Also you don't really need super high survivability in the Brute. Kinetic heal is insane and recharges really quickly. At 50 you can have a 500 HP area effect heal up every 5 seconds or so along with the melee players means they aren't going to die unless something truly bad occurs. Far more likely that the Kinetic will get a boss on them and get one shot to be honest.
    I do almost agree. Almost.

Troller's control does indeed mess with Brute's fury generation but it brings 3 things that are quite important:
-1 Every defense sets have weaknesses, it will be some villain groups or specific AV who will mash down your brute. Having CC options one some specific mobs can be very life saving.
-2 At some point you WILL fight groups larger than the aggro limit. Crown Control will help troller himself and eventually Scrapper to survive overnumber.
-3 A lot of Kin's power have to be casted at melee range to get benefit. The kin himself "could" skip FS (but than his damage abilities are very hurt) but Transfusion and Transferance are vital. Having strong Controls allows to sit more safely at melee range (some AoEs can be terrible for squishy, even minion's AoE, Nemesis anyone?) and play your Kinetics propely.

Now Corr and Def''s nuke are great. Mosly for kins with natural more recharge and endo boost on demand. But in my experience what is stated earlier is generally more important.
On the pure damage table Controlers completely over damages Defenders with Concealment (0.65 vs 0.55... x2). Corruptors does have both more damage scale (0.75) and a highter damage cap (400 vs 300%) but in my experience the fact that play Kin takes so much action/time really make the difference lower.

    As for others,
I do think a low defensive Brute will have hard time. Transfusion is great but it absolutely doesnt make the trick on a /FA brute fighting +4 Longbows for exemple.

As for scrapper it kina depend on what the brute is. Lets say if the brute is Elec than a high single target damage scrapper like Katana would be better, is the brute is DM than maybe Elec or Fire would cover the AoE.

    Couple of opinions:

    Quote:
    Kin/Sonic, FF/Sonic, and Emp/Sonic Defender
Damage on this trio will most likely be very high with multible res debuff but:
    - I might be more effective with Corruptors, damage scale (O.65 vs 0.75) may do seem much but damage cap (+400 vs +300%) is really something when you have FS.
    - I'm a fraid without any very strong dmg resist buff some vilain groups/AV may mash you down pretty easy with, for exemple, Defense Debuffs. You also may experience issues at low level to eat some alphas.

    Quote:
    Fire/Kin troller, Fire/Rad corr, Rad/Sonic def.
Sound better on the damage table, but you will get most likely trashed against +4x8 if something goes wrong (ambush spawn away from anchor?).

    Quote:
    3 sonic/cold corrs
There is no way this trio is better than, lets say, cold-cold-KIN.
Also you will very most likely have hard time against heavy defense debuffers (AV might be fine because of stacking damage/recharge debuffs but huge +4 packs will hurt bad).

    Quote:
    3 Emp/Sonic/Dark defenders
    No fulcrum shift :/

    Quote:
    3 Fire/Rad trollers.
This combo is pretty much strong against anything but like you do lose a LOT of damage not having a Kin and you will have many problems on all situations when you lose anchor or have non-optimal mob packing.

    Quote:
    3x Broadsword/Shield Scrapper
Why BS? Tho, you will have HUGE endo issue at low level, you will die on everything that is extreme (+4x8, defense debuff) untill high end gearing.

    Quote:
    Ice/Fire tank, Fire/En blaster, Fire/FF troller.
    Why Ice/fire? Why fire/en? Why Fire/FF?
No kin is sad. No heal (like 0 heal) is sad on extreme situations.

    Quote:
Fire/Dark corr, Fire/Fire blaster and an Ice/EM tank.
Survivability will be on the roof. But no Kin will hurt bad. At low level endo will be a bad problem.
Tho, why /dark?, why /fire? and why Ice/EM?

    Quote:
    Kinetic/Sonic Corrupter or Defender
    */* Brute
    */* Scrapper
    Enlight on */* please
Tho, Kin/Brute/Scrap will definately be badass but you have to go with a very defensive brute set or you will have problem to handle very large/high spawns. I wouldnt pick a def or corr tho, trollers have more to bring on the table imo.

If you had access to any AT/build, what do you think are the best 3 players synergy at high level? At low level? With full purps? With just DOs? For leveling? For AV/TF/SF trio'ing?

    Wrong forum, cant delete...
  5. Scrapper may appear as a not very group oriented AT, actually they are not in the early stages of the game. You cant really tank, you have "ok" AoE but nothing close to blasters, you often die because your taunt aura drains more than your weak defense can handle.

BUT, after IOing or/and level 40+ Scrappers become the ultimate damage dealer.
First of: This game is all about Fulcrum Shift. If you have this buff you WILL kick *****, if you dont you wont. Scrappers are the highest damage AT that can survive mele, tho benefit of fulcrum shift. Most baslters will just die on huge +4 packs because of AoE (Nemesis flame throwers) and aggro limit. Scrappers have the power to survive this and therefore often sit at +300% damage or more.

Second point is that AoE becomes less important when you are in a hight level team. At some point even tankers, defenders or trollers can melt down the minion/leut trash without any effort. Now it doesnt mean AoE is usless but your ability to do very high damage will be mostly revelant on bad *** AVs and such.

Now if you are looking for a very overall team-friendly AT maybe you should try a Tanker, a Corruptor or Controller. I m not saying neither blasters are bad, their ability to deal great damage at -range- makes them very handy in some missions or against some AV. Scrappers are "just" the ultimate damage.
  6. Ok thanks. Tho the with maneuvre I hit cap too and swaping Luck means I'll have to toss one into Grand Cover and losing Kismet.

Does anyone have serious numbers on 2% to-hit VS 20% accuracy?

Or you can take CJ and Assault and throw the IO for +Tohit in CJ and get a nice dmg buff out of it too.
I dont need much dmg boost actually, AAO and Fulcrum Caps me most of the time.
Tho on my build I need the defence from Gausian x6.

With CJ/FA, I dont have ninja running but I have Super Speed.
  9. I was thinking bout switching cmbt jumping for maneuvre and focused accu for tactics.

Pro: Caps def on every positions (my build is a 1% from cap on ranged def), gives team bonus.
Con: I lose the mini travel power hurdle+CJ.

Endo-wise its about the same, CJ cost almost nothing but Focused Acc is about twice the leadership toggles.

Now the real question is what is Tactics vs Focused Accuracy. Mids states:

    Tactics: 7% to hit, 48%perce, 36%res blind
(I dont need the res status on it, tho its always good for the team)

Focused Accu: 5% to hit, 60%perce, 70%res hit debuff, +20% accuracy
  10. I was thinking bout switching cmbt jumping for maneuvre and focused accu for tactics.

The problem is that I have no idea what this 20% accuracy actually gives compared to the +hit.

On the defense side: Scrapper and Brute have the exact same scaling on powers but Brute's caps are way better. Actually the +res cap really matters here but 75% vs 90% really makes a huge dif. Tho it does only really matter if/when you play with a heavy +res secondary (FA, Elec...) or/and have a regular use of orange insp or/and have a strong +res buffer in your group (Sonic, Fire..).
    Quote:

    Is what I said.
To clear any misunderstanding: Yes res cap matters and Brute is very stronger in specific situations (ie buff, specific heavy res sets). Brutes are tanks (the tank role, not tankers, god how complicated is this?) they do this job pretty good.
Yes I misused the word "Defense" two times. I meant something like "Resilience".

    Quote:
    the fury nerf
Fury wasnt nerfed it was "changed". Its a nerf considering it hardly goes past 70% now, it was buffed also because it now decays very slower (in action) and therefore goes up faster. The fury you build out of tanking single AVs and GMs was also buffed, its now about steady 65% or so.

Brute nerf comes also from the lowered damage cap, it was +700%, its now +575%, it doesnt sound much but its quite noticable if you play with a Kin.

Tho, just like you said, ATs are pretty much where they should be atm.
Tankers are for those who just want to hold aggro and be resilient.
Brutes are for those who want to be able to tank and deal great damage.
Scrappers are for those who want to deal melee damage.

(Stalker are another and sad story)
  13. I was about to post what Umbral said but... Umbral just said it.

In my experience, I was a brute (actually two brutes but my stoney isnt anything like a damage dealer even with niffy IOing), I rerolled a scrapper.

On the damage side: Brutes doesnt "over damage" Scrappers (see Umbral's post) but they "Do almost as good in some situations". Brutes need fury, they need to get hit, to hit, to be kept in action (at least every 5 seconds). There will be many specific situations when front loaded scrapper damage will be far more usefull.

On the tanking side[: Thats the whole point to me. Thats why I rolled a Scrapper.
Brutes are meant to take aggro (they want it, they need it, they can handle it) where Scrapper are meant to survive mele. I play almost always with two friends, we played brute/brute/kin, my pal was the "tank" brute and I was the "damage brute". It didnt worked so well because either I get all the aggro (and die or make him useless) either I hardly go passed 50ish fury and do very bad damage compared to, lets say, a Scrapper.
With my scrapper I can deal only slightly more dps and my defense caps are lower but I since i dont rely on specific situations my overall damage is way highter, my defense allows me to survive to the couple of mobs I aggro.

2- It has both Shaodw Punch and Smite so I will actually be able to pull a decent amount of damage before I'm fully enhenced with whooping recharge and stuff.
3- It sadly doesnt have Fireball, maybe I can live with it. Tho it does have a travel power and I dont relay on a stupid jet pack.
4- Siphon life has some heal
5- I dont 6 slot stamina and true gift enhencing recharge, end cost etc.. what makes me feel bad.
    6- I have a meeting **** I m late, see ye
  15. First, thanks for all the infos, even those I havent replied to. I take a look at all builds an read everything, I just dont always have time to reply.

Primarily, Grant Cover give you, and nearby teammates, 13.84% DDR and is why you take the power. See Werner's prior post about how DDR works and why having a high percentage matters. GC also gives you and your teammates 13.84% Recharge Debuff Resistance and, while useful, isn't the primary reason to take the power. Finally, GC also gives only your nearby teammates 8.44% +Def to all but Psionic, which is again not generally a reason to take the power, but may be useful to your team. By nearby, I mean 15' radius.
What I dont get is how the power works exactly, the tooltip says its 10 sec cooldown and 0.75 sec duration.

Well I have speed boost perma and Transferance on demand but yeah with one Fulcrum hit I hit the damage cap pretty often.

is quite interesting. Actually I dont know if melt armore is such a loss compared to fire blast. I mean, ignoring the -Def it is still a -10% res that refresh faster (actually twice faster, does it stacks?) than it last. Thats a straight 10% dmg boost that technically "overcap" (the word doesnt really fits here) damage bonus.

Now maybe I could also skip Tactics and slot up Dark Consump with Oblit and save a Crush impact. Or maybe it just ***** everything up. Tho I can very much not having Dark Consum, I like almost never use it and I run already all the Leadership toggles.

I also see that you use 5x LotG 7.5 AND Basilik's Gaze 4 pieces.. does it stacks? I thought it was only 5 times that same effect.

Btw, I feel kina bad having to slot up Stamina with 6. Is it like THAT worth it to go cap AoE def?
And can anyone explain me how Grand Cover works? I mean, it doesnt looks like a toggle, duration states 0.75s...

Does it actually works? My brother tryed it and said it never procs, like -never-.
  18. Ok first thanks for the builds and explainations, cant check them out atm I m at works.
Tho, I was thinking about not going for Fireball in a 50 build. I'm definately picking it for the xp time for AoE reasons as I'll stick to me 2 basic attack till I have enough recharge.

But I was thinking lately, in a minmaxing point of vue, I have no interest on fast killing minions around me till I'm done with bosses. I mean, both AAO and Soul Drain scales on mob number, so having stuff around me actually buffes me. Right?

    I dont get it :x

@ OP: You state that you're looking for pure DPS. This includes Fireball by your first posted build, but other builds don't have it. Is Fireball something you want in the build? Also, since you have a /Kin in your party, do you need a travel power? Eliminating a travel power frees up a build quite a bit, and with Ninja Run available, it has become a fairly common practice even without a /Kin to speed you up. Finally, I know you said no purple enhancements, but would you be willing to do a set of Absolute Amazement in Boxing since it's a fairly inexpensive purple set?

Once I get this info, I'll put a build together for you.
I'v been toying a lot around Santo's build and mine to try to compromise, without great success I must admit
So much to do for work lately...

Fireball was in my build indeed, I dont know if its "something that I want" but I'm afraid the complete lack of AoE might be an issue on the long run (yes my partnerts can decently melt down minions but this is still CoH, AoE means a lot). In the team we had before I was playing an Elec/Fire Brute so I'm kina going the complete opposite way

As for travel powers I do have a Kin most of the time and even without ninja running I could live with the 10k inf jet packs (heck I'm superspeeder anyways, I use the jetpack a lot). Of course its always an ease to have travel power.

For the build itselft, I was wondering if sacrifying Fireball for basicly more +def carriers was worth it compared to just pick Shadowmelt and drop its cooldown to about 30 sec.

(Edit: as for resources I have about 17 characters who can decently run Super Merits missions, so thats about 17 LotG every four days... tho, I dont have infinite time and I hardly do it with 3 toons. So yeah I can affort 30ish Million enhencements but real purps goes for about ten times this price).

I came up with that, I'm not quite sure, also note that I'm not puting any Hami in my builds because I have no clue how they work.

  21. I dont understand how Phalanx fighting works or how much +def it is worth. Neither actually how Grand Cover works actually :x

(Oh btw somehow all the enhencement are lvl 30 on your build)
  22. I was talking about purple enhencement sets.

I'm looking for a pure DPS build, I'm 99% of the time teamed with 2 irl friends. We'v been playing Invul brute/FireKin Corr/Fire Brute (I was the brute) for a while now and GR was an occasion to sart fresh.

We'r now WP Tanker/EarthKin Troller/Scrapper, so DM/SD scrapper. I tried a lot of characters but I think this one sounds right. Tho, I dont really need much survivavbility since my tanker takes most the hits but I need to survive melee (and survive AAO thats it). So yeah, I need basicly a DPS more than solo build.

About your build (builds?) I dont get why you go take those Hamidons in Deflection and Active Defense, mostly in active Defense I must say.
  23. I'm trying to achieve the best DPS build possible without having to rely on purples for the moment so I guess that means focusing on global recharge and enough +rec to handle the charge.

I think maybe the best is if you could "explain" your build (sorry I'm asking much).
  24. Yeah, tho I'm not looking for a solo build or something but more for the max dps possible.

Edit: btw how the heck are these Enzyme Exposure working?
