Imagine if you will, a Defender ripping his shirt off and going face-first into a spawn.

Quote:Fair enough, madam. Those people choose to run the same task over and over. Those are not the only tasks that grant the rewards people want, they're just the fastest. People who want their rare boost have no choice but to run the same task over and over. This is the difference.
Now, I can't tell if you're being snarky or agreeing with me. If the former, my point remains valid in that Remus knew the level shift would make the current content easier and complaining about it isn't really doing anything productive. If the latter, I agree. Waiter, +3/x8 served raw, if you please! -
Quote:You know, I sat in the same boat you did until this thing launched.Or maybe the devs could try and not exclude people from their end game instead of copying WoW circa 5 years ago?
Nah, copying outdated raiding methods from a game with 100 times your sub amount=the sure fire bet.
I found a group of friendly people that let me hammer out an LRSF in about an hour, the usual time I get to play per day. So I did it, I got my Rare, I got shifted, and then I went to bed.
You could try to run it like I did and see where you stand then. If you already have unsuccessfully, try again when you get the chance. I spent all this time comparing CoX to WoW and, admittedly, I was way way off. -
-
I have to wonder if it only applies to certain Rares. I've heard of a few MMs with a Cardiac that haven't had problems, and a few MMs with Spiritual that have.

Quote:This really sounds like a case of "It's not you, it's me."This is pretty much it for me. CoX is a great game but I can only run so many tip missions and the like so many times. I'm bored and have nothing to do as a soloer. Unable to progress my main character any further there's just no real reason to stay subbed to this game.
People say- but but but there's stuff to do! Badge hunting, some badge hunting, or maybe you could badge hunt? Been there done that. Spent lots of time in AE and even there it's just making your own fun. When a game gets to the point where you as a player HAVE to make your own fun then something is wrong. The fun should be right there at your fingertips- not wtf am I going to do today...More tip missions? Sigh... Work on my multi billion prestige base? Done it, done it, done it.
I seriously think the developers are underestimating how large of the player base is soloers and small groups. When we can't progress our characters then it's done. Altitits only lasts for a spell then you hit the same wall. Just myself I have over 8 level 50 over 2 accounts... Really think I want to level another character when I can't fully enjoy the ones I already have?
To change the entire game direction at such a late stage... I just really don't get it Devs. Sometimes you must cut your own nose off despite your face to see reasoning. When subs start to suffer then 'hopefully' they'll start to understand. This sure as hell won't increase subs if that's the intention.
I still have fun even after 4 and a half years of play. Maybe it's time you found a new game? -
Quote:I refuse to say "WTF" because we're not in middle school.I feel the need to complain about the Weekly Strike Task (or whatever the acronym is; I only know that they refuse to use the obvious 'WTF'.)
Quote:What I can't accept is how ill-conceived it was to tell the entire playerbase to do the same task force over and over again.
Quote:Last night on Virtue, Independence Port had tremendous lag and appeared to be about to crash at least twice that I saw. Getting onto Stateman's ship was a slideshow. Telling your players to gather in the same zone every single day was a bad decision.
Quote:But even that's minor compared to the mind-numbing tedium of doing the same task force several times, on one character or with several. And once you've completed it on one character, that character is too powerful to find challenge in any other content in the game -- not that you can play any other high-level content, because most everyone else is grinding away at the WST.
Quote:Issue 19 came with new, challenging task forces that reinvigorated the high level game. Issue 19.5 is a step backwards, instructing the playerbase to re-consume old content for even less reward. The WST is a recipe for boredom, and it will only be played for as long as people can stand doing repetitive tasks. Every player will have their limit; I hit mine in one day.
They will. Honestly, your opinions could have been spoken a week and a half ago and they'd apply. You knew the level shift was coming, you knew that the WST would be one hell of a cramped package on the first day, and you knew (and didn't recognize) that there would be double the rewards for the WST. -
50(+1) here too. Big bad Nalrok snagged a Cardiac Partial Radial Revamp and shifted up!
Next stop, Cardiac Partial Core Revamp! After that, CARDIAC CORE PARAGON!
Sweet sweet 45% endurance reduction. Guuhhh. e_e -
Currently running a Cardiac Partial Revamp, and no issues on a Dark/Dark Brute. Ever. Have run about 25 missions since slotting it, including an ITF.

The past week has seen me furiously posting about how the WST is going to knock out any chance for people like me (who have very little time to dedicate to TF's/SF's) to get my upper tier Alpha's.
Now, with the first two WST's announced (for those who haven't seen next week's, go to the I19 announcement/overview pages) I'm going to take back the things I said and admit I was overreacting.
The STF/LRSF aren't tasks that I would have trouble overcoming. In fact, after some banter with my buddies who've done them quite rapidly I may be able to crank out what is essentially a "speed run" tonight.
Since next week's WST is the Imperious Task Force, a TF I can complete in an hour with just myself and three other friends (Dark/Dark Brute, Ill/Kin Troller, AR/Traps Corr, Plant/Emp Troller), I'm no longer worried about taking the first steps toward my sweet, sweet [Cardiac Core Paragon].
So, I'm Nalrok Ath'Zim, and I overreacted.
Thanks, Devs, for the kickass system. -

Quote:You'd "****ing walk" if the devs said they loved you, Johnny.I got my Well Notices for this week already. I lucked out and found a decent team that was doing runs on their alts.
If the devs roll back the update because of this bug and I have to run the worthless piece of crap that is the STF a half dozen more times to re-earn my Rare Alphas, I'm going to ****ing walk.

I overheard a few people on Virtue's LFG Alpha channel saying that the first mission was dumping them, and I assume these folks weren't level shifted as this was 20 minutes after the WST was announced. It might just be the amount of similar instances being run at the same time.

Quote:Which is why I tried to act so civil when I found out I was teamed with Jim Butcher. If he's smart he never tells anyone. I've never been one to give a crap about someone being "famous" but there's too many crazies in this world (even in our great community) for him to risk letting himself be known. He'd open the door to having ZERO fun and being stalked.
I wish him the same as anyone else who plays: to have fun and not act like people from the WoW community. -

I hate the running 90% of the time. Then there's that 10% where it makes me laugh.
Example: I, on my Dark/Dark Brute, hover in to a group of Nemesis. After a leisurely Soul Drain I proceed to hammer all but one Nemesis Dragoon into the ground with little effort.
He stares at me, being out of range of my melee attacks and my DoT aura.
I stare at him, waiting for Gloom to recharge.
He takes the **** off and the next time I see him he's slowly walking back from the other end of the map.
"Maybe he forgot about me, maybe he forgot ab-- OH GOD THERE HE IS!" -

Quote:No. The more urban areas of Talos feel like Downtown Seattle; you're surrounded by buildings but can see the ocean if you look down main street.I've never been to Seattle, but that seems far fetched. Never been to Milwaukee, but I'm pretty certain it doesn't look like Steel Canyon...
Am I detecting sarcasm?
As far as Milwaukee, look up some images. Again, it may be just me but that's how I feel!
I could also liken Steel Canyon to Houston but... the projects in Steel aren't as scary. -
-
I assume that once the WST is announced we'll form a plan of action?

Quote:.... you know, you're right. Then again, Talos Island feels a lot like Seattle, Washington (where NCSoft recently threw up a new office) and Steel Canyon feels like Milwaukee, Wisconsin without all the rails.I always thought Founders Falls had some striking similarities to Austin Texas.
That's just me though. -
