NEW WEBSITE LIVE

[ QUOTE ]
I thought this would take alot longer to do,

[/ QUOTE ]

It does, it's a very steep learning curve and I've been doing this for many, many years. Your first attempt will probably take a few months or so to get right. Don't let that put you off though.

Another thing to remember is Marvellous Web uses databases to store information. You shouldn't need to do anything as complex as that for your own site. It's just that I'm a show off

NEW WEBSITE LIVE

Well I was able to use some of the coding from the old site on the new one so that cut the development time down alot. It works out at roughly 2 days a per page and 3 days for the navigation/design.

So 9 days or there abouts, but stretched over the last month and a half.

NEW WEBSITE LIVE

Yes you're right it should

[EDIT]
And now it does

Actually it should have read 'Secret' and so should Miss' so I've changed them

Ironically it took me less time than making a post on here.

I would like to nominate Miss Marvellous for Maestro Attacks Chapter 1 . She didn't tell me she was working on it and I was so impressed when I saw it. Considering that was only her 3rd attempt at demo editing I think she did a fantastic job.

[/ QUOTE ]

NB. Aparently the video doesn't work anymore. It must be because of the structure of the new site. You can view the film at youtube.
5. I have to say, the standard of all of the entrants was VERY high. In the end it just came down to the ones we thought would fit with us best.

NEW WEBSITE LIVE

Actually, that's a relally good idea. I might have a think about that this weekend

Which one of you can't spell archetype?

[/ QUOTE ]

That would be me. Let me know where it is and I'll fix it

Thank you everyone who has responded so far. It's been a labour of love for me as well as some very, very, very late nights. I really do feel like I have run a marathon (metaphorically speaking). All of your feedback is welcomed and encouraged. I am so pleased that people like it
8. As some are no doubt awaire, the 'Make us a theme tune' competition finished on Friday. Miss and I have been deliberating over the weekend to choose a winner and there was one that we both thought would be the prefect tune for us.

It is my great pleasure to announce the winner is:

STAR_JEWEL

I will be in touch shortly to arrange getting the prizes to you.

Star_Jewel's piece will feature in several of our productions and is already on the brand new website.

We also have a runner up who will be featured on the website (in the Group Members section) and that goes to CoffyTdB for his piece called 'Last Beat'.

Thank you to EVERYONE who has supported the competition and to all the entrants who made this possible.

We have had a great responce from everyone and because of that we are already thinking about what our next competition will be. Stay tuned

Ladies and Gentlemen it is my great pleasure to invite you to view our new website. It's the same address as always but has some new feature so it should be easy for us to add new things to it.

It's always wise to be cautious when dealing with Crey. They have significant resources at their disposal, not all of them armed and in the field.

[/ QUOTE ]

Too late. They already knew what we were doing. Melissa and I managed to get out by slowing down the guards but Neil and Natasha wern't as lucky. Something where they were captured them.

When we got to the werehouse we were jumped by two Crey tanks. We both managed to weaken them somewhat and I was able to use my sonic abilities to disorient them a little and Sis took them out with her arrows. I've seen her practcing and she always seams a bit unsure but when we're up against it, damn she's good.

Inside the werehouse were groups of Crey. They obviously knew we were coming and were ready for us. Some of them fired this ice stuff at us. It was so cold. Thes costumes arn't particularly effective at keeping the heat out.

It took us ages to look around the place. So many boxes filled with stuff. There were old bits from Clockwork, parts of Councle robots and even a dead Fake Nemesis. Eventually we found what we were looking for. We grabbed the storage drive and shorted there computer system. We're going to wipe this drive and completely distroy it. The information on here could be anything from personal files to government secrets. We need to make sure it doesn't get into the wrong hands.

I have no idea what we're going to do about Neil and Natasha. We have to get them out of there but I don't know how. Time maybe running out for them.
11. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah when I got to 41 I though "I dont need Conserve Power after all"

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I got to 38 and all of a sudden started having End problems again, but only when Elude dropped and I needed to back Miss up. I find that if you hit a few CABs and then CP you don't have those end problems and it doesn't require you to hit enemies. Miss uses a combo of the two just to keep going (she's DM/DA) but you'll only need to run 3 toggles and a clicky. The overall END usage is greatly reduced.

Appart from that, the fitness pool and my travel pool it is the only power I have not in my primary or secondary. This has enableled me to take all of the passives as well as the toggles and the majority of my primary pool as well. I know you miss out on the 'fun' of the Epic pools but you can live without ranged attacks.

Slotting your shields for end redux (and with Stamina as well) will help ALOT.
12. I'd like to echo a few things that Miss said and comment from my own experiance.

[ QUOTE ]

Mr Marvellous Scrapper is a Kat/SR scrapper and he pairs up with my DM/DA all the time. He's currently lvl 45 and he always has more enduarnce than me and very rearly struggles.

[/ QUOTE ]

To get that I have all of my shields 3 slotted for end red as well as 2 end reds split between 2 attacks (one in Soaring Dragon the other in Golden Dragonfly). I can keep going for a few mobs before needing to hit Concerve.

[ QUOTE ]

A much better choice imo for a SR Scrapper is Aid Self

[/ QUOTE ]

Totally agree. You won't believe the amount of times this has saved my life.

[ QUOTE ]
18) --> Hasten

[/ QUOTE ]

Personally I would drop this from your build. You don't need it, althought it is a help with DM you could slot a recharge in your powers. If you do take it you probably won't want to leave it on Auto since it is handy to have Practiced Brawler up all the time. 3 recrge will do that for you.

I would seriously consider droping Focused Accuracy, Laser Beam Eyes and Energy Torrent and getting Conserve Energy instead. That way you can afford to shiffle the rest of your powers around to fit Aid Self and Aid Other in.

You then have the choice with Hasten. Either keep it or drop it in favour of FA.

As well as this, you only have 3 "traditional" attacks. I would take them as soon as you can and slot them up, but that's just me

But I wouldn't drop a passive. They all stack and even though the passives only give you 10% base defence (IIRC) it's MUCH better than nothing.

I only took my first passive recently (I'm getting them instead of epics) and it has made a huge difference already.
13. Well thank you Melissa. I'm in troubble now. The little sneeky rat went and told Mom and dad about it. I mean, how was I supposed to know she knew how to use the internet.

You wait. I'll get you back.

I've been grounded and I'm not allowed to do anything else appart from setting up this computer. It's not fair

They took away my internet access as well so I had to post this using Dads account. That's what happens when you set up computers, you know everyones passwords. So I want to hear from people who have any ideas about what I can do to my sister to get her back.
14. Well this is the last day of the competition. I would like to thank all of the entrants for there time and effort. I have been very impressed with the level of the entrants.

If you still want to join you can until Midnight tonight, just post in this thread or PM me with your entry.
15. I would like to nominate Miss Marvellous for Maestro Attacks Chapter 1 . She didn't tell me she was working on it and I was so impressed when I saw it. Considering that was only her 3rd attempt at demo editing I think she did a fantastic job.
16. For those interested, I have a picture of the Thermo-chromatic mug that the winner will be recieving.

It's really nice actually and both Miss and I want one for ourselves

3 days to go now. Good luck everyone and for those still thinking about entering, please remember it's this Friday that it all finishes.
17. Yes, I know somewhere I said there was one week to go in another thread but I was mistaken and there is actually one week to go until the close of our competition to find us a Theme Tune.

We are accpeting entries until the end of this Friday and the winner will be announced on Monday 21st along with the launch of our new site.

Do you think you can do better than our other entrants?

DON'T MISS OUT!
18. I have recieved another entry, this time from Star_jewel.

Here's what Star_Jewel said about it:
[ QUOTE ]
It's inspired by music from Star Trek, Batman, Superman, Biker Mice From Mars and several other favorite series.

It begins with a slow trumpet piece, kinda like the Star Trek TNG intro. It plays the main theme which is used trough out the song.
It then goes into a somewhat more classic superhero theme,
and finally finishes of with some rock.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can hear the piece here
19. [ QUOTE ]
is it ok if its mostly guitar

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep, perfectly fine. Good luck with it
20. Technically the BEST programms to use would be Photoshop, Illistrater and Quark Express. All of which are pricy and probably too complex for what you need to just get started.

Your best bet is to go to http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/ and get a copy of:

<ul type="square"> [*]PhotoPlus [*]DrawPlus[*]PagePlus
They are all free.

Serif give alot of there software away through this site so people will buy the new ones. There are also tutorials and IIRC the manuels are included. It's a good way to get started but expect to be advertised at
21. Mr_Marvellous

Costume Contest.

How about this then.

I call him 'Thorny Devil'.

Edit: I'm sure that name will have been taken by someone though.
22. Thanks _Max_

And congratulations on being the first person to submit an entry on to this thread

I'm trying not to comment on submissions at all, want to stay nice an impartial, but you've done a great job, as have all our competiters so far.

Just a reminder to everyone. You have 3 weeks and 3 days left to enter. Good luck all
23. Another update and another entry which I thought I should pass on to this thread.

Again from the French community, this is by Joe_Mezca. You can listen to the track by clicking the link below.

Click here to open a new window that will play the song.
24. I wanted to let others hear this. It's the first entrant in the competition all the way from the French creative boards. It's called "Last Beat" and it's by CoffyTdB. Here's what he has to say about it:

[ QUOTE ]
As you said that the Marvelous Family is tenacious , I've just finished a piece of music for you and your family. It's based on a beating heart that will never stop. It doesn't breath happiness (a word to word translation of a french expression, I don't think it means anything in English but)... well it's not a very happy music and it's called Last Beat.

[/ QUOTE ]

Right click and choose 'Save As' to download the entry
25. [ QUOTE ]
In what style do you want this tune to be?

Dark light Batman or really big like Superman style....rock or dance that kinda thing?

And the length, how long do u want it to be?

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, the style is up to you. We have very eclectic taists so there really is no limit in that respect. There's nothing wrong with a buffy style theme, a John Williams masterpiece, the darkness of Danny Elfman or Graeme Revell even something along the lines of 'Bring Me To Life'.

Whatever feels right for you.

As far as legnth goes, I have no set legnth in mind. I would suggest that you take into account the subject matter though. I am really looking for a good overall piece with a few bars or notes that signify the characters.Legnth doesn't really matter but if it's long it would be good if it is then editable to fit different projects.

I hope that you can find some inspiration on our current site www.marvellousweb.co.uk and look forward to your entry

I am very excited about this
