And don't forget my favorite tactic tri-form warshade gives you.

Step one: Transform into a black dwarf
Step two: teleport into the middle of a large group
    Step three: black dwarf mire
Step four: transform back to human
    Step five: mire
Step six: Jump back out of spawn while transforming to nova
    Step seven: DESTROY!
Step eight: stygian circle to recover your lost stamina/health now that the majority or all of the enemy group is dead.

This takes just a few short seconds. And when you pull it off 8 man teams have to pick their jaws up off the floor.

You have just given step by step detailed instructions on the super secret fighting style we use to train new squids in the all Kheldian SG on Guardian. Who leeked the information? I want names....
  2. The cliff notes comment was a nice touch. Over the top but not bad. I'll make this short since I know your not into that reading or debating points logicaly thing.

#1 Not everyone is a powergamer super focused on playing at 100% all the time and the majority dont play with that kinda extream performance fixation.

#2 There is nothing wrong with either style and the two never have to play together.

#3 neither side is any more or less skilled that the other, choosing not to play at 100% in no way means they cant do it.

#4 As bad as I may or may not be at playing a Kineticist you are by far worse at anything resembling an actual debate as you ignore anything that will not support your views and actually think saying blah blah blah after not reading much less trying to understand and argue against points made against you makes you witty and cool.
  3. So, basicly we agree it isnt a need but a want. Thats cool, I love getting SB myself, but I have never asked for one outside of an AV/GM fight because its not important enough to me.

I enjoy 7 out of 9 of the kinetic powers (hate the bounce bubble and SB is alright) so by some of the reasoning posted because I dont enjoy playing buffbot with SB I should skip Kinetics altogether? That seems silly.

I have played a Kin/ to 50 another Kin/ to 36 and another /Kin to 45 and not once has anyone complained about the work I have done as a Kineticist, ever.

But obviously all the people I have played with in the last 3 years werent as skilled as the "Must have SB on all team members at all times or I'll kick you." people.....or the people complaining are such a small fraction of the playerbase that this is just a silly debate to get into as the remaining "I dont really care how you play your toon." people are the vast vast majority on the matter and I can just not care what the vocal minority has to say.
  4. If you really want to go that route thats fine, but to me I'm playing a debuffing set that has the side effect of having some buffs in it much like I concider Howling Twilight a auto-hit high mag stun that happens to have the side effect of rezzing teamates.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I do use SB occassionaly here and there during missions, when I have the time and inclination to do so. I also SB the entire team when fighting something difficult such as a GM or AV. I do not however subscribe to the philosophy that SB must be maintained at all times or even the majority of the time on an entire party for normal average to semi-hard content and I'm still waiting for anyone to explain exactly what it is that makes this a need and not a want?

If its a need great I obviously have it all wrong somehow, but if it is just a want (one that as one poster put will require me to spend 1/8th of my play time buffbotting) then its my choice on if its needed or not or if its worth MY time or not.

So many posters of the "must have SB at all times" mentality have glossed over or completely ignored this point. What is it that makes this needed for a team to succeed? What makes your fun more important than my fun? I took SB because there are times I do want to use it, or I think that particular situation makes it needed. I use it when "I" feel its needed or when I just WANT to use it. There is no use it all the time or dont take it rule. So please explain to me why its needed.
  5. And as soon as you can show (from my post points that you ignored) why sb is NEEDED and not just wanted to maximize xp/drop/inf rates and why you believe powergamers are some sort of be all end all of playstyles everyone should adhere to I will be happy to take on your points. "

Until then its simply you saying "This is what I want to happen and everyone should just do it because everyone should always want to play in the maner and style I like best."

You keep saying what I say is pointless and its not. Its pointless to you because it doesnt support your views, your not able to refute any of it because you would come off as a control freak demanding everyone play in the most efficient manner simply because you want it that way.

So instead you ignore the valid points and skip reading them because you would have no other choice but to admit SB is not required for success in CoH.

And the reason nobody ever spams "GLUE ARROW PLZ" is because its not a buff, and alot of people in game feel entitled to be buffed at all times, they feel alot of powersets sole reason for existance is to make them better at whatever they do. And if you want to talk about bad team attitudes expecting, much less demanding any player in this game to dedicate their existance to your fun is as bad as it gets.

I'm sorry my posts are long I know reading and comprehension is hard but your not entitled to argue about points you havent read or just plain refuse to address because they dont support your narrow view of how others need to play their characters so it best benifits you.
  6. In other words the sole measure of the skills of a Kineticist is if he does or does not keep his team speed boosted. Ya know this will make my job soooo much easier now that I only ever have to worry about 1 power ever again.

I have been inspired and now I see the light. Where before I used all the powers in both my sets with occassional SB's and was a horrible horrible kineticist.

But now, NOW I have the wisdom that by using SB more often I have now gone from horrible to awesome. Heck I can probably drop all them other useless powers I used to spam now and 6 slot SB.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
You are a poor kineticist when compared to other people more capable than you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So what your saying is I'm a worse kineticist than the people who are better kineticists than me....?

Seriously did you think that up yourself or did you get help?
  8. The only justification I have put forth is "I dont enjoy it so i'm not going to do it." This has nothing to do with skills as you well know. Your obfuscating my points because you dont like them. There simply is NO requirement to play in the most efficient way, the game simply isnt that hard. Well for me anyways.

I "can" drive my car 90 mph, i have the skills to do that. The fact I choose to drive 30 mph is a choice not a limit of ability. You would know this if you even attempted to read or understand what was posted. But you dont care to do that, much like I dont care to play in the min/max fashion you seem to think is required for success in CoH but cannot seem to explain why its required.

Because you choose to not explain your point or even comment on mine should I assume your unable to think or read or that you have simply made a choice about how to spend your time and effort?
  9. I think your mistaking "cant" with "choose not to".

Your flailing badly and I think everyone can tell, because:
#1 I nor anyone else has said that SB wont make things faster. It will thats a fact.

#2 SB is not needed any more than perma-hasten is needed. Its nice but its a perk not required to play the game. This is also a fact.

#3 The only people who care enough to gripe if the entire team has perma-speed boost are the diehard gotta max our xp/drop/inf per second ratio. This is NOT a fact but i think its a dead on theory.

And the main reason I think your flailing around is because of #4 Instead of addressing any of my comments you default to the l33t player bible thats says "If any Dudz dont play your way its cuz they dont got teh sk1llz that you gotz cuzz der not as uber l33t as youz"

I could play your way, anyone could play your way actually. I could just put SB on auto and change targets while on auto follow if it was the be all end all of my job. But the fact is playing your way isnt required for success in CoH, not even close.

The only requirements to play the min/max way capitolizing on each and every power and buff in game to gain the maximum rewards possible in the shortest amount of time possible exist only in your narrow goal driven mind.

And the best you can do to debate this is attack my supposedly inferior playing skills?
    Really?
    Seriously?
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Let me conclude my arguments by saying that I find such players irksome, especially when they're intelligent or correct in addition to being poor powergamers; and that I am not given to suffer non-min/maxers lightly when the star is mine.

So, for the final time: kins, play your characters how my "vision" of the AT does it. Or else!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, maybe I did edit that a little.... But thats how it sounds to me.
  11. If your entire or even "main" reason for having me on "your" team is to continually have me spam one specific power out of both my primary and secondary and using that one specific power or not is the deal breaker for you then you wouldnt need to kick me, I would most happily leave on my own as such totaly fixated min/max micromanager styled players drive me nuts to begin with.

Of course i SB stone tanks and people having endurance issues, I even SB players without said problems of movement and endurance, but I will not ever accept that a team I am on who is cruising through said mission without any noticeable problems requires me to spend 10-15% of my playtime spamming one stupid skippable power just so the crazy idgit powergamers can get that 3% more xp per minute.

I'm NOT talking about the "oh its an AV, SB us all please" situations. I'm talking about the "its a mission full of yellow and orange common mobs we deffinantly need to all be SB'ed to clear this map as fast as possible and I have decreed from on high that its my right and your job, so do it!" situations.

And if you cannot tell the difference (or think there is none) then your obviously mainly interested more in what you can gain from micromanaging the xp/drop/influence rates than you are making sure everyone is just enjoying playing the game, and in that case we really have nothing more to talk about as its simply a difference of philosophy on playing the game.

The short version is this. A very very tiny percent of this game content requires individuals much less entire teams to NEED the maintaining of SB on them. If I am unfortunate enough to be on a team where 7 people NEED to have SB on them continiously, then I have actually joined a team with 7 people who absolutely do not know how to build characters (or I'm on a low level team which is different and acceptable) and I need to leave said team immediately. Anything else is just other people being fixated on quick advancement/drops/influence and none of these are of enough concern to me to adjust my play style to the degree it would take to make these people happy.

If its even remotely needed I give it out happily, if its not then you get what you get when I have the time and inclination to give it as I couldnt care less if your fixated on maximizing your xp/drop/influence rate.

"Keep us all Speed Boosted or be kicked!"
    "LOL Goodbye.." *Quit*
  12. Illusion/Kinetic here, and i'm not so bad [censored] I dont need to SB people, I just plain old dont want to be anyones buff bot so they can flex their muscles even harder and be the teams big star. No you do not get to suck up my FS then bemoan how i'm not maximizing YOUR playing.

I simply dont care if your getting the max outta your play because i'm busy getting the max outta MINE.

The sheer entitlement is simply silly. I'm not playing the game to make your pimped out scrapper easy and fun to play, i'm certainly not playing so you can flex and say "See how awesome I am?".

I will simply have to accept I'm a horrible buffer, but then again I didnt make the Illusion/kinetic controller to be a buffer, I made it because "I" would enjoy playing it and maxing out what "I" can do with MY controls and damage.

It simply isnt my job to make your play experience more fun and easy for you any more than its yours to make my controlling and damage better by expecting you to play micromanager with YOUR powers for my explicit benifit reguardless of how much it sucks for you and your fun. PERIOD. No exceptions.

Eventually you will realize how independent you are, yet how awesome you are to the team.

P.S. If you would like build help let me know I have helped build dozens of Khelds for people on Guardian as well as helped the Guardian all Kheldian SG with theirs.

    Triform WS Build

I spent 80% of my time on my main using a 10 million or less build.

With this build I was able to convince nearly every person in my SG and more than a few coalition members that they should make WS's. "Wow, I really have to make one of them." Thats what they said.

This isnt about influence, its not about perma-whatever builds, its about playing the AT to its strengths and not some "Oh my costume looks much to good to be using forms" or "Khelds dont really get good till you spend 100 million influence" style.

    Never was never will be.
  16. My WS will most likely go "evil" in an attempt to take over the ignorant human masses who refuse to accept the Kheldian people as a viable hero type. Reducing the "squids are gimp" population to slave labor.
A fate better than they deserve.....
    Long live the Kheldian Empire!

    Triform WS Build

    Welcome to my world

I grudgingly accept there is no one way to build a Kheld but some of the choices simply mystify me to the point all i can do is cower in the corner weeping the same word over and over..."WHY???"

    Triform WS Build

I sooooo had to do that
  19. Obsidian_Force2

    Triform WS Build

I strangely enough agree with hudsonsmith on most of that with a couple exceptions.

    - I like having 2-3 slots in nova form the hit buffs do actually have a decent return on final chance to hit, but i certainly wouldnt 5-6 slot it. He is correct on the endurance issue of it only affecting the form toggle cost.

-Stygian Circle is hands down the best single power heal/endurance recovery power in game and I normaly 5 slot that one to both offset the initial endurance use cost and to make sure I can use it roughly every 8-10 seconds

    - Orbiting Debt is useless no matter how many slots you put on it. If you really want to do aoe damage switch to squid form and do your damage in under the 15 ticks it takes to kill a minion. Anything you can do with Orbiting Debt while mired and eclipsed you can do better faster and with less damage taken from orbiting squid platform.

I'm seeing in the Op's (between the lines) comments that he/she/it prefers human form as its easier and less work, and that is correct.
But with a more active form switching playstyle using binds and carefully selected powers and slotting the Tri-Form will completely decimate any numbers his/her/it's human form can generate, but yes it does require more "work" to accomplish and maintain.

Honestly i'm just happy to not see medicine/presense/large amounts of concealment pool in this build. **TAUNT TAUNT**
  20. Again, I'm not trying to be a killjoy but pvp WAS introduced to this pve game, and was almost completely rejected enmass.

You CAN argue it was implimented poorly or you could accept the fact that a HUGE number of players (IMHO), the majority of them by far simply arent the competitive types who actually enjoy PVP.

PVP to me can be fun as long as its played with friends and not the ultra competitive gotta win types who have poisoned the potential of PVP being fun for all.
  21. Not to be a killjoy but, I loath any aspect of the game that will require me to click the "no I do not want to fight your twinked out pvp toon" button 50+ times a day, much less listen to the "but wai?" and 13 year old trash talk tells when I do click that button.
Othwerwise I am truely loving this expansion idea.
  22. I dissagree completely. Are the issues a little slow? sure, I wont really argue that. But cathedral of pain and pvp?

The vast vast vast majority of the CoH playerbase this is such a non-issue I seriously dont know how people can say thing like that with a straight face.

Death sentence of the game? Please. EQ is still running its servers and hasnt been "competitive" in many many years.

Is CoH competitive? I think so. Their not Bleeding Edge and i'm ok with that. I find the "Bleeding Edge" type games draw a certain type of player who is only interested in whats hot and whats new and then moves on when the next hot new game comes along.

I think the vast majority of the CoH playerbase loves the game, likes new updates, but isnt rabid about constant new upgrades and updates. They may check out the new games they might even like them enough to quit here, such is the life of MMO's. But the majority play CoH because they like CoH, alot. And they arent really going anyplace.

The hard core type A's gotta have it my way or else i'll quit already left over the last pvp changes, the majority of the ones remaining arent going anyplace anytime soon.
