This game is about whatever you want it to be about. What does "end game content" mean in a game that has no end?

If you don't find enough to do on a level 50, make an alt. If you do, play your level 50. For me, the game is about trying new things some of the time and playing on awesome teams with my friends the rest of the time. I have 7 level 50 characters, all different. That was great for the first part, trying new things. But it's also great for the second part, playing with friends. Having so many high level characters means I nearly always have something that goes well with the team and brings something to the table. I like to do Task Forces a lot and there's no TF I can't bring a level 50 on.

If we're doing Synapse, I know my Ice/Kin Controller is a great match because I can hit everyone with Speed Boost when they may have a barely slotted Stamina and the bad guys are endurance drainers. If we do Hess or Katie Hannon, I can bring my Scrapper because she has them both unlocked. My Controller has Katie unlocked and is also great there because she has several KB protection IOs and can use Increase Density on the squishies to keep them from getting slammed to the ground so often. Etc etc.

Other people play for years and have NO level 50s because the like alts so much.

That's the reason I like this game so much. We're not forced into loot, gear, and leveling to FINALLY get to do something different/neat. You can drink the Purple Enhancement Kool Aid or pass it up. You can run missions all day or spend a day writing a mission. The game is whatever you make it.

Oh my gosh, this is my favorite new phrase. I am going to sneak into my office late at night and hang it on the walls of several people there. "I'm a just-enougher." Awesome in a video game, less awesome in a co-worker.

I just tried to be good at what I did and the numbers really were the least important aspect of being a Defender. The only number that mattered to me was the number of players still alive on my team.
  4. Hardware? Did they staple you? Did you have the BIG surgery or the laprascope? I had to have mine out a few months ago and had to reschedule a trip, too. (I think I was in surgery the day before I was supposed to get on the plane.) I can't remember how I felt one week after. I spent a lot of time on the couch. The first few days were the worst, so you should at least be on the upswing. One of the problems you'll have is the lifting restrictions. (And they are NOT kidding about that!) If you get cleared to come, make sure you have luggage with wheels and by all means, pay/beg people to lift things for you. Do NOT try and put anything in an overhead bin yourself. Hell, I had change purses to go back to work because my purse + my laptop wound up being way over the "don't lift more than..." weight the doctor warned me about.

Take care of yourself and do not mess around. It was weeks before I could sneeze without feeling like my guts were going to burst out the hole in my belly button and you do not want to leave your guts all over the coach section.

As well you should be! Win or lose, Team Snark will have the most fun trying. Or forgetting to try because we're in the bar talking about everyone else. Whichever.

If we don't get enough people to have multiple teams or combine, we can probably all be Team Barfly. But the other hotel had a neat setup with an spacious bar with no walls right in the middle of things, making people watching easy. I have no idea if this hotel has a similar setup.

    1) How specific to people expect a NEW player to be about an AT they know nothing about?
You don't have to know a lot to ask a a good question. I've found many people don't know how to ask a good question. They expect us to read their minds or get frustrated because the answers they get aren't what they expected or have nothing to do with what they actually wanted to know. (See: a zillion player question threads that have vague titles like "question" or "I need help.") Asking a good question is an art and a lot of people are challenged.

Teaching people how to ask good questions is going to server them much better than guessing what they want, giving them the wrong answer, or giving them 10 solutions to choose from and cofusing them even more because their question was too vague.

Suggest anything you want; the forums are a great place for discussing ideas. I hope you also PM a forum mod or a developer with any suggestions you put here. We're not the ones who can make changes, but if enough people communicate directly with the powers that be about the same issue, it might have an effect.

I also suggest that those of you most impacted by this start/continue a thread in a more general area of the forum, since it's not only Justice that's affected by these changes and additional changes will also impact more than those on Justice. Justice does have a lot of players from Australia, but I'm sure there are some on other servers as well. There are also players like Plas who work off hours and are spread out over all the servers. There really is strength in numbers.

I doubt the company chose their numbers at random. Whatever numbers they have, you'll have to find a way to counter and you'll do that more effectively if the affected players from all the servers work together. Or you could uncover a greater number of players who are positively impacted by the changes and why things aren't going to change. Because the one thing that's going to be true at any time is that some people are going to be negatively impacted and a very bad time for them. If you feel that your personal impact is more important that someone else's, you should consider getting together and showing that.
  14. Many happy returns of the day to both of you!

I fly out of Austin at 7AM CST Friday. It's a bit of a drive from my home to Austin (2 1/2 to 3 hours) so getting to the airport at 6 (better safe than sorry) I need to leave home around 3 AM. And of course, that requires getting up even earlier, likely around 2 AM CST.
This. Hopefully people will sleep on the planes (except the one that has like a whole SG full of CoH'ers), but otherwise they're in for a hurting on Saturday, I suspect. My plane trips are often extra-wonky though, since I'll do nearly anything to avoid the DFW airport and flying on Delta airlines. But even when I'm not the person choosing, airline routes these days often extend a trip by hours by sending you all over the country to get from one state to another. I once flew from Texas to Virginia via Minnesota and back through Michigan. Corporate travel booked that flight and it had nothing to do with my usual avoidance of DFW. Recently I went to North Carolina from Texas via Phoenix, AZ. I'll be flying from Austin directly to San Jose, but coming back I'm going through Denver. That seemed a kinder option than asking my parents to get up at 3:00 am to say goodbye to me or drive me to the airport. Airline hubs are a Nemesis plot.

Hopefully I'll be well-rested for Friday, because I fly in on Thursday and stay with my family not far from San Jose. But I'll still probably be crying for my bed by 10:00 pm. I'm only Central time, but I always feel like I'm 80 when I visit my parents in CA end up going to bed before them because it's two hours later for me.

    Get off my lawn!
  16. I should have paid more attention. I got my Warshade to level 31. I think she was somewhere around 22 on Friday.

I vote all of the above. These bacon-waffle memories are going to have to last me all year, so any reinforcement I can add is good.

GG was acting like Sam was the only person who ever defaulted to He/Him. I pointed out that it had been done for centuries to remind her that he wasn't alone. I didn't claim it was the best way, the only way, or defend it in any way. No fallacy, just a fact. Him/Her is still the common standard and Sam isn't alone in using it. That makes no claim as to whether it's good or bad, just that it is.

I suspect half the arguments in this thread are based on what people read into things, not what's actually being presented.
  19. That's too bad. Clearly she has a passion for this and I think it's wasted arguing over pronouns with people on an internet forum.

That's bad etiquette, not assuming most players are male unless being told otherwise.
I really don't care, one way or another. People can't see me through my computer screen ('cause of my tinfoil beanie), so I don't expect them to know. If they guess wrong, I usually correct them. Sometimes I don't, because it really doesn't matter if they know or not. I grew up in California in went to high school in the 80s. There were no "guys and dolls," it was "guys and dudes." People used those terms for both males and females and it didn't matter. Sometimes people used "Dudette." On the whole, I think I'd rather someone call me "him" by accident and 10-times over than ever have someone call me "dudette" again.

There aren't a lot of things to miss about the 80's.

No, I implied nothing. I said "Someone gave me..." If I wanted anyone to think I thought you did it, I'd have used your name, not a pronoun. I didn't use your name because I know it didn't come from you.

I quoted you for context because the reply I was given the rep for was in response to your post, the one I quoted.

A Defender is what you make it. If you make a team-based Empath and don't slot your blasts, don't cry about not being a Blaster. Some are more difficult to solo than others, but much of that depends on the character level, powers chosen, and slotting. You can choose create more of a support build or more of an offensive build. My Empath is a team defense build and slow to solo, my Dark is an offensive build and solos very well. With the dual-build option, you can even be both on one character.

And that Blaster, no matter how hard he tries, will never be able to res 4 teammates at once. Talk about feeling heroic.

If you think a Defender has to be a lowly sidekick, you don't know what you're talking about.

If you think my post was "overractionary," I'm envious of your very calm world. What do you do to the poster's who actually call people names, use all caps, and call down doom on everything?
