Quote:This would be excellent, especially considering how the Ice Manipulation Sustain power will provide Absorb.Another APP question: the blaster max max health cap is about +34.6% Hoarfrost buffs max health by +30% and is enhanceable. It offers very marginal benefit beyond its heal if you have +health accolades, and its +maxhealth enhanceability is essentially worthless with or without health accolades. Would it be reasonable to consider switching hoarfrost from a +maxhealth buff to an absorb shield so blasters could benefit from that power without having to tamper with the blaster health cap? As an absorb shield it could still be very strong, independent of maxhealth.

Quote:Doesn't mean I'm going to stop pushing for better redside writing. I'd be willing to bet that if the shoe was on the other foot, you'd be clamoring for better hero writing like I am for villain writing. This argument is pointless.
No one's going to change anyone's mind, and that goes double for Golden "I have a smug, dismissive comment for everything" Girl.
It's also not going to result in any more proper villain content, because even if the current devs are capable of writing some, it's not as cost-effective for them as co-op content. If a shrinking minority of their playerbase has to grit their teeth while doing it, well, too bad. -
Quote:We've been doing that over and over and over and over again. We shouldn't have to keep using the same excuse every time new content comes out. I have a great number of villains. They are not all the same. They do not all care whether or not the world blows up tomorrow. They wouldn't lift a finger to help the heroes.Villains are villains partly because they can, and will, do whatever is beneficial (in whatever way) to them without regard for the cost. Saving the world to get cosmic powers and a place to keep all your stuff is not even in the same league let alone ballpark as slaughtering the innocents because their wails of anguish are displeasing to your ears and you don't want to spend a buck on earplugs.
Quote:Basically, a villain has no limits. A hero does. A villain can justify anything.
Quote:Heroes have to go red to get PPPs. Villains don't have to go blue to get APPs. So heroes too are forced into content that they don't like to get powers.
Alpha/Judgement/Interface/Lore/Destiny Slots
Badges from the RWZ/Cimerora/Dark Astoria/Holiday Trials
Completion of SSA1
Please don't compare the two. You guys get 4-5 badges out of going red, getting your powers and swapping back alone. Sure, we get APP's for free but we still get shoehorned into being heroic everywhere else in the end game. -
I'm in! I'm @Insane V and I'd be happy to help you out. Look for my /tell soon!

Quote:Ah, gotcha. My apologies.I think you misunderstood. By "extreme measures" I was suggesting that co-op (and therefore hero) players should have to do things that are evil but necessary in the context of a major crisis/war.
If co-op forces villains to save the world it should also force heroes to kill civilians.
Quote:What gets me is that it could have been so EASY to add one more line there.
Most of the things players want have a significant cost in time and money (textures, powers). But writing slightly differently really ... doesn't.
The only conclusion I can make is that the villainous options were omitted on purpose.
We really need an "All things writing" thread, with redname participation.
"Shut up, Townshend. You have five seconds to tell me where I can find someone to kill."
"Enough with the sob story. You have a problem. I have free time, superpowers, and some spare bloodlust. Let's help each other out here." -

Quote:Thanks for the clarification!Regeneration attributes will be 50% enhanceable - this means those powers will accept both standard Heal enhancements as well as Heal IO sets. Healing and Absorbption attributes will be 100% enhanceable so that you don't see two separate numbers tick over your head every time you use them, but their base value of hitpoints per second will start slightly lower so that the average enhanced performance of all Sustain abilities is within the same ballpark across all Blaster secondaries.
I can't remember if this was confirmed or not, but it's my understanding that the self-affecting portions of these upcoming "new" powers do not need to hit enemies to work. Is this true?
EDIT: Also will the "new" powers be receiving any visual changes? -
Will the heal/absorb/recovery of the new Manipulation powers be enhanceable? For example, after I24 is implemented, will I be able to slot a Healing Enhancement into Blazing Aura in Fire Manipulation?
-
Except not all of the Loyalists are evil. Many of them are true heroes with good hearts. So you're telling me that you enjoyed smashing other heroes?

Quote:That was a great, great flick. It was nice to see a horror movie you had to think about that didn't rely on an entire orchestra going "HWHONK" every time something relatively unsettling appeared on screen.Yup. Session 9. Sadly, the real Danvers State was demolished to put in apartment buildings back in 2006. ... several of which burned to the ground in a mysterious inferno in 2007.
Anywho! /derail -
Quote:That'd be interesting. On top of that they COULD up the range on the non-snipe sets to compensate somehow. Or, hell, they could strengthen the secondary effects. We'll see, I guess. They did say they'll figure something out, and I hope it's something 'good'. As I said, the only thing they could do is just increasing the base power of those sets standard blasts. Super charging the Tier 3 Blast probably wouldn't work.
Quote:Now I'm going to sit here and try to remember what Nature Affinity did.
Me? I'm waiting patiently for Sorcery. -
I try.
Quote:I want at least some idea of what Hawk and Synapse have planned if these four sets fall behind (and they will fall behind, period). Just some assurance that my purchase of Water Blast won't be in vain. RP Concepts are one thing, but money is money and performance is a thing.
EDIT: You know, thinking about it, I've realized Paragon does power/game change in a way that all developers should: instead of nerfing everyone for one set underperforming and/or nerfing one overperforming set (Looking at you, Blizzard), the team brings other sets up to overperforming ones and/or boosts up the one set that's underperforming. -

I don't know, man, I have a 30 Water/Poison on Beta and I haven't had that much fun with a Corruptor since my Beam/Time, Beam Time.

Quote:And I suppose if I'm tired of having an upper respiratory infection I should simply stop breathing, right? Try again. As for all of the usual complaints about villain content, there are people who simply need to stop playing villains.
No one has implied that it should be.
Yes. That is the complaint. Well done.
Except is has, in Dean MacArthur, Leonard and Vincent Ross. It's been done. It needs to be done more often. You can't tell us it can't be delivered when it already has. -
Quote:Would you prefer the alternative?I play Stalkers, Nalrok. And even I acknowledge Assassin's Focus was overkill.
Spoiler Alert: I play every AT besides Brutes, really. Don't know why I never rolled a Brute. Weird.
Honestly I'd rather have overkill Stalkers than still-sub-par Stalkers. -
That's your opinion. It's also subjective. Prior to Assassin's Focus every Stalker I ever played felt anemic and withered when compared to any of my other characters, even my buff-oriented Controllers. The change was for the better and I see absolutely no reason to look down on it. It seems like you're approaching the Stalker changes from a center of resentment, like your favorite AT didn't get the new shiny and you're upset that now an under-performing AT is performing well.
-
Quote:Good. That's what Stalkers needed.Assassin's Strike is not a 'decent power'. Assassin's Strike is blatantly overpowered. Combined with all the other Stalker Changes, it was "Way too much".
By the way, what exactly are you talking about when you say "all the other stalker changes"? The scaling crits? The PBAoE suppression in hide? Those two things happened long before the AS change and the max HP boost, and Stalkers were STILL way underpowered then. -
Quote:You realize that's what I've been saying all along, right? And, as we've been saying again and again and again, it's not a problem that villains and heroes occasionally has to team up to accomplish something. It can make for a cool moment in a story. The problem is when that's the only content ever released. If you want to run your villain through content newer than Issue 7, you will have to play predominantly heroic content (some of which doesn't even try to give you a vaguely villainous excuse for being there).
Quote:Regarding the incarnate content and villains. With this huge inter dimensional war, what happened to the theme of "extreme measures to achieve victory" ?
Quote:And the iTrials need to be co-op to work from a game mechanics perspective (unless we get cross server teaming). Arcs do not. So where are the villainous incarnate arcs ?
"I'll be playing the role of hero today."
"I'm here to save the day." (or something very, very similar)
Why the hell even bother? -
Quote:Enhancement Boosters might help.Be careful. Mids rounds off. According to my calculations, 3 level 50 IOs would get to you 21.99%. If the game is accurate to the same two digits for the purpose of this calculation, you'd be off by 0.01%.
You need to get to at least 58.56% tohit enhancement strength in Mids on Targeting Drone. Three 50 IOs is 58.48%. -
