element 2: always assume all items will always be available for immediate cheap amount which is only true of ingame garbage drops

element 3: only focus on buying detriment as equated to inf and ignore buying benefit of time not spent waiting for a bid to fill

element 4: always ignore benefit of seller who is not flipping

element 5: use real life examples that relate in no way to a game while ignoring all long existing game examples like Monopoly

element 6: ignore all ingame causes of excessive inf generation that would raise prices of only useful items yet never impact ingame garbage drops

element 7: assume all opposing arguments are only made by flippers trying to protect their turf

element 8: ignore bidder's ability to leave a bid or listing up and beat the flippers or to put it another way ignore impatience of complainers effect on prices in the market

element 9: ignore all ingame avenues to beat flippers like merits and tickets

element 10 (optional): cut and paste quoting to "prove" point

Result: move to ignore file once they are no longer entertaining in their nonsense

Plus it's always entertaining when factual observations are prohibited & punished while the behavior that inspires them is totally ignored, to the detriment of the forum.

    AE XP Suggestion

    Great suggestion mechanically and thematically.

Another option would be to remove Influence rewards from the AE entirely. It would be perfectly reasonable since the AE missions are not real and thus shouldn't affect a character's fame or finances in any real way. Tickets more than make up for the loss of actual Inf rewards, and reducing the amount of Inf you get in the AE would reduce farming considerably, I believe, while still keeping the marketing promise of AE as an alternative way to level to 50.
I'm on board with no inf, but it needs to be replaced with some other reward mechanic. If MA doesn't deliver comparable rewards to 'real' gameplay it will be completely ignored by everyone but a handful of RPers and story junkies. "You don't get inf for MA" would discourage the participation of our friend the mythical 'casual gamer', who is generally as rewards-seeking as anyone else but just goes about it in a less efficient way. "You don't get inf, but you do get this other cool thing instead" would ameliorate the problem without discouraging participation.

nothing in this game is 'necessary'.

does it save buyers time by ensuring a ready supply at market rates?
    yes, it absolutely does.

Time being the only real currency in the game makes that a valuable service.

what would you say to an entire SG dedicated to setting the world's supply of inf on fire?

flippers add value by ensuring what you want is there when you want it- temporal value, if you will. If you *want* to tie up a slot and wait a while to get a 'deal', that option is there. If your slots and time are worth more to you than a negligible inf savings, the flipper is there to ensure you can get your widget NAO at market rates.

In a game environment where time is the only 'currency' with real value, that's an important service.
  8. My guide would be

    1: Play the Game
2: Sell your Junk on the Market

Ditto. Xmas time is eating up all my discretionary income just now (well, I will be able to scrape up enough for some discount boosters, but that's about it...)

If they rolled this out in January I'd be all over it.

They're recirculating junk that would otherwise have disappeared, and they deal in volume. Not only are they personally increasing listings, they're inspiring others to list as well- the better the return people can get on their junk, the more motivated they are to sell it.

When I was messing around with Ancient Bones a few years back supply/bids went from, roughly, 0-100 listings and 0-20 bids to 2-3k listings and 500-1k bids. Once I stopped 'working' the niche it quickly returned to its former state.

Why is selling for a more stable price of any value to the seller?
People know they can get 100k or so for an Alchemical Silver.
This encourages them to seek out and list Alchemical Silvers.

Meanwhile if someone checked Circuit Boards at the wrong time they'd figure it was junk salvage and start deleting them.

A stable, worthwhile price point gets the word out to sellers that yes, Widget X is worth selling.

    I've never noticed any difference.

As someone who vividly remembers the burning annoyance of getting WEAKER as I leveled thanks to gradually expiring enhancements (because back in the day inf was too dear to blow on a whole new set just for combining) I leapt into generic IOs and never looked back.

Memorization isn't free, but it can be very profitable if you list your excess enhancements on the market.
