I've reported each incident via petition, including sending account and text of message. It happens with regularity beginning each night approximately 10 PM PST, and the spams will be coming in at least two cases from accounts reported up to two days prior via petition. The website referenced is always the same site in 90% of the instances. Please send a private message if you need the ticket references from the filed petitions.
And thanks for attacking this parisitism. -
Can't wait for the day to end so I can try it out... I10 is wonderful so far, even with the lag, for me! Thanks, Ex Libris!

Love the idea, love having something to look forward to, love that villains and heroes have a cooperative (as opposed to competitive) zone in which to play coming up!

I voted for the Shield sets, Growth, and Psionic Weaponry.
Because they are *different* from existing sets in the game. Hammer, Balls and Chain, etc. just seem a lot like Axes and Swords in terms of how actually new they would feel.
I could be completely wrong, as I don't have the internal discussion going on in my head, but Growth in particular sounds like it would have a completely new, er, dimension to it in play!
And Shield would go very well with Battle Axe and Broadsword I think! -

X1 - Adapt. Figure out the strengths and style of your teammates and adapt your playstyle to fit there's. Some teams rush in for an alpha strike - others pull. Some lead with blaster AOEs - others lead with tanks and controllers. Some groups need to knock around foes to be most effective (energy torrent, repel, etc.) and others want mobs in tight groups for maximum effect (fire tankers, spines scrappers, AOE blasters). Figure it out fast and adapt your style to the style of the group at large. Working at odds to the team strategy is stupid.

You win the thread. I bet you win a lot of fights in the game, too. -
I think I would expect the difference in level of the attacker and defender to be taken into account, as well as any bonuses.
In other words, I'd expect a level 50 to never miss when fighting a level 1, or only ever miss at the fumble rate, which I think is 5%. And a level 1 to always miss when targeting a level 50.
Of course, this would really screw up any--eventual-- plans to increase the level cap incrementally... as the 2% per level would be difficult with, say, a level cap of 60
(Heh... I'd also like to receive at least 1 prestige point per mob, irregardless of level difference. Stopping to rescue a citizen from a mugger or a purse snatcher on your way through Atlas Park to Recluse's Victory should still count towards the "heroic reputation" prestige ostensibly represents!) -
Wonderful piece, CuppaKenja! THIS is a sterling example of what I come to the boards hoping to find! Thank you!

One more thing... clicking the "Invite" button in the Battle Terminal setup window *does not work* for me, yielding an "CHAR NAME ## is not online" style error. Typing "/arenainvite CHAR NAME" into the main chat window does work, however, and allows me to proceed.
Yes, that was my sticking point for a good long time, until it occurred to me to look up how to invite manually (like "/invite CHAR NAME", "/sginvite CHAR NAME", etc.)
After that, I was able to successfully start matches... -
The little "?" button at the lower right of the Battle Terminal bring up an instructional manual which has tabs just like the badge window... scroll ALL the way over on the right, and you will find an Arena tab; with futher subsections down the left--it's not the *most* helpful guide, but it is more help than clicking the loquacious-but-empty contacts in the Rikti Monkey Fight Club in Pocket D.

I'm appreciative of your web resource as well, Mr. Tomax. Not only is it packed with useful information, but you have chosen to use browser-neutral coding in building your site...
Vidiotmaps is useless to me as a practical resource because their scripting is all Internet Explorer-specific and the maps won't work at all... the monitor on my desk on which I display task force data, story arc data, power data while playing the game is attached to a Mac Mini running Safari! -
Online games can and have lasted forever to this date... Gemstone Online (http://www.play.net/gs4/new.asp) is *still* going strong, and receives regular attention and updates, and that's into multiple decades.
I have no interest in playing in Marvel's established universe (or DC's for that matter). I *do* like playing in the *original* setting devised for City of Heroes and City of Villains, without all of the cruft associated with the established publisher's franchises (or a lifetime aware of the shenanigans said publishers get up to).
I can see keeping my CoH accounts live for a very long time, I'm having a great deal of fun at the moment... but I won't be signing up for another publisher's branded universe, particularly Marvel's.
I don't need to condemn those who do have an interest in doing so, but count me not among them. -
I do this, especially with low-level characters who don't yet take debt, with a slight variation. In the SG base, we placed an Inspiration Rack next to the Resurrection Altar, next to the telepads. I load up the Inspiration Dispenser with 100 useful inspirations, then start loading up and rezzing in base, using the base portal to return to the zone, or the telepad if the zoning point is closer to the mish.
Over and over again. One alt used it this morning at 7 to beat up the requisite 10 Circle Mages in Perez Park. Another used it at 41 to take down Fake Nemesis on the Peregine Docks last night for the Unveiler badge, until he could complete the prerequisites for the Freedom Phalanx accolade... (really wanted that!). -
Aw, you just took your guide to PUGs and put it out under a different cover... LRSF fad chaser!!!!
(Kidding, giggled helplessly reading it--so true) -
Probably posted already, but I have a problem with the mantle not matching the back of the cap by a separation of a couple of inches after zoning, particularly into Atlas Park.
The fix is to change costumes, then change back after zoning if this occurs. After changing the costume, the seam will rejoin and stay there until after some random zone again.
Certainly not fatal to my enjoyment of the game!
