Quote:Some people enjoy just standing around spamming pbaoe resourse builders, especially with blades. They deserve having stuff trained onto them. Not really. When mobs get pulled out of their natural habitat, they are focused on that person who pulled them - if that person dies or gets away, they start running back to where they were pulled from. Unless someone attacks them first, they won't aggro on anyone until they're back where they came from, no matter how close another player might be.
EDIT: I do not really endorse training mobs onto jerks. -
Find that punk what stole yo name and drive over in yo pimpin' ride and threaten to pop a cap in his *** dawg. He ain't got no business stealin' yo name like dat. Make him watch yo video a coupla times too.

Quote:If you (like I did) have trouble getting the .txt extension off the file, you may need to unhide extensions on file names.Make sure the two files you create (auto_login and auto_teleport) don't have the .txt extension in their names. They need to just be plain files.
In Windows Explorer (Windows 7 at least) go tools -> Folder Options -> View tab. Make sure 'Hide extensions for known file types' is unchecked.
I'm sure the Windows literate knew that already, but some of us take a while figuring things out. :-/ -

Quote:I wouldn't want to be in a cabal where members couldn't freely insult each other's mothers and accuse each other of bizarre sexual fetishes. In my old WoW guild that seemed to be the primary reason for the guild's existence. Why?!?!
My hubby and I started our own cabal because we don't necessarily fit into the "be nice, don't say anything abrasive, or curse, etc." that seems to be in the rules of every cabal I've looked at. While we aren't malicious, we are definitely not "politically correct". We find humor in everything including ourselves, pretty much nothing is off limits as long as it's not meant to hurt anyone intentionally. -
It's still unlikely Paragon staffers will have anything very negative to say about NCSoft. Unless they do so anonymously. Being publicly critical of ex-employers can hurt future job searches.

Quote:Carbuncled zombie things? You mean like these? There is plenty of stuff in the game ripped from King, and many other authors. And I also get a Pirates of the Carribean vibe from the carbuncled zombie things in the seacoast of Kingsmouth.
Those are from the Doctor Who serial "The Curse of Fenric." First broadcast in 1989. Plus the Norse mythology. If you look back far enough you'll find there aren't many truly original ideas. -

Quote:Council #1: Did you just hear a lot of gunfire and screaming around the corner? While I do find it frustrating at times it adds realism to the game. One of the most immersion breaking things in CoH is/was how mobs are/were totally oblivious to all hell breaking loose 10 feet away from them in an unobstructed line of sight. Even ignoring panicked allies running thru them.
Council #2: Probably just that idiot Bob shooting himself in the foot.
Council #1: Yeah, you're probably right. Screw Bob.
Council #2: Roger. Let's get back to holding this guy hostage in a corridor instead of putting him in the perfectly good prison we have in the back. -
The female ones. Except Silver Mantis and Mother Mayhem.

Quote:It certainly LOOKS like that's where the scene is going. But given that the character lies back and is dumped directly into the Tokyo flashback she's probably just casting a spell on you.Don't get me wrong, but it was a bit of a culture shock coming from CoH to see how the Dragon send their recruits to the first training mission.
Of course, maybe it IS what it looks like and that's, um, how she works her magic. While creepy tattoo guy watches. -

That is a real tough requirement right there. CoH is the only MMORPG I've played that allowed eight on a (non-raid) team. There's probably something out there that allows regular groups of that size, but I couldn't say what. Five tends to be the standard maximum team size.

It definitely takes some getting used to. There are plenty of things that could use some refinement, but that's not unusual at all for MMOs in the early days. Our own beloved CoH was lacking quite a bit at launch. Hell, we had no crafting system (or auction house) and our heroes couldn't even wear capes (because the devs hadn't figured out how to make them look right.) Among other things.

Quote:A lot of the interface isn't very intuitive. To change your clothing hit 'c' to open up the character interface and then select dressing room. You can do this at any point. You only have to visit the clothing vendors to buy new pieces. Most of the clothing vendors (as well as the auction house) are in London.Again thanks for the info on this. I hadn't found their version of the tailor yet so I didn't know what all the options were.
Edit: And yes, most of the cash shop stuff is hideously overpriced.
Additional Edit: if you acquire any bonus points for the cash shop (as in from completing 30 missions) you'll need to spend them VERY soon. They expire at the end of 9/30/12 (that's tomorrow as of the time I write this.) Bonus points available are listed seperately in the cash shop. -

Quote:The Dragon indeed does not plan for everything. The essence of the Dragon's philosophy is to introduce new factors into a situation just to see how things change. Analyzing the results then allows them to have better models for the future. They don't send the player to Kingsmouth with any clear directive. You're more or less just told to go there, poke around a bit, and see what happens.I think the Dragon version of the Rogue Agent mission as well as the conclusion of the Dawning of an Endless Night arc make it clear that the Dragons don't always plan for everything.
We are the ones who flip the coins. -

The article contains at least one obvious incorrect statement. It refers to Nexon as owning a majority stake in NCSoft. Nexon is the largest single shareholder for NCSoft, but it's 15%-ish ownership is pretty far from from a majority.
