a way of speaking or writing that involves saying the opposite of what you really mean in order to make an unkind joke or to show that you are annoyed.
Isn't that what I did?
I don't see the relevance of what you posted ... something might've gotten lost in translation or I'm just dumb, whatever, but I don't see it.
Where did I say anything about being content with being mediocre? And why would I need ideas to make this company better? I do plenty of that at my job, I don't need it in my hobby.
Also 300-400 k subscribers? CoH didn't have that many in its best days. If we have 150k at the moment I'd be surprised.
edit: I'm gonna positive rep everyone muahahahahaa! -
Quote:This makes me want to give everyone a big warm fuzzy hug.I think you are misunderstanding. Fulmens is simply offering to match inf --> prestige conversions. Whatever inf you convert to prestige, he'll buy an equal amount of prestige for you, up to 100 million inf per time. So, if you're already buying prestige with inf, he'd just be doubling the amount of prestige you'd get for it, at no cost to you.
Details can be found here. I don't actually know if he's doing it at the moment, but it can't hurt to ask.
apparently I'm having another one of my scatterbrained fits, when it passes I'll be in touch with him.
edit: THANK YOU! -
Quote:seriously, I cant afford to pay him. everything I have in game atm is invested in this effort. I don't have any spare change that doesn't get converted to prestige. Are you taking advantage of Fulmen's offer to match prestige puchasing?
Otherwise I would have done it a while ago.<edit: unless of course I'm misunderstanding something, and that's often the case with me.>
What I *wish* I could do, is shut down all these huge sg's that I have ll over the place, and transfer the prestige to the Virtue sg.
THAT would help. -

Quote:I can argue... no, no, I don't argue... I can disagree. There. That's better... As usual, please be patient with me.Please tell me one thing that you have to farm to get, in order to be able to participate in this game at a high level? I have made more money and IO'ed more heroes by playing the game in a general way as opposed to farming. IO's aren't needed; purples and PvP Io's, not needed. Other than accolades, very few badges truly effect gameplay. Nothing required to play this game requires farming.
There is one thing that I farm for every day. It isn't IO's, or purps, or even inf.
It's Prestige. Lots of it. I need it so bad it burns. It burns hotter than the fires of the sun and hell combined.
Why do I "need" prestige? I know someone is going to ask.
I am rebuilding The Twisted Burrow on Virtue. IMHO the most wonderful place on earth.
I have to rebuild. I'm left with no other choice.
Here we go...
On Infinity: My event was griefed to the cemetery before it could even start. The server died from said griefers attacking the rest of the population. They got sick of it and left. cant hold an event without people.
I've had so many say "Ask the devs to copy it over, I'm sure they would if they knew about it"
yeah...my head is nice and flat from bashing it against THAT wall...
I have a lot of work to do. I mean A-LOT. I have been recruiting to the sg as much as I possibly can. Every one of my sg members has been absolutely wonderful and supportive towards this effort.
I farm every day.
I farm whatever is available.<NON EXPLOIT FARMING> Mainly radio missions in peregrine. I'm usually running a team of 8 all sg members all in sg mode. I'm doing all I can but for some reason the ideas that I have and the math I'm working with is saying "Its not enough... get more... you are running out of time!"
Am I obsessed?
You bet! With good reason too!
Ideas hurt. They hurt when you cant make them happen. My hide and seek event, My "IDEA" all that work I put into it...was reduced to nothing. I have to start over. I wont lie. That hurts. It hurts bad every time I think about it. I'm sure my enemies are laughing at me for admitting that. This must make them gleeful, thinking they got the better of me.
I wont stop. I wont give up. I know I can make this happen. I have a purpose here, otherwise fate wouldn't have thrown me back into the game after canceling my account so many times. Fate won't let me leave.
To rebuild:
I've got the time <even though the voices tell me I don't>
I've got the skill, oh boy do I have plenty of that.
The one thing I don't have, Is prestige. and I NEED to FARM for THAT.
I am recruiting BTW. -
there are only two types of players in this game.
selfish
and
generous
being generous is fun! -
Quote:sounds more like you are more against the marketeers, flip-floppers and exploiters. We have that in common!I have to agree with you that RP'ers or just plan gamers tend to make the game more fun.
Power Gamers on the other hand, and in my humble opinion, seem to make the game worse for everyone around them.
Just look at the situation with Wentworths and the Black Market. Because of Power Gamers farming everything in there attempt to "Make The Most Awesome Character On The SERVER And Anywhere Else For That Matter", we have amazingly high prices for many of the common salvages. I have no problem with their farming in general, but it makes the rest of our efforts to get a decent toon that is fun to play very difficult.
Oh it is possible and I have several very fun toons, but it is a lot more difficult thanks to Power Gamers.
powergamers don't exactly fall into that category, I should know. I am a powergamer. Far too often I have seen the prices of common salvage skyrocket.
Ever see those skyrocketed prices suddenly drop like a rock?
That... is MY fault.
I sell all my common salvage for 1 inf. The tickets I get, I use to fill up the salvage racks in our base. It makes life alot easier for sg members... who also non powergamers, from me the also get tons of inf so they can afford shineys.
After sg members are fed, the leftover inf I get from selling recipes <undercut ftw> gets converted to prestige. <That labyrinth is expensive!>

I am Mr. H
Powergamer extraordinaire. -
I blame the RP'ers for making Virtue so friggin awesome!
Proud to call it my new home!
I'm recreating The Twisted Burrow.
The event will be epic! -
Quote:I hope you come back! You know Dr. Aeon, it's interesting that you're preaching patience when you know full well (or should know as an employee) that time isn't a luxury PS/CoX can afford. I know where to find NCSoft quarterly reports and what to look for when it comes to CoX revenue. I'm sorry but I couldn't help myself. This is part of what I do for a living. In anycase, since the introduction of AE in April of last year, CoX sales revenue all the sudden plummeted 40% (compared to a 43% revenue decline in a rolling 12 month period ending in Q4 2009). Basically, during the course of Q1 2009, CoX revenue went down 3% which can be attributed to the natural decline of most aging MMOs. Then came AE in Q2 in the final two quarters of 2009, revenue fell off a cliff and dropped 40%.
Next let's look at the chronology of AE itself. The first 2-3 months after the introduction of AE, there was no doubt that it was wildly popular and widely utilized. Everyone and their extended family were crammed into the AE buildings in AP or Mercy/Cap. That kind of player interest couldn't have been bad from the revenue standpoint and the fact that revenue only dropped 3% from Q1 to Q2 of last year seems to reflect just that. Then came the fine-tuning or nerfs to be more blunt. In chronological progression, ticket cap, custom critter exp, MM pets, and now allied NPCs, just to name a few of the big ones. If you log on during peak hours right now, the players in Mercy and Cap AE buildings are a mere small fraction of where it was a year ago. Going back to the revenue decline in 2009, you can't honestly tell me that these two trends had no correlation. The fact is that drastic and persistent nerfing of popular (and maybe even integral) features in a MMO can contribute significantly to the eventual demise of the game itself. After all it has already happened several times in the short history of MMORPGs. Two prominent examples would be SWG and more recently, Tabula Rasa.
Now let us consider the obvious fact that PS is not exactly flush with subscribers and rolling in dough (at least compared to years before). It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the bigwigs at NCSoft corporate have already expressed their concern over the steep decline in CoX revenue last year. After all in the corporate world, if a product line suddenly loses 40% of sales revenue in a matter of months, it usually gets discontinued. NCSoft may be willing to deal with it for now given that the overall company profitability skyrocketed last year due to the popularity of AION in Asia but how long is it going to last? What if GR doesn't generate as much revenue as desired? That projection isn't all that far fetched given the short term memory nature of the MMO population, ample competition and the fact that CoX is an aging game. This is not to mention that patience isn't exactly a virtue in the world dominated by corporate balance sheets.
With all of this in mind, I am simply shocked that you guys haven't switched to a more conservative approach when it comes to AE fine-tuning. The nerf now and deal with it later approach as exhibited by this latest episode is extremely shortsighted and irrational. It's almost as if PS is willing to alienate some player now while banking on GR to inject fresh blood later but that scenerio is far from a guarantee. Regardless of what the "good riddance, let them leave" or "we don't need players like that anyways" crowd is saying, CoX is currently not on a solid enough footing to be able to afford the hemorrhaging of even more subscribers (revenue).
P.S: If you dislike my bluntness and challenging tone, feel free to put a temporary or even permanent ban on me. If that is to be a consequence of me saying what needs to said, so be it. My main account was already canceled prior to all of this and this account only has about two weeks left. However, allow me to say this one final thing. The reason I canceled originally was due to a perfect storm of busier real life schedule, low CoV population and other diversions. It was not the result of some ragequit over any particular prior issue. However, now that I've seen the way this particular nerf was handled and the continuation of collective tunnel vision on the part of PS, I doubt I would've renewed anyways. Good luck.
Reading this from a business prospective, I cant agree with it enough. I just wish there was a more gentle way of saying these things. I have a suggestion to make, Ive got little time, I'm trying to choose my words as carefully as I can, And I apologize for the wall of text. -please be patient with me.
My suggestion: Other MMO's <after completing missions> give rewards to players that are often a "choice of uber loot" I'm suggesting that COX learn from this. Merits aren't cutting it for casual players. This mechanic wont fix everything, I'm not saying it will, I AM saying that it will make things BETTER. Better means more customers sticking around though times like these.
example: I just completed the entire Harvey Maylor arc, and now I have a choice of recipes that are appropriate to my current level. Even the rare healing procs are available to choose from.
That's as good of an example as I can give.
It would inspire people to play the dev created content to easily slot their builds, it would also bring down alot of the prices on many things.
Another solution is to take another look at merits. If regular merits dropped similar to Vanguard merits, that might be an even better solution.
On a wing and a prayer, I hope that message reaches the right people in time...
Godspeed my good devs. -
Quote:So i assume they changed this against the self-rezzing mobs in AE? Why just not remove the power from AE itself? Less impact then this 'fix'. (im running in Bricks atm, i see Freaks a bit too often atm).
They will figure something out. Guess we will just have to be patient. -

This seems a bit heavy handed and really needs another look.I've /bugged this yesterday, Freakshow is abusing this feature. If they died on a ledge or halfway in a wall, they wont play the animation and (if u are melee) hit you before you can even hit them.
I've already been killed twice by a freakshow boss, who rezzed and instantly wacked me. -
Finally, closure.
Thanks for the linky and thanks to Aeon for the post.
Patience. -
Pay attention to Flameshot.
Do something quickly before a playerbase meltdown occurs. -
Getting on test, I'm in no rush, for it will be there in all its glory.
Downloading and installing the test server- 775786:35:56 remaining

Its Tempus Vernum everyone!
Beware of Vehemens Tempestas! -
Yaaaaawn....
Good morning everyone! Such a lovely pollen filled spring day!
any thoughts/ reflexions as to why downloading test is er... slow...ish? -
I love reactivation weekend.
The problem that was found with decorating doorways was having the ability to move things, delete the doorway and then you would have a "hidden item behind a wall" result. The problem with this is it made it possible to "relocate your base entrance...outside of your actual base" meaning someone could literally load into your base... and fall... and fall... and fall... and fall... and fall... and.. you get the idea. Oh yeah, it was also VERY difficult to un-break that once it was done; Meaning getting the entrance to you base to work right was difficult if not impossible... so unfortunately <or fortunately if you see it that way> no decorating doorways.
The only thing I can see that the devs could do to appease the editors right now would have to be something simple, a few simple objects that could be used for floors, walls, ceilings... that would be just adding a few objects to the editor. A simple quick easy fix that would make people happy. For a quick fix that's pretty much all they could do. <well, I SAY Quick and easy...I know a good bit about animation/modeling programs so really, adding even simple objects...isn't as quick or simple as it sounds>
Anything more than those "simple objects" would require a huge revamp to the base editor and its apparent that the devs are simply too busy with other things to bother with major editing overhauls.
It would be nice at least, to HEAR from them regarding bases. A simple "We hear you, we cant work on it right now, but WE HEAR YOU" would do so much right now.
I would love to hear from them, I would re-sub If I did. We all want more base shiny. -
maybe you should know this:
5 people in my neighborhood are disgusted with the trial version. I've tried getting them interested, but they all complained that there was this huge "buy it now" window that wouldn't allow them to see what was killing them over and over again.
might want to look into that. -
I'll be back if there is word of new base development.
Till then, best wishes!
Mr. H -
please forgive if this has already been posted;
Will we be getting new base editing tools or features with GR, or maybe after GR? -
I consider myself at least partially guilty because one of the reasons those characters were made was to bait those types of players, so I have some responsibility for the blow ups.
M_B is right, it's not my place to teach them a lesson
It's easy to justify your actions to yourself, but when shown in the light of public opinion they look like excuses for acting petty.
Lessons I have learned as well. -
I cant believe this! some rude rude RUDE person kept following me around yesterday and I kept getting hit with this double xp ray. It made my level skyrocket to 50 in just 12 minutes, no matter what I killed, It just leveled me, I still cant believe how rude and thoughtless someone could be to use that power on me. Its so aggrivate to me that everywhere I go someone wants to touch the hem of my garment and it just pisses me off! The only thing worse than that is when someone puts ice sheilds on me during a costume contest, I mean come on! Whomp whomp whompwhomp whomp... whomp whomp whomp...
