    SBP V: Mutant

I started out ambivalent about the mutie pack but picked it up after fiddling around with it on test.

And of course now that I've got it I found more applications than I expected to.

The various bits and pieces are quite a bit more flexible than I initially gave them credit for. I do wish we'd gotten some new monsterous feet & hands and some claws, but aside from some genuinely horrible joins for the heads and tails it's a great pack.

I'll be re-listing all my 'extreme' overpriced junk for as much or more.

There's going to be absolute anarchy. People who haven't been paying close attention to the pre-merger market will have NO IDEA what things are "worth".

Also I expect the sudden disappearance of factional barriers to generate an unprecedented buying spree by ultra rich villains who can FINALLY buy stuff NAO.
  3. if you were in the mood you could edit it down a bit and make a guide out of it- How to Make A Billion in a Week with Limited Playtime or something.
  4. great thread Fury, one more thing for us to link when people whine that they can never afford anything because it's impossible to make inf.

Also an interesting juxtaposition to that one thread where someone (topdoc?) went 0-2 billion in a month after me n' Uber pondered the feasibility of the act. Did he do it with pure marketeering? I forget. =/

Anyway, GRATZ to Ghoulslayer on the big win and GRATZ to Fury for providing a weeks worth of entertainment to this jaded marketeer!
  5. massive influx of new & returning players + history wipe = MADNESS.

every marketeer for themselves, dogs and cats living together....TOTAL ANARCHY!

    those joins are criminal.

the goat is looking sexy with a few new additions, not, unfortunately, including new hooves.

As the only comprehensive reform possible it was always an inevitability, assuming they did anything at all about the discrepancies.

That isn't going to stop those of us who saw it early and took every opportunity to keep it in the public eye in the face of endless naysaying from devs and others from taking a well deserved victory lap.

So this merger was the most obvious conclusion.
So YIPPY you won? That made me laugh. "Another hard fought win"! That's just embarrassing if you think that you made this happen.
1: given categorical dev statements (see my sig for an example) that merging was not an option we can be forgiven for not "seeing it coming".

2: Geko and a couple of us other regs have been battling the stupidity of segregated markets in the face of backward devs and uninformed players for as long as there has been a market. We have absolutely had an impact on the debate, as merging went from a fringe belief promoted by a handful of lunatics to a widely accepted solution to Black Market problems.

and free market tip, everybody on earth is buying up pet sets. my heroes have already stocked away all the IOs my masterminds will ever need, and I know I'm not alone.

I mean, you'll still make inf- the release of GR is going to see a market tsunami the likes of which we've never experienced. But there are many, many other areas that will be more profitable for a longer period after the transition.

    Call it

As noted by others, literally *every* new issue triggers a psychotic interlude on the market. The merger should have an immediate and salutary effect on redside supply, but aside from that we won't know what's "really happening" for a while.

Myself, I'm making a bet on a giant swarm of new kinetic melee characters pouring into the game and frenzy-buying all the melee set IOs I've been stuffing into base storage over the past month.

Although I expect GR to trigger a purchasing apocalypse- it should be literally impossible not to make a fat stack no matter what niche you decide to work. Most issues generate major spikes just from our old friend 'the retuning player'. Along with those reliable returnees, GR should attract a meaningful number of new players.

And that will make for very interesting times....
  13. upgraded mine to a Logitech G500 a while back and it's aces.

On the fly sensitivity adjustment is great for when I'm playing FPS's and it has the nicest mousewheel I've ever used. You can toggle between click scrolling (nice for gaming) and frictonless scrolling (nice for websurfing and document editing).

The only thing I don't like is the thumb buttons are further back than my old mx500, which was perfect for my big paws.

Other than that, it's a five star product. Been using it about a year now and it's fantastic.

Making low shots in the dark that may never hit their mark and waiting weeks on end to get lucky doesn't appeal to me.
Thinking a little bit about what to bid is faster and more efficient than taking shots in the dark and then watching them with puppy eyes for 'weeks on end' instead of revising them when it's obvious you were off the mark.

The former means only crafting something once in order to have the enhancement I want. It's direct, simple, and already entails more time spent dealing with the Market and Crafting than I'd like. If IOs - both basic and sets - weren't so much more desirable to me than the standard enhancements I might not touch the Market or Crafting at all.
making a pile of inf so huge that the price of stuff effectively doesn't matter is much easier than kitting out a character by waiting around for stuff you want to drop.

Fury has made nearly 500 million inf in a few days using tactics available to anyone. I make 100 million every time I step into the MA building. All from taking a few minutes to craft drops. However little you enjoy the process it's clearly the most efficient way to get what you want.

    *shrug*

    Seeding?

yah there's no need to seed when they can just change drop rates for the stuff they aren't happy with.
  17. I HATE KNIVES!!1111

died twice after wiping out spawns thanks to epic stacks of caltrops.

I'll try it again tonight after I dial down the spawn size. =P

I mean, you're free to hold any crazy, wild eyed opinion you want, I'm not going to stop you.

But when that nutty opinion touches on a subject I know inside out, I'll call you on it.
  19. True enough!

In the spirit of reconciliation I'll play the arc in your sig tonight after work.

    =D
  20. An addenda, I play all sorts of MA arcs, just as I engage in all sorts of different 'real' gameplay. I have fun on farm maps, I have fun playing Dev's Choice & HOF arcs.

The problem isn't that there are lots of "crummy" farm maps clogging up MA, or that there are lots of "crummy" story arcs clogging up MA, the problem is it's much, much easier for me to find a good farm arc than it is to find a good story arc.

Interface improvements could go a long ways toward rectifying that situation.

That's not a user problem, that's an interface problem.

Players are gonna do what they do regardless of what we post on the forums. Why else would all the various schemes and plans exposed here over the years STILL WORK?

The solution is improving MA's search functionality, not complaining about what people post on the forums.

I was traipsing through Atlas last night and people were spamming broadcast for "ugly man" teams and "punching bag" farms.
I have no idea what these things are, but I am positive that my mentioning them here does the game no great harm.

I found the map I use via the crafty tactic of pulling up the search tab and typing in

    ticket farm

and on a similar map my ar/dev runs at +0/x8 and can cap it in ~30 minutes.
