOTE ]
psst Blappers are a melee AT. Rather, there are no "melee" ATs. There are those that can take a punch, and those that cannot. Blasters and Blappers give up defensive capacity for offensive capacity. It matters not one wit at what range that damage is dished out. Are they supposed to give up offensive capacity as well? -
[ QUOTE ]
Not every single Blaster that PvP's has melee attacks or has access to Buildup....
[/ QUOTE ]
Not every Blaster PvPs. I don't, but I find this change irritatingly par for the course. I can only wonder what this game would be like if the lead designer wasn't nigh-obsessed with Scrappers and Tankers (and Brutes and Stalkers). -
So the ATs that have a defensive capacity get a boost while the ATs that don't have a defensive capacity and can only handle the ATs with those that do by dropping their toggles get screwed. Uhm... yay.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Positron, I was in a mission with a team over the weekend where one member got a new bot who could bubble other minions and some of the other team members, but neither of the 2 Brutes received bubbles.
Is this a bug or intentional?
Da Smasher - Brute on Infinity
[/ QUOTE ]
My Protector Bot bubbles me, my pets, some of my Traps and other MMs pets. Not necessarily in that order. It doesn't, however, bubble any other players. Not just the Brute. Not sure if that's intentional like, say the Prot Bot's heal only working on 'bots, but it probably is. Not sure if it's a stacking issue or role issue or what. -
Meh. I remember the oil painting the CoH end of beta lagfest... er... event was. Besides, have you seen the trailer? It's not like it'll be a challenge or anything.
-
Whoopdie-[cesored]ing-doo.
So, the Tanker/Scrapper passives that need four of the same enhancements, yet cost no endurance, are helped exactly how?
Hmm... how much of an endurance bonus does a faceplanted "I don't have anything to save my [censored] except my fully slotted attacks which I can no longer have" Blaster really need?
More turd polishing. -

[ QUOTE ]
I really think the Devs had this in mind for Corrupters in CoV: Archer/Trick Arrows. Of course, I don't know if you can do it or not in CoV--I'm not in beta.
[/ QUOTE ]
I so hope so... its destroyer by the way
[/ QUOTE ]
According to these screenshots there is no Archery. And Thor, no, it's Corruptor. The name used to be Destroyer but was changed some time ago. -
Hooray! Post-count reset! Now I can point out, at length, just how accute the case of cranial-rectal inversion Archon099 is suffering from is....
Nah. No real need in pointing out the ridiculously obvious.
Instead, I'll limit myself to dealing with the obviously ridiculous. Defiance is getting tweeked. Uhm, yay. There's an old saying that can't help but spring to mind here, "You can polish a turd all day long. But at the end of the day, it's still going to be a turd." -
Defiance seems better suited as a way of giving Tankers the offensive increase they were asking for way back when than it does as a way of helping Blasters do anything but faceplant in a more efficient manner.
From a practicality standpoint, it's worthless. Testing in battle with a low level Archery Blaster I found that by the time my Defiance bar was a quarter of an inch in length, so too were my HP and End bars. Maybe if it boosted accuracy and spiked endurance it would be worthwhile. But right now, it isn't. At least the name sounds more heroic than Desperation.
My recommendation to Blasters would be to stick with the tactics you've grown used to from actually running Blasters. Play as if you don't have Defiance at all. If it kicks in, it kicks in, but don't go trying to get it to kick in and don't rely on it. When you get in trouble, slam greenies, get healed, or get the heck out of Dodge. And in the name of all that's good and tasty in Odin's beard, do not do any of these "stupid Blaster tricks".
