There looked to be about 20 people involved, but it was a lost cause with so few. Of course, that didnt stop us trying...

We may see if Hover has another use to a Scrapper on tonight's dropship raid
Honestly, I picked it on my main as a way of getting Flight. She has always been that way and I will never change her. Her build isn't all that but she does pretty good anyway, in spite of my lack of knowledge when I was building her (in fact, still lacking probably).
But all I was suggesting is don't rule out Hover for a scrapper. In two years plus of having it, I have found it very useful countless times. I would never use it for moving about though, agree with Gonk there, it is a little too slow. If I am fighting airborne I tend to get in position using fly, switch to Hover when in range and then start hitting, switching between fly and hover as needed. For an AV or GM, I run in position on the ground, hit Hover, adjust into a better position and start hitting. It sounds unwieldy I guess but it works OK for me, second nature now really.
But you cant go wrong with Air Sup either, its pretty amazing attack. Shame we can't pick more powers really -
Agent Mercy Clare reporting for duty, sir!
This should be fun.... -
Gratz Psy. Was wonderful to team with Mo at points along the way, just sorry I couldn't have been there for the ding. Big gratz!

Air Superiority IS a superb attack, no question, but don't rule out Hover, it can be extremely useful to a scrapper. I have Hover on my main, Kat/Inv scrapper. As I play mostly at 50, tend to run into a lot of GMs/AVs or even EBs, and switching on Hover when you and the team have a big bad cornered for the kill is pretty useful. It gives you a nice boost to defence, it allows you to position yourself around the AV so as to avoid cone attacks and stuff, and frankly it just looks cool
Can also be useful against enemies that like to stay airborne, like Croatoa witches for example.
Basically, ask yourself if you would rather have the extra attack or a utility defensive power. If you would prefer the attack, go with Air Sup, it is great. Otherwise give Hover a try. If you don't like it you can always respec it out later. -
Thank you.
I couldn't have got Chastity to 50 without the support of the Iron Monkeys, the loveliest SG anyone could hope to be a member of. Special thanks to you all.
And gratz to Manc - and bless you for waiting so long for me to catch up to you, too -
I've always thought part of the problem with this debate is the misuse of the terms "Tanker" and "tank". "Tanker" is the name of the archetype, and there can be lots of different builds and combinations within that archetype eg scrankers. But "tank" is a role within a team, the role of taking aggro and damage and protecting other team members from harm.
So does a Tanker need taunt to be a "Tanker"? Obviously, no, that toon is a "Tanker" because that is its archetype.
Does a Tanker need taunt to be a "tank"? Personally I would say yes, since the role of a tank requires grabbing aggro, and the taunt auras and taunt are what get that job done most effectively. For that matter does the "tank" even need to be a "Tanker", since with support a couple of other archetypes can sit happily in the tank role, eg the dark scrapper or kheldian dwarf.
I think the devs made this debate inevitable by calling the archetype the "Tanker" in the first place, imo it would have been better to call it the Guardian or something similar. That way, players wouldn't have confused the two so much and expected every Tanker to be a tank and able to fill the tank role.
Just my opinion.
Oh and btw, I use the words tank and tanker interchangeably too when I am chatting in-game, so I am just as guilty of this as anyone else -
Gratz Gonk - I'm really pleased you got to 50 with the WS, especially since now I might get a chance to kill an enemy again before you and your little fluffy clouds have demolished everything in range Nice one Gonkeh!

I really dont want to change my healer at all, I got to level 50 as she is and she is probably not very good really, my first character and I didnt know what I was doing, lol, but I like her and dont want to change any powers. I might put in different SOs though, putting in more recharges sounds a very good idea.
