Glad they flagged the word "cracker" Wouldn't want anyone saturating an arc with that offensive word!!

Have you tried making the boss a non-required objective? That might do it. (I agree this is a bug, just thinking this might be a workaround.)

Ok that worked. Thanks again KeepDistance! -

Sounds like its worth a shot. Thanks KD. -
Ok, let me start by saying I am aware of the general hatred of defeat alls. However, the arc I'm writing makes better sense if no one is left behind to go warn his buddies. I also use small warehouse maps to reduce the tedium of the defeat all.
Anyway, the first mission works fine. Defeat the boss first or last, and the mission will only complete when all are defeated.
The second mission fails to be a defeat all. I've deleted it and rebuilt it numerous times I've taken special care to ensure I've set it as a Defeat all. I've even changed the order I set mission parameters such as: Set defeat all settings first, then set boss settings. -OR- Set boss setting first, then set defeat all settings.
It still completes the moment the boss is defeated. It uses the exact same map as the first mission, with all the same settings except it has a wall safe that needs to be clicked.
Anyone else have this problem? I sent it in as a bug. -

I tried to create my own Custom Outcasts, which could be higher then lvl 20. But a single mission, on a "Small" map took up 69% of my files space. I still have 3 more missions to create.
I've decided to abandon the arc I had planned. Non of the other factions fit what I had in mind.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you have a 4 mission arc planned, all using your custom Outcasts, you won't have to use 69x4=276% of your available space. If you tell the system, "Remember those Outcasts I made for Mission 1? Use them again in Mission 2," the system will reply, "Oh yeah, I'll just go back and access those same files again, I already know those guys."
The only thing you need your leftover 31% for will be mission briefings, objective placement, things like that.
There would be a problem if you tried to have different custom factions in every single mission .. but you're not trying to do that.
Finish that arc. You may have to keep your mission briefings, etc. short, but you can do it.

Woot! ok, looks like you all were right! I should be able to fit all 4 missions in the arc!
Thanks again for your quick replies! -

Alright. I'll give it a shot. Cuz yer right, I will be using all the same custom chars. With only the bosses being different from mission to mission. Thanks ICF_Zombra -

I would like the files size increased for MA arcs.
I have a story worked out which involves Outcasts. But I'm forced to lvl 20 max if I use the standard Outcast group. I don't want my missions to be limited by the lack of stamina, which happens if the difficulty is set higher then Level 1. (you get X'd down to 19 on higher settings)

However, aside from the very tiny file size limitation, MA is a very cool feature. IMHO.

A couple things. Map size has really no effect on the file size. The biggest thing that determines the space used is custom groups. Have you finished making all your custom characters? Because if you have, or you only have a couple more to add, you mostly likely have plenty of space for three more missions, unless you add lots and lots of dialog.
A single custom character takes up not quite 8%. Check out some of the guides on the forums for more detail. I see no reason you should abandon your arc. With a little planning it should be just fine.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have 4 types of custom Minions, and 4 types of custom Lts. One custom boss. I didnt think I had too much dialog, but perhaps I'll scale that back and see what happens. Thanks Lucianna -
[ QUOTE ]
I had to remove a 1/2 dozen customs to shoehorn my 3 mission arc into the file limit. (99.99% file size). It got down to stripping out words from clues and descriptions to make it work with the bare minimum. I filled some of the gaps with stock villians inplace of customs, but I made it fit. Its a bit of a pain sometimes, but there is a saying in engineering:
The product is complete not when there is nothing left to add, but rather when there is nothing left that can be removed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know what yer saying, but Stock Villains would cap the missons at level 20. And that's for single players, on Heroic. I can't say at what point more teammates, OR higher difficulty settings would force the players down to level 19, but I can say that Unyielding is too high a setting for a single player. This will force you to lvl 19 and take away stamina.
I suppose I could substitute CoT, cuz they have many similar powers. But somehow, I figure a Popup dialog box that says "Just pretend those CoT are actually Outcasts, mmmkay? Well.. maybe if you squint really, really hard..." just wont make the magic of immersion work. -

You can drag and drop the missions in the top panel to rearrange the order. This way you can put mission 4 at the front.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah! Good thinking! Thanks Kung_Ru -
So, lets say you have created an Arc, and its 5 missions long. You work hard on each mission, but you still manage to make some mistake. A trigger or event in say mission number 4 is wrong.
You go back to edit, and make a change, and its now time to test yer work. Is there a way to test just mission number 4, or do you have to run through the content of missions 1-3 first before you can see if mission 4 is working properly? -

Not to rain on anyones parade or take away from the excellent work Jay and his assistant put into this and all the other packs.
BUT...
Angry_Citizen and others do have a point.
Jay and his assistant are already on the NCSoft payroll, which is income generated from the normal monthly fees that are paid to play the game.
If NCSoft didn't want to put any new outfits into the game for customers or npc's then they would not have Jay on staff.
However, since they do have Jay on staff doing his normal work for which his salary is already being taken care of. And for which his time scheduling is already included. Taking him away from his normal time to produce micro transaction items (Not to mention Babs had to be involved for the emotes), and then charging extra for these items *is* what Angry_Citizen is talking about.
If microtransactions weren't now part of this game (thanks to everyone who keeps buying them { Myself Included }), then Jay and crew would be producing these same items for the game normally.
Would they be part of some set schedule? Surely they would. It isn't as if they are coming fast and furious as part of microtransactions after all.
So, Angry_Citizen does have a valid point in what his beliefs or feelings are regarding these mircotransactions.
NCSoft has found a way to generate more income for the company without extra expense.
Smart business decision on their part, but it does cost its playerbase. While the playerbase seems mostly favorable to these microtransactions and seems to purchase them (they must, or NCSoft would probably not continue to do them), it could be argued that they would come without the microtransaction itself.
Now, for myself , I find the idea of microtransactions a little frustrating (based on the history of *this* game not having microtransactions from the start), but I am in a position to easily afford the extra expense so I buy the ones that appeal to me.
Angry_Citizen and those that agree with him completely should always be allowed to voice their opinions as well as those who gladly buy into the microtransaction action. We really shouldn't harp on anyone who disagrees with the party line. They are the ones who help keep everyone honest
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to disagree with you.
First of all "but it does cost its playerbase" is wrong. It only costs the segment of the playerbase who uses Freedom of Choice to buy. No one else. To say microtransactions cost the playerbase is like saying SIRIUS Satellite Radio cost all motorists.
In case you want to argue that BaB's time, and all involved, are the cost you speak of, I submit, the success of the First Microtransaction pack made VEATs earlier release date possible. So that was a bonus not a cost. I imaging continuing such packs mean more benefit then cost to the playerbase.
Another thing to consider is adaptability. In the business world you have to be adaptive. IBM would have gone out of business decades ago had they stuck with typewriters. Sure microtransactions were not with the game from the start, but had the Devs adopted the mantra of "We will not introduce anything new. We will only stick to what we started with at the beginning of the game" This game would have evaporated about a year before City of Villains was released.
The microtransaction packs do not change the game. They are extras. Sure it would be great if they were free. I can't argue about that. Just like I can't argue that it would be great if once you buy the car, all the fuel is free. But its not, and its not unfair to have to buy fuel.
Its not unfair to buy these little extras. How often do you see anyone in a clothing store griping that all the accessories should be free? I bought the same suit as your last customer. How about giving me a silk tie, gold cufflinks, oh and a nice gold tie clip with a diamond stud in it for free? No, the fancy silk tie with the cool design embroidered on it! Um, maybe the cuff links should have diamonds to match the tie clip.
Microtransactions, booster packs, whatever, for purchase are fine. The player has the Freedom of Choice to buy or not to buy and its not game breaking if they don't. -

In my day, not only did you start collecting debt at lvl 6, you wern't even considered to be in debt till you were over 1 million in debt. Why, my first level 50 went from level 35 to 50 with 1.5 million perma-debt!
There was no Green Line to Skyway, or Founders Falls, and no fancy shmancy disco tech, or time travel short cuts. We had to run everywhere, Faultline was nothing but a Vhaz, Clock and CoT infested chasm that you could get hopelessly stuck in.
We didn't have bases with fancy porters, we had to run all the way across Bricks to get to Crey's Folley, and Founder's to get to Eden, or the Hive! When we traded inf to another hero, we had to make ten individual trades just to transfer one million cuz we could only trade 99999 at a time... and yes, that's right we didn't have fancy punctuation like commas either!
If ya took Fly as a travel power, you could bottom out yer endurance simply by leaving it toggled on and not doing anything else. And we liked it that way!
Yep, those were the days when there was real heroes. Heroes that could herd up every damn foe in Bricks, pile them all by the hundreds into a dumpster, and let the blasters nuke them all to hell in a single BSOD inducing, Protection fault overrun, map serving explosion! It was glorious!
Not at all like today's soft squishy heroes with their "We needz a heelorz" Young whippersnappers, don't none of em know what a real hero is!! [/OMM]

So, will the new forums allow us to post pictures and stuff like the guy did here? You'll have to scroll down a bit!
Hmpf, link wont go to the actual post, you will have to scroll down to see the photos.
And will we be able to put pictures in our Signatures too? You know.. big hulking sig pics that take up more space then the average post?

I certainly hope not.

I know it may not seem like it by the flavour of my previous post, but I'm in total agreement with you.
Most forums I dislike are the ones cluttered with pictures and picture signatures. They are intrusive and disrupt the flow of the posts. Keeping a visual template format somewhat similar to (but not altogether the same as) our current format would be great simply because the uncluttered nature makes following a thread easier. -

Ok, I've seen and heard enuff.

Oh, and Jay, if yer reading this... you have every right and reason to be proud of yer work! -
So, are werewolves gonna have some sort of canine tail? Maybe even a tail that sorta comes close to slightly suggesting a wolves' tail?
-
I am guessing this is an April Fools joke, cuz, after all, we are not the least bit concerned with making CoH/V so pretty, you need a fairly high end system with a really good nvidia card to see it. Players with not-so-robust systems have to turn down the eye candy just to run the game.
So why would we be the least bit concerned about how much hard drive space we are using on our players systems?
[ QUOTE ]
Players can optionally disable the Visual Sounds in the options menu, but are encouraged to keep them on, as all the sounds in the game are being removed to make room on the players hard drives for the new Visual Sound graphics.

I've always regarded Fire/Fire tanks as more of a scrapper then a tank, I've even leveled up one as a scrapper. Now I can actually roll a real Fire/Fire Scrapper!! -

I really love coh but this spamming is really annoying and I am seriously considering not playing anymore.
Sometimes I get these tells every ten minutes for hours.
I don't understand why there isn't a way to block tells as well as global and local messages. I know it wouldn't solve the problem because I've gotten several different tells from different accounts and the same tells from different accounts but at least I wouldn't have to hear the same message from the same person all night long.
I've petitioned a few times but I don't really see how it's helping and stopping every single time it happens (like in missions and other inconvenient times) is bothersome. Perhaps if I knew how petitioning was helping I would feel more inclined to continue doing it.
I know that complaining isn't much of a help to those working on the problem but I felt a need to say something. I really hope that the situation is taken care of expeditiously, and I will never again have to hear "poor for living?" >.< (If he's gonna spam he could at least make the message make sense)
[/ QUOTE ]Squeaky wheel and all that. It's not so much that your one petition will shut down the perp. It's that making the GMs, NCSoft, and Cryptic aware of the perp's actions, who the perp is, and the name of his website will all be a little helpful in their efforts to shut him down.
Also, the number of petitions will help the powers that be understand just how big a deal this is. -
I'm getting these tells twice and three times a day now. Its becoming a pain.
I recommend Cryptic and NCSoft go to these website and buy inf. Then when they meet the guy online, they can ID the perp and shut down his account.
The /ingnore is usless cuz the perps just churn out new toons and continue on. /gignore is also useless because that only shuts out any tells sent from their global handle and does not shut out any tells sent by the toons they make.
