First, thanks for the reply Zwill. Always helps to know it's being seen, you know?

That said, I can understand the differences between SDCC images and Official images conceptually, but not technically. I can't help but feel that, regardless of the medium, folks wouldn't want this revamp for the CoT. We're still seeing the costumes, regardless of the image quality and/or method of delivery.

I only started this thread to request the Devs give us a heads up if changes like this were in store for other enemy groups of the game.

It's a pretty extreme word to use repeatedly about a personal preference in a game. Some people feel they weren't great, in context. Others were 'meh'. Unless you birthed the CoT from your nascent man-womb after 14 hours of extended unmedicated labor, (which might actually make the word atrocity appropriate in perspective), I'm not sure that word applies. (also eew.)

Language is a powerful thing, both in its use and its abuse.
(I normally hate to be this blunt.)

I used the word I felt appropriate to use. If it's not appropriate to you, that doesn't make it my problem. I didn't start this thread to argue semantics and definitions. My word of choice remains valid as per it's given definitions and debating it's usage is not a productive use of my time.

Dude, it's as if Blizzard's Gorilla suddenly vomited all over the CoT, and my favorite superhero game. I'd rather see those pieces for the players. And yes, atrocity. Leave the iconic visuals of the CoT as the visuals of the CoT. We don't need spandex-y "look at my glorious ***" mages. We need creepy cultists and robes.

I'm not here to argue, so take your provocation and do something else with it.

And the perspective I'd like to have is one of a player getting to see changes before they're implemented, LONG before they're implemented. If someone hadn't caught this at Comic Con, it'd have gone to the Training Room and we'd have a last minute "DO NOT WANT" followed by a dev saying "too late."

Doesn't change my sentiment. There was one whole hell of a lot of objections to the new CoT look. Now, things like a faction visual change don't come often. I only brought this up because I don't want Malta turning into spaghetti-western cowboys, or Crey looking like a really bad ripoff of Johnny Test.
  6. After seeing the atrocity that is the CoT redesign, I think it'd behoove the devs to let us know if there are any other faction revamps in the works, that way this whole "OMG WTF NO DON'T CHANGE IT" fiasco doesn't spring up again when they may hit live. Thoughts?
  7. I refuse to allow them to develop for the iOS when they can't even get the mac client right.

Don't ask me how I'll stop them. I'll find a way.
  8. Maybe they fixed the memory leak.

    Fixed.
  10. Made a thread to hopefully address this one. Check out the Virtue IC/OOC Meet & Greet. :3

RPers, let us UNITE! Or something uplifting.

What do you mean? The 'When' is right up there below 'Where.'

I can't tell if you're being snarky or not so I'll answer honestly: From the general tones of the "Looking for RP" posts we've seen popping up here on Virtue lately, I think these things will police themselves. They may not even be a problem. The overall feel of these need-for-RP posts was that people were sick of godmoding, 'holier than thou' argument-based characters, angsty wangsty teens, emo darkity-darks, terrible "I am canon" concepts and other aforementioned wing-dang-diddly.
  12. Okay Virtue, I've decided to take action. I see these threads about old (and new) players asking for a new breed of RP, a breed harkening back to the glory days of Virtue before the AE baby fallout and the mass of people flocking to CO and returning so disappointed they quit shortly after.

(The previous paragraph is not up for debate, so don't correct me. Demonstrative purposes only.)

I'm organizing an IC/OOC meet and greet this Saturday at 6PM PST/7PM MST/8PM CST/9PM EST.

    So here's the breakdown:

    Quote:
    Virtue IC/OOC Meet and Greet

Where: The Midnighter Club, Main Meeting Room (the one with the round table)

    When: July 30th, 6PM PST/7PM MST/8PM CST/9PM EST.

Why: Because myself and other like-minded RPers are yearning for some good, quality RP.
Things/concepts the meeting can do without:
    • Godmoding.
    • Characters that think they're part of the lore (Lord Recluse's son, the love child of Statesman and Ms. Liberty (ew), The Crey Doctor who worked on Synapse, etc.)
    • Generic Barskank Catgirls (obligatory catgirl joke complete).
    • A need to argue.
    • A bad attitude.
    • Netspeak.
    • Wangst.
    • Emo garbage.

    Additional Information:

I figure for the sake of thoroughness and the desires of each RPer, we can come with whatever toon we want to bring. We'll introduce ourselves OOC first, and then use our RP skillz to cobble together reasons for all of these multidimensional characters to meet in a place such as the Midnighter Club. Summons, a letter, a message rune, a premonition, you get the idea.

After the OOC and other pleasantries, players can feel free to swap to other characters. This allows attendees to show off their arsenal of RP characters at their own discretion. I know I'll be swapping quite a bit.

So that said, mark your calendars and please feel free to reply to this thread to confirm your attendance!

But do you overuse them? Like, a lot? Like, periods are no longer how you end your sentences? You know... When someone overuses them like this... Like they're constantly trailing off... Never using a comma... Just tons of ellipses...

It's like ants pooped in your RP. Little tiny dots everywhere.

  14. You can't activate your medical teleporter when you've been blown to pieces/de-atomized/thrown in lava/smashed into a fine paste/hurled into the sun/had your skull crushed/been flat out killed with one strike.

I mean, the porter will fire I'm sure, but... I'm not sure the hospital would want what comes out of the tube.

I'm just not forcing the way I play down on you.

When I see players RP'ing that they are gods, sons/daughters of gods, reincarnated gods, etc. I know that I'm not going to have any fun because it's no longer about your character and more about getting wrapped up in some diluted reality where I'm supposed to believe "/em punches you so hard you think you are dying" is really happening to my character.

I like to RP, but not when it's "Bang! I shot you!" "No you didn't, I had a shield up." "But I used magic bullets and they passed through."

Didn't mean this to be a rant. Just that we're all looking for likeminded RP'ers, but in the end it's hard to actually find just that.
You and me need to hang out, man! Seriously. I have some VEAT toons, some big gnarly toons, and my pride & joy Nalrok; none of them are going to upstage anyone. Why play a part if everyone wants to be lead?

I've said this before, and I'll offer it again: The folks in this thread need to meet up and interact. We all seem to have like-minded goals for RP, and I'd really REALLY REALLY like to get back into regular RP on my beloved server.

All in favor? If people really are interested in a roleplay meet 'n greet I'll set up some sort of RP event/OOC meeting and post it to the Virtue forums.

Grandville brosephs. Turning into a great RP setting, filled with multiple levels of exploration (Have you guys seen the tunnels under the city, with NPC chokepoints? Amazing) and superior places for deal-making, VG meeting, and hell, I feel more comfortable ERPing in Grandville nowadays compared to Pocket D or Arena.

    Just saying.
I may need to start perusing the plated walkways of Grandville.

Come meet Nalrok, Mandu. He's a demon. A big, royal demon prince. With horns. And he's Dark/Dark/Soul. And he eats souls. And he's really strong.

But he also loves conversation, enjoys meeting people and forging new friendships, has a soft spot for opera, prefers verbal subterfuge to just smashing things into dust, and would sooner spend an evening walking the streets of St. Martial for fun than shredding CoT for no reason.

That's not to say he won't end you if you piss him off, but still, he's not your stereotypical demon ****** like the rest of the evil populace.

I've never found an Arachnos VG to be sane, let alone accomodating.

I myself would like to find a more serious RP crowd, considering how steep the decline of RPers has been on Virtue. Or at least, how steep the decline has been in open, non-clique RP groups and open-zone RP.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Get out of your bases. It's bad enough that people perpetuate the "nerd who lives in the basement" stereotype, and it's even worse when a lot of groups on Virtue tack on "RPer who RP's in base only."

What I mean is, it's a dev choice. Yes, VEATs are 'conceptually locked.' However, for all intents and purposes, you could easily put a Vanguard Redding Rifle in their customization options. THey both shoot the same, they fire 'nades the same, they have markedly similar animations. It's dev choice that they don't get AR models due to concept.
  23. You know what I mean. Identical concepts/weapons don't necessarily mean customization options, swords being the exception only recently.
