And a bit more summer fun - this with two of my spines scrappers (same home world,) one just enjoying the sun, the other... not quite enjoying the frisbee stuck on him as much.

Quote:I'll be honest, it's not my listOk two comments. First I made a thread a few weeks ago asking for this, I vaguely remembered seeing it but could not for the life of me find it, unfortunately no one else remembered it either, so thank you for posting it.
Secondly I'm looking through the list you gave me and I don't see that doing what I want. Assuming I've back engineered your number correctly you are suggesting I turn on the following settings:
32 status hide buff numbers
4096 group window numeric stacking
8192 group window hide buff numbers
2097152 pet window hide buff numbers
Now when I select the "do not send buff numbers" option from the menu it still shows the buffs icons, it just doesn't give values if you right click on them. Is this supposed to work differnetly?I grabbed it the first time I saw it posted, and stuck it in notepad. Whether what you're seeing is normal or not, I don't know.

Quote:Well, unless they're actually dead, it's quite possible that (oh) one was a tank that got a taunt off just before they lost the last bit of END (say, a power crash of some sort) and detoggled, getting stunned.
You said everyone else was out of commission because of mez or whatever. Who else would the boss be mad at?
Or the AI's just being wonky.
Never assume it's you just because you're *not* mezzed.
OK, fine. If you were locked in a room with this guy for a few hours, would you NOT want to use your largest, most damaging attack, even if you didn't need that much damage? >.> -
While I won't argue with there being too many currencies, (I think the "Shards for now! No, wait, threads! And salvage! And two types of merits!" was ridiculous, quite frankly,) I don't actually think - despite what I'm saying above - that prestige needs to be removed.
Simply for the fact it converts "personal" to "Group." It's not SuperBlasterGuy's inspiration storage, it's WonderGroup's. It's not BlankTank's teleporter, it's WonderGroup's. That little disconnect from personal to SG ownership is where Prestige is useful, IMHO. (And is also reason to not bother displaying personal prestige totals.) -

It's a messy way to upgrade. Agree a clean install is really best.

Quote:There's no specific answer re: HC and supervillains. Or, rather, no need for just one answer. You can:Well, then like the dear Crey tanks, the truth of a conspiracy surrounding Hero Corps and increases of costumed villains is only conjecture as well. There might not actually be any truth to it on Hero Corps' end (how many evil corporations do we need, anyway? Good corporations exist in comics too, y'know: Wayne Enterprises, Stark Industries, etc). Perhaps one of their previous enemies just simply has a bone to pick with them and sends minions to hassle them....
- See it as villains "upping the game" in response to hero corp showing up (IE, mob controls drug trade in small country, HC shows up, mob hires on villains.)
- See it as Mercenaries being Mercenary and causing trouble intheir time off ("Nobody can catch me if I rob this bank...")
- See it as an internal plot by some HC folks to keep business brisk,
- Mix of the above.
I go for #4, specifically. -
Quote:Just for a little extra detail (probably at the link) - demorecord is (a) smaller than a video, size wise, and (b) will not show the UI.
If you WANT the UI to record, you'll need to use something like fraps as you play. (There's another - wegame? - available, to my knowledge, and if you haven't bought fraps, it watermarks the top of the video with their URL and shuts off the recording after 30 seconds.)
Even with a demo, though, you'll STILL need something to record it to save elsewhere (youtube, cd, whatever.) So... same as above, fraps or whatnot.
Having USED Fraps... it doesn't (IIRC) do much compressing. Video files - and you'll get a series of them if you record for very long - can grow *huge.* Make sure you have space for them - yes, I'd call 10 Gb "tight." I save mine (when I do them) on a part of a terabyte drive. -
Quote:It's not "my" scenario when you start adding things and dancing around. The standard EvilGeko "let me add crap and obscure the question" is what's irritating. Also,But at this point you're just mad I Captain Kirk'ed your Kobayashi Maru scenario.

An AoE, when nothing else is around and when you have no other powers ready is the proper power to use.
(Side note for anyone else - I do actually like Geko. Doesn't mean he doesn't irritate the hell out of me when he pulls this sort of thing, though.) -
You are, I am assuming, intelligent. I'm starting to question that at this point, but I'm going to stay with that assumption. You are well aware that tangents can come up in threads - such as discussing your "maximal" use, which I laid out specifically as the reason for bringing this up:
Quote:Originally Posted by meUsing the nuke is not maximal utilization of the power - you're taking out a single target at far less than full health. -
Quote:Your answer - after making up extra critters, etc. that were not in the situation - is to dance around and let them get killed because... what, the power use isn't "maximal," whatever you care to mean by that since in this situation it's an empty term?N
No, it's like being asked how to handle a tactical scenario after being told. Somebody is going to shoot you and your friends. You have a bazooka and nothing else. What do you do? It's a biased question intended to lead to only one result. I didn't take the bait. Sorry.
And you still haven't answered how using Shield Charge - in MY specific named situation, with ONE boss that can kill your team or be killed with either the one AOE or a few smaller attacks, not your "And all these other guys I just threw in for the hell of it, and this and this and this" - is any more "maximal" (a term you've yet to define to anyone given it fits no known definition in this instance) than using the other AOEs.
If we had splash damage and friendly fire so it would damage your allies, your answer would make sense even with MY very simple, very specific constraints.
As for:
Quote:Nonsense
Let's see, my situation:
- Teammates unable to help themselves, low health.
- One boss that can kill them, but is low on health.
- Your powers at this point are a high damage AOE or a bunch of smaller powers, either of which will kill the boss.
in response to your "maximal" comment. Your reaction?
"What's the team makeup?" Irrelevant. The team cant' do anything for the next several seconds, but are in danger.
"What enemy group?" Irrelevant. We're looking at one boss that can do AOE enough to kill the group, and will if nothing changes.
"What are my powersets/primary/secondary?" Also irrelevant. You have an AOE and a few smaller attacks, everything else is debuffed and won't be up before the boss kills the group.
You also decided "Well, I add more critters" for some reason.
You also stayed focused, for some reason, on knockback, even after I modified that to "Fine, a high damage AOE to get you out of thinking of knockback."
And like I said, your "Solution" without your added nonsense? Dancing away? Great, the boss still has a pretty good chance of killing the rest of the team. Your choice is, essentially, "Do nothing." -
-
Quote:You "Fleshed it out?" No, you added in qualifiers to a simple scenario to make it more complicated and weight it in your favor.I note, that you did exactly what I said you would. When I filled in the facts, you quarreled with my fleshing out of the scenario and ignored that I provided a tactically sound solution other than what you suggested.
It's like asking "What do you like for dinner?" and being asked about table settings, the weather, what kind of car would be used to go to dinner if going there, what the traffic's like, what sort of lunch you had last week and the color of the carpet. None of that *matters,* but you want to obscure and tilt it so far out of the way with irrelevant BS to try to "make a point." Just say freaking "Steak" or "Fish" or something.
I'll also point out YOU were saying I was asking for things that I *was not.* Such as "A KB causing nuke."
You also filled in "Other critters," which I DID NOT HAVE IN THAT SCENARIO. They are, fortunately,d ead. They can, however, still have debuffed the team before dying.
Possible result with MY specific description and YOUR actions?
Boss stays aggroed on one of the mezzed characters, fires off attack, kills the rest of the team while you're dancing around. Congrats. Enjoy your team wipe.
Quote:When I filled in the facts -
Quote:If we're looking specifically at a nuke, with one or two exceptions, with one target they won't drain you of endurance on one target. That aside...Nevertheless, my answer stands. You did say a nuke. By which I took you to mean one of the high-damage powers that drain you of all endurance.
Quote:My answer stands. Don't use the power. Now as you changed it to "high damage AoE"
Quote:then of course you use the power. If the power in question was Shield Charge, then hell yeah I'm going to use it. Gladly. But then, that's a maximal use of the power so my premise is maintained.
That aside, how is using Shield Charge a "maximal" use of the power when using, say, Inferno, Omega Maneuver, Dawn Strike, Thunderous Blast, etc are not, which you suggest above with your "I move..." line? -
Quote:Dual, pfft. I want to quad wield.Wow, if there were a Wyvern code with a bow, you could finally make Dual Archery!

Quote:Show me where I stated "A KB causing nuke." Especially when I specifically said:OK. Here's my solution. Going to fill in a few facts. My character is a Peacebringer. The remainder of the team are all either Blasters, Corruptors, or Defenders. None have mez protection of their own. The boss at issue is a Dark Dwarf about to use Mire. We're on the second mission of the ITF. Why that boss and those powers? Well, I wanted to pick a character with a KB causing nuke as you stated.
1. Not all nukes cause KB, and
2. Replace with "High damage AOE" if you're so hung up on KB.
I swear, trying to get just a simple, straight answer out of you, and you still try to manipulate it. Tot he point of making your teammates blasters when I said, specifically,
"low health/stunned/generally unable to do anything *right now*"
The situation I put out there has *jack all* to do with KB. -
Yeah, but that has nothing to do with *replacing* one on top of another - and just imagine slotting a level 40-50 and having to answer the "Are you sure you want to place this enhancement?" that many times. >.<
To my knowledge, there's:
- The initial "Do you want to place this? It will be locked in place..." one
- A "You are about to replace this enhancement with one of lower level" prompt.
Normally just placing one on top of another - even con or higher - goes to the combination screen, *except* in the case of IOs, where they're just replaced. -
-
I was about to say "But they do," but I'm thinking of the combination screen (and of "replacing a higher level with a lower one.")
If it's not in there - yeah, adding this would be a decent QOL. -
Quote:I did not say a KB power. I said a nuke. While some (Energy, for instance) do KB, others do not (Electric, Fire, Ice come to mind.) You can replace that with "Generic high damage AOE" if you're so hung up on KB.No, I'm not. There is no such situation. I'm talking about the game as it actually exists, not made up situations tailor made to make it so that using a KB power is the only option.
I suggest, given your comments, you re-read precisely the situation I described. Teammates at low health/stunned/generally unable to do anything *right now* and in danger from a boss. Your one attack that's recharged and ready to go, thanks to the fight that otherwise is just finished, is a high damage AOE - or, as mentioned, brawl and temp powers. Your other attacks won't be back before that boss attacks thanks to a lot of stacked recharge debuffs (and if you DON'T think that exists, you have not been paying attention. One of the - believe it's 20-30 Safeguards - has a good chance of putting you against EXACTLY that if you go to stop a jailbreak.)
This isn't about KB, this is about "Maximal utilization of a power is always the optimal strategy by definition." (Maximal, itself, not being an appropriate word in this statement, but being taken as "If the power won't give you the most bang for the buck, it's not appropriate to use." A high damage AOE is meant to give a lot of damage to multiple enemies. You don't have multiple enemies in this scenario. You have one, with two options - as if you wait for an "appropriate" attack - ST, doing rougly the boss's health in damage - the team WILL die. Thanks to the prior fight, they have no breakfrees to break out of the stun they're in, and are low enough on insps they can't combine.) -
You're dodging the question entirely. Trying to, if you'll pardon the phrase, lawyer your way out of it. (And ignoring such things as "You've been debuffed to the point where your next attack won't recharge in 7 seconds" - you've *NEVER* seen a pack of Ink Men, for instance - or something in AE - that could do this? I have.)

Quote:And yet you (non generic you) step in to a thread specifically to attack motives that aren't there and question me (non generic me.)Finally, free tip from someone who's been there: no one cares about generic-your forum rep half as much as you do. And to the extent anyone does care, still-generic-you aren't doing yourself any favors by trying to defend it. People will make their own judgments.
I find that interesting, with the above quote.
After all, if "no one cares," then nobody should attack or question motives... which you, personally, did... which indicates SOME degree or sort of caring about that sort of thing. You don't see dissonance there?
