Yay!
So I'm in the running! Cool.

I'm extremely chuffed to have Storming Citadel nominated, but it won the 1-mission category in the March 2009 Player's Choice Awards, so is it still eligible? Aren't previous winners disallowed?

Quote:one of his guildmates did try the trial. I gave him 200k to get started, and offered him whatever help he needed. He spent about 4 hrs playing total, said almost nothing in chat, and I haven't seen him since. The first part of that should be fine then - nothing radical there
However rather than never speaking to then he needs to educate them as to how much superior CoH is

Quote:Am I the only one who immediately thought 'Benny Hill Booster Pack' upon reading that?3 minutes being chased around a room by Valkyrie in God Mode and being chased in turn by a pack of zombies, like something out of Benny Hill (thankfully the zombies weren't wearing scanty nurses outfits and suspenders though).

Quote:Are there repeatable missions you could get and just do over and over at a low enough level?I am fairly sure that getting higher tiers of contacts requires you to have a higher security level, which in turn requires training, so I guess at least the 'no training' question is out.

This is an utterly retarded idea, I've no intention of doing it lol.
I think that theoretically it would be possible to get to lvl 50 without ever fighting anything, by just dropping missions. Not training along the way is just an added nonsense, I guess. Does anyone with more of a grasp of XP misdion complete bonuses etc have an idea of how long this would take, if the game continued to be playable indefinitely?

A friend has recently started playing CoH, and we've been using Skype to chat whilst playing. He also plays WoW, and his guild there uses Ventrillo and Teamspeak. He's been experiencing the following problem:
He can log in to CoH and play with no problems, but after he's ingame and he starts up Skype, the next time he zones, he gets a 'cannot connect to db server' message and is booted out. This seems to happen if he's been chatting on Vent with his WoW-mates in between CoH sessions.
If he doesn't start Skype up, CoH runs fine.
Any advice would be appreciated. I've suggested he uninstalls WoW and all connected software and never speaks to any of his WoW-friends again, but he's expressed that he'd prefer a less radical solution

EDIT: SOLVED. SEE LAST POST IN THREAD. -
I've eased off from my initial obsession with the AE over the last few months, but arcs from WN, Policewoman, Fred, Clave, and Rose's Wizard of Oz arc have all been revisited multiple times. DtD, Celebrity Kidnapping and Fred's lowest VEAT arc used to be standard fare for any toon on days when I found myself at a loose end for an hour.

Quote:Hell yes!All that is left is to found the CoH Nation with President Steelclaw residing. Alt-O-Holic Rhapsody is the national anthem.
You have done a lot of crazy things here but this tops it all. I LOVED it!
And don't sell yourself short. I have heard worse singers on every episode of Idol. Hmm. That doesn't say much does it?
Now to have Samuraiko make a video of that song..

There is no language yet built that can adequately explain how cool you are dude
Please don't ever leave this game, eh?

Im trying to sort out Skype for conference calling with my team whilst playing the game.
The problem im having is that when i have my in game volumesettings set to maximum, if i use the volume dial on my logitech G11 keyboard to lower the sound to an acceptable level, it stays real loud until the dial's almost to nil, ant then suddenyl shoots down to silnece. There isnt a consistent range.
Its the same wheh i use the ingame vilume sliders too. They'll stay at an stupid level until like 10%, and then within the range of 10%-3% go from full volume to silent.
It's quite annoying.
Can anyone give me some advice?
Eco. -
Thanks for all the advice, all.
i think we'll go with skype for the time being and see how that goes.

Thanks v much, MB, but it looks a bit too complicated for me, with allthe command prompt stuff for setting up a server etc. Is there a simpler one than vent?

I am in a small SG with 3 other Players. We'd like to set up some sort of VoIP system so we can cgat while we play. I know nothing about how do do this. Can someone point me to a simple source of info on how to do this? Is vent the best way to go aboit it?

Quote:Wonderful. Someone in the Player help forum also helped out with the URLs. What a nice community we have here.https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/St...em&item_id=206 Should be the version you're after
Thanks very much, Kallandra.

Well here is the link to the US version:
CoH GR Complete Collection (item_id=209) [European version is 211]
For just the expansion, change the item_id in the URL to 205. Item Pack is 213.
If worse comes to worse, maybe you can wire some money to somebody you trust in the states to buy you a copy locally and e-mail you the code. lol
I hope you (and/or your friend) gets it worked out.
Wow, thanks v much, great help. My friend has decided to get the complete colection edition, but I'll p[as on these in case she wants to go for them.
Cheers once again.

I've posted in the Player Help section too, but I thought i'd ask the Europeans as well: Does anyone know how to get the NA GR expansion via the NCSoft store from a European geographical location? My friend wants to play but the store's just showing her the EU version.
Eco.
EDIT: We both play on the US servers, is why I'm asking. -
Hi,
My SG-mate is trying to buy GR. She has an NA account, as do I, but we live in Europe.
The NCSoft store is detecting her locale and offering her only the EU versio of GR.
If she buys it as a digital DL, will her NA account be recognised as I believe the micro-purchase packs are now?

I'm playing thru the Praetorian arcs with my first toon, and I've chosen to take the Warden Resistance path. I've totally avoided any Crrusader contacts, and not done any Loyalist stuff at all.
I got to Penelope Yin without any beef with the narrative, but during her arc I was a bit perplexed to see someone called Metronome being mentioned as though my character had heard of him. I hadn't been fed any narrative prior to that about Metronome, but I assume that other paths may offer up the 'missing' backstory.
In the Paragon Clockwork arcs, as I recall, first the PC gets to investigate strange robots who are stealing supplies, then slowly we learn that they are apparently psychically controlled somehow, and eventually the truth about the CK is revealed.
I just finished Yin's arc (cool final mission), and now Dark Warden is talking to me about getting Longbow on 'our' side. prior to this, the sole glimpse of LB I've had is seeing them fighting in one outdoor mission (the one to go speak to Noble Savage's ex-partner), and they weren't an objective, they were just referenced as 'some new form of terrorist?' or something. My character, i thought, had no idea who LB were. Dark Watcher is also rabbiting on about primal Earth as though I already know there is one. is it common knowledge in Praetoria that there is an alternate Earth? I thought it wasn't.

Quote:I use my info box to write the origin of my characters. |I view it as akin to the little boxout that used toi appear in the first panel of every Marvel comic, 'Bitten by a radioactive spider, college student Peter Parker now uses the proportional strength and agility of a spider and his astonishing ability to stick to walls to fight crime.' and suchlike. And that is one of the biggest reasons I don't believe in putting backstory in the info tab. First off, it sort of ruins the surprise, and secondly, I don't want anyone to ever have any excuse for that sort of behavior. My "info" describes what you see when you look at the character aside from what the toon looks like - some extra information the toon can't convey, such as age, a sly smile, or a dry, husky voice.
I leave backstory for people who can RP with me, and who my character trusts enough to share that information. And it frustrates the god-moders to no end.

I've always thought that the ATs were given to us in the game storyline as part of our |Hero Registration and/or Threat classification. Without going into details, 'someone' in an office somewhere says 'Hm, who've we got next...Ah, Indefatigable Man, and his powers are...ok, he's a Blaster. Next.' or similar.
Dimbulb in the OP could have RPed access to some sort of database that would have Angst-RiddenDemonHeroBoy listed as Stalker, and then said sth about all the other times he'd met Stalkers and they'd stuck katanas up his bottom from their hidign places in the shadows of BB or sth.
But he didn't. Which is bad RPing and he should feel bad.
