Quote:Its inconvenient for everyone attempting to change alignments. What the hell are you talking about .No it's not. There's rationale there. YOU simply don't subscribe to it because it's inconvenient for YOU.
The devs didn't want players flipping back and forth between alignments at will when the system first started.
Now, with F2P, they're going to monetize that desire. You can either spend 4 days flipping from full hero to full villain (or vice-versa), or you can pay real money for an alignment change token which will accomplish the same thing instantly. -
Now that I got a little sleep, I have to say that the farming excuse used to justify the 20 hour restriction makes no sense. Having a three hour delay would be sufficient enough to stop this..but 20 hours ? Yeah its done for money reasons.
-
Quote:Bad logic and game making there. Two days ? Why ? Cause you have to earn 500 million experience or something. No, its cause it wont let you make progress toward you alignment change for 20 hours. The rest of the game doesn't mysteriously disappear for those 20 hours. It's not like you can't do anything else. Also, you have to sleep and eat and go to the bathroom and go to work/school/socializing SOMETIME. Might as well be during that downtime.
It only takes two days for each alignment shift. Don't try to pass it off as any kind of hindrance. Two days. That's not long at all.
Using your logic I can make a video game, put a 20 hour delay in the campaign mode, and then justify it by claiming you should go to work or play multiplayer. -
Quote:IOs and the Incarnate system "don't count" when it comes to AT issues.
That's the excuse Brute boosters have been regurgitating for years.
It's bogus shield they hide behind so they can keep being utterly broken.
It ignores the fact of what happens when you balance damage against survivability, but allow Brutes and Scrappers, who have the survivability bar pretty high to begin with compared to other ATs, to gain more survivability via IOs and Incarnates without any required decrease in damage. You lower the risk of danger they're in, but they keep their damage edge.
Damage versus survivability is a dumb axis to balance on anyways. More survivability only becomes useful to a point. Once you can take the damage from whatever you're fighting, more than that is redundant. Comparatively, increasing damage is always useful, and doesn't become redundant until you can one shot anything and everything (GMs, Hamidon, you name it).
That is a point unlikely for any character to ever reach.
But being tough enough to handle like, 95% of the game's content, and see no drawback from not being as tough as a Tanker, is a point much more easy to get to, and one Brutes and Scrappers often do get to, and will continue to get to more easily the more Incarnate abilities, IOs, team buffs and temp powers are added to the game.
That should NOT be ignored, regardless of if the game is or is not 'balanced around IOs'.
.
Well I do not think Brutes need a nerf. I do however agree with you about Tankers receiving a buff. I like the idea of Brusing but its not enough cause it requires spamming of your tier 1 attack. If all attacks had a brusing effect it might work but then the issue comes with it stacking on teams with more than one tanker.
Everyone plays multiple ATs so you cannot really catagorize most people as Brute lovers , or Scrappers or Tankers. Hell most of the people you are arguing against probably like to play Tankers. The opposition on these boards simply comes from a crazy crowd most of which are either too parochial to understand what benefits the game overall or just argue for the sake of arguing. Others are dev worshippers who, for example, in my current thread are actually defending the 20 hour delay restriction with alignment missions despite it being completely irrational for fun reasons and most likely a guise to swindle people out of their money by making them buy an alignment token. Hell I have seen these people argue against having a click heal in Energy Aura and Fire Aura's Burn not being fixed.( Not just my threads only) Yet when these changes occured they all turn faced and praised the changes. The same will happen to Tankers. Brusing alone proves you were right about Tankers needing a buff. When they are buffed yet again , I promise all the people that stood in opposition to you will turn face. You can already tell their whimpy nature with some posters telling others they should ignore you because you are outspoken having been advocating a buff to Tankers for so long. Funny thing is they all play a super hero game yet they lack the main trait of a super hero....eccentricity. They are all interchangeable.
If you want my advice, you should follow the old adage:
"IF YOU CAN'T BEAT THEM, JOIN THEM.
You can't beat the system. Make a Brute, IO him up and be done with it. Although I do love this game for its customization, changes take years to implement. In 3 years when Tankers are finally buffed adequately, remake one, jump on Freedom, buy an xp booster, and drop some bones on a farm. Or just resurrect your current tankers. -
Quote:So?
You act like your logic is somehow above a group of people that manage to keep a financially stable game running. If you think that highly of your logic, then go prove them to be inferior.
Yeah implementing a 20 hour restriction so they can tempt people to go to their online store and buy this alignment token is very economically logical.
Silly me, advocating against a change which was implemented to take peoples money. -
Quote:Yeah the recent information I came across about the token makes it unlikely they will fix the 20 hour restriction since players who want quick alignment changes would be very tempted to just pay for it.They are introducing an alignment change token to the paragon market. It is definitely an option I will use.
Unfortunately, that means you will need to decide whether you are willing to pay for the option, or taking the long route and dealing with cool down periods.
Needless to say, they wont get rid of the cool down because they have found a way to make us pay for the convenience.
Now if it is because you love the missions so much that you just can't get enough of them, and want to run 40 of them in a row, you will still be sol.
Breathe man.
The 20 hour restriction is most likely for money reasons then. Whats funny is you have players in this thread defending a policy which was probably implemented to swindle them out of their money.
Ah the decline of reason........heralds the coming of a New Dark Age lol -
Quote:No, because that's not the issue.
Irrelevant.
Being able to casually change from hero to villain and back would be nonsensical. There has to be some limitation, or it's meaningless.
Its not irrelevant. Its the same thing. You wouldnt have fun if there was a 20 hour no xp restriction on a day you want to level your character , just as any player who wanted to change alignments wouldnt have fun cause there is a 20 hour restriction on alignment missions.
Claiming I am advocating there be "no limitations" is also a strawman. I am just stating that the current limitations suck. Having it take several hours like a long Task Force or something is limitation enough rather than having several "20 hour delays" which ruins the fun of walking the path to a different alignment. -
Yet you aren't going to prove the reasoning in opposition to mine. You'll just keep playing broken record while hindering the general fun and game play for all the players by advocating against sensible change on the suggestion forums.
Explain to me how a 20 hour forced brake in between attaining a goal in a video game is fun for a player ? Would you think it would be fun if there was a 20 hour no xp window on your character on a day you wanted to level him? -
Don't post in the suggestion forum then buddy. After all , if you have a problem you can design your own game. If you make a single....a single complaint after you posted this to me then you have proven to be a hypocrite.
-
Cool, next time don't be so parochial or try to play devils advocate trying to defend a hopeless position. As I said, putting a 20 hour brake on a character and forcing a player to spend days or weeks having to wait for alignment changes because of inability to run missions pertaining to that goal is completely and utterly irrational.
-
Quote:The logic does not exist because if it were so the game would make you spend 20 hours deciding on whether to be a hero or villain at the start. Its.....such ... a monumental decision....right ?Rusty Hearts gives you around a day's worth of gameplay before you stop earning experience, after which point you need to wait 48 hours before you can start earning experience again. The only reason Microsoft haven't done that is they're not based in Korea.
You insist there is no logic, but there is. Switching alignment not something to be taken lightly, and the developers don't want to devalue the dramatic impact of it. That's the logic. You can refuse it, but you can't claim it doesn't exist.
I can imagine Knights of the Old Republic..... hmm should I go dark side and slaughter the sand people...or go light side and try to negotiate a settlement.... hmmm need 20 hours to ponder. Game deactivates for 20 hours.... So much at stake... -
Quote:Read above. The silliness and irrationality of a "20 hour delay restriction" stands so far against reason that nothing can justify it. Thats like xbox putting a 20 hour restriction on Horde mode on Gears of War because they are worried about players leveling up too fast. The existence of farming doesn't delegitimize attempts by the developers to reduce it. It can't be stopped entirely, but it can be minimized.
Make the missions uneconomical to be farmed. There is your solution. -
Forcing people to slam on the brakes makes no sense. There is nothing to justify not finding a better alternative..and I mean absolutely nothing.
-
Quote:People farm anyway. It is not a legitimate excuse. Even so, there are other alternatives than forcing people to slam on the brakes. Its there because of the Hero/Villain Merit and without the cool down people would farm them to death and flood the market with LotG Recharges or similar.
However they are adding an Instant Alignment Change token. Which may solve your problem.
The introduction of a token while welcomed does not solve the issue of the game content being all jacked up. -
I was having hella fun doing the alignment tips missions , anticipating going over to the Rogue Islands, fighting in the Patron Arc..getting Soul Mastery......then whaaaaam the Game hit the brakes. No more fun for me. I have to wait 20 hours till next mission.
This probably has been posted before but seriously this makes no sense in my opinion. I hit 50 tonight with my new awesome DM/EA Brute and intended to change alignments so I can get Soul Mastery. I figured it would take 3-6 hours to change alignment, go to the Rogue Isles, run Ghost Widows Patron Arc and obtain Soul Mastery. Boy was I wrong. After spending a hour of fantastic fun doing these new alignment missions, the game ruined my fun and told me to stop.
So let me get this straight? I am 50 now. I have a fully IOed build, no limitations. Yet I have to wait 6 days or so before I can become a villain and get Soul Mastery and return to Blue Side simply because the game only allows 5 alignment missions a day ? What about people who only play on the weekend or cram long play sessions a couple of days a month ? What spectacular fun.
I really do not see the logic in this at all. It takes more time to do an anlignment change than it does to get to 50, not because there are so many things you have to do but because you are forced to only do 5 missions in a 20 hour period.
Have it take 20 missions or something.... anything is better that completing 5 missions and then the game telling you " slow down chief...... wait until tomorrow !!!" Thats like Gears of War limiting the amount of Horde matches I can do in a day. Or Halo limiting the amount of Firefight matches I can do. Can you imagine the xbox saying:
"Sorry player.. you reached the maximum Firefight matches allowed in a 20 hour period. You must wait 20 hours before you can play Firefight again"
What fun that would be
There is no logical reason for the 20 hour cool down peroid to exist and as such it should be removed. A player should look forward to the adventure of an alignment change rather than telling himself"
"" hmmm I can only do 5 missions today...then wait 20 hours....then do another 5 mission... hmmmm guess by next Tuesday I can be a villain"..... "oh wait I have work or school next Tuesday"..... I guess I can be a villain next month" ... How ....fun ......and adventureous""
Having a 20 hour cool down period when players are enjoing the game and relaxing in the moment is poor design and folly. It should be fixed accordingly please. -
Quote:Not talking about them. Talking about Valdoreisususussss from Dungeons and Dragons
Mike Hunt rulez btw -
And the winners are
In 5th place.... Seymour Butts (Armored Character)
In 4th place ... Tits McGhee (Armored Character)
In 3rd Place..... I.P. Freely ( Armored Character)
in 2nd place ....Pat McRotch (Armored Character)
in 1st place .... Mike Hunt ( Armored Character )
Noticing a pattern here. Hmm no one wearing tights like...you ..know.. a super hero.
lol fairy tale loving kids migrating from WOW -
Quote:?Good news! Your assumption is completely incorrect, therefore, you don't need to worry about the rest of your point! I just saved you a bunch of time fretting about something that isn't a problem! Maybe now you can stop being unhappy about a three year old change!
Maybe you should change your name to P.O.W.O.P for Pissing on the Wheels of Progress. or maybe I am just misunderstanding you.
Energy Melee is far from ok. In my opinion it can use more AOE or ET should be changed back. The set currently has no reason to exist except concept since there are better options. Buff Whilring hands to be like Foot Stoop with a high chance to stun and a large radius or make TF or ET an AOE or just change ET back. Either change would make the set more viable. -
Quote:I call nonsense. I have been playing on Freedom religiously for the last month and I team with 4 times as many Brutes and Scrappers than I do Tanks. Farming/Zones/TFs all content.Contrary to this posters constant fear mongering for some sudden extinction of tankers, I see no shortage of Tankers on both Freedom and Virtue server where I run 2-4 Incarnate Trials per night.
I easily see as many Tankers as I do Scrappers and Brutes.
The player base has caught on. IOs make it more logical to make a Brute. Tanks can use a buff. Brusing isn't good enough. Maybe making all attacks have a brusing effect would work. -
Quote:I do not agree with that. Just because it does not exist technically does not mean there should not be a word for it. The same could be said of an Unstoppable Force but is any force truely unstoppable? Mostly the word Juggenaut is used as an exaggeration. Its often used to describe military forces who achieve a series of successes. For example, several history books refer to the Japanese armed forces as the Japanese Juggernaut during their series of early victorys in World War Two (December 1941 -May 1942). Yet they were nevertheless stopped.Nothing as a >noun< comes to mind...
And there really exists nothing in this universe that IS invincible/indestructible.
Not even Black Holes. They evaporate over time. Time is the solvent for all things...
And even TIME is not invincible, for it is malliable by gravity.
Not even the Universe itself is infinite in it's ability to endure. It too shall end, whether in a Big Crunch, or a Long Dark Teatime of the Soul type thing.
Therefore, no word can exist for a non-existent thing. QED as it were.
The point is the word for indestructible/immovable object can exist as a NOUN cause there are already adjectives that exist to explain it anyway. So by your logic since nothing it truely indestructible, invincible, or immovable we should remove the words indestructible, invincible and immovable from the English language. -
Yeah I seek a single noun to describe a indestructible/invincible/ immovable object or thing but it suprisingly seems the English language is missing such a word.
Words like Castle and Mountain come to mind but it doesnt directly have the same meaning
lol maybe someone can recommend their Tankers/Brute name to the English group of scholars or whoever makes new words for the creation of this new word. -
We all know the word for an Unstoppable Force is Juggernaut. Is there a word for an Indestructible/Invincible object?
I have been trying to find a word for it in English but havent discovered one. I only ask cause a term describing a indestructible object might help me conceptually.
Thanks : ) -
Quote:Cool, did he say anything about it yet? If he says anything about it please let us know.Yeah, I sent a PM to Arbiter Hawk before even finding this thread today.
It doesn't seem right that Scrapper Burn does the LEAST damage of any other version. I know it is a pet, but it seems there should be some way to flag it as the scrapper version.
What about increasing the target cap and making it do even more damage up front?
I doubt that they can flag it to have the AI work differently without major headaches.
It just seems unfair that Scrapper's Burn is the only version that doesn't have tools to cause it to deal all of the damage. -
Brutes just feel stronger to me, mainly cause of Super Strength. Feels weak to be Scrapper karate chopping and slashing people with a Katana. Do not care what numbers say really, to me my SS Brute does more damage. Only Scrap Primary I really like is Fire Melee.
There was really one thing that attracted me to a Fire/Fire Aura Scrapper in mids....... Shadow Meld. Since Brutes do not get that I will just stick with my old school SS/Invul. I will role another scrap though if they do manage to change Burn. Having a Fire/Fire/Soul Scrap with Burn working just seems sick.
