Quote:Thats cuz you be a troller....It's a super duper match to your plants! Poison and plants! It's like a tango...or another type of dance...Ooooh a waltz! They just work nice together.I'm really enjoying my Plant/Poison Controller.
Seeds of Confusion gets everything bunched up nicely for Poison's debuffs.
I can get up close for Venomous Gas and then in with the raspberries.
It will and shall remain an amazing controller/MM secondary!
So shall it be....forever more! -
Quote:I dont know much about beams. Although they looks nice. It was not thematic. Energy was thematic in appearence.Let us know how that goes, because to be honest I haven't been playing my Beam/Poison guy for a while... he's just sort of sitting there until I figure it out a bit better... or have the patience to start another Beam/Traps(?) guy.
What Ill tell you about poison is that solo, you are no different than a blaster, but without holds, or any form of mitigation, other than what is provided by your primary or secondary. You are without the damage as well.
Poison, would be fabulous on a troller. Wonderfull in fact! Debuffing an enemies ability to resist your own holds makes short work of them, and also with the troller you have the mitigation to hold, and remove enemies from hurting you, and the best part is that you literally can avoid most of poisons failings like poison trap and paralytic poison (Although depending on my primary I wouldn't...EVER get rid of paralytic poison! because it would build mags)
However on a Defender and a Corr, poison will eat endurance horribly, and although Neurotoxic venom can be used to slow and then group enemies to allow for the Toxic Spash, lets face it, imagine, a mind troller using Mass Hypnosis on a whack of enemies solo, and then hitting envenom and weaken to hit all the enemies.
I see meltage, although this could very well be done with absolutely every control power set. -
I would tell them that....
"True power is not with your powersets...but the power of friendships you will make throughout your game time, with each unique individual! That deep inside we all remember that we were new once, and should be treated like unique and beautiful butterflies, reaching for the heavens, arms outstretched towards the sun".
Thats what I would say! -
I actually think the issue is not with the blind invite, not with the scrappers and not with the defenders....or controller.
I think it was everyones fault. I get blind invited all the time on Virtue and maybe for the last year and a bit I have been lucky all the time. But considdering I do not think that is even possible, I would say it boils down to communication.
Expecting people to know what you will be doing and what they will be doing (Especially if there are new players playing a new powerset) needs to be addressed.
We know our relative roles and the game does a good job explaining those roles, however if a pack of defenders are hanging out, and you were the last to join the team, perhaps their tactic was always just hanging back, pulling and then debuffing. Perhaps if you needed the buffs and these people were inexperienced, you should have asked?
I usually do not mind taking charge in these situations, and many times it's on my Corr or my Dom, and many people have the the concept that the melee will take point, and then some of the brunt of the leadership....which I feel your team may have been lacking greatly.
Again I could chalk it up to the innexperience of the players you ran with, and their inexperience using Time Manipulation (which is new), but I also think some ownership of communicating what "you" need is also important.
If Im on my Poison Corr, and I know we are fighting mezzers, and things are busy, Ill let people know right before the battle.
"ZZZZ me if stunned"
Took me 2.1 seconds to write that. Thats less time than a load screen and less time to get back to where the battle went seriously wrong.
Oddly
"Buff me"
"Need Buffs"
"Holy freaking hell..I need buffs"
"BUFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Heal Me"
"Keeps your heals on me"
"Need Heals"
Those all sort of took the same time to type
Lastly Etiquette!!!
"Please Sir...May I have a Heal/Buff etc"
Or
"Hey guys...I know you are all swirling and massed in a corner being all time like...but I need some more support"
I dunno. Maybe Im not lucky with blind invites, I just don't have an issue telling people what I need. -
Oh...
Not to make a huge leap here...but remember how dark scrappers and tanks used to complain about endurance!
Poison...maybe the new dark armor! -
To answer the question.
I have The Achillis Heal and Im pretty sure it's proccing. Although it's hard to tell, except I know sometimes I do a ton of damage and sometimes Im doing less. So I assume it is working
I also have the other level 20 debuff with a - to recover and the touch of lady gray chance for negative and I know it procs, just not often. But it does.
I also switched my Psychic Mastry to electric mastry. I figure if I am going to debuff things, I should debuff all things. So Electric reduces endurance and my other procs and debuffs prevent it from recovering.
Thats my theory.
Even though, only I know I am doing it.
Cuz it's a secret! -
-
Venomous Gas should be at least colourable! It's not easy being green!

Quote:I like gravs AOE hold! And I like Minds AOE Hold...the rest I don't care for. Flash being the worst one.The AoE hold isn't any more useless than any other AoE hold.
LocalMan where are you?
The power I do not like very much would be the Ice Control Sleep power. I just hate that power. -
Quote:I bought everything from a box except my Going Rogue Expansion which I bought as a digital download from the NCsoft store.I think that the inability to buy stuff available as VIP is a known issue, but it won't hurt if you post about it on the store thread on the bug forum.
It also looks to me like you're a token short. From your description it sounds like you have 6 tokens (5 to fill tiers 1,2,3 plus one to slot in tier 4). Assuming you subscribed continuously since your forum registration date, you should have 1+ year of veterancy, which would translate into 5 tokens (4 badges + yearly token), and together with the 2 you get for free that should be 7 (unless for some reason you didn't create the account from a retail code). There have been a lot of complaints about incorrect token counts, so I won't be surprised if it's a mistake.
Regarding the IO system, that would be 160 points, not 120.
I only had one token to spend, so I spent it on the shoulder cape. If there has been any downtime in my subscription it would be min a day at most because I pay through paypal not with a CC.
Ill post the store concerns in the store bugs. Maybe that will help others and the dev team make it more solid -
Ok. Update on the funness of poison.
So I took poison trap. Poison trap was unfun! I know it was doing something. I mean...swirling toxic vapour! Neat little gadet thing! 2-6 damage over time per tick...
But thats all I could get it to do. So, it not contributing to my success or survival, I dropped it. Cuz now at 35 I get epic power pools. So, I took Dominate.
Dominate is reliable and keeps me alive better. It's hard to resist, it holds, and stacks with Paralytic Poison. It cant be blown up or accidently set off, and envenom...or weaken...one of em, boosts the hold! Yay!
Just hit level 42!
Just got Venomous Gas.
So...oddly It accepts SO's for -to hit, and - defense, but it says it ignores buffs! When you go to your manage screen you will see what it takes. Endurance Reduction, Recharge and the ones I mentioned before.
The little numbers that tell you the info of what the power does only shows Endurance cost, meaning you A) really don't need more than one slot in it? B) You can put sets in it! c) Or just put endurance reduction enhancers in it to keep it low endy
But the numbers just stay the same from what I can see. But it's still usefull. I put Achillis heal in it. Something that gives a chance for - res and a touch of Lady G chance for negative energy damage.
Overall Venomous gas is nifty. Although I wish I could color it. -
Quote:Im on tier three I believe and used my token thing on the shoulder cape. This is when everything was new, so in my ignorance I might have selected the wrong thing.Nyx, I don't want to get into the argument about the game and the store, but I do want to help you find the best way to get that Controller. Though far as I remember you also had IO's on it and had a problem with them getting disabled. But assuming that's somehow solved (you've decided to pay the $2 rental for example), let's see how far you are from unlocking the Controller.
How many reward tokens do you have now? And how many Paragon Points? Each VIP month gives you another token and 400PP, so even if you don't have any PP then after 3 VIP months you should be able to buy the controller without paying extra.
Points wise I have 880 on the nose. I appreciate our comment. Im not setting an argument up. Im just more interested in how the store development could be done better to avoid conflict.
IO's I am not concerned with anymore. I can either pay 120 points which will grant access to the IO system for any downtime I was facing. Which again would not be long.
As for the controller, it's the same price as the entire Going Rogue Alignment system as per the points needed. Veats are less, and oddly should be more? Khelds are the same as veats, with MM's and controllers being the highest priced toons available.
I agree there should be a system in place which advises you what you can and cannot buy or even what has purchased to allow for the functionality of unlocking specific, desired content or items.
Im not far away from unlocking the controller. I guess the concern was that if something is on sale in the store (Anything) and it comes with the VIP, there should still be the functionality of purchase options to allow a player to buy those disired items.
I assumed that was what the head start was about. Getting things you wanted, however if you are VIP and wish to select something...in the event that you need to go premium, it should still allow that item to be bought. It is after all the points you earned right?
Thats where the sore spot comes in for me. Again...I may not be able to play my controller for 2 weeks because of being premium. Thats fine, but it would have been nice to not have the VIP status blocking me from purchase. -
Ack!
Ok. People. I didn't say controllers should be free! (Although I think they should) I didn't say things should not be bought or paid for.
What I am saying is that the points system stating that during the VIP head start you had the option to buy things, unlock things with the points you had, but there was no functionality that actually allowed this in case someone wished to go premium.
For example. I bought Beam Rifle. I can, now if I go back into the store purchase beam rifle again...and again, and again, and again.
I could not purchase the unlock for the controller. Regardless of being on sale or not, the functionality did not allow for the purchase because It technically was unlocked because of VIP status. Which can be misleading to people.
To clarify, Im stating that the points system is reliant on the functionality of being able to unlock things through a buy option, but said option is either not there, or is there even for things you already have purchased.
Yes I would have unlocked the controller. No I would not have paid for the MM, Rocket Board and other said items because I don't find them appealing to me.
But I am mostly concerned about functionality, and for people stating that I am complaining about locked content, I am most certainly not.
Im saying that the VIP head start offered frill, powers etc, with buy option functionality. Which got people to spend their points. Market changes and the magical appearence of the now "Buy Button" irks me because I did not have the options I wanted before available to unlock. -
Quote:Nope. Said 600 points.I don't remeber they're being any sale on controllers. I think you have a sale on controllrs mixed up with a sale on beam rifle of something.
But I could only wish list it. Else I would have spent the points on it right away! I still have something like 850-900 some odd points available, which were intended on buying the controller.
That being said, Ill be premium for maybe a week. I was only planning on keeping the points to unlock the controller just in case something happened. -
Actually yes. Thanks. Love the animation though. Super swell.
My issue was the that during the VIP Headstart, the prices for certain things were marked down but there was NO WAY of purchasing them.
HOW can you mark something down or have a sale on something but not allow it to be purchased? Defeats the sales point right?
Controllers were 600 points to unlock, but being VIP I had no ability to unlock them during the sale. None! Nada! Nill!
Now, the VIP headstart is done. Freedom is up. ATs are 1200 to unlock! NOW...I have an option to unlock them! Just now!
The rest of the stuff out there I don't care about. But 1200 to unlock an AT is expensive even for someone who has amassed a healthy amount of points.
The issue here is...why offer a sale on something that no one can buy! -
So Im sad.
Im not angry, but Im sad, and I feel sort of duped. I am a VIP for now...and although that is super, and I have made the point od stating that I will be VIP whenever I can be...I still feel jilted...just a little...and here is why!!!!
I had points. I bought beam rifle. I bought some lovely costume chunks, but I thought I made the right choice of keeping my point spending to the min so I could unlock my controller...in case of unplanned down time.
Controller and MM's were advertized as 600 points (If I recall) So I saved my points. Only to find that it has been moved to 1200 points.
The issue I have is that before hand I was not allow to buy them just put them in my wish list, which means not being able to unlock 2 toons becausue I might not have the money.
Veats and Epic Khelds ok
But controller were around from day one, as were MM's when city of villains went live.
I guess my concern is that...(I know the arguments) it feels like when another game offered points, went free to play (eventually) but offered their sotrefron filled with frill.
You really could not buy more than "Action Figures" or glorfied un-battle pet. Then when they went to F2P, people who had been loyal spent their points on frill only to then have products appear, and then change in the market. This then resulted in people having to put more money into their account to buy the things that came with the game, or they needed to access their older toons.
So what I am saying is not as friendly as I think it should be, but I feel as though bait and switch are the words I want to use. I feel like I was given a price...no buy option (Only wishlist) told what I could get, and told what was available, and once the rush was done...the frill rush...the cost changed, the prices exploded, and nothing was there to indicate that this was going to happen.
I feel walmarted....only cheaper -
On a wierd note...it's funny that because I am deaf and not always able to communicate with people, that someone wishes to play a mute character that would go through the same experience that I have been through.
I guess perhaps I appreciate the dialogue because it allows me to speak? Or maybe it's just the reverse. Im so used to not being able to communicate face to face with many people, that I could not imagine playing a character that can't communicate in a game.
I guess it really is fantasy
(Side note) I am not negative about my condition at all...I just enjoy concepts that focus on the inability to interact with others. For instance I liked Monet St. Croix in the X-Books for the same reason -
Quote:Thats all I needed to know, because it's all anyone ever needs to know in any game...even those that pitch the concept of moral options or "Choose your own Adventure" style options...like those super fun books when I was 12.What I'm left with is the way in which I interact with the game environment.
Going rogue teased with the concept of juggling good, bad, the middle and everything inbetween and it did it failry well.
To be honest the only time I have ever seen a game ever allow for the world of "Concept" to really shine, is PnP Dungeons and Dragons...or sitting around in someones basement (Usually their moms) RPing face to face, and making the DM/GM think beyond their own imagination.
Sadly...computers built for mass peoples...or in general still cannot allow for that freedom as they are dependant on specific actions performed by the player to continue.
Or...Make an emapth like my "White-Swan" (hehehe..I named her after toilet paper cuz she fixes team wipes...*Get the joke*) and just skip every story, and get to 50 doing everyone elses story -
-
Sadly Negate...We could start a cult, build a compound and make some koolaid and no one would pay attention to what would benefit the power...especially to make it on par with others.
Oh...by the way. If you PVP...Poison is pretty darn good. I tested it...and well, it pretty special.
On a side note...My toon was just given 45 mill for looking hot!
Has nothing to do with poison, but I spent some of my points to get neat new stipper like things and well...now Im a toxic harlot! AWESOME!!!
Yay Poison! -
Hmmmm. So...Im sort of confused.
I know from reading your postings that you are a conept ninja. I appreciate this muchly.
However you say you speak OOC with your teammates when you are on missions. You also state that you are RP lite, or that emoting or using the ; funtions to display your communication for this toon could possibly be effective.
So my issue is:
If you are mostly OOC when in teams (Because of game mechanics etc.) then the concept you have created would be sort of be game breaing to your concept!
If you are RP lite, creating this type of concept seems trivial because no one will know but you. Unless you are interacting with others the concept fails because well..."If a tree falls" (Know what I mean)
If you played on virtue in an RP group or team this would be appreciated!
However, I guess what my concern is, that you want to create something that is not being used for RP, other than lite RP, that speaks OCC in team chats, that will easily lose it's conctept to the things I mentioned before. Lastly it demands that pre-programed NPC's will respond to you the same as RPers would. Which would require to much AI to really allow, thus limiting you to the contacts and content that the game provides.
This is an amazing concept, and I see others playing mutes or deaf people. I as a deaf person completely understand communication barriers, but the thing is, that in general you also have to keep in mind that a lot of what I feel for each toon I play will always be subject to the topic, when it comes to how they would respond.
None of my characters are the same! Each would not respond based on the text I have been provided, but I realize that the goal of the toon would prolly fit the general mission that I agreed to perform.
Im essentially saying is that Sam...your imagination needs to allow you to fudge things.
If you have the patients for Ghost in the Shell...Im 100% sure you can suspend disbelief...even if just to allow your unique creation to fly...or get hover at least/ -
Quote:No...not at all. Where I live if you do not cancel a doctors appointment within 24-48 hours and you do not go, you owe 50 bucks for the skipped appointment.Precisely. So since a week game time is about 20x the amount that the downtime was....
the next time you are texting in line at the bank, and hold up the line, you have to wait for the next 20 people to pass you by before you go.
And the next time you miss an appointment at the doctor's (for whatever reason, because you gave the same consideration), and they lose an hour appointment, you have to work 20 hours for them to compensate.
And if you happen to have an accident on the road? Fuggedaboutit! Let's say each person held up behind you lost 15 minutes, and I'll guess 100 people (conservatively - we want to be reasonable), right? So 100*15*20 minutes working for them, that's... 1250 hours. So take 7 and a half months off from work to make up all that time.
That's reasonable, for the comparable inconvenience, right?
We are not speaking of delaying others. We are talking about a lack of service that is paid for.
The examples you provided while interesting, do not deal with customer service issues at all.
I also might have missunderstood this as well.
If i did...Im sorry -
I would use the ; to emote what I was trying to say by useing desciptions, genstures and so on.
If you play with a constant group it could be also noises she makes, sound effects, and or a combinations of things that are bolded, or cap locked to gesture of emote different levels of frustration...joy, sadness or WTF type things.
If you plan on seriously role playing this it would work the issue will be in arcs where you need to speak with people and make responces, which may break the level of depth you put into it.
Depending on her power sets she could be telepathic or an empath which would allow for communication either mentally by convaying emotions as opposed to actual words.
If using sonics, vibrations can also be used to describe things.
Pheremones could emit (as insects do) feelings, emotions, and fear, more geared to survival.
Again, where it breaks is the actual game text however if you need to pretend to speak to somone maybe the suggestions I made above are valid options to overcome this. -
Ok...so here goes
My cell phone died. Phone company saw it was under warrenty and I am a loyal customer. Gave me a new phone, 2 months of free features and extra time! WOW...now Im super loyal!
My appartment broke...yes...thats right, it broke. Power went off on my floor for 3 days. Food was thrown out. Appartment manager asked for an estimate. I said 50 dollars. Note sent the mail stating 50 dollars was deducted from my rent.
Computer Store. I buy lots of games. Game I got and was recommended to buy for some reason did not work. Returned game got money back. Store manager pulled up file and gave me 10 bucks off my next purchase. Thanks game store...Ill be coming back.
Ipod...ok so I dropped it in the toilet (Don't ask)...but it dried out...but stopped working. Ipod replaced. The woman was so upset that this "New" product died in just 30 days (No..Mentioned nothing about toilets) that I got a new Ipod...and because she was so shocked 10 dollars off Itunes!
Wow!
Im saying customer service is important. Companies need to know about issues and how customers feel. I am sure the CoX folks know this. I mean, it is obvious.
However if I dropped CoX in the toilet, I would not ask for anything. Felt guilty the first time...I don't want toilet guilt on my mind for the rest of my existance. -
My main money maker is a Grav/FF/Psi Controller. Controllers benifit a lot from FF. People giggle when I tell them this.
The thing about FF is not how the set works, it's essentially what you need from it, and what you need from it is minimal and paired with Gravity which also has wonderfully skippable powers, I had more freedom to slot what I did use and pools which made me a defensive monster.
FF depends on what you pair it with and how you plan on actually using the powers.
Personal Forcefield alone has saved me and my team many times, because I can make the escape and then TP people to a safer location during team wipes. Aid other ensures that, and I am generally unhittable.
The powers you need in FF are simple
Personal FF
The two Team shields
Dispersion Bubble
And Force Bubble
Thats it...nothing more. Thats all I use. Force Bolt is not needed. Repulsion bomb is not worth it. Repulsion field is not worth it.
I know I am not helping the idea that FF is not better than Time, what I am saying is that it has skippables...which frees up slots and power picks. Which in some ways makes it quite desirable.
