This is incorrect. Upgrades for Windows 7 are legit for any previous version of Windows from XP up to Vista. As long as you have a valid previous OS key, the method I posted, and the method being used by the others in thread are completely legal.

Windows XP to Windows 7 upgrades, while legit, are also not officially supported.

You do not need to install any OS in order to "upgrade" to Windows 7. There are two methods of doing a completely fresh W7 install using the upgrade disk.

The first way is to format your drive, then install the upgrade. CANCEL when it asks you to activate. When it gets to the dekstop (Windows 7 thinks it is a trial version until activated), start the install process again. It will run the upgrade but not actually do anything.

Another option is to follow these instructions.

Just to be sure, if you are coming from Windows XP (any of you), there is a delay when first launching the game that started with Windows Vista. The game can pause at the loading screen for a full minute and even say "(Not Responding)" in the task bar. It just sits there for anywhere from a few seconds to two minutes with the spinning wheel.

While two minutes is excessive for this issue, it can take that long on my laptop, so I include it in the range I'm willing to wait .

Three desktops, one laptop. Very different specs on all machines, and all have been doing it since I switched them to Vista a year ago.
  5. My wife is running an nVidia 9600GT. She also gets the error, and she is also running W7 Final. I can provide CoHelper and Hijackthis for her as well if it matters.
  6. This bug seems to be back with a vengeance with i16. It also seems to be affecting both ATi and nVidia cards.

    What happened?

  8. heh, didn't even read the post *right above* yours :P .
  9. A couple of bugs encountered while Duo:

    1. Mission owner set to +2 levels. On mission complete, mission owner gets substantially less XP as end bonus than other team member. First mission, Owner gets 500XP bonus. second team member gets 1400xp. Second mission, owner gets 300xp bonus. Other team member gets 1000xp. Both on team are the exact same level. Switched leaders and started doing the second team member's missions at 0/0/no AV. Mission bonus was the same for both team members.

    2. If the duo is in seperate zones, with no mission set, you can select a contact marker but it will not show (or briefly flashes) in the nav window. Only contact map markers are effected. WW, T, P, Hosp... all of these work correctly, but the little purplr person marker does not work unless a mission is selected.

    One more MM bug:

I have not been able to find a consistant way to reproduce this, but the bruiser on my 38 Thug MM does not always listen to the Heel command. He will engage, then not only not come when called, he does not produce a speech bubble acknowledging the command. All other thugs seem fine. It happened several times, but as I said, I could not get it to repeat on demand.
  10. Using my forcefield character last night, I spotted another odd issue that popped up with i16.

Pre-i16, you would cast one bubble, and you would remain in the hunched over post cast stance for a bit. This made casting the next bubble more "flowing" than in post-i16. Now when you cast the first bubble, you return to a standing tall stance. It makes the casting of multiple bubbles look far more awkward and twitchy.

Do you have a level up waiting?
  19. I have told family members that refuse to listen to reasonable backup\AV\firewall suggestions that they are on their own unless they have an actual hardware failure, and even then I will do nothing but get them running again.
  20. It could also be something to do with older drivers, as well. I have only had this card long enough to have used the 9.5 drivers up to the current 9.8 drivers. I have not tested with anything other than those 4 revisions.

Of course, with Windows 7, I can't even test my laptop at all since the ATi drivers are completely incompatible with this game on the 1200x chipset when using W7. I didn't notice the issue on Vista or Server 2k8, tho.

It would be SOOOO nice if ATi and the CoX devs could actually DO something about this. Isn't it long enough that this is an nVidia only game?
  21. 12x10 is a standard resolution. It is a standard 19 inch LCD screen. Just for the sake of testing, when the window is reduced to 10x7, it still has this issue. 10x7 is also a standard resolution. It is the normal rez for a 17in monitor.
  22. Windowed mode, non-widescreen monitor. 12x10 rez. I am using a 4890, and I have this issue.

  24. I sanyone else getting their card maxed out on activity in the CCC on the login screen? when i start the game, I only have a couple of minutes before the heat alarm starts beeping. I opened CCC and saw the activity spikes at 99% until I logged in all the way. It is *only* CoH that does this, and I play a LOT of high end graphics games.
