Ran a Dr. Quaterfield TF today.....it wasn't pretty to say the least. I'll let the screenshot do most of the explanation.

So, is it fair to say 372 is a Champion record?

Apart from silence, Broadswords are similar to the axe or the mace in how they handle; they are heavy, clumsy weapons that require two hands to use.
Longswords would make better sense for a Stalker.
[/ QUOTE ]
Broadswords are one-handed in both the European and Eastern styles. Many people mistake broadswords for hand-and-a-half or claymores. The uberginormous "broadsword" they have for CoH is just a cartoon prop.

This is still a game and there is a player code of conduct and a EULA. There are still norms of decent behavior even in PvP games where players are trying to virtually kill each other.

Im a straight girl and have gone to gay bars.. gay people at clubs are a lot of fun.. no pressure just a good time.
[/ QUOTE ]
So now girls go to gay bars to get away from straight guysdo straight guys go to lesbian bars then? Oh well have fun at gay bars.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. Straight guys follow the girls to gay bars to play the 'sensitive friend' angle and maybe get some 'I'm not a threat' grinding in on the dance floor... then let alcohol do the work and slip out the door the next morning claiming it was a one time deal and you're really still gay as a method of commitment avoidance.
No pressure, just a good time. -

I laugh when someone says "lol get over it nerds" in this thread, because they don't get it. Nobody wants to murder this guy, we don't wanna flex our e-pecs and go over there and threaten to beat him up at a gas station in Sac-town, and we aren't afraid of furry things because he griefed people.
Iltat seems more concerned with the fact that he slapped the community in the face. VickiVee seems more concerned that his scientific method was sloppy. Others seem concerned with at least one or the other, a good mixture I believe.
The truth is that this guy wrote a "research paper" with little to no intellectual value concerning online communities ("I griefed people, now I'm gonna downplay it and say that they overreacted."). Worst case scenario, folks, he writes a book that nobody will publish. I mean, look at the article! It's done so shoddy, there was no counterpoints or research on the subject...it's almost as if the news office either sent their least capable reporter or the reporter that they sent could care less about some video game he's probably never heard of and some guy winning a lot at it without cheating but everyone says he is cheating. Though it does remind him of the WoW episode of South Park...he likes that episode. I keep seeing a few images in my head when it comes to this thread:
1) The reporter that was contacted rolling his eyes before, during, and after any conversation he has with anyone about this piece.
2) The reporter's boss laughing about sending the reporter to report this sort of thing. The idea of actually interviewing the doctor makes him giggle, because he thinks it's all dumb too.
3) The doctor reading this thread, both laughing and becoming visibly angry. Think this kid.
4) Boobies. I see boobies no matter what subject is on my brain. Think rickroll.
Allright, that's all I gotta say. It's important to some people, but not because our feelings are hurt or anything. It's more or less because if I stood up and gave a press conference saying that this game sucked and that everyone who plays it is a [censored], you would want to stand up and say "Sir, I disagree."
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, I started to read and then noticed you said "boobies" further down and immediately thought of (oYo) and clicked the link.
Well played, sir. Well played.
On a side note, I finally fixed the title of this thread. -

anyone know what build this guy was? It's evident that he was a hero class, but what AT?
[/ QUOTE ]
He was a DM/Regen Fearbot.
He went out of his way to not get kills himself, but instead, he would TP Foe/Fear people into mobs to intentionally give them debt. If he came across someone with the ability to overcome his tactic (he really only had one), he would Teleport away.
I read his story when he first released it, and while he's apparently an educated individual, his story was not very interesting to me because it felt like a dumb proof. Similar to a researcher releasing statistical proof that teenage boys think about bewbies a whole lot, his entire story was predictable. Of course people got angry, this individual was wasting their time, more than anything. Debt can be specifically tracked as a required time sink in order to get rid of it, so anytime he gave an individual debt (which occurred thousands of times), he was actually stealing some of that person's time. How shocking that people would be angry about such a thing.
He would go on to attack, insult, or dismiss peoples' criticisms of this approach to gameplay, which, in turn, made people angrier about the fact that this individual not only went out of his way to rob people of their available time, but he then seemingly embraced and prided himself on this fact.
I won't be paying any money, at any time, to support someone's proof that being a [censored] makes other people angry.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't buy into it. This guy pulled off the big one. He's been telling his wife for years that all the gaming he does is "research" and when she finally called him on it... you got this. -
[ QUOTE ]
playing the game the way it was intended
[/ QUOTE ]
I wish people would do this. I mean, this game was meant to be played with everyone selecting a superheroic name and being a superhero. This is why I get so mad when I see people who don't capitalize their names. I mean, that isn't what was intended! And people with numbers on the ends of their names?! Come on! That isn't intended! And what's with everyone talking out of character all the time? This is an MMORPG - roleplaying is intended!
And if they can't even get their names right, I don't even want to know what people are doing to level their characters up. I mean, I bet they're not even reading all the text for the missions and contacts sometimes. This would speed along their leveling rate because they're not taking the time to enjoy the story!
Damn 'sploiters. -

The only thing that I've never understood is how some people will farm badges and then look down on people for farming influence.. its the same thing, I promise you. If someone can logically prove to me that its different, I will retract my statement but I'm yet to see any objective difference.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, oh, I know this one! In one you get a badge and in the other you get influence! It's like the difference between farming for carrots or pumpkins. In one you get carrots and in the other you get pumpkins! Of course, it's better to farm pumpkins for the pie. Though I suppose someone could make a carrot pie, but I don't know that carrot pie would be all that tasty. -

BTW...Rogue Expansion is um a bit late. This expansion should've been in place way before COV came out. Why would I want to take a hero & make him into a villain when I already have villains or vice versa?
[/ QUOTE ]
While most people only think CoH/CoV is a game designed so people could make whiny posts about PvP, there is a little known aspect to the game called "content." This is little used by most people as it requires the player to be able to read and be entertained by another little known aspect of MMOs called "story."
See, back in the day these were called MMORPGs and the last 3 letters meant the first 3 letters would have more to do that treat the game like an elaborate chat system.
But look on the bright side, now you can pimp your Corruptor, make him a hero, and make even more threads about how much Hero Corruptors suck in PvP! Win win! -

The Mighty Monthly Arc Review is seeking authors!
== Currently hiring for the following positions ==
Review Writer - The review writer is responsible for producing one review each month. While this may seem quite a humble position, the review writer wields sarcasm, satire, and spirit-crushing personal views like iron whips, lashing at the lowly arc author's pathetic offering. Or, the reviewer may scribe words as soft as rose petals borne on a spring breeze, bringing fame and notoriety upon a deserving individual, elevating them to the level of society divas. These are the whims of the review writer, whom many consider a higher form of being... near god-like, really.
Columnists - Do you have something special to say about the Mission Architect, storytelling, or any of the aspects of crafting user-created content in City of Heroes/Villains? Well, if you have enough to say on a monthly basis, this job's for you. The Mighty Monthly Arc Review is hoping for a "Tips and Tricks" type column, but any good ideas will be entertained.
==Compensation==
The Mighty Monthly Arc Review offers a competative compensation package on par with world-class volunteer organizations who do not compensate their volunteers. Salary will be based on a percentage of sales of the Mighty Monthly Arc Review, which is distributed freely. Health and Dental Insurance are available for those meeting the requirements (must prove continuous 6-month residency within 1000 miles of Tharsis Tholus) and automobile leasing options are available (we can send you a list of three places near you where you can lease a car, these are what we mean by 'options' - please note, you must pay your own lease and not mention us in any official capacity whatsoever).
Interested parties should PM me with some idea of the kind of writer you're looking to be.
Thank you for your attention! -
Howdy,
Name's Mighty. I'm going to be publishing the Mighty Monthly Arc Review (MMAR) and am currently building my writing team. There is one feature of the MMAR, however, that I'm having trouble with:
- The Arc of the Month -
I'd like to give out a 50 million influence/infamy prize each month, however, I only have pull on my home server: Champion. What I'm looking for is a list of generous individuals or groups who could commit the funds on each server in case the writer of the winning arc resides there.
Benefactors would, of course, recieve credit for their munificent magnanimity.
If you are willing and able, please post here or PM me.
Many thanks! -

A few nights ago my wife walked into the room and said "you've been on that thing for over two hours" and proceeded to tell me everything she wanted me to do around the house.
I replied simply, "it hasn't been two hours, my mission teleport hasn't recharged yet."
This was not the response she was looking for, but it did occur to me that perhaps I had been playing too much when I find myself measuring out my life in power recharge times.

haha awesome, how did that pan out

My wife's a 27 year old Colombian woman who's into salsa dancing, psychology, and cleaning the house. She despises computers and I don't believe she's ever even played solitaire on one.
The look I was given requires a background check and 24-hour waiting period to use. I was lucky to have survived.
As with most stories concerning my wife and this game, it ends with the line "and then I apologized."
