Well I still stand by my conclusion about damage per cast cycle but if that's not the reason my map is harder then it must either be perception or the level difference. Either way both issues are addressed
-
Well I've solved any issues and uploaded a second version of my map. Identical to the first, this one set to level 1! Try it out and let me know if it's easier. 512178
*Edit!
I think I may have had an epiphany concerning why people report my mission being harder. I originally gave my enemy group high damage long recharge attacks thinking I would reduce their damage/cast cycle. While it's true that I had accomplished that, I never took into account the fact that the sheer number of enemies surrounding and attacking at all times made that calculation completely irrelevant. You're still having to dice-roll on 16 sweeping strikes, and every time you kill an enemy and a new one aggros you it basically resets that timer. I've gone ahead and went back to using extremely low damage attacks. THAT should solve every problem. -
There should be absolutely no difference in the tier of inspirations you get from one mission to the next. That's based entirely off the class of enemy you defeat. There also shouldn't be any real difference in kill speed from level 1 to level 3 as far as I know. The reason I keep it at level 3 is so that you can fit in Hasten and so players who don't get an AoE till level 8 can still use it. According to paragonwiki enemies have slightly more HP at level 1 than 3. Maybe that makes the difference. I'll play around with it and see what happens.

Quote:Yeah this is why. Fateweaver is right on the way to the AE building also. Only takes a few runs through the map to get high enough so that the mobs here don't really pose much threat either. I actually neglected to show/explain selling the two damage TOs at the store to get the starting money for the auction fee but I figure that's a really minor point and since I'm uploading the new version of the video now...a little late.Shark is the easiest/shortest trip from the BM to the AE.
Straight line less than 500 yards. Easy to avoid the mobs.
You can take the Black Helicopter from Mercy North right behind Kalinda to Shark and it is less than 700 yards to the BM. Shorter run than dragging butt cross Mercy I think.
Edit* And the new video is up. New music added. Felt like The Final Countdown would get my video deleted so I got rid of it. -
Hi everyone!
I've uploaded a completely new video that is a FULL tutorial showing everything you need to do from the second you leave the tutorial to crafting grenades, what powers to take, what maps to use, etc. I have my new and improved map on showcase as well. I think it's pretty comprehensive and I put hours of work into it. This is by far the most complete explanation and showcase on how to run one of these lowbie maps. Watch it and let me know what you think!

Being able to take tough at level 4 is going to be a great way for res based melee characters like invul to shine even more in the early game.

Without a NAT hardware firewall, none of these matter much. Make sure you have a router. -
I think I'll be running a BS/Fire brute. Sounds like tons-o-fun.

Personally I wouldn't touch a sub $100 PSU that claims to have 7-800w with a ten foot insulated pole. I know it sounds dull but a good PSU is one of the most important things to consider in a new PC build. It's pretty much the workhorse of your PC and it not only has to be of superior build quality, it needs to be efficient and it has to have lots of amperage on the rails to power all of your hungry hardware. The last thing you want is a faulty PSU to blow up on you and take out 3 or 4 other expensive components with it.
The good thing about a high quality PSU is that you can go "low" with the watt rating and still be totally fine.
I think this is exactly what you're looking for. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...air%20hx%20650

Well i think elec is probably a lot touger and has much better end management. You can have capped energy res and really high s/l res with tough. The extra recharge will help also.
And as you said /fa has way WAY more damage, capped fire res and high s/l res with tough. You still have some end management with consume and a good self-heal. They are pretty similar sets. Just different focuses. High protection from elec with amazing endurance or high fire protection with amazing damage.
Since you've already played fire on a tank I'd suggest going for /elec. -
LOL! I had forgotten to remove the sound or lower the volume when I was making the video. Figured if people don't like it then they could just turn down their speakers haha. Sorry for freaking you out.
-
I've updated my map title and all of the text to make the map much more clear and provide easy instructions for new players.
-
Maybe it has something to do with the map. That's really all I can think of. But I don't know why or what the map could be changing.
-
Soulbound Allegiance is the purple pet set. Probably has the most stupid and most useless set bonuses of any enhancement set in the game considering the AT it's on. Great for enhancement value though. I agree with cheetatron's advice.
When I was making a defense focused /dark MM I used Blood Mandate for the aoe/ranged defense bonuses. Mixing in damage and the -res procs where I could. -
Quote:I've decided to upload a video I made a while back that will show you everything you need to know to run one of these maps.Amy - how are you abe to carry so many inspirations? And where do you refill on inspirations close enough to the AE building that they dont run out on you?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi5t9g50bYM
The only thing I didn't do in this video was show the hand grenade temp power. Get that at the market for nothing and use it. Makes this even faster. Keep in mind that this is with bosses on. -
Quote:This has been my experience with Bots as well. While there are ways to mitigate the massive and immediate KB that sends enemies out of the Burn patch, it always just infuriates me to no end to know that the devs actually designed this on purpose.Bot/FF/Mace.... You'll be unkillable. Your damage will be crap. But you'll be unkillable.
I've got a 50 bot/ff/mace and I honestly don't get the claims that bot has so much damage. Yeah the Assault Bot missiles cause burn patches which do great damage. But all the pets have knockback so the enemies are IMMEDIATELY knocked out of the burn patches so.... Great damage potential, but actual damage, not so great.
That and they still haven't even acknowledged that they broke the burn missiles when they altered Burn on Brutes. -
yes you can re-do then as many times as you want.
BruteSquad, are you going in high on orange inspirations as well? I always went in with five or six of those running as well as to eliminate any chance of getting smoked by lucky strikes. -
Here's a DM/Elec build I threw together with no regard to budget. It puts you within a small purple inspiration of the defense cap on S/L/E/NE and an appreciable amount of defense to F/C and also has enough recharge for perma hasten. It can not only tank but dish it out pretty hard as well. Normally I'd not put Oblit in a damage aura but I think DM/Elec can get away with it. It's basically got unlimited endurance.
Now if you wanna push it over the edge of extreme survivability go for Barrier Destiny. I have Spirit on this build I'm posting but haven't added in any accolades or other ipowers. I'd go for Reactive Radial as always and judgement/lore is up to you.
Didn't even use any purples :P

I've looked over my custom characters and I can't figure out why they have such a high to-hit. I gave my dudes Sweeping Strike for two reasons. 1. It has no secondary effect. 2. It has a very long recharge.
I figured a longer recharging but higher damaging attack would make the enemies easier since you should have a 95% dodge rate at the defense cap. I figure an enemy attacking and missing every 12 seconds was better than every 3 seconds with Nimble Strike, which is the only other viable attack.
I think what may be happening is a few un-lucky streaks of getting nailed with Sweeping Strike. Are you sure they have a 50% to-hit even when you're defense capped? I haven't really been experiencing these problems. If it is a problem though I can always switch back to Fire Melee. EDIT* I just ran it myself and when running at the defense soft-cap from purples I was getting a 6.50% chance to hit from the Meteor Fist Sweeping Strike and 5.00% chance to hit from everything else. -
Quote:Hi! Welcome to the forums. First I'd like to point out (without sounding too stuck-up) that a new player should probably focus more on experiencing the content as it was designed, running missions arcs and enjoying the 1-50 game the way it was meant to be enjoyed. If you simply PL yourself to 50 you're missing out on the most fun parts of the game in my opinion.Completely new to the game again, 3 year break, how does one enter one of these premade mish's?
Have all of the xpacs as well just FYI.
Thnx
Ok now that that's out of the way, these missions can be found in the Architect Entertainent buildings located in most zones. Just look for the "AE" on your map. Once inside and on the second level you will see a row of computers lined up around the floor. Clicking on one will bring up the AE interface where you can browse, play and even create your own missions. The "Arc ID" numbers you see floating around this thread are identification numbers that the system assigns each mission or story arc that people create.
While this thread is devoted specifically to power-leveling there are many arcs that people make that tell original stories and are actually a lot of fun! Play some of the developer's choice missions and the hall of fame entries. There's a ton of great stuff in there. -
I don't know what could be causing that. I'll go over it and see if I can figure out why.

Quote:I think with the build I threw up there you'll be a farming machine. Just stick with Spiritual Alpha if all you're gonna do is farm. You might as well take Ageless for your Destiny slot. More recharge than you know what to do with is always a good thing.Well my whole idea for this brute was simply farming and nothing morelol I was just trying to make a toon to rip throu firemap after firemap that's about it I thnk you for the help andsuggestions
I would also like to point out that in my opinion, while the +recharge proc the previous poster mentioned is pretty great for SS farmers, it is definitely not worth taking Energy Mastery to get it. On a farming Brute you want Mu. With all the recharge buffs, spiritual, and ageless on the build I made you don't need the proc anyway. -
Yes. That combo provides a great burst damage attack but /fa provides constant high dot, an amazing aoe attack of it's own and fiery embrace adds tons of damage, moreso than aao, to everything you do. when farming you're at the damage cap fairly often. At that point aao does nothing for you, whereas FE will add even more proc damage on top of it all.
-
There is no competition. Nothing else even comes close.
-
Yes, ToD, sorry. Having looked at your build now I can see several problems. You have broken the rule of 5 for recharge bonuses and you've got some really odd slotting. Additionally, slotting for +dam on a brute is a bit of a waste of time. Whatever miniscule bonuses you can get from sets are really overshadowed by Fury and all of the red inspirations you'll be using. You had almost no recharge in Fiery Embrace, which is one of the pillars of /FA farming. Gonna need 3 rech in there. Assuming you get all the passive +HP accolades you'll be just over 2000HP.
I've altered your build without removing any of your selected powers but 1. I swapped out Summon Striker for Elec Fences. The AoE immob actually helps quite a bit to add AoE damage and you still get all those tasty set bonuses. I moved around the leadership powers to move Temp Protection up.
Other than that I vastly improved your slotting (putting the +end proc in stamina for example) which has afforded you not only better set bonuses but also better enhancement values in your powers. I'm not gonna change too much because I don't know what your preference is, but you have almost no ST damage. You're gonna find yourself struggling against tough single targets. If it were me I would at least switch out Fire Sword for Cremate and Breath of Fire for Incinerate. I'll leave that up to you to decide though.
On top of that, with T4 Spiritual Core Paragon you have perma-hasten! With this build you can be -quite- the good farming brute. Get the Cardiac Core also and use it for when you're not farming. You might not need it, but it does make you a lot studier for normal content and it will solve any endurance issues you might run into. Go for Reactive Radial Interface (The one with the higher damage proc NOT the -res proc) and whichever Destiny you want. Ageless would be pretty awesome for even -more- recharge, but if you feel you want to be tougher in normal content you can go for Barrier to give you the huge survivability boost.
