Sam...if you think Im being confrontational with you, then you are horribly wrong. Im actually trying to understand whats eating you.
First off, Leadership is not designated by the star, and I never said it was, but admin rights to either change up the team or to remove someone is the person with the stars option because they have the control. So if you are not in the lead...speak with them.
Leadership is defined by the individuals who speak with each other and roll with each other, whether in PuG or in a group of friends. If you can do something better but don't have the star...who cares, you can take the lead or advise whats the next option or action.
1) Not rezzing or kicking people who are not taking any form of direction, or merely don't care about the rest of the team is removing a threat to team success and saftey. This to me is something that has to be done from time to time because of the nature of how some players play.
Which can be considdering "Glory Hogging" Which can also be silly.
However, if a person is inexperienced, then leadership is valuable if they listen, if they don't then it's sort of the same issue as the concern with the "Glory Hogger" if you want a team that is effective and more importantly fun.
2) If you are talking about soloing and kicking everyone from your team, and using your words "If I'll be removing all the people who piss me off, that's what it comes down to anyway". Sounds to me that although you mention that you seek human company, what you really means is people who you expect to follow you. Not that you're leading anything, but you expect people to "Just" know what you are thinking and your playstyle. It also sounds like everyone just pisses you off in game in general if they don't follow your game style.
This is unfair Sam. This is expecting people to just know what you want and how you like it, and since many people who play don't always frequent the forums, and when this goes F2P and all the new players wont have access to the forums, then no one, and I mean no one is gonna know how you like your experience to go.
I don't have much more to add here. I don't expect you to be a smiley bear, bubble with a kitten inside, but what you do need to realize is that like going to the mall, work, bar, club, family gathering, there are going to be people you will mesh with, and people you wont, and "Two dimentional Idiots" are out in the real world as well as in game.
If you bend just a little, you might find a PuG and new folks still here, who have not left the game that you might like to enjoy playing with again and share your goals and style. Don't doom everyone. -
I conquered the issue.
Solo I use either Paralytic of Diamagnetic now as to not break my fears and sleeps.
In TF's I use Reactive considdering Mesmerize is only used for building mags and dropping toggles. Which it does even if a damage tick hits. but because of AOE damage of my teamates reactives - res and damage bonus are Reliable and more beneficial.
I figure, interfase is like Pokemon. Ill just catch em all and switch on the fly. -
Ok. Im not gonna do the quotes thingy. Mainly because you have two posts that I should be responding too with my comment.
I have no doubt in my mind that you are not calling people two dimension idiots to their face. To me, that prolly isn't your style, but there are other ways in which you can give that impression in game without realizing it, and since chatting and creating story driven adventures is what you seem to love in this, and other games, resulting in a meaningfull adventure, sometimes it can be through the tone of the chat.
People can get tired of sarcasm, and also gloom.
Now about you taking leadership! If you don't step up, you can't complain. If you say you can't direct, then you have no place telling someone they cannot or can walk on spikes if they choose.
If you can't speak up and say..."YO your costing me money and gold"..."Stop walking on freaking spikes" then thats not multi players issue, it that you need to A) either take leadership, even for one minute and tell that person to stop, or B) talk in tells with the team leader and have them do it.
I play a dom and a controller. Tanks usually always seem to like to lead, but I lead my teams in TF's, Trials, and I do not nearly have the amount of game time here that you do. But I do know that if a player is continually ignoreing, sponging, coasting for XP, or literrally getting my team wiped because fo foolish actions then my job is to warn...and eventually kick that person off the team. It's not that hard.
With the content out there right now, especially TF's people have done them over and over. Sure new people might not have the excperience, but this is when even not being a leader makes you one. You "CAN" share your experience with them. Even if not a leader you can still point them in the right direction.
I am not expecting you to lead Sam, but for someone so vocal on the community forum, I would expect that you could vocalize something to either a leader of the group, or to the person causing issues to better resolve the concern and get more enjoyment out of the gaming experience you feel you are lacking.
I want you to have fun again. -
Quote:Thanks...I saw that already, I get the percentages and the chance to proc, but do they stack. It says 4 times for a chance to prock. I assume that means I can build a 20% Damage Debuff.
But Im saying that It still does not really seem to change things.
The visual difference is not like reactive which you can see ticking, and Im not really able to visually tell if something Im hitting repeatedly...like a boss or AV is having their damage reduced. It seems lacking.
Would it be considdered usefull for a Dom, or should I switch back to reactive or perhaps take another type -
You know Sam. I usually always agree with you, and in most of your post today I still agree with you in some of the things that you are saying...But if you keep calling people that you are playing with two dimensional idiot's who abondon you, maybe they are abandoning you because you're calling them two dimensional idiots.
I mean, there takes a lot of patients to pug, and you always talk about how things in Multiplayer ruin your fun. You also sometimes talk about how other players act, or do things, and while Im not trying to be a ****** here, maybe the issue is not with the others.
I mean, I respect you as a forumite and a player of a game I love, and a game which I have numerous issues with, whether it be player side or mechanics, but I don't usually abandon players...nor call them two dimensional idiots. Yes...those people exist, but what if, just for one moment, it's NOT them spoiling the fun? What if it's you?
I dunno, again I mean no disrespect (Which is coming accross as passive agressive I am aware) but I had to learn not to think of MYSELF as NOT a Unique and beautiful butterfly so that I could enjoy the fact that Im playing a game I like, and moreso, that Im not L33t and need to work with the players I am thrown into.
I had more fun when I made the call to just go with the flow, and not against the grain, and my friends who i play with now usually call me by my heroes name, and not names I can't mention here.
If you want people not to abandon you...stop using "Brain Addled Monkeys", "Two Dimensional Idiots" and other such nonsense. Or...take leadership and direct the team, instead of talking about what others are not doing....for YOU! -
Sad. I have been playing for years (I did have a different account) and I think the only time Im ever in galaxy is when I need a respec, or during a TF.
Seriously...I just never end up there. -
So I attempted...being silly to use the reactive interface on my mind dom, which was a rather dum thing to do considdering sleeps and fears...and the DOT messed it all up.
So I made the decision to take Paralytic Interfase. I asked around and it seems ok. Mainly love the concept of the debuff of defense. I was having some accuracy issues. Now they seem more remedied.
However now I have the damage debuff. So this is my question.
How much is the debuff to their damage, and does it stack?
I can't tell a difference between the damage they were orginally doing and the damage they are doing now. So is this not worth it -
This has happened to me. This is "NOT" a big deal to me either.
I was on my DOM and essentially was the only real DPS, but I could not reallly do it on my own.
ITF loves some balance but can be doable, but sometimes it just does not work out.
To make you feel better, I have also seen this in the following
~Hammy
~Reichsman
~Babage
~and most recently against Ghost Widow (Did not even get to Recluse) because of a wierd balance of people.
Balance can be an issue, but tanks for some reason think it's their fault. It's not, it's just the luck of the draw sometimes.
You'll get him next time. -
Many people still sub to the game because if they don't they lose forum access and without access cannot complain to people about the game.
Remember kiddies. The Forum is part of the game too...and in some ways it is it's own game. -
Ill put it in the most decent way possible.
If the booby bar is in the middle of the scales it looks wierd enough. Usually mine are close to being either a quarter of the booby bar or less. which would put her at a C or a B cup.
If you go over the half mark of the booby bar your chest becomes very mishaped and "cubic" or "Geometric looking" especially if you are using certain costume parts.
It just looks ugly to me and while Im not being a prude about size, Im talking about the actual look of the Avatar Model.
If you have to take super strength just to hold up you torso then you're prolly enhancing a little to much.
Where are the crotch sliders? -
My mind/Psionic Assault/Ice Mastry Dom feels pretty powerfull.
Damage is awesome, and well, now that she is perma dom (Which was really easy with mind) she esplodes the heads of all people, and on a defensive side she just holds things and smashes em to bits without really being in danger.
she just got her alpha unlocked but not slotted, and she still surpasses pretty much everything I have ever made...ever! -
I always thought illusion was fun, but it was even very redundant as a controller primary. Two versions of invis that people don't even want or take most of the time.
I also feel this way about Grav Controll...people wanting Dimention shift removed for Doms when dimension shift is signature to that set...even though it's annoying as heck.
But why should the dominator version of these powers be better than the controller powers because people want them proliferated?
Group Invis is no more desirable on a controller as it is a Dom, and neither is dimension shift.
And offering the blast and melee of the assault sets, wouldn't you think that for a moment that there would be little to no reason to play a controller other than wanting a support/debuff secondary.
I guess Im saying that what people want is the concept of an uber toon by removing powers from the controller set that they don't like when porting it to a DOM.
Also...half or more than half of the doms domination won't even work for illusion. At least Dimension shift works with domination. -
Yeah...I hope so regarding the level shift.
The constant robot theme though is killing me. ((I didn't realize until today that my mains are (Grav/FF/Psi Controller. Emp/Psi/PM Defender and a Mind/Mental Assault Dominator)) Apparently I must really love Psi powers!
Either way...having an alt damage type would be good. I can see that. It's just getting to the point where I see why people are getting frustrated. Not because of adaptation really, but because the trials really do favor certain AT's and really seem to favor certain powersets.
The only difference is that it's the same powersets over and over that they are favoring. -
I have jugement! Yay!
Otherwise I feel pretty darned useless.
Although my Force Fields are colored really nice, and slotted pretty awesomely, and I have a new button that AOE bubbles all my friends, I wonder whether or not throwing tissue paper on people might be more effective during trials.
My main is Grav/FF/Psi and well, I dont have a clue as to what her point is in trials at all. Other than firing off the occasional Judgement and lore, all of the enemies are mostly robotic (So Psi is ick) and well my grav seems to do minimal damage. (I know I am a controller and that damage is not my strong suit)
My question is why? Im not denting things, but I can hold certain things, and usually get killed by everything...
But at least I have my bubbles right? Wrong!
Everything goes through em. Even PFF which I have specially slotted! They don't seem to do much in trials, but in TFs etc this toon shines a ton.
I feel sort of lost completely. Heck my dom is mind/mind and well...I don't even know where to begin as to take her on trials, because control is almost negligable, and psi damage is blah against mobs except against some of the end enemies.
I am really frustrated here! -
Holy M-Rated Sister Psyche!!!!!!!!!111!!!!
**For all you people out there who make fun of my toons battle panties, now you know it's how CoX wanted me to make her! I now feel completely validified in my battle costume of choice** -
Quote:thats what I was getting at. I see tons of Veats, many tanks, brutes, and scrappers...but the squishy toons because of HP and defense options are just not as well suited.Deleting the rest to make a smaller post. I'll just add that I have noticed a lesser number of support characters doing the trials compared to what happens on team outside of the trials. Controllers and doms are even lesser played on BAFs for one obvious reason(escapee phase). I've only felt the desire to really use my Kat/sr scrapper for the trials. All of my other 50s outside of my Claws/regen are support.
Also...with all the powers you unlock close or mimicing the powers of others the truth is it is smarter to incarnate a melee based HP driven toon. -
I worked hard to get my first pets to level tier 2...
They introduced the new pets and I was like!!!! WTH!
I like the poster before me would have chosen the polar lights because of the singularity type theme...but Im sort of grinded out. -
Quote:I all but but gave up until fighting Antimatter. My Grav/FF who is great, was useless. Pulses killed my Hp easy, and even in PFF the Vicks of doom could Critical 1 shot me with ranged lazer eyes taking off what ever the pulses would not take.Run once, completed once. Never again. Thankfully the game and RNG felt sorry enough to give me the Rare I needed for my third T3 for the +3 level boost.
Giant auto-hit pulses? Pets being effectively useless because Bots are AoE heavy and we need to NOT hurt Anti-Matter? Dying in two shots from Vicky's spamming eye lolazers? Stuffed full of so many gimmicks trying to be 'cool' and 'challenging' and just being annoying?
KIR can go back to Beta, for all I care for it. Even Lambda is more fun than that, and I really dislike Lambda.
Even popping purples like House pops pills I generally had no place on the trial.
Well..except people assumed I was doing something because now with AOE buffs I could actually hit a group of people with bubbles where as before Id prolly die just targeting one person. -
Ok. I have many thoughts when I tried it on my Grav/FF controller.
1) The normal mission sucked for me. Pulses killed half my HP, as it did all types other than the melee set. I was dead (As was my team) and in the hospital more than I was actually playing the damned thing.
The ranged, lower HP crowed suffered...A lot. Enough where entire groups in the TF rage quitted.
2) Finally we did all of the silly tasks to stop the pulses and pushed through to Antimatter. Then the ranged AT's and support AT's were a bright beacon of hope. That was about 10 minutes of the entire trial, and while the Melee set were sure upset they could not dogpile Antimatter, the ranged and support sets/At's finally could actually participate in the trial...mind you for only 10 minutes. But still...it was a bone thrown to us and we took it.
Conclusion
a) this Trial is built for the melee/HP heavy set. For all but 10 minutes
b) this Trial hates ranged players and support for pretty much all of the trial
c) Empaths***Shine Brilliantly***, Therms and Pain finally have a place on a TF, where as in Bafs and Lamda had lesser roles to play making them low damage dealers, or in Empathy's case nill, seeing as it has no debuffs and generally low damage.
So each of the trials favor something, but all have one thing in common, which is that it favors the melee damage/or AOE Damage/Debuffing sets over the support/healing/buffing sets.
So for 10 minutes of an entire trial, trying to kill a boss, a healing or support set finally gets to shine more than what I usually see on trials, which is melee tanks, and a ton of scrappers, brutes etc...mind you, for about 10 minutes.
Undodgeble pulses which can take half a squishies HP...are much more annoying then having to have a heal placed on you for ten minutes or yelling "Disintigrate" to gain such heals...for 10 minutes.
10 minutes! As opposed to (Insert minutes not related to the ten minutes mentioned previously) minutes for the main trial being in the hospital!
I think Melee wins again! -

Quote:Wow...I was seriously worried your head esssploded there for a moment.I can't stand FREEM. I guess it wont go away, but I wish it would. It has nothing to do with CoH.
It is politics that made it's way into the game, a place it has no business being.
FREEM started on the Colbert Report.
"Take the do out of Freedom"
Yes, it is a comedy show. But it is a comedy show about politics. I come to CoH to get away from all that, not to be reminded of it.
I so very much wish FREEM would just die.
*Offers a fair and balanced hug, unlittered by any form of political stance* -
No worse!
You were being Sarcasmsized!!!
((No seriously. I figure with everyone then running to make buffing toons, my trick arrow defender will be a welcome change to the endless new buffers.)) -
My new Trick Arrow Defender is freaking so excited for this update!
-
My main is a Grav/FF/Psi Controller.
I love her but I realize now that her uses are somewhat different then they were before. I think this is mainly do to the trials, although I think if you are an FF player, that the Barrior on another toon is actually smarter because it literally makes that toon more of a swiss army knife.
Although, I do not think the issue is with FF at all, but I believe it's with the assortment of the Trial powers to begin with. The incarnate abilities favor the melee set almost absolutely.
Tanks/Scrappers/Stalkers/Brutes gain powers that mimic alternate AT's while other AT's get nothing that mimic the powers of the melee set. Therefore the melee set gain more out of incarnate powers.
They gain
1) Pets
2) Heals, Defense, Forcefields
3) Debuffs on almost all attacks
4) Area Effect powers through judgement
This is added to their natural powers that they can select with the melee AT...Plus the great HP to boot.
All others gain similar powers, however lets face it, blasters alread have the AOE, as do Doms, Defenders and Corrs.
But nothing is really there that offers melee survivability other than epic power pools, or PPP's.
So in actuality FF, players will feel somewhat redundant, but the powers are still workable. However Im pretty sure there is a blaster somewhere with an itchy trigger finger who gets hopelessly ticked when they fire of a nuke and the tank or melee does more with judement. (Which recharges too damned fast)
Im just saying...anything other than melee gets less bang for their buck.
So stick with FF because it's a good set. Sure not as flashy as others or as much needed, but it's still beneficial, and if you like your toon, like I like mine, they can still be fun to play if you try different creative uses of your powers.
