Aye. Can't wait for all you deviants to transfer here so we can get some PVP to RV

If you pay for the transfer... tomorrow -

But I would like to see a real Arena - not just terminals with random maps, but an acutal, genuine arena, with seating/standing areas for spectators, behind glass walls like at a hockey rink.
The arena floor itself would be movable - for example, you could select an empty arena with no cover, or select a multi-level environment, so parts of the floor would rise and lower, or an environment with stacks of crates as cover, or an environment with pillars as cover, which would rise up from the floor or be lowered down from the roof.
[/ QUOTE ]
They could widen a bit the monkey cage map for that...
Foscko pointed me out this event last night... wow, sounds great... I'll be surely there!
Just in case, I know a bit of french, maybe I can help translating... -

All that said, I think the best option for increasing PvP populations remains making the PvP zones cross-server, and I think that'd be well worth the dev time to do. (Which would probably not work in the US, 'cause it'd put too many players in one zone! They'd have to put the servers into PvP groups for this.)
[/ QUOTE ]
totally agree here... -
I am not a hard PvPer, but I don't like much this idea, as I usually do PvP with nearly all my toons.
I have 75% of probability that the official/unofficial PvP server won't be defiant (on which i have all my main toons).
No way I'm going to spend money to transfer my chars especially as I am currently an SG leader and this makes me bound to Defiant (I got friends and a bit of responsibility).
Nonetheless, I like HOW the US poll has been set up, I'd like to see the same poll here.
But, to be honest, I am really looking forward to that "server-less" environment Bridger mentioned some week ago when announcing character transfer/rename. Especially if server-less implies PvP zones and arenas.
I really like to have more information on that. -
Your build is really like that of my blaster.
At the moment I don't have BFR, but I'm gonna try to take it if the buff they gave to the animation time really deserves it.
In any case, Aim and Build Up would really like to be slotted ALSO with 3 ToHit... or else you can put just 3 HOs Rechargered/Tohit buff (don't remember their name).
Agree that hasten can be switched with BFR.
Stimulant: ABSOLUTELY IntRdx if you want to use it in pvp (better even 2 or 3 IntRdx).
Ice Attacks are better slotted with 2acc 3dmg 1slow (slow optional) for ice bolt/ice blast and 2acc 3dmg 1rchg for BIB. Ice sword can stay 2acc 3dmg as you will use it once in a while to give the coup de grace (your ranged chain is really fast and hard).
Some sets can be used there also but I still haven't planned them. SO are enough for all, IOs for acc/slow/rchg if you have inf to spend.
Snow Storm likes slow enhs so does Shiver.
Swift's overslotted if you put run enhs in Super Speed. Nonetheless I'd go with Swift because YOU suffer from slow and -jump (incredible isn't it?) and you'd better have some way to get out of the slowing range (swift + ss works fairly well, i never got the grasp of hurdle + sj)
I don't remember all sets bonuses, but ice blaster's weak points are (in no particular order):
- endurance use (especially when using snow storm)
- recharge (the ranged chain is "short", you should have it up again really fast so you don't have "blank times")
- mez resistance (well, blaster achille's heel)
- defense (power mastery on you would not be effective as on an /nrg blaster)
- accuracy is fairly good except against those in personal force field or the likes.
so I would suggest checking sets that give you some bonus there. -

I'm upping an old thread, but some ideas on Containment would be much appreciated here.
I have just rolled out a fire/rad controller and seen a bit of containment at work, though I'm curious about some aspects.
Imagine I immobilize a mob. A subsequent application of the same power benefits from containment? I need ideas especially with DoTs damage.
I have observed that the second ring of fire on a same mob seems to spawn the "double damage indicator". Or is it just the damage from the first plus the damage from the second? Do a third application of the same power (if imm/hold/... duration is enough) means I can have two powers doubling their damage plus the firs application?
Or does containment work only if you apply a DIFFERENT power than the one creating the status?
Second: in pvp containment works the same? This means a Clear Mind or other mez protection or even a Combat Jumping against Immobilize will make useless the containment until these buffs are removed? -
I thank also all the participants. My first Hami raid ever resulted (for me) in NO DEATH at ALL!
And I did not play coward all the time, as an Ice Blaster I was in the fray in the hold phase (spammed even a bitter ice blast a couple times...).
I can say a big "GOOD JOB" to the captain, and even to (don't remember her name) that picked up the role of "targeter" when Odin Son crashed.
And... guess what... I HAD NO LAG AT ALL during the entire raid!
Another big thanks and a cheer to all the heroes... -
Nice, interesting...
My 50 blaster (Cold Stone) is really interested in Synapse and Syster Psyche (he's missing Numina also).
20:00 uk time (will be 21:00 for me)? Not really sure if I'll be there, but I'll keep an eye on this thread and tell if I will be there or not.
Please, make a list of people that will be there for each TF so that we can check if there will be place available.
Interested just in finishing the TF or also in for the xp?
My contacts are in my signature. -
pardon my noobiness...
i already did the respec some time ago. I'm in need of a respec on my 50, can I do it again and get the respec? -
Please, add also this one:
Cold Stone, Ice Blast/Ice Manipulation/Cold Mastery blaster -

ps. I cant think of much that could have been done to stop us really.. so thumbs up for good fight. Debuff nukes seemed really good in taking down those generators.. I was really surprised how fast they went down.

Sadly I wasn't in the fray, I came back from work at 22.15 (GMT +1 of course)... afaik, just 6 minutes later after the end of it all...
Reading my friends' resume of the defeat, I had a couple of ideas to counter the tactic, though...
Congratulations to the winners, then. -
Quoting Supertramp here:

Yeah, IP were "schiacciati" (for those looking for an Italian Word for pwnd).
Though such a lesson hasn't gone unlearned and, as we say... "la vendetta รจ un piatto che va gustato freddo..." (I'll let you figure out the translation) -

You play a ranged-only ice/ice blaster? What a shame! With Ice Patch, Chilling Embrace, Shiver, and Freezing Touch, you will be quite safe, and Ice Sword does almost as much damage as Bitter Ice Blast. Try it sometime.
[/ QUOTE ]
hm. will be worth a try on teest server... Then I'll probably need a respec... -

Attacks are shorter range than other power sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure what you're referring to: Bitter Ice Blast does have a shorter range than some other attacks, but not Ice Bolt or Ice Blast. Depends on what you're comparing it to.
[/ QUOTE ]
When teaming with other blasters (electrical and assault rifle mainly) I felt like I had to stand closer to the target than they. I felt like I received "out of range" when insted they could shoot.

Damage is a little bit lower than other power lines. Frost Breath is a power that probably must be taken in any case and I don't find it so useful; alternatives to FB are the two melee powers (frozen fists / ice sword) I didn't choose and never tried them.
[/ QUOTE ]
AoE damage? Certainly. Which is why you probably do want FB which does decent damage when fully slotted. As Chill says, you should at least consider Ice Sword since you will be in melee quite often.
[/ QUOTE ]
Melee range it's not my style...

Most people say an ice/ice is an incomplete controller... well could be. And this is not necessarily a bad point for a blaster. If you don't mind playing more on the tactic instead of the shooting side.
[/ QUOTE ]
You do sacrifice some AoE damage (and a snipe, which is not a great loss imho) for lots of control, but that extra control helps your survivability (which is why ice/ice works nicely if you tend to solo a bit, and I'm surprised you have problems soloing), so it does depend on your playstyle .
[/ QUOTE ]
Newbie-ness could also be the problem then... -
as a matter of fact I do have an ice/ice blaster (if anybody wanders for Defiant server, he's Cold Stone at the moment standing at level 38).
I quite like him (and all my SG mates do the same), though it's my really first char and I chose powers more on a "i feel like" idea than looking at statistics and the likes. Nonetheless it's a good blaster for teaming if you don't mind acting a little bit as a controller debuffing speed and recharge instead of going for the damage. Solo is quite difficult. And I can't say much about PVP cause I did only a few of it.
Strong points: freeze ray and bitter freeze ray: you can hold much people there, ice patch (entertaining seeing enemies slipping there while you gently take them down, though is PBAoE and has small radius, nice tactics could be done with that), chilling embrace and shiver slow *so* much mobs. Blizzard is probably the only last primary power (together with rain of arrows) that is a target AoE instead of PBAoE.
Weak points: no snipe. Attacks are shorter range than other power sets. Bitter freeze ray has a painfully long animation (not interruptible luckily). Damage is a little bit lower than other power lines. Frost Breath is a power that probably must be taken in any case and I don't find it so useful; alternatives to FB are the two melee powers (frozen fists / ice sword) I didn't choose and never tried them.
