  1. I'd like to get to the softcap using 1 parry... what would the optimal attack chain be and what sort of recharge requirements would I need? (If there's a "pretty good" chain out there for less recharge I'd love to know as well"

    also, potential builds are welcome
  2. So you can successfully use it for farming?
  3. My Fire/SR was supposed to be a sort of all-arounder. I tried just for fun to get a lot of damage bonuses and managed to snag 30% buff. He runs without hasten and uses the Gloom-->Incinerate-->Scorch-->Cremate-->Scorch for some pretty impressive DPS, and running that chain should never run out of endurance.

  4. While I'm here I have one more question.

What sort of difficulty level could a Fire/SR run at with Aid Self?
  5. Whoops, I messed up my rounding for the Arcanatime, the end result being that the chain is worth more like 180 DPS with gloom at 75% fury, and I could run it for about 24 minutes without running out of endurance.
  6. I'm no math expert, but by the numbers I got, at 0 percent fury Gloom added about 4 DPS, which obviously would increase significantly as fury increased.

Also, for my build using G-I-S-C-S i got around 190 DPS at 75% fury, which seems awfully high. I adjusted for arcanatime, but every attack has at least 90% enhancement and I have around 30% global damage buffage, so that might have something to do with it. As of now I can run the chain for 8 minutes and 20 seconds without running dry on endurance, and when I get low, I can drop gloom out of the equation for 8 minutes and 20 seconds and be back to a full end bar.

As long as my math isn't wrong, this should be downright lovely.
  7. I'll make it brief: the low recharge FM attack chain:

    Incinerate-->Scorch-->Cremate-->Scorch

Does it have enough DPS to take down an AV?

(I know this is the scrapper forum, but the brute numbers are similar enough that I think it's fine either way)

Also, if I threw a Gloom in before incinerate would the DPS increase be enough to outweigh the additional end use?
  8. Actually, Umbral, for Stalkers it would appear that Dark Blast IS worth taking... (Were you maybe looking at Scrapper numbers?)

    Smite/Dark Blast
    Recharge 6s/6s
    End 6.86/6.5
    Cast .97s/1s
    Damage 80.7/111.2

So unless I'm missing something, Dark Blast is significantly better, and is closer to SL for damage.

Which of course leads me to another question:

Is MG/DB/SL/DB better than working in a Smite or two? (it would sure save some slots)

Also, I feel like due to the animation time, something like MG/DB/S/DB/S would be higher damage than a chain with SL, but I'm not sure. Anyone wanna scope this out a bit?
  9. Thanks for the quick reply, man. Looking forward to leveling this sucker.
  10. So anyway, I'm looking to try something new, and I was hoping for some general advice and maybe some loose builds.

The rub (you knew there would be one) is that I was kind of hoping to do a Stalker. I know this is the scrapper forum, but I trust you guys the most.

I'd like to be a strong (AV soloing) single target damager
As a DM stalker, I know I'll have 0 AoE

    A couple basic questions:
    Is dark blast worth taking?
I can easily get max HP without DP... should I still take it?
What sort of defense numbers should I shoot for?
Is Shadow meld worth taking, or would I be better off dropping GW and taking Levi for Water Spout?
What sort of recharge should I shoot for?

Again, any builds and advice would be appreciated
  11. Thanks, I just noticed that. Not used to dealing with hero accolades as opposed to villains, so I forgot which ones to turn on
  12. I was trying to do this (to elemental damage only) as cheaply as possible, and I managed to get it without HOs or PvP IOs, but my end use seems a little high. Can anyone try to improve on this while still staying relatively low cost? (The Numina, Miracle, and Regenerative Tissue aren't a problem, already got 'em) Thanks in advance

I dont like DM cause I actually like... hitting my opponent.

there are only 3 techniques in DM that animate a strike of any sort, iirc
My theory is that DM gives up its ability to look cool in exchange for being awesome at killing people.
  14. I sort of forgot to mention I almost always solo, except for TFs and Raids and AP Sewers. So usually I'm facing smaller groups. But thank you all for your responses and for giving me things to think about. Now that I'm DO range, I'm greatly enjoying a Katana/WP, which I know is super popular, but I came up with his concept about a year ago, so yeah.
  15. Haha, that always seems to happen to me, Fury Flechette. I pick what seems like a cool combo, and then BAM! FOTM like a week later and I seem lame...
  16. Thank you guys for your input. I settled on Katana/WP as I had a better fitting concept for it. I know it's a common combo and I've seen it mentioned many times on the forums, but I really have a quick question: With A Kat/WP is Stamina+QR+PP overkill and would I be better off taking the Fire APP, or should I skip Stamina and go with body and have an extra normal power pool available?
  17. How does it compare to Kat/regen or Kat/WP?
  18. Well, crap, now everyone thinks I'm hardcore Min/Maxer. I probably shouldn't have mentioned that in my OP, because everyone is misconstruing my meaning. I don't try to be a game breaker, and I don't only choose FOTM power combos. I play through the game for fun, and yes I "play" it by Alt_oholic's definition, and I'm not gonna start on argument on whether PLing and Farming count as "playing" because that's been overargued countless times. So just go ahead and ignore that part of the statement. I'd edit it out if possible.

Also, fallenz, would you happen to have a Softcap Inv. build you'd be willing to show me?

Oh, hooray, the editing window was still open.
  19. Alt_oholic:

I think you're reading too much into what I meant. When I said "a bit of a min/maxer" that doesn't mean I don't play the game. I don't farm, I don't PL, and I only make characters based on concepts that I like. However, with power customization, basically any punchy colorful powerset can look like just about anything, so I was just trying to get an idea how other sets compare to DM. I'm writing this thread because I DON"T want to just play the same set, and I WANT to try something new. So before you start passing judgment as you so clearly are, it would be nice if you thought about what I'm writing and why I'm most likely writing it. But I respect your opinion anyway.
  20. Also, another quick question. On the surface, DB and Claws seem to be related in the way that Kat and BS are. (Light and fast vs. slower and heavier) How do the two sets compare in game? (Not much experience with high levels of either)
  21. If Katana could be used with SD, I'd be much more inclined to use it. I just have a hard time using BS due to its general slowness/end heaviness. So tell me, what would be better, a Kat/Regen or a Kat/WP (For scrappers) Right now I have a claws/WP and a Kat/Regen, and I'm wondering if I'd enjoy them more if they were switched around.
  22. I just sort of hate the feeling of looking at my HP go into the red and knowing I can't do anything about it besides soldier on and hope...
  23. Thanks for some ideas. To be honest, I'm generally more of a Brute player, so while I'll try Kat/WP and MA/DA on scrappers, I've played a lot of SR (including with dm), and I'm not sure if claws is better for brutes or scrappers. Any other ideas?
  24. That's why I'm posting this. I'm having a hard time finding a set which feels so perfect...
I really like fire, but its general lack of utility bums me out a little bit.
I like the speed and lightness of claws, but it just doesn't grab me as much.
Overall, the lack of a heal might be the biggest thing that kills my enjoyment, especially with secondaries without one. (and I generally don't have room for Aid Self)
