    * Steel Canyon: The Hellions are living up to their name and have taken to arson.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was a lazy summer afternoon in Paragon City as Nozybida patrolled the skies over Steel Canyon. The streets were uncommonly devoid of heroes as he flew, enjoying the feel of the coming night’s cool, crisp air. There was your usual assortment of Outcasts up to no good about, but nothing uncommon.

Nozy stopped to bust up a few Outcasts trying to break into a garage, he helped out an old lady who was having her purse snatched, and he even broke up a Circle of Thorns ritual and saved a middle aged and overweight man named Dave, who was quite moved that a hero of Nozy’s stature would stop to help him.

Nozy assured Dave that he held each and every citizen of Paragon City in his thoughts, and would always be there to help when they are in trouble. As Dave jaunted off, Nozy caught a whiff of something out of the ordinary in the air. He climbed through the skies till he floated over the nearby buildings. With his super vision he scanned the skyline in search of the cause of the familiar smell.

In the distance, rising like a black tower, a plume of smoke tainted the horizon. Like a shot, Nozy accelerated toward the scene of the fire. His super hearing easily picked up the distressed voices of the apartment’s tenants as they lined the street outside the apartment building, the whistle of the fire marshal rang loud in Nozy’s ears. The sound of crackling fire and burning beams added urgency to Nozybida’s flight.

In moments Nozy descended upon the scene. The building looked as if the fire had not yet fully taken its toll. Some of the windows were burned out and faint scorch marks lined the outside of the building, but there was still time to save the building.

Being the hero that he is, Nozybida’s first impulse was to check the building for trapped victims. He flew straight for a burned out window several floors up only to find his way blocked. He arced up over the top of the building to find more burn marks as the top of the roof was beginning to burn through. Again he searched for a way into the building to no avail. Desperate to gain access to the building he flew down to the front door, only again to find his entrance blocked by some invisible force that not even his mighty super strength or mastery of the forces of energy could penetrate.

Nozy ran around the side of the building hoping to find a way to get into the building and put out the burning blaze. Just then an explosion ripped through the building.

The next thing Nozy knew, he was being beamed into the Steel Canyon Medical Center. Somehow he felt as if his Invulnerability was weakened, such a minor explosion had never phased him before. Much to his disappointment, Nozy was unable to save the building or anything that may have been inside it.

    /end story time.

Needless to say I am a bit disappointed with the new Fire Events. I had no idea until I came to the forum that I needed to get a Fire extinguisher or such to put out the fire. I figured that you know, since I’m supposed to be a super hero, my super powers would be enough.

Not being able to actually enter the building was a bit of a let down as well. I was hoping to be able to enter the building, drag out saved citizens, maybe a cat or two. I did see a few Hellions hanging around, but in a time of crisis such as a building being on fire the least of my worries is stopping the punks on the street.

In any case, it isn’t at all what I was hoping for. Especially being blown to smithereens at the end. Of course, I guess that might simply be a side effect of the gutting of Invuln’s resistances? Who knows, Nozy does have to pretty careful around a pack of matches or tray full of ice cubes now. Let’s not talk about electrical outlets!

Guess I could say nice try? But it doesn’t quite feel right. From reading a few posts in this thread looks like the fire event basically comes down to a kill all mission? Only you need a temp power and you defeat fires instead of mobs?

Eh, like I said, nice try, but not really what I was hoping for.

For those who complain that the Archetypes who have the fewest sets were overlooked... the next planned powersets are melee based.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are we looking at Issue 6 for this? Or are we looking at the year and a half it took to get Soncis and Archery?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Which is the right formula/math that is currently being tested/used?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Circeus:
    7.5 * (1 + (6 * .2 * 1.15))
    7.5 * (1 + (1.2 * 1.15))
    7.5 * (1 + 1.38)
    7.5 * 2.38
    17.85
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Of course, with 7 enemies in range for EA..you get maybe 8.2% def at the most? (I know im wrong..I suck at math but its a rough approx)

Invincibility is what made Invuln so powerful. IMO, Invuln'ers will hate me saying this but Invincibility should be what EA is now in def % and Invincibility % should be in EA

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually Uplink I agree, if Invuln still had it's resists that is exactly what should happen.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Unless an Invulnerability Tanker fires off Invincibility when 12 or more mobs are within range,

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uhh, Invinc is a toggle, you know that right?
  6. The stealth changes perhaps make the least sense of any of the I5 changes we have seen so far.

It doesn't make any practical sense that Stealth, Cloaking Device, or whatever should shut off simply because you attack. Thematically this change makes no sense at all.

Losing the def and stealth of these powers basically negates all combat worthiness the powers had. They are relegated to only being useful while moving or traveling.

Of course it all makes perfect sense when trying to balance PvP for CoH and CoV, but that is a seperate issue.

    [ QUOTE ]
I could reiterate what I have already, but it'd be redundant and you already got ALOT of reading to do. I.E. a good 99% of us all are PISSED.

    [/ QUOTE ]
99%? I call shenanigans on you, sir.

Make your point - don't make up fairy tale statistics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Clintonian is right. It is really only 98.763% that are pissed off.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Here's the real numbers (that's what I get for doing stuff from memory).

    Wet Ice
    0.5% base
1.265% Defence from Wet Ice with ++ SO's.

17.71% Max Defence from Energy Absorbtion (not what I had earlier).

    [/ QUOTE ]

LMAO! And you can post that without doing a double take?

*shakes head* Do you expect tankers to actually slot their primaries anymore? Or are we supposed to devote all of our slots to secondaries and pool powers?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    It's this simple

    Invuln= high res, low def
    Ice= low res high def.

    what gives?

    [/ QUOTE ]

In reality it is more like:

    Invuln: low resits high def
    Ice: no resits low def

Certainly not balanced, and not really working concept wise either. *shrug*
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Wet Ice - six slotted with Defense SO's - provides about 3% defense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Muahahaha, and I thought slotting up a passive base 7.5% resistance power was worthless.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I do NOT pass my posts through PR, community relations or anyone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Obviously.

Best of luck to your brother, he's a good man for doing what he's doing.
  12. Nozybida

    Thorn Casters

    [ QUOTE ]
My point was, right now, holds have jack [censored] for value on a team with a tanker.

    [/ QUOTE ]

LMAO, are controllers catching the 'Woe is me Bug' from defenders now? I love seeing posts like this, stating that such and such is useless, whether it be an AT or a mechanic such as controller holds. Really shows a lack of comprehension about doing anything in the late game other than watching Fire Tankers herd.
  13. Nozybida

    Thorn Casters

Geko, lol, let me start with this. Thanks for listening to the complaints and taking action on it. It is much appreciated.

    [ QUOTE ]
The amount of control powers these minions have will be severely reduced or outright removed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You guys do know there is a middle ground between overpowered and not worth bothering with right? We'll have to wait and see what the changes are, but I hope the CoT Casters haven't just been neutered. Theres a difference between having 1 debuff on you and having 8 instantly slapped on you. Mix it up a little like a previous poster said, spawning a mix of Earth, Air, etc in a single group. That would be nice. Complaints arise when you get 4-5 Earths in a spawn that all lay down Quicksand the instant they are aggro'ed.

LOL, seriously, moderation. It's a good thing.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I think they should. But I really get the sense that they are going to spring it on us when I5 goes to test.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course, the surprise is supposed to be part of "the fun".
  15. [ QUOTE ]
What I want him to do is make it less neccasary. Then I could respec out of it and take more tactical powers. But thats just crazy old me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well put your dev hat on for a minute. How do you make something less necessary? How do you make something more necessary?

We have two aims. To make Stamina "less necessary" and to "encourage" people to slot for more than just 1 Acc and 5 Damage? How do you, as a dev, go about that?
  16. I'm surprised more people aren't flipping out about the Stamina comments. he said he wasn't going to remove it, or make it inherent. He didn't say he wasn't going to nerf it. He did however say he wants players to make a choice about what powers to use and when.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I'm sure there's a middleground between "breezing through missions on Invincible" and "how come my blood is all outside of me?"!

    [/ QUOTE ]

When has this dev team ever found a middle ground with anything? Status Effects? No. -Regen? No. Boss upgrades? No. Endurance Useage? No. Kryptonite type Enemies? No. PvP? No.

    Just saying.....
  18. Nozybida

    Call for Models

Might as well throw my girl's hat into the ring here, because nothing is hotter than Volcano, of the Victory Server. Whether she is flying over Paragon City or battling her way through the caves below it, she is more than enough to set any villians heart on fire.

And not only that, she commands the loyalty of an army of fire imps , so watch where you put those hands Serge.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Acually it's been mentioned in the gamespy article Here That the upgrades will come to CoH eventually, but will be exclusive to CoV for the first while.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm, so is CoH going to turn into the red headed step child of CoV then? New power fx's, costumes, powers, and who knows what else all for CoV but not CoH? *sigh*
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Hurtful insults and disrespectful comments affect us. We are human. To have people disrespect you and insult you and something you have worked so hard on in front of the whole internet is disheartening and demoralizing at the very least.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let me start with this. First off let me say this is really unavoidable given the fact that we have this public forum on which to post. Some people simply have no tact or are looking to hurt someone. Now, if any of my comments have made any of the devs feel that way I apologize (though I can't think of anything quite that visceral that I said).

    [ QUOTE ]
This is NOT the case. This was just a small set of data from a much larger range of tests. Statesman just wanted to post a small example of the results.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now this I find quite hard to believe. If there had been many seperate tests and datamining going on for a period of time prior to the changes how could you not notice when an internal test pops up showing scrappers three shotting +8's. I think a lot of the community's fears come up because of things like this. Things like Positron's alpha striking comment, things like Geko trying to explain how Blizzard is so powerful, things like Statesman saying scrappers couldn't hit the resist caps, things like saying we can 3 shot +8's. It clearly shows that the people in charge of making this game better don't have even the basic concepts of this game under their belt. Sorry but you don't.

If there had been the level of testing that you suggest performed before planning changes to Regen you should have already had a good understanding of what the set was capable of and the fact that +8's popped up you should have sat back and said "Whoa! Something is up here." The fact that you didn't shows that the changes were planned and proposed without any understanding of how the set actually works.

I think the entire dev team needs to from this day forth make a pledge to themselves to really get a handle on this game and the way it is played if you are going to start making such wide reaching changes at this point.

    [ QUOTE ]
Official Threads are not places we herd you to to ignore you

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, it sure feels that way. OVer 5000 posts in the Regen thread (counting the mass deletions) and not a single concern was addressed or discussed. Not a single issue or alternative was ever considered. Such as the fact that IH is now operating at less than 50% of its original power yet we are still paying the full end costs. Despite all the data and reports provided not a single thing way addressed about the Regen changes except we got MoG nerfed as well. I think we can safely assume that the Regen thread was never meant as a discussion thread, but as a "Here's the way it is..." thread.

    [ QUOTE ]
The bottom line is we respect you and your comments, we do listen, and we are glad you play and thank you for being heroes. We ask for your respect in return.

    [/ QUOTE ]

All I can say is, actions speak louder than words. Quit looking at us as Conspiracy Theorists and trying to tell us when we are and when we aren't actually having fun. Listen to us, learn from us, and do what you can to make the game better. This is a great game, but I feel the game is headed in a direction that is not only going to remove anything superheroic from it, but also sap all the fun out of it as well.

I will never be playing it again. But you continue to Nerf PvE powers that have been established and in the game for nearly a YEAR for your glorious PvP balance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We endeavor NOT to change powers solely because of PvP. The powers we are changing are usually because of PvE or PvE AND PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    LMAO!! HAHAHA! Good one States'!
  23. [ QUOTE ]
The power is still quite massive, and probably still too powerful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

LOL sorry, just dropping in late.....but did someone just say the words "too powerful" when talking about Ice Tankers? Man I feel for you frozen guys, truely.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
you could ask them? sure they could lie, but I'm always willing to let people know what they are up against.

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, and this is what people are railing against. I count at least 44 HO's slotted, probably more in your pools. I would also imagine most of your SG has a similar slotting. Not taking a personal shot at you or TA, but do you really think a group in the arena not fully outfitted with HO's has a real chance of beating a group of TA (or any HO'ed group)?

People want a somewhat even playing field in PvP. I don't see that ever happening unless a system is designed to seperate HO users from non HO users.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Which means I expect the dev's to look at it when it's on test and make adjustments as needed prior to it going out to live.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bwahahahahahahahahaha. LMAO!!!!

*cough* Uhm, *cough* I'm okay now.
