    IMO the OP could have thought out his/her idea more but let's face it, coming from someone who posted on these very boards that the Rogue Isles never should have existed and we should delete them, you have a lot of nerve.

    Secondary to that, you also used the thread (among others) to fish for information so you could get ideas for the various MMOs you would like to create. GL

    Sadly what was a fun game with a lot of potential to grow has been poorly handled. I could summon a number of examples for this but I just don't have the interest anymore. The current state of the game is making it easy for players like me to make the decision to jump ship.

    With the amount of features offered in CO alone it blows CoX out of the water. As for the quality of their PvP I don't know, but even if it ends up being worse, I have more faith in their development team to make positive adjustments then I do in this one.

    All in exchange for more damage and damage resistance that allows me a few more second to heal and phase.

    This is a toon that relied on defense for survival. Bubbs don't have extra goodies built in like self heals, +perception and the only thing going for them now is mez resistance.

    Everyone has been affected but some are better off then others.

    Well October was closed beta I believe so the information was through word of mouth (Dev/NC Rep) only and not actually play tested by reporters.

    I'm pretty sure that the story would have been a whole lot different if Massively were allowed to check it out first hand.

    I could be wrong though, it may have been as Reiraku said.

    Floyd 'Castle' Grubb clearly does not know the meaning of fear. He's now unveiled a detailed breakdown of the foreshadowed changes to powers in City of Heroes PvP, and they're so radical it will probably be like playing a different game. Are these changes for the better? Once Issue 13: Power and Responsibility goes to Open Beta, we'll be sure to join in with the testing, because we can't wait to find out.

    We already knew about the changes to mez protection (removed in PvP) but the changes go far, far beyond that. For example, simply being the target of an attack is enough to suppress your travel power for two seconds, though suppression won't be as severe as it currently is in PvE.

    Buffs are subject to a 'diminishing returns' system, meaning no more stacking buffs for huge increases to ToHit or damage. Even healing is changed, with each successive heal giving you 25% resistance to healing for 15 seconds, so that 4 heals in close succession would make you immune to healing for the duration. Healspamming will no longer be a viable tactic.


    Among the other changes are the addition of a range debuff to Taunt powers (a change that carries over to PvE) whereby taunting debuffs the range of powers by 75% - a change that was in fact suggested by the playerbase. Damage powers now calculate damage based on activation time rather than recharge, while all ATs become tougher and more resistant to damage while in PvP, leading to an increase in overall survivability. They're also a lot closer to each other in terms of damage output.

    There's good news in there for those who have been waiting anxiously to see if Base Raids, Items of Power and the Cathedral of Pain Trial would ever be re-implemented. Castle as good as confirms outright that they will: 'We did a lot of work on Bases, Raiding and the Cathedral, but we have to save that for later -- those are all works in progress for a future update.' The four PvP zones are also set to receive revamps in a future issue.

    There's a dedicated Arena PvP community on the US CoX servers, and many of them are agog at this news. Castle's stated goal in implementing these changes was 'for players to be able to bring any AT and powerset combination into PVP and to be competitive and have fun!' To a dedicated PvPer, that could well look like excessive democratization, taking away from the few for the benefit of the many. But then, if PvP is to be opened up to a whole new audience who had shunned it before, perhaps that's what needs to happen.

    For all those who don't know, I'll give you all a quick rundown of the real PvP History...

    Make PvP.

    Ignore PvP.

    Ignore PvPers.

    Move MA to issue 14 to make improvements LOL and cram in a PvP "improvement" so it looks like we have content.

    Ignore PvPers.

    Live in denial and lie about PvP being more balanced, more fun, and more viable for all ATs.

    Make some Arena Options.

    We are not happy with the way slows are working but we will get to that in 2010 err maybe 2011.

    Yes there are more people paying $10 so they can flock to RV on Freedom.

    PvP was and always will be way down the list of priorities.

    FFers had better survivability pre I13.

    FFers are somewhat of a joke now.

    Diminished Defenses. No Mez Protection, only Mez Resistance means that you will be auto mezzed and forced to retreat, phase or hibernate in most cases. Now let's add the fact that FF sets don't have goodies like a built in self heal or +perception, and consume a ton of end with all the toggles running while recovery is less in PvP now. PFF is a joke for all sets as well. Also, Controller's primaries have been gutted tremendously. At least Doms have access to more single target attacks to balance them in this new PvP, but still, all controls have been gutted. To top it all off, Containment is pretty much non existent.

    This particular set has been butchered (yes along with everyone else in various ways) and is at bottom of the barrel with a few others.

    Sure any toon can fare better if they have a whole team backing them up (pre and post I13), but /FF/ now is a poor set.

    Edit *** Playing the /FF/ set has some uses but it is nowhere near what it was Pre I13.

  20. PvP from I13 on is still not fun.

    No defensive or passive toggle dropping, extra Damage Resistance, boosts to damage and more Arena options are all good, BUT everything else is not fun or helping to create a more balanced PvP.

    I am on my last ounce of interest and hope.

    Can we have some positive info?

    Any rays of sunshine for PvP?

    Anything... something... please?

    Oh I remember now! It's that thing that has diminished buffs, equal mez ability like everyone else, 3 decent ST ranged attacks if you add in the EPP, patches??? LOL, slows??? LOL, low HP, control??? LOL, Containment??? LOL, can't reach targets after using your ranged mez attack because by the time your suppression wears off your target is long gone, but the good news is that by the time you reach them again 1 minute later they can be mezzed and you can repeat the whole process.

    CONTROLLERS ARE AT THE TOP OF THE PVP FOOD CHAIN NOW! THEY ARE UBERLEETNESS!

    KEEP PLAYING YOUR CONTROLLER AND BE THE ENVY OF ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FOES ALIKE!

    Careful though, many people have been complaining that Controllers are OPed now and continuously out damage othes which causes a lot of KSing, so you have to develop a thick skin in zones.

    Honestly though, the good news is that we have access to phase and hibernate.

  23. Let's not forget that a Stalker can basically wait unseen, while foaming at the mouth, for the best opportunity to strike after said AVs hit for 1000pts of damage and you are auto mezzed for 1 hour.
