  1. This is a great guide...I was nonplussed by all the Ouroboros badges at first (much as I was with the Crafting badges...) but I rolled up the sleeves and dove right into it.

    Into the 30-34 band currently, using the Croatoa arc by Kelly Nemmers for this. Since I now have Mass Confusion to go with the rest of my powers, things aren't quite as obnoxious for me...plus I get some Arcane salvage too, woo!

    Thanks again, I'll make sure to say hi if ever I am on Freedom.

    Edit: Kronos Titan in the timed mission is an Elite Boss if I remember. Was able to drop it with 3 people once.

  3. We didn't pull Recluse to the ship. What we did was have the Stone Tanker hold Recluse off to one side while we worked the Red then Blue towers. Don't think you can pull Recluse to the ship anymore unfortunately.

    We pulled the patrons apart first...we got Ghost Widow/Scirocco on the first pull then dealt with Black Scorpion and Mako.

    Not too sure about your sleep strat but they aggro pretty damned quickly and you want to be careful with those pulls.

    The actual biggest pain is the Arachnos Flier unloading missiles and such on you.

    Assault Rifle / Devices Blaster
    Katana / Super Reflexes Scrapper
    Illusion / Rad Controller
    Emp/Rad Defender
    Kin/Energy Defender
    Stone / Stone Tanker
    Mind / Rad Controller
    Mind / Force Field Controller <--- Me

    Come within a hair of completing with lineups with various Blasters and such. You just need to be on the same page and have some builds.
  5. I don't mind the epic badges so much, to each their own.

    The 10,000,000 damage for Born in Battle is very irritating, however. It was a pain getting that before level 30 on my pvp villains...so I sincerely hope the Developers don't foist such a requirement on any other accolades in the future.

    According to ParagonWiki, rent is now based on plot size, not an assessment of the items in the base. So I expect that a lot of smaller SGs will do what I'm planning on doing and build a base heavy on resources but still sitting on the smallest plot size -- which doesn't incur any rent.

    Just pointing that out. Those of you who have smaller SGs like mine are definitely advised to do what you can on the default plot rather than upgrading. Larger plots are going to get you into trouble unless you have a lot of very active members who don't mind running in SG mode a LOT, as Shayrd said.

    Yeah, a few issues ago, if you had a 3mil value base and 5 million unspent, your total net worth was 8 million so you were paying prestige based on being a 8million value base. Every month. Now, they've changed it so only the vaule of plot matters to rent.

    The way they are doing it now is still making the big SGs richer and the smaller SGs are going to fall because who wants to be a member of a SG with ONE teleporter, when they can be a member of an SG with a teleporter to every zone?

    Because it's not the teleporters and doohickys it's the company! I'm in some sgs with small bases with virtually nothing but we have FUN and enjoy the game. My own supergroun on Champion, Drreameam...got to a base big enough for all the teleporters and storage with FOUR active people over two and a half years. I LOVE it because we didn't blind invite people and pad (outside of this grant) so it's the result of us four.

    Bases are just window dressing for the game anyway, seeing as their 'intended purpose' is never going to happen.

    I just wanted add that the Lethal Ladies coalition on Pinnacle already had 4 branches plus a villain branch, bases with all the teleporters and an active network...but suddenly because we've padded to 150 (an addition of perhaps 30-40 alts in some cases) we're doooooooomed?

    Likewise, my sg on Champion has 4-5 active people at anytime but we padded the heck out of that baby to get more prestige and increase base size.

    Except you can just wait until rent is past due and shave a part of the next rent that way...and you CAN just turn influence into prestige at the drop of a hat. With the ease with which influence is gained, even the onerous exchange rate is manageable.

    And how is it an exploit when Lighthouse himself said we could pad with alts or have new people join our supergroup?

    Just my own opinion but Ice/Rad is slows, slows and more slows with a throwing in of some heft debuffs to defense and resistance.

    I'm just levelling one now but there are sooo many ways you can go with your build that it's crazy!

    Ice/Rad is definitely more of a 'mitigation' combination than say...the mob-stomping Fire/Kin or Ill/Rad for example.

    Worst-case scenario:

    Hero X has their features on the web, including global. People make web searches to find that player's rl names and such. From there, more searches yield more personal info.

    As a matter of fact I recall some threads here about dev info (including phone numbers (!!!) ) which make my point abundantly.




    From a PvP perspective though, I certainly would not want people's builds unless they were from our own SG or volunteered...more information means an edge...

    Yes, THIS is something I can behind.

    Enhancement stats? No.
    Friends list? No.

    I'll keep these options turned off for a majority of my heroes, especially those I use for pvp.

    Other, goofy characters, options (except for Friends) will be turned on.

    Under Game Info:

    NOTHING about PvP. No mention of Arenas, hero vs. villain, the pvp zones.

    How about doing a fraps of some of the ladder matches, or some stuff going on in zone and doing a voiceover. Have Positron explain PvP to newcomers, including a blow by blow of the pvp zones and the Arena. Conclude with a good 3-4 minutes of fast-paced pvp footage.

    New person gets told by their friend about the game, goes to cityofheroes.com, sees game documentation and nothing about pvp? Has no idea PvP even exists in the game...

    Regarding what RoboBug said, no, I doubt #3 would make cages obsolete, but I see the argument in favor of #3 as strangely parallel to the sarcastic argument presented above.

    Actually, the (bizarrely working) only afffecting self timer provides immunity to death right after you die. People here are only asking for 10-15 seconds of cage suppression, OAS goes all they way up to 20 seconds at times.

    You can still hit follow on someone and place effects on them can't you? I can recall being affected in practices before that 20 second window.
  18. I'd prefer 3, and this is coming from someone with a cager.

    The big problem with cages is that unless the cagers are taking themselves out of the match (and they likely aren't) then you're running an 8 vs. 6 or an 8 vs. 7 instead of an 8 vs. 8.

    The game is already pretty crazy with the amount of damage that flies around and the buffing and so on. Where things get a little dicey is where you can get multiple cages on one character (I think Grav/FF can do this, Dark (lol dark) can probably do it as well).

    I'm going to stop beating around the bush for once:

    i)We're going to have a lot of new people PvPing on test in January. If a bunch of them end up in a bubble for 10-15 minutes, they'll get pissed off and just go back to zones or complain about how stupid cages are.

    Does this need to be a HUGE concern or a concern at all? Probably not given the # of people on each team then.

    ii)I'm not a fan of limiting stuff despite how absurd stacking is as far as debuffs and such are concerned. I'd prefer a "suppression" timer if a change HAD to be made. Or the kitty's idea about orange insps countering cage.

    I'd just hate this to become...ok cages are annoying...aah but Neuronia storms are annoying too! So is X...what then?

    Worse comes to worse just limit the # of cagers per team if it's that much of an issue (which I don't think it is personally).

    PvP's gotta evolve somehow, I love the PvP and I love the people who PvP but I've got a feeling that when the servers go down we'll be seeing the same kind of lineups.

  19. Just as an outsider here...who has duelled, won some lost some. I don't really see the point of a duel ladder.

    You're either going to win most of the matches because of insane debuffs or burst damage or you're going to end up with a draw. Not really any balanced play. There is just too much disparity in performance between various ATs and powersets and such.

    So, while I am very interested in various forms of team play, I have no interest in duelling and neither would most of my friends who are also interested in team play (friends outside of my current pvp sg).

    Thanks for your efforts though.

    So hot. I love the story arcs in this game, love the progression and clues...granted not every clue is Seer Marino level, but most of the stuff is top-notch.

  21. Make the observer bots quicker and give them +perception. Had a friend watch us the other day and she couldn't keep up with the fast pace.

    Set up a system where supergroups have rosters input on test and a SG vs. SG could be set up with scratches, etc. for ladder matches.

    Ladder standings on arena terminals.
  22. Selectable arena maps.

    Ability to autolevel to 50 or so on test.

    Toggle for pve/pvp builds

    Various viewing displays at terminals, may be complex but the ability to see a player's tray, powers and so on when used.

    Reexamination of unresisteds and such, adjustments made over time to powers (increased animation times, endurance costs etc).

    i)Will we have a game to play over the next year or so?

    ii)Does this move signal faster release of issues?

    iii)Will there be a new 'Statesman'?

    iv)Will City of Villains see new content added to it?

    v)Will sub fees increase?
