Me, please! Sarah Wynter, ice/kin controller, lvl 50. I don't know about a villain one because I have plans later in the afternoon.

Quote:If it's a waste, you're not doing it right. I've leveled from 6-19 doing Halloween events. Solo it can be painful, but if you team up, it's lots of fun. Last night I was Supersidekicked to some high-level friends and leveled 8 times.I've talked to a few people online, some newer, some seasoned vets, some with more months play than I have (51), and we generally agree on this. When a level 9 regen scrapper continuously gets turned into hash while trick or treating, it really doesn't make it much fun. Never mind trying to do Zombie Apocalypse or the Mystic Banner Events. No matter how high our low level characters are sidekicked, we still can't do enough to survive, much less get the kills. When my level 5 blaster is auto-sidekicked to level 38, and his first blast power is only doing 23 points of damage, there is either something wrong with the sidekicking engine, or the monsters have stupid high DR. Using the sliding level scale on the Manage screen showed that a level 38 blaster should be doing at least 70ish points of damage with that attack, so I don't know what the deal is.
I got a friend of mine to start playing for the fun of Halloween, and he has decided to never play again because even with my help, the Halloween events just weren't any fun for him, because he spent more time at the hospital than fighting. Halloween was at least the second best holiday for us as kids. It's kinda sad that our 'kid' heroes get no fun out of it now.
If you don't like it, don't do it, but don't condemn it for all low level characters based on your personal opinion and some friends. -
Quote:GR isn't even going to be in Beta until Q2 of 2010, I think they said. If that's the case and your current card is fine now, what about asking to hold off on your Christmas present until summer or later? By then any card listed here will likely be cheaper and there may be better cards out.Any gurus out there care to give me some advice.
My fiance is asking for my Christmas List by tonight (yea, her family does this way too early for me), and I always put a new video card on my list.
Currently I have a ATI Radeon HD 3870 612 Pcie card. It does fine with what I play.
I don't think it's worth buying a new card now for game tech you won't likely see for another 6+ months when you could get the same card for less. -
Quote:I'd like to see both of these options. If you stick around, you get to stay. If you snooze, you lose - but you always have the option of rejoining when you come back. I think that's more than fair. With the variety of channels available, there should be at least to join when you come back. And really, resources should be for the ones using them. Now seeing what the devs have done for channels, and SG/VG's, which is to increase the number we are allowed, I would suggest A. letting them know we need to increase the number allowed in a so called channel, or B. after 60 days or inactivity, these globals that fill in these channels be removed.
Perhaps some people who don't participate in what's going on and are just there "in case they need it some day" can voluntarily leave. I know I used to be a member of the original channel - I don't even remember the name - and found I wasn't making use of it and didn't really contribute anything valuable, so I left to make room for someone else who would. Plenty of people rely on those channels and the channels rely on them. If you're a member and it's valuable to you, you shouldn't question staying. But any of us just taking up space should be ready to move over and let someone else benefit. -
Quote:I'm not in either channel, but I know I'd appreciate that. I have so many MOTD messages when I log in, I often don't remember to scroll up and read them. Thanks, Arwen! Not to derail the conversation, but if I see someone in JFA trying to get a team together and they're not posting anywhere else (like JFA2010), I'll remind them that the channel has moved. I don't do it to "police" anyone, but more like a head's up because I know people don't read the MOTD.

Quote:Incorrect. We can also judge them on their current words and actions, not just those of the past. You say "Don't let old crap kill a possibly good thing" but thie thing is, in an online environment, in real life, or anywhere else the only thing we have to judge people on are our past interactions with them, which is exactly what I'm doing here, and it isn't limited strictly to Chrome.
In this particular case, you might not want us to do that right now. -
Quote:There have always been duplicate channels of various names; not just replacement channels, either. People want to be involved and contribute. Sometimes that means they duplicate efforts with their own brand or spin on it. This isn't anything new and honestly shouldn't be that confusing. As Arwen and I already pointed out earlier, we already have a channel that is for all things on Justice, as the name of the channel indicate - Justice For All.
Just because a channel is called Justice for All or Justice United doesn't mean it caters to what every individual is looking for. If people want to try something new/different/"improved" that caters to their own tastes, that shouldn't be confusing. It happens everywhere every day. (Don't like Coke? Have a Pepsi, an RC Cola, or one of the many other brands. Don't like the news on Fox? Try CNN, FOX, or one of the others. Not a fan of Orcs? Try City of Heroes.) Why would Justice be different? -
No one in this thread has suggested that. He says he doesn't like it, which is not the same as "it should be done away with." he can delete the others and just use one. Doesn't mean everyone has to.
Try taking the chip off your shoulder; i think it's throwing off your balance and perspective. -
Happy Halloween, everyone. It will be nice to get back to my computer and real Internet access. Trying to keep up with the forums over
my phone has been quite the challenge. -
Quote:I was on a plane to Hero Con to see you! And I'm slow because I'm reading/posting from my iPhone. By the time I catch up with what's going on around here, it'll be time for Hero Con 2010.

Arwen: so much awesome she needs two birthday threads to contain it. Happy birthday, Arwen! It was great to see you again this year and I hope we can all do it again next year. Many happy returns of the whole week!

I'm with my family in the East Bay and head back to Austin on Oct. 31.

Many shoot returns of the day, Chloe. It was great to meet you at Hero Con. I'm glad you made it out this year and I hope to see you again next year!

Skype is free, which is a huge plus. I hate not having push to talk on big teams, though. You hear everything: coughing, crunching of snacks, drinking, breathing, etc. I can deal with most of those, but some people don't have headsets or play with game sounds on really high volume settings or argue with family/roommates, etc. I don't really want to hear people yell at spouses and kids. My friend and I use it when we duo and Skype is great for that, but the more people you add, the crazier it gets.
I'd say try it. If you like it, it's absolutely worth the fee of $0.00. If you like the chat function but not Skype, you may at
least learn it's worth while and decide to invest I'm a paid server for another chat system. -

Quote:And really, I kind of don't appreciate it when the level cap keeps getting pushed out and pushed out. I have enough moving targets to shoot for at work; I don't need someone to keep changing the rules in my game, too. "Thought you had a plan, you were on top, had it all figured out? Think again! Now you're small and weak and have to do it again!" I don't mind starting over on a new character; I expect that and enjoy it. I don't like it when my accomplishments on an old character suddenly get downgraded and I have to climb back up to the top.To be honest, (getting to the level cap to be more powerful is) only the goal for *some* MMOs. Yes, it's a pretty common goal, but I wouldn't say it's required of the genre. (It's the easiest way to keep people playing - and paying - so many companies go that way. The other really common method is making getting to the cap a nigh-infinite grind - see Asian MMOs in particular for that one.)
