It seems like they're trying to cram every horror movie trope into this show. I expect the season finale will be like the end of the Blair Witch Project...

If it's unkillable than it's basically a perma 10% inf buff. Mr. MP does have a point about kills not being a major source of inf generation, but what about the Double XP Weekend coming up? Wouldn't that effectively be a 20% boost?

I might never buy the Leprechaun.
The Coyote travel power is a REMOTE possibility, if they put it on sale. -
Quote:Transporters... the idea has been around long enough that it feels less ridiculous than it is.So an amulet that magically copies someone's body, transfers this new body to a different planet, keeping the other body in suspended animation, and at the same time transports itself without all this nonsense is more "realistic" than someone having a soul that can move magically between worlds... which is what the soul does in just about every mythology out there?
I like your idea of him thinking he's in Hell, though, because that's a reasonable conclusion based on what happened to him. -
They know the trope, but do they know it as a means of interplanetary travel? I think that's beyond the limit of the suspension of disbelief.

Quote:How would they communicate it visually without a lot of cumbersome voice-over explaining what was happening? I read the book and I don't understand what happened (although I'm not done yet, so maybe a better explanation happens later). Also How can you even remotely say that no one would buy it? "Most" people already buy that they have a soul and "most" people know what vision quests are and "most" people know what astral projection is... Its part of the fantasy element and it works perfectly reasonably in that, but a majority of people in the real world are betting on something like that being fiction so >.>
I highly doubt that most people know what vision quests and astral projection are, although the core audience for this might. The problem is the core audience for this isn't going to make you the $600 million you need to break even. Having a device that does the translation to Mars makes it much easier for the average movie-goer to understand. -
Quote:I'm reading A Princess of Mars, having already seen the film. The way he originally gets to Mars in the book is: he goes into a cave in Arizona, somehow his "soul" gets outside of his body, then he walks outside, looks up in the sky, see Mars, and BAM, he's on Mars.Sorry, just noticed this.
I'm not completely sure what you're talking about here. Granted it's been quite a while since I read the books, but I pretty much recall everything being presented as technology not magic. Granted, it's pretty absurd tech but so are a lot of other things in the sci-fi genre and not all of them were written 100 years ago.
Sounds like Astral projection to me, but he does have a duplicate physical body when he gets to Mars.
It could be technology, but it comes across more as super-advanced psychic powers or magic, to me.
I totally see why they didn't follow this in the movie, because no one would have bought it.
An interesting side note is that he immediately knows he's on Mars in the book, where he has to figure that out in the movie. Again, they had to do this with the changes they made. -
Finishing up Mass Effect 3.

Finished Mass Effect 3... is the server up yet?

I knew it too, but they threw a lot more than that revelation in there. Shane gets killed Rick AND Carl! And then throw a full scale zombie invasion in there for the finale!

I hope this thread doesn't get modded, because it makes an excellent point.
The ease of movement and communication in this game really has ruined me for other MMOs. I have a Lifetime sub to one fantasy-based MMO that I haven't played in years. When I try to log in and do a few quests, the plodding pace of travel (even when mounted!) drives me crazy within half an hour. -
I think the concept of The One is used way too much in fiction, so I avoid it when creating characters. I don't think any of my characters fall under this category.

To be honest, GP, I find almost everything overpriced on the Market. I certainly pay a lot more money under the Freedom system than I did before. I do get more stuff for my money, but I'd prefer Free Issues, Free Power Sets, and every once in a while $10 Costume/Emote/Power packs. Alas, we'll never see those days again...
-
If something's under 400 points and I have some interest, it's usually a no-brainer for me.
Why would you pay for it, GP? 150? 100? -
Amazing as always!

I'll miss Dale. It sounds like he had a better death in the comic.
I guess Carl didn't take Shane's advise to stop trying to get killed, only this time he got someone else killed.
Now that we know more about Randall's group, I'd probably be in favor of getting rid of him as well... -
That's a little early for me but I'll try to make it. IN!
I can bring a lot of stuff, but my first choice would be my Blaster or Stalker. -
I'm just mad they picked Mass Effect Day for the I22 launch.
