  1. Maybe have the final "clue" lead the player to the next arc...

or you could even have this allow you to branch a story arc

    example:

    "Well you have recovered one half of the talisman of Doooooom, the defeated Silver Mantis mentioned as she was being led out by Longbow that the second half was located in an Arachnos base on Port Oaks......obviously a trap! Do you;

    a) Walk into the trap, you never know, you might get lucky.... Arc #2846

    b) Take this fight to the source, hunt down Black Scorpion in Grandville and take him by surprise!....Arc #2946

Kinda like those "choose your own adventure" books I used to read as a kid (maybe I just dated myself hehe)
  2. So I was playing around with the custom critters in the MA trying to piece together a well balanced group to represent our SG. I made some mobs, tested them on my Brute and while they weren't perfect (like my Medic DB/Pain set to ranged, running in to melee and hardly ever using /Pain), they were shaping up nicely. Got tired and went to bed....

Logged in my Dom the next day and tested them again just to remember where I was at. Held a minion with AR powerset....and he kept shooting me. My Dom is Plant/ so I could easily tell that the minion was held. Now I can understand giving an Elite Boss or AV these powers, even Bosses....but a minion? How are we to make custom mobs that are fair to all levels and ATs when they can completely overrule something as basic as a hold? I looked under the power selection screen and saw that under Blaster AND Corrupter AR was checked off so I can't even select a version of that power set that wouldn't have that inherant.....help pls!

I have a club.....somehow. I killed someones dog with it. I cried a bit on the inside...
  4. So my head is bubbling over with ideas, as I am sure everyone else is too! One of my ideas involves exploring an abandoned base whose defenses are still active! Will gun turrets be available as placable mobs? Both the pop up kind as well as the larger ones? What about proximity bombs?

In the lgtf there is a map with "defeated" mobs lying about near the door....will that be an option? Would be a nice story telling flavor!
  5. Ok the video was hilarious.

"are we going to get exposed to any money?"

    and

    "Shift + Awesome"

I spit my afternoon coffee down my chin.....

If you don't mind me asking, what about it did you find to be smelly?

    [/ QUOTE ]

First quote from a redname! OMG, OMG I'm gonna faint!

Anway, I rolled my eyes after reading this:

    [ QUOTE ]
Matt: ThatÂ’s a great question for our senior designer, Floyd Grubb. Floyd, take it away!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    FAKE enthusiasm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What did you want? Fake outrage?

Positron: "WTF kinda question is that you idiot retard?? That question is so beneth me I'm gonna fob it off on my underling-

    ::Positron points to Castle::

    "Answer that stupid question Frank!!"

Castle: "uhm, my name is Floyd!"

::Postitron throws a pen at Castle::

Positron: "ANSWER THE STUPID QUESTION FRANK!!"

I mean, really- this was a fluff interview hopefully to get new people into the game. That's it- nothing more, nothing less.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's some funny [censored] right there, people are staring at me...<.<....*chuckle*
  7. I would love to see some techy computers (decorations, not controll items) right now all you can really use outside of control rooms are the multiple screens or a computer attached to a big platform.

I would also like to see some tech bridges, balconies and wall platforms.
  8. Hey here is one for ya...

How about Veteran Players being able to choose their Vet emblems for SG emblems? I would love to have a captured Council flag hanging in my trophy room.

Yeah, while I support any and all upgrades to the CoX game, I have to say that I am a little disappointed at the use of the "easy button" on the Hollows. I feel like too much whining (no offense) has led to the dumbing down of many cool and challenging features of this game.

My first few toons learned the value of a travel power, aggro range, the power of a team, and the falsehood of "hey, they are all my level, i can take them!!!" really quickly when i was a noobling in the Hollows.

If anything, I felt that CoV needed a similar hazard zone.

Next time a low lvl squishy runs into an 8 man spawn alone, i'll think of this change!

Have you even read the dev diary? This zone is gonna be like 10 times cooler.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course I did. More diversified but fewer mobs. Closer mission doors. More friendly mobs. A contact with repeatable missions. Easier =/= cooler in my book. Tricycle not cooler then Harley.

Overall I am overjoyed with 95% of the upcoming issue, beside myself even. Just not this 5%. Did the Hollows need some attention? Yes. Was this what it really needed? I don't think so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Although I suppose one may have qualms with the changes (I don't--I never liked the Hollows, personally), I do have to say that this was a lot of work done by a dedicated person who honestly didn't have to do it for the QoL of casual players within a timeframe and budget window that sounds like it was practically non-existent. I personally can't see how being killed in transit to your missions or having to take round-about paths or hovering to low-level missions is cool, but of course, you're allowed your opinion. It is also acknowledging that, yes, people do want to solo at low levels in the Hollows. I'll definitely check the new Hollows out when I12 hits, and I appreciate Melissa's hard work. She's my hero!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am in no way knocking anyones hard work, I think that the Devs have done and are continuing to do an amazing job. I just think that making a Hazard Zone easy because it's....hazardous, isn't what I was looking for in a change. Closer mission doors, great! More diversified mobs, awesome! Another contact, hazar! Less unfriendly mobs, more friendly mobs in a zone that is supposed to be a challenge.....not so much. I always saw the Hollows as a testing ground for what you have learned in the previous 5 - 10 levels, if you didn't learn that you can't run up to a group of 10 +2 enemies without getting trounced, well you sure would learn that there. There was a controller on my lvl 30 team yesterday who obviously skipped the Hollows.

  12. First of all, I would like to say that this seems to me to be one of the most constructive threads in the forums. Lots of player insight, and very little bickering and name calling. Props to Hexgirl for starting it and props to the devs for stickying it!!!

When CoV first came out, I was impressed that the level of story telling had dramatically improved. CoH was great fun, don't get me wrong, but some of the story arcs were.......meh. But then I rolled my first villain, and over the next couple months ran some great mission arcs that were really alot of fun, Doc Buzzsaw and Hardcase come to mind. I also ran some fun and exciting SF's (as an intro to TF/SF's, the Cap SF is a bright shining star compared to the snoozefest that is the Posi Tf). Then the 40-50 content came out and the new Arcs were even better!! (Hello TV, efficiency expert, and Viridian (my favorite on both blue and red side)) And the new SF was AWESOME!!!! Sure it was a bit borked in the way you needed certain AT's, but the Devs hearts were in the right place when they designed it.

Then came the LGTF......awesome! As well as the story arcs in the zone!

    Then came the STF......again, awesome!

Then came the new valentines mission........well you can't win them all

My big hope is that the hero TF's get the makeover that they deserve. Less fluff (generic door missions, and hunts) and more substance. I also fully suport the revamping of the end rewards (I fully support the addition of unique base item decorations), and more redside content!

Peace, and once again, great thread!
  13. There is no Pearl Charm, only ZOOL!!!
  14. Could the Dropships and bombing runs be added to the RWZ as a permenant fixture to the zone?

I think it would add greatly to the "War Zone" feel. Where better a place to find unexploded bombs then the middle of a battlefield? Imagine fighting a spawn of enemies when suddenly BOOOM!! everyone is scattered as the bombs start falling because.....well......war is hell!!!

P.S. I also tried to revive an old thread of this in the suggestion forum

  16. What is this "Health Bar" you keep talking about?

Is that near the " SMASH Bar of Happiness"?
  17. First of all, great guide!

I would just like to point out the fact that RoF is slotable with Acc enhancements. "But Mai_Tai" you might say "RoF is a constant stream of damage as is.." well let me tell you a single acc slot will do WONDERS for RoF.

Just thought I would point that out.

Oh, and you are so right about the heal Aurora, i am pretty much single handedly getting my SG's healing badges from playing on full teams most of my career...../fire eat your heart out!
