Oro doesn't work under 25 and base Teleporters for all zones are not realistic to casual players with limited time who just wan to get on, join a group and start a mission without standing around waiting or running through several zones.
-
Okay I recently got the Mac booster to pick up mission teleport and OMG has this made life better.
It is SO useful when grouping to be able to click a button and end up where the group is meeting. Previously I had just been logging out by the market to get market teleports to quickly move to new zones when joining a team (a real problem if you are in Mercy for example) and with being able to cross from Red content to Blue content this has only made this capacity more valuable!
Even when we're in the same zone together just the ability to run to the store and quickly TP to the next mission rather then fly or jump is just really great! I don't understand why this power is jammed into an obscure booster and given a rediculous 2 hours timer!
Frankly even though I paid good money for the Mac pack I would LOVE to see something similar like the ability to TP to whatever you are currently targeted on added to the game with a more reasonable 15-30 minute timer rather then the rediculous 120 minute timer. It just makes teaming up across zones and getting on with missions so much faster and sooooooo much less bother.
Even though I don't have it likewise the very, very useful Team Assemble power with the much mroe reasonable 30 minute timer just massively improves life for a group and it can't even reach across zones.
I implore the devs to consider adding more TP to the game in future as a new inherent, or another booster or even if only in the form of single use temp powers you can buy or invent. I really don't care how, I just want to be able to zip across zone to a group as soon as I get an invite so we can get right to missions or task forces rather then standing around forever. CoH has always been very good about cutting down the time wasted on travel and up until now it hasn't been a big deal but with Red side/Blue side and eventualyl Gold Side travel all being bottle necked through Pocket D and a very limited number of access points travel is starting to become a real time consuming bother at times.
Please, please, please consider expanding the availablity and scope of point to location teleportation like the pocket D and mission teleporters. -
Quote:If they do that I want a Knives of Artemis pack, wrist mounted crossbows are awesome!Hmm, how about packs based on enemy factions?
Longbow Pack
- Longbow pattern and parts for Tights
- Power: Nullifier Rifle
Freakshow Pack
- Freak parts! Excelsior pumps, metal arms, Tank torso.
- Power: Freakshow Revive
5th Column/Council Pack
- Vampyri parts
- Wolf parts
- Paramilitary parts
- Power: Warwolf Whistle
You get the idea. For those who want to play as if they're a member or ex-member of these groups. Fill in most wanted enemy group parts here. -
I don't think that is very realistic and personally I'm not totally opposed to booster packs as they allow the developers to higher on more help. As long the free issue continue to be released along side the paid content with equal quality I just want them to make sure the booster packs are a good value for the money they charge.

Quote:That would be even better!IVe always thought that my global account should be tagged for all SGs that my characters are high ranking enough members to give invites on that server. That way, a new character I log in can simply go to "options: SG: and join any of those SGs without any muss or fuss. Im simply inviting myself via my global.

Has anyone tried using these two together? It seems like it would be a powerful combination allowing you to layer on confusion on a large number foes putting down an impresive mag 4 confusion or just help pad out those times when AoC is recharging, but I wonder if Frenzy with its massive damage bonus and longer durration still wouldn't be a better choice if you plan to switch between Fortunata and Nightwidow.
Has anyone tried these on a Fortunata yet? Any opinions on Duplicity's usefulness or lack there of? -
Quote:I could get behind Riot Control. Really the more we talk about this the more it seems like they've already got most of what they would need for this set in terms of graphics and animations and it would just be a matter of assembling them and balancing the powers.1) I would like to repeat a suggestion made a couple of times that the set should be called "Riot Control".
2) I'll also repeat what I've said for a long time that a "natural" or "superior human" type of hero should be called "skill based". A "skill based" character can be of any Origin, from Technology to Science (Captain America has no super powers, he is merely at the "maximum of human ability) but of course Natural is the most common fit.
The thing is, unless you want to say that only Technology Origin should be allowed access to Assault Rifle, Gadgets, Traps, and Ninjitsu, I don't think you should call that "technology". The Tech Origin, to me, means technology far in advance of the current standard, and/or cybernetic implants in the character's body. Iron Man is a Technology hero, Batman is not. Neither is the Punisher or Iron Fist.
And I think things like a Glue Gun, Gas Grenades, Pepper Spray and other such things could be good examples for how a Gadget-oriented Control set would work. The idea is to create a complement for Traps, which could also be used with a martial arts/gunplay type Assault Set for Dominators. -
Quote:I see your point, natural does indeed state it is just "natural" for your character and that covers everything from being an alien to an artifical life form for whom these abilities are normal so I suppose "Normal Human without a billion dollars of armor" is more accurate but I think peopel get what we mean when we say Natural for the most part,[nerdnitpick] but I must say Positron isn't a very good example, while he does use a super suit the guy basically sweats anti-mater to power it which a non-powered Tech human couldn't do.[/nerdnitpick]What I don't get about this question is the higher-level context. Positron is a Tech-based hero and he uses Radiation. Crey Tanks are tech and they run energy, electricity, cold. The origin works with any powerset at all, and is widely used as such already.
Also, the "natural" side needs to specify "natural human". My peacebringer already has a natrual powerset that humans can't duplicate without unnatural powers of somekind. So do vampires, werewolves, faeries, etc. Natural does not mean human unless you specifically limit it as such.
That said, some more flavor added would always be nice. I agree with most of the concensus that the options would only be good. And I am also looking forward to the change to make either or both of a dark/ and/or /dark dominator. -
In The Outsiders Black Lighting's daughter Thunder got her lungs badly messed up when a super villian turned the air in them to water chemically burning them or something like that. In anycase when she was in the hospital recovering the doctor suggested she survived and would heal due to her being a meta and suggested that all meta have a baseline ability to both take and heal damage well above that of normal humans. I got the issue from the library so I can't look up the exact quote but apparently in DC anyway they just flately consider anyone who is a metahuman to be well above human norm in terms of their ability to take and recover from damage.

Quote:True but the Fortuna's are a special case not being a standard class and something of a roll hybrid.Well, Fortunata has a pbaoe confuse and a mini-nuke. Not that you have to use stealth to use them but just saying that the idea of a "stealthy" controller-type does exist and I don't mind seeing it in Dominator. Afterall, doesn't Illusion control have stealth and team stealth?
The reason, as I understand it, that illusion control has stealth is to combo with confuse since it doesn't agro allowing an illusion controler the two powers work together particularly early on when a Illusion Controler had a VERY hard time droping people quickly and frequently needed to thin out mobs when soloing until they got out of the teens.
I'm just saying if one were to add stealth to a set then we should have some sort of power or ability that takes advantage of stealth rather then just adding stealth to add stealth since that is what we have pool powers for. -
Quote:Unless you can do something from stealth though you are probablly better off just having a different power as part of your core power sets and just picking up the pool power to sneak around.Fortunata has access to "stealth". Maybe Dominator can have a stealth too to play like a Mind-control Ninja/Assassin? I would love to have access to throwing stars. I love them but I don't feel like taking them as epic powers.
There is Taser power for stun and possibly +damage. -

Quote:Just more mundane weapons I would imagine like the PPD's glue bombs vs advanced stuff like nano-filament wire. What exactly would a "normal" control set look like, was wondering?
Normal would be more like flash grenades, tear gas and the like. Mostly stuff that exists in the RW today for crowd control vs tech which would be more like stuff we wish we had today such as force fields or ultrasonics. -
Quote:Those are two really good suggestions I'd love to see as well! I want to see Zombies or Ninjas doing barberhsop!Mastermind custom pack (granted probably an expensive one):
1. Alternative pets images for example female soldiers, ninja, thugs or different zombies, robots and demons. For example using Vahz zombies or clockwork robots.
2. Special emotes for MM pets like having all of them form a band or barbershop quartet or a sports team like a basketball squad passing the ball around like the Harlem Globetrotters.
Quote:I started another thread on something I'd pay extra for. Since it would be additional money for additional "features" I thought I'd link to it here.
Call it the Marketeering Pack or some such, but I'd drop $10 to have access to my in game email (including attachments), my GFriends list, the market, and crafting from the Web or my mobile phone. Throw in access to my Global Channels for bonus points. -
Sands has a much longer lifespan in terms of usefulness when you have a power set with -defense like Broadsword. When you open with a defense lowering series of attacks Sands of Mu can be a good attack to follow up with while everything else is recharging.
However if you dont' have set that debuffs defense or you are using fast set like Katanas then I'm afraid it is just a nice assist through the lower levels when you don't have your tray filled up yet. -
Indeed you can almost never have too many options provided they properly managed/organized so people can find the ones they want.
-
If they made some natural/tech style power sets like say gadget control using things like those force bands you see certain PPD characters using to hold people or say a gun-fu or gun/sword based assault set would you be excited to play it?
I've heard complaints before that there are not natural/tech options for Dominators and personally did think about it 'cause I didn't really see how they would do one but after seeing that the PDD NPCs actually have a few natural/tech style control powers so it seems like something that might actually come to pass if people really wanted it.
So yea would this be something you would like to see in a future issue or is it just a handful of people who really want these sorts of options for Dominators?
Something like
Tech Control
Web grenades
Force Fields
Tangle Lines
Tazers
Robots
etc.etc.
Pistol Assault
GunFu
Pull out Asp quick for stun attack (drawing quickly like with fire sword)
More GunFu
Some sort of explosive
More GunFu
etc. etc.
I probably would but only if they had a decent unique powers like Plant or Elect control or were pretty solid like Fire Assault. -
Have an idea for what would make a good quality boost pack? Post it here so we can keep them all together.
The List
Melee Weapon Booster
Massive Costume Pack
Mastermind customization Pack
Marketeering Pack
Monster Pack x2
Enemy Group Pack or Packs
Elemental Theme Booster Pack
Travel Booster Pack
Apparentment Booster Pack
------------------
I'll start off:
Weapons Booster covering swords, katanas, maces, claws, axes and maybe bows.
-3 to 5 or so new weapon models for each set
-The ability to add auras to weapons (or just versions of weapons with auras already present, sheilds pretty close to this already with some of their options)
-New Weapon Animations for each set
-30 or so New costume pieces for weapon uses like belts with knives tucked into them.
-Alternate Animations for pool powers, temp powers, etc. to avoid redraw where possible (obviously dual blades is always going to suffer here): IE: Sands of Mu as a Flurry of sword strikes rather then a flurry of punches and ghost ax just as a special attack with your existing weapon much as was done with brawl.
- Weapon baced emotes like special alterante draw animations.
-Inherent Power - Weapon of Choice inherent power which gives a small 5% chance to do do extra energy damage with a weapon. (Or something an par with the origin booster rather I'm not particular here so long as it isn't another stinker like Shadowy Presence) -
Quote:That is a fallacious argument since we know these were originally developed as part of Going Rogue. Since the stripped it from an existing product it didn't actually cost them a premium to make so it in no way means they need to charge premium to make a profit. An all emote pack is clearly a specialty offering aimed at a smaller audience than the more broadly targeted super boosters. The most popular way to ensure a profit on an item with an intentionally limited audience is to charge a premium.
Comparing the Party Pack to previous boosters isn't a useful exercise as it isn't the same thing.
That said, if it's not worth the price to you, don't buy it. It isn't required.
Further you've lose credibility suggesting it isn't “a useful exercise to compare the booster packs to each other” when attempting to determine value. Clearly in the previous packs emotes were not priced at a premium which tell us that even if this content was produced specifically for this pack and marketed at a smaller audience then the other packs they did not need to place it at this high a price point. Additionally even if that was the case here it is a bad business move to make a product so nitch that you have to massively over charge for it to make a profit verses a more mass marketable thus less risky product. Bad business choices hurt the game which in turn hurt the players. If they waste time making content no one buys they'll have to make the money up somewhere else and we'll end up it indirectly. In short anyone who paid the $40 for Going Rogue has already negatively been impacted by this product.
Yes the company that runs this game is here to make a profit and we should not be hostile to that fact, however, we as consumers want a quality product for our money and have no desire to be ripped off/overpay and consumers are insulted by offerings which do either. Just as we the consumers should not be hostile to game being run as a business enterprise designed to make a profit both they and you should not be hostile to consumers for seeking value and consitency from the enterprise they have done business with. -
Quote:Thank you good you to say so, it is in fact a new banner. We came up with it last month but I only added it here today.Oh, and nice Cwen's Quest banner. Is that a new one? i don't recall seeing it before.
----------
Just a recap from the last thread on the price break down if we assume emotes are worth 1 dollar each:
Martial Arts
5 Head pieces
3 Hats
9 Helmet Pieces
9 Upper body pieces
5 Robe pieces
3 Emblems
9 Lower Body Pieces
3 Weapons
1 Inherent Bonus Power
2 Emotes
2 Costume Change Emotes
That is 51 items which comes out to less then .20 cents a feature over all.
According to the party pack though the value break down must be something like
2 - Emotes $2 or $1 each
2 - Costume change Emotes $2 or $1 each
46 - Costume pieces $5 or $0.11 each
1 - Inherent Power $0.99
In which case I hope this means the next pack will just be 46 costume pieces and 1 power for 5.99, that would be an amazing deal and one I would be praise loudly as I did with GR.
And it only looks worse if you check out the Magic pack break down.
5 Emotes
4 Costume change Emotes
60 Costume Parts
1 Inherent Bonus Power
Total 70 items at $0.14 per item
Again if we're going by the Part Pack pricing that work out to be:
5 Emotes $5 or $1 per Emote
4 Costume Change Emotes $4 or $1 per CC Emote
60 Costume Parts 0.98 or $0.016 per costume Part
1 Inherent Bonus power $0.01 -
That sound much, much better and considerably more interesting. I'll have to get a few more character to level 50 then before the new content comes out.
-
Quote:Really? No new powers at all or enhancements to powers just a series of global upgrades? That seems...less epic then one would hope. That makes Incarnate content just sound like "super deep purple IO slots".Unless something changes from what was leaked on test, only 2 of the first 5 Incarnate slots modify powers (alpha worked as a global enhancement and one of the others added a proc effect to most attacks) and none of them exemp down at all. They aren't going to effect much of the existing content so I really can't see them as a solution to "under slotted" level 47/49 powers.
I was kind of hoping we would see something more akin to EQ's alternate advancement where it added and enhanced existing power in new and interesting ways rather then just more buffs to your stats. Of course this is the only way I would want CoH to be like EQ. -
Thanks but I'll pass.
-
No mixed feelings at all! I'm really looking forward to it. Any problems like respecing characters I see as a good problem to have.
-
Ah, I see, I see. Thank you for clearing that up.
