Can't edit previous post due to time limits - we now have a full team. See you later.

OK Morgan, we'll see you at 7:30 tonight in the Chantry.
Two more spaces free for anyone brave daft? enough to join us. -
My supergroup is planning on running third Shard TF on Saturday evening at 7:30pm UK time and has three spots free for a few of brave souls. The TF starts in the Chantry and is given by Justin Augustine.
Teamspeak users would be preferred but it's not essential. It justs makes life easier
Anyone up for it? -
1. Technically, yes, but it's not over quite such a wide area. Arctic Air is just huge.
2. If you have the endurance.... I find one of these toggles alone with my other toggles is as much as I could manage.
3. Up to you really. Both are useful, I prefer Arctic Air because of it's -stealth component. -
A practical point I've found with HOs.
Acc/Dam can be traded for just about anything if you persevere. Dam/Range are just as common, but there's far fewer powers they can be used in overall - pretty hard to swap in other words. Basically slotting an Acc/Dam HO, and a range enhancer in a power is a bit of a waste.
In a power like Bitter Ice Blast I'd slot regular accuracies (with only two you're going to get a better return from having effective 52 or 53s anyway and in PvP it does all help) and then slot dam/range HOs (taking one or two from blizzard). Use at least one of the Acc/Dam HO in another power (maybe Ice Blast, to then allow you to pop another endurance reducer/recharge in there).
Chances are you'll pick up more dam/ranges at some point in the future to put in blizzard.
I'd also take Ice Storm and slot it just with three slows for pre-blizzard use in preference to vengeance. I like using blizzard. A lot.
A lot of the build (pools and epic) are nothing like what I'd play (although I like a couple of the slotting changes you've made, web grenade, ditching air superiority, adding flights to hover and swift) but I know it works for you - also a manically over-agressive playstyle does make you fun and easy to team with when I'm playing my Kinetic in RV, assuming I can keep up.
-
Not sure I've ever played the game on such a sugar overload.
Was a fun TF. Although I'm sure with a fairly liquid bottle, some double sided sticky tape, and a metal coat hanger we could rig a mobile phone receiver on top of that metal ball Mr Kind hangs out in and save my little legs some running around. -
Never seen a Fire/Storm, infact I never even considered mixing the two sets, but now I think about mixing the two sets I really like the idea. I actually think /storm would suit my level 50 fire controller better than the one I have as a secondary - conceptually she's a bit of a natural disaster looking for somewhere to happen.
I would be interested to hear how it plays once it gets to a reasonable level although I could see the endurance issues I'm sure you'll have really annoying me personally.
I can sort of picture the Tornado/Fire Cages combination, and of course there's the two stuns to combine as well - actually that sounds really fun. -
Chocolate you say?
All chocolate should be deposited with the Kinetic Defender for safekeeping.
OK, that's a full team then, see you folks tomorrow at 7:00 UK time in the Chantry. -
Great if you already slot it for run speed anyway.
I heard a rumour that if you hit Power Build Up and smack Speed Boost on someone just as they go past David Wincott, they land somewhere in the second group of outcasts. Never tried it myself of course.
*whistles innocently* -
Play whatever you want to play - it's all for fun after all.
Actually we've three spots free now, someone else had to pull out (two after you Standoff). -
It's been broken/fixed for ages. It worked for a bit last year, and broke again in I8 I believe, then worked again briefly in a patch after I8, sometime after Christmas, but has been broken again for a while - that's ignoring the times it was broken and then fixed before that.
I wish whoever is playing around with the switch would damn well stop it. There are definitely occasions where that eight hundred and something (it's been so long I've forgotten the exact number, 819 I think) heal is really damn useful.
Although to be fair I usually combine PBU with other powers (Cosmic Burst, Total Focus, Atomic Blast Transferrance), it'd be nice to have the option to use it with Transfusion when I want to. -
*giggles*
Better with two lots.
Edit: I like Psi Mastery too - I'd definitely go for one of the two on Kinetic - I normally team my Kinetic (who has power) with a Kinetic who has Psi, it's a good mix, both have useful powers. -
I've tried that. Strangely, I didn't eat anything involving mince meat for quite a long time afterwards (or tinned tomatoes).
Now, back to that cake..... -
I don't really see the point of playing a squishy character in mele just for the sake of playing it in mele. I have two servers full of characters plus a couple of extras, all of them are squishy, a fair few of them are played in mele to varying degrees, but, it is always for a reason. The reason being that there are advantages to playing them in mele, and I have worked round surviving the disadvantages.
A few pool power attacks on a set combination which is definitely not geared towards mele in any way, wont really work. Sure, if you want to make a concept character there's no reason not to go for it, the game is for fun, you should make whatever character is fun for you. But there's also little advice that anyone here can give you, because the practical advice from a build point of view is, quite clearly, don't do it. -
Well, frankly, now I'm just thinking about dessert. I really want some chocolate cake, and we don't have any.

Showed up late as usual with Omega Patient

Fashionably late? -
Sirens which was dead, Warburg which was briefly lively, and then back to RV later on (although I seemed to lose track of quite a bit of time yesterday evening, more so after my husband put a beer in my hand after dinner, I'm not quite sure what I was doing) when there were quite a few more villains in there again - think you must have left by then. Didn't seem a lot of point in staying earlier on given the hero to villain ratio.
Shame you couldn't get on TS. -
You wont three shot anyone on a Kinetic Defender.
Lower base damage, lower damage cap, no scourge. -
So, it's Thursday, and there's an outside chance I may get home at a civilized time tonight. Hope to see some (lots of) folks there.
(I'm a little ways off on that villain still, she is nearly level 12 now though.)

I find Kinetics as a Defender set works well for zone PvP - better than it does in the arena as you can really benefit from how well you can get around. It's easier in RV than elsewhere although you can make it work in all zones against most character types (eluding SR stalkers prior to epics are hard, and certain types of brute that are drain/slow resistant are always tricky, other than that you've a fighting chance against everything else I can think off offhand.)
Re: Kin/Energy being a bad combination - I don't see an issue with it for PvP other than that you get no holds/sleeps/stuns etc in your secondary. You can work round that in my opinion and knockback isn't the issue it is in PvE - in fact if you bump into someone with no protection (or you drain them to drop it) then you'll find it useful.
Travel powers: I personally find on a zone build I do not need acrobatics, although when I'm soloing I tend to make knockback protection in our base just to be on the safe side. If you intend to go in the arena on the live server you may want to rethink that though.
A combination of Fly, IR and Siphon Speed gives you lots of travel options for only one pool pick, and allows you to still take speed, leadership, and fitness - all very useful. IR is a fantastic movement power for while you're fighting, just make sure you go into hover or fly when you need to refire it as the rooting is long.
Re: Epics.
Psi or Power would be my suggestions. Each have their advantages.
You could approach disabling your enemy one of two ways. Either use the added end drain boost of Power Build Up to go for quick drain which may then allow you to benefit from both the knockback in your secondary and the stun in total focus once your targets have their toggles dropped (obviously combined with the slow from siphon speed). Power also gives you more tohit/damage which is obviously useful.
Psi will give you a slower drain rate (though still effective over a prolonged fight), but a useful hold, and telekinesis is very good against most characters.
Prior to the epics you obviously take longer to deal with your enemies, unless you're fighting a single enemy in Warburg or Sirens you're generally better off in a team. Beware team members who will take their SB and run off and leave you in trouble however, no team mates are better than anyone who does that.
Also on the RV subject - heavies when Speed Boosted and with ID are really quite effective.
I'm happy to PM a build similar to the one I'm using currently on my Kin/Rad if you want to take a look through what works for me, although I'll have to ammend it slightly as I've pretty near got as many HOs in it as I can fit now. -
Soling depends on the Defender. My Kin/Rad solos pretty well (was slow at lower level, but manageable), my Rad/Sonic soloed fine from work go, my Sonic/Psi I don't have the patience to solo, I'm sure I wouldn't have the patience to solo a bubbler.

*shakes pointy stick at Ohms*
Cheeky monkey. -
I found it was actually up and down with numbers. At the start of the night we had a four person team in there and more villains than you could shake a pointy stick at which was good fun I have to say.
Later on as numbers got higher it felt a bit too hero dominated really although I know a few people switched which was good of them.
Hopefully there'll be consistantly high numbers on both sides next week - the more the merrier.
I really need a high level villain. All I need to do now is make a villain on Union and play it to level 50.....
