Quote:K, you lost respect for all of 10 people, lol pvp community. With the buket of Awesumness that was I13, we got leik Over 9000 new pvpers, if we do it to PvE, we might finally overthrow WoW.Because it isn't necessary. There are already plenty of functions in place that allow you to adjust the challenge to suit your power and preferences they simply aren't mandatory. Personally I tend to enjoy a bit of challenge and will push the difficulty to the point where I'm almost dying (although I have little interest in setting it to the point where I'm going to die since that's not enjoyable) however I have no interest on forcing my play style on other people.
This is the fundamental difference between PvP and PvE. In PvP a certain amount of balance is required between different characters types otherwise you end up with one build that is the be all and end all of PvP. In PvE everyone can do their own thing, if I choose to solo at +0/x4/no bosses and someone else chooses to solo at +4/x8/bosses what does it matter to me? I'm having fun doing my thing and they're having fun doing their thing. This game has tons of levers to allow you to play at a difficulty appropriate for you either using the standard difficulty setting, the Ouroborus/TF challenge settings or the AE (at least in single player, I'll admit the team difficulty settings break down a bit at the high end).
Now was DR the right choice for PvP? I can't say, I don't PvP have no interest in PvP and wouldn't particularly care if the PvP zones vanished from the game (although I would miss the Shivans). That doesn't change my view that DR is the wrong fit for PvE.
I will note that this thread and the actions behind it have caused me to lose any respect for PvPers in general. I apologize to the decent PvPers who have been tarred with the same brush but trolling on behalf of PvPers is not the way to make PvEers like you.

RITE?
(WoW has DR, its better then ours, can we have their DR?) -
Guiz. jussd ingore these l33+ self rightious PvE farmzorz, they are unfair and don't want anyone else to get anything

These game mechanics are desperately needed. The learning curve for beginning to PvE is too high and only IOd, accoladed and expensive toons can PvE the way we meant for people to PvE, +4/8 Man.
Devs said it and it made all PvP vets arguements invalid, so therefore, this is also true, and all the people opposing these changes are HARDc0r3 l33+ PvE Farmerz and don't accurately represent the PvE population. -
I am currently feuding with triumph server. I am griefing your thread now.

Well, for those arguing against these amazing and very sorely needed PvE changes, here is the simple reason the devs gave the PvP community.
These game mechanics are desperately needed. The learning curve for beginning to PvE is too high and only IOd, accoladed and expensive toons can PvE the way we meant for people to PvE, +4/8 Man.
Thats not my arguement, thats the devs, simply changed PvP to PvE and Test Arena/High End PvP for +4/8 man.

Is A_F just playing devil's advocate or is he actually thinking any of his posts make any sense to anyone?
Honestly, A_Fs posts are simply running around the issue while not attempting to add to the conversation due to a lack of insight.
It is quite obvious his experience in real "Zone" pvp is either limited or non-existant.
Psst. Zone PvP Does, In fact mean something beserk like 6vs 12 or 1 vs 7 or 9vs6, its these despairities that make a unique kind of skill shine, arguably the only skill that is adequatly expressable in post13 pvp.
Now, back to the OT.
PvP IOs aren't helping the game, not in their current incarnation at least. -
Why was I not properly informed, I declare a feud

Quote:Not to be rude, and to get this troll out of my system;Lets try this again with your own example.
You are getting three times as much done at work and your boss notices it and gives you a giant raise. Now you go out to a pub after work and everyone is playing darts. You want to spend your raise to play against your coworkers on a bigger dart board with better darts.
That is entitlement.
Do you have your own babelfish translator yet? -
Quote:Actually, look outside the bolded, he said "zone" pvp, where teams and skill can make up a large amount of the holes that IOs leave, so, technically, people with amounts of zone pvp experience, will agree with mac. In zone, its team on team, and arguably, you having UBERL33T ios on your blaster/stalker/troller/corr/dom/emp/UBERTOON, is very minor when infact, most of the zones are won by overwhelming numbers.Missed this on my first pass. Its that word "NEED". Saying you don't need something in pve means you can win without it but with it you will win faster or more easily. In PvP it doesnt mean the same thing. In PvP saying you don't need it means not having it won't affect your win/loss ratio and that is pretty obviously false.

Quote:I will agree they nerfed Mission Architect way too hard for a futile mission against farmers. Farming can be lessened, sure, but it can never be truly stopped.
I think the biggest problem was simply the amount of nerfs piled onto the Mission Architect.
Right now I think they can take some of them back. There are only two "nerfs" that I would agree with.
- The custom group rank issue (Prevents boss farming)
- The ally XP elimination (Prevents having statesman as an ally to help beat up hellions as a lowbie)
The rest were kind of over-doing it. Custom critters should award full XP regardless of difficulty (even standard minions are tougher than normal). Now, if your critter has no powers, then sure, take away XP, but since they are inherently tougher than normal mobs, they should award full XP. The badge nerf was just ridiculous. You got one inspiration! Here's your badge! Please... next thing you know there will be a badge for logging into the game for the first time, they can call it the n00b badge.
Its true. Personally, I have an issue with the custom group nerf, it completely invalidated my "War of the Ranks" Arc, and it maed me sad, so very sad.
If they made it so all boss groups were punishable, thats livable, but having boss's in my LT only group spoils pretty much everything and muddles the plot -
Quote:Honestly, if the psy proc gets fixt, I'ld rather fite a good psy then a good fire any day. Archery isn't common enough for me to get a good feel on that.Guys Psi is not good because of the placate proc. Please get that misconception out of your heads ^^. Psi has 4 attacks all at an 80 foot range. 3 of those attacks come with really quick animations. You rarely ever root if you know what you are doing. You can snipe apart from those 4 attacks. You can spike. You have delayed damage. Yes the placate proc helps but apart from duels it is amazingly useless. Enough said. Archery is better than sonic by far. Range is king and sonic has animations which allow you to go take a dump and come back. Fire is meh for most but if you are good and/or used to the animations it becomes a whole lot better.
Same principle applies however, you rarely root on a sonic if you know what you're doing, I can keep a constant chain of shriek and scream going just by timing it with the jump. trouble with shout though, which admittably, roots, the damage is often worth it and shout is easily avoided if not wanted. -
Quote:I beleive we recognized that during I13, thanks for your Clairvoyance, now, can you tell me when I will win the lottery?Yessssssss excellent that attitude is why DR was inevitable. I'll go out on a limb and say expect more of the same from the devs in their next attempt to fix pvp.

Markets are pvp, how dare you prevent me from purpling my warshade

Some one was asking for a comparison with sonic and archery, hear, joo kan haz.
Snap Shot: 232.4 Dmg
Shriek: 201 dmg
Aimed Shot: 343.6 Dmg
Scream: 304 dmg
Blazing Arrow: 512.1 Dmg
Shout: 446
Ranged Shot: 592.9 Dmg
Sonic Super Snipe: OVER 9000 SON
_______________________________________________-
With Aim and BU:
Snap Shot: 379.9
Shriek: 353
Aimed Shot: 569.7
Scream: 530
Blazing Arrow:836.6
Shout: 784
Ranged Shot: 1025.0
Sonic Super Snipe: >(Insert number thats better then divine's here)<
Sonics damage looks subpar, but the delay on it and the -res makes it easily outshine archery in cases of taking down targets that can survive an initial attack chains. -
Psy isn't nearly as amazing as a set as it seems ATM, I conducted an experiment recently, few months recently that entailed buying a nice inf's worth of placate procs and dam/range hamis. I had them duel me once with the procs, then once with D/R hami "++"'s, then I gave them a placate proc that I bought.
I had the psy/ems duel me standard NO TS;HD with the proc, I lost 2 matches, tied 1 won 1, 5-2, 4-1, 3-3, and 2-3 respectively.
I then had them replace the placate proc with a 50 dam/range hami "++", I tied one match at 2-2, won 4, closest of my winning matches being something like 7-4( We both brought all reds, was so lulzy)
Just to paint a picture of the shake up of the tier list once the placate proc gets fixed, Although it will still be decent, becuase the proc will prolly still fire occassionally, but not like it is now, and I beleive it will be knocked off the top three. -
The truely sad part is, the die-hard farm population still use AE as the prefered farming location. For a variety of reasons, some of these reasons so obscure and forgotten, the devs would have a hard time noticing them, if it even occured to them to fix them.
Personally, I'ld use AE to PL and farm for the simple reason that I can farm in cappie and Atlas rather then G-vill and PI. If the decline in play has been from farmers or average players in a larger majority, is hard to tell, but AE simply isn't as used as it should be. Considering how wonderful it has the potential to be.
They need to buff MA and simply resign to the fact that people are going to farm it regardless of whether the xp is equal to or more then average content simply becuase of location and the elimination of the repitition of dev created "farm maps"
A ceaseless war against farmers is the same thing as waging a war to rid the world of ants; if you succeed, it isn't going to be in your life time, it won't be worth it, and you will regret it soon.
IMO of course, rage at me if you wish, I got my popcorn ready. -
Imma throw this out there;
Hai, I'm Epsilon.
I have a blaster,
He had 6 IOs in him and all SO's otherwise when I xfered him to freedom,
5 KB ios and a perc proc.
He is now almost completely IOd out for approx. 750 mil, all earned in pvp IO drops.(Given that I am an appalling cheap person and refuse to spend 50 mil on a purple I could wait on and get at 20)
I venture to say I did quite well with just SO's, managing 400 rep within a week or so or sporadic play.
Now the givens are there, he is a blaster, an I10 sonic blaster, it's true, but to make your conditional statement untrue, all I need is one example. To play High-End areas such as 1v1 arenas, and arguably high-end Fite Klubz; Gear and Loot play a large factor in these, but in zones where things such as temp powers, inspirations and geometry exist, skill is a large factor in these. So, is it true that you NEED Super IOd uber builds? No. Are they useful and helpful? I refuse to say you can name a scenario where they aren't. -

Whether its more lulzy then what that baddo states dude on freedom sends me everytime I turn his toons into swiss cheese would be interesting to see.
