I always wanted an Elec/Elec Tanker to go along with my friend's Elec/Elec Blaster. I guess such won't happen or maybe will with enough fuss. Electric Armor and Electric Melee should be shared with CoH!

    [/ QUOTE ]

ELECTRIC MELEE AND ARMOR FOR SCRAPPERS AND TANKS!

ENERGY AURA FOR SCRAPPERS AND TANKS!

    ::Starts to sob violently.::

    I want them so bad..

    Please give them to us..

    I BEEEG YOU, STATESMAN!

    ::Sobs::

    [/ QUOTE ]

Miss Kitty you should know by now that if the devs didn't randomly pick one or two powersets to keep isolated to a specific AT that no one would ever want to play that particular AT...either that or the world would collapse in upon itself...I can never remember which...

can tell me the sound files for Rage and Unyielding

    [/ QUOTE ]

Was wondering this myself. Anyone else know how to disable these?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Neither are in I7 (fyi)...BUT Geko and I have talked a little about Shields. We're thinking that Shields would be a Primary AND a Secondary Power Set for Tankers - and a Primary Set for Scrappers...but this thinking might change. I'd imagine the set is mostly about Defense, but again, nothing has been designed yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So which, if any, new powersets are in I7?
  4. I may have jumped the gun on Jonyu there a bit, but it does get irritating to have red names changing their tune at any time it suits the point they wish to make.

Brutes are more than fine as they are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Am i the only one that just had shivers up his spine?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope. With all the whining over EM I expect to be nerfed. Who the heck knows what else they have up their sleeves though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh I am fully expecting Brute, Mastermind, Stalker, and Regen nerfs. Possibly either Global Offense and/or Global Buff and Debuff changes as well.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
A Tankers job is do soak up damage so they get a bonus to their resistances. Scrappers and Brutes make up for this by dealing more damage.

How can you complain that Brutes have to wait 8 more levels to get an inferior version of Unyielding when they're getting powers like Knockout Blow at level 8 compared to a Tanker at level 20?

Powers are balanced by the grand scheme of the archetype, not via individual powers so it's not fair to compare power for power versus the various archetypes. Brutes are more than fine as they are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So basically the numbers not only for the power within it's set, but compared against other similar powers is meaningless. I get tired of the round about way the devs handle balance in this game. They say if you want to present an argument to use numbers...so we use the numbers to present an argument and they tell us the numbers don't matter.....so we will go and present an argument based on theme and playability and they'll ask for numbers.

Basically what you are saying here is that balance is determined on an arbitrary basis that only the devs can know what the balance points are and how they are determined. That there really isn't any numerical basis for balance of the sets and individual powers.

LOL, do you guys ever stop to wonder why balance continues to elude you?

Two things I want to know:
<ul type="square">[*] Where's the REAL Statesman?!?![*] Who the heck are you?!?![/list]

All this in two days is almost too much to contain...
    Zounds!

    [/ QUOTE ]

First they hacked the servers, now they have hacked States' forum account! We'll all be gone to the Americans before too long!

Still can't shake the feeling I'm being set up though. Been a Regen scrapper for too long.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
OK, that's an exploit I hadn't thought of.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sure, that would be an exploit if that is the way it actually worked.

    [ QUOTE ]
Or simply, when a mission is completed, then the mission is marked as completed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But since this is the way it actually does work, there is no exploit there.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
But these are certainly not worth offering one's firstborn for...

But then it occurred to me that maybe this just shows how starved for something positive the players of this game really are. These reactions are not unlike giving food to a starving man, or water to someone that has just walked across a desert. Maybe you should take this as a sign to give some positive changes to this community rather than nerf on top of nerf.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was thinking pretty much the same thing.
  11. Jack that is the first post of yours since I3 that hasn't made me want to tear my hair out. Thanks!
  12. Just checked, it's late Feb. February 28th to be exact. Still a good two months before we'll see I7.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Tentative plan for releasing the "Feature Update" to the website is mid February

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mid February for the Website Update? So March to see it on Test and April before it hits live then.

I heard DDO is scheduled for a Mid Feb release.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    anyone else optimistic?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not really. I would imagine we'll get the new PvP zone and the 40-50 levels for CoV. Some badges, maybe the new costume options for heroes. A few new tilesets and a long list of CoV nerfs.

I hold no delusions that we will get new melee sets, Epic AT's, or that they are even working on Skills, power customizations, or any of the other highly requested items by players.
  15. Wow, you guys are either overly optimistic due to the holiday season or the nerfs have finally made you nutty.

I would be incredibly surprised if we see more than a handful of buffs to help out the hardest hit power via ED. I also fully expect Regen to take a whacking from the bat, in what form however no one knows for sure except Geko and States'.

I think mostly though they will be concentrating on nerfing the new CoV powers (MM's, Brutes, Stalkers for sure) and starting work on some new nerfs with all the PvP data that is coming in now (probably get hit hardest from that in I8).

he also cons as an AV and can one shot lvl 51 minions for a 2000dmg footstomp. overpowered punk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously. Jack seems like a nice person when you meet him, but he's a meglomaniac. Seriously. His in-game, in-comic avatar is a munchkin build if there ever was one.

And his rank of "Hero" is lame. I would have called AV counterparts "Paragon".

    [/ QUOTE ]

As my sig illustrates, the Statesman NPC was changed to increase the fun for the casual gamer. At least once in their 50 levels they should have the oppurtunity to see how a Super Hero plays, not what we are relegated to playing.
  17. And.....they didn't exactly make the bad guys tougher. All they did was increase boss hitpoints and damage.

So those who formerly got two shotted were now one shotted while those who weren't simply took a few extra seconds to defeat them.

It was an all around bad idea. I would be hard pressed to even call it an idea, that's quite an insult to ideas.

I find it hard to belive these guys can make this entire game, but not come up with interesting ways to make the bad guys tougher. Of course they've been able to surprise me in the past with lack of imagination, I really shouldn't tempt fate here I guess.

    I5

Wow you had to run IH all the time in I4? I could run solo Invinc missions with nothing but Integration and "just repeat 3 attacks over and over and over.. ". Know what changed about that in I5? Nothing I can still run through Invinc missions and "just repeat 3 attacks over and over and over.. "

What I5 did change was my ability to team effectively and survive as a Regen Scrapper. What I5 did change was the entire feel of my heroes and the way their powersets work.

The changes did not promote strategy or make the game more exciting. All it did was make joining a team a gamble for my Regen scrapper and forced my Invuln tanker to herd to be effective.

    [ QUOTE ]
It's only the people that PL who are mad at the changes I5 brought.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why would PL'ers be mad? They get more XP now for doing exactly the same thing they did before. In fact I5 is a buff for PL'ers.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Sure, there's still been nerfs, but I suspect they weren't as severe as they were going to be had the playerbase not caught the problems with the developers' test environment.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll let you all take this where you will so I'll just point out that not a single thing changed after finding out their internal test server had a horrible bug on it.

Actually I take that back, they did end up nerfing MoG between that time and the Issue going Live.
  21. LOL way to completely miss the point gang.

I was making a bit of commentary on the many uses of the term "Conspiracy Theorists" I've seen in this thread and where that all started.

It all happened to start with the I4 regen nerfs and the devs claims of how overpowered Regen was. Their examples included Regen doing such amazing things as solo'ing large groups of +8 bosses. They even went as far as to provide demo "proof" of this feat, a post in which Statesman made a snide comment about us "conspiracy theorists". Well, low and behold, their test enviroment was completely borked.

Apologies were made and thanks given, of course it did nothing to change the course of the nerfs, but I guess that could be viewed as a seperate issue.

You know what you guys are right. This place would be much better off without all the conspiracy theorists around. I mean, if the devs say that Regen scrappers can plow through a dozen +8 bosses it must be true, right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

you have a link to that because last I hcecked states was prety set on the rule of 3when it comes to soloing (3 white con mobs to a hero*

    [/ QUOTE ]

LOL, weren't around for the I4 Regen nerfs were you?

::hoses Nozy off with a fire extinguisher and jumps in with a riot shield::

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It's okay, I'm a regen remember.....oh wait......

    [ QUOTE ]
Statesman needs to stop lying and start explaining.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't say he is lying. It's called spin. When you're part of upper level management you learn to say and hear things in ways other than the way they sound, if that makes sense. He's just being a business man. He knows what most people on these forums want to hear. So he'll tell them that. Then later, when circumstances present themselves he'll do something completely different and explain it through some logic only philosophers and Democrats think make sense.

Take the PvP as an end game for example. He can say now "PvP will always be entirely optional." The dev team spends lots of time developing CoV and building an end game around Objects of Power and base raiding, then when no one is interested in it and complains about lack of end game content, they'll make changes. Give the PvP rewards that effect PvE, they will find ways to "encourage" (Dev speak for force) those not interested into PvP to remain competitive in PvE, thus sinking the amount of game time required on the dev's internal matrix to extend their leveling time and thus subscription length.

Of course one could still completely avoid PvP, they'd be gimp, and they'd be completely out of the power range of most players, but hey it's still optional. He never "lied". etc., etc.

I understand why Statesman says the things he says. I even understand why he does the things he does (if not the method used). Doesn't mean I like it, or that it's "fun".

As for the flames....go back and read his reasoning for the Regen nerfs. You'll find everything he said there. He did specifically site Regen scrappers as skipping missions, avoiding content, exclusively street hunting to have fun, etc., etc. None of it remotely accurate, but at the time was a good way to "spin" the reasonings.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Actually I like everyone's avatar and would love to here all the regen's here talk about why they have theirs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think mine is pretty self explainatory. I change my avatar and sig quite often, but this one might stay for a while.
