Just dual-boxed, pulled up my Thugs MM and another character - they were displaying the same thugs in the same order each time I summoned them over multiple attempts.
  2. Double cost... why? (And we need more traffic in went's/BM why?) Especially given proximity of several of the BM/WW to normal crafting tables and/or base portals (Steel - quick hop down and you're at either the uni or your base, same with Cap) and that the heavier crafters are going to have portable tables anyway...

Convenience isn't (to me, at least) worth double the price.

Well, those are customized pets I get through my power sets, so I guess they're done. Next? Or are you referring to something else?

I've got to ask if you've played Masterminds any length of time and are in the least familiar with Bodyguard mode. Yes, Masterminds *with no pets* are very squishy - but a Mastermind running around with no pets is like a Tanker deciding not to take their armors.

Masterminds with their pets - and not even all of them - are *exceptionally* hard to kill - and that's without taking their secondaries into account, which generally both add to their and their pets defense/resistance and debuff the enemy (with varying balance between them.)

Invuln, ported over, would be... well, let me be blunt, it'd be a pathetic set. Altered to the point it'd actually fit with a MM playstyle? I still don't see it being anywhere near as strong as other MM secondaries unless it's tweaked to the point of unrecognizability -or 'til you're basically playing FF, which already exists.

What of a Cold Domination power that was "Stone" instead? It would seem like a stronger defense to have, rather than ice.You could ask any Stone Armor tanker, and im sure that they would tell you.
Why would I ask a stone tanker this? Why would it be a "stronger defense to have than ice?" You have to look past 2-3 powers - Cold Domination is FAR more than Ice shield, Glacial shield and Frostwork. A "Stone cover" would not be giving out Granite to everyone.

I don't think you're taking the effects of things like Infrigidate, Benumb, Snow Storm, Arctic Fog, etc. into account - or trying to figure out what a "stone cover" Def/Con/Corr would be doing in its place.

I'm... confused by this statement. The naming is already first come, first served, and vet status has nothing to do with it. I mean, in a way yes, vets HAVE had first shot at names since they've had longer to try to GET them, but nothing stops someone who's had the game paid for and installed for all of ten seconds from getting X open name right off the bat.

The only way a vet could get "priority" on any given name at any particular point is for someone to submit a name, and then to have them email every vet (starting with the longest, down to the person who joined two minutes before the new person) asking if THEY wanted the name instead.

Old Faultline was, and Terra Volta is, a nightmare for super-speedsters, for example. Why not have a hazard zone that's equally tough for fliers?
My first character high enough to get there was a *teleporter.* And I STILL loved the zone.

Ahh, but it hadn't been abandoned for decades - the BP mass sacrifice happened at the end of the Rikti war, killing every man, woman, and child in the zone.

That said, yeah, I remember that - and really wish I could find my screenies from it.

Call me kooky, but I doubt anyone would want to interr fallen heroes on property currently infested with necromancers and grave-robbers. So when did the Pantheon move in?
I've had the *suspicion* that - despite locals remembering the name - "Dark" astoria has gone light and dark in a sort of cycle. It's referred to as "dark" Astoria when Spanky Liebowicz (sp?) was mayor, it's definitely "dark" during the 50s, but then we have the Rikti war mentioned, the Midnighters burial and such - and the BP sacrifice during or just after the Rikti war. (Personal belief is that the BP ritual cut short the "light" period of DA.)
  9. Um, might want to check your facts out on the groups in there. DA is not a "one note town." Explore the area a bit. Yes, the Banished Pantheon are there in force, trying to wake the Sleeper. However, the COT are also there in significant numbers, working *against* them on that same being, by their own dialog. And the Tsoo are around, sent in by Tub Ci to find "something."

And as far as the banisher badge? Are you kidding? Talos deals with the day/night cycle. Meanwhile, I just had to run around the park a bit in DA to have them spawn - sometimes with multiples to a group. That's been true since issue... think it was four that I first did that. And I've done it repeatedly since.

(Edit: Yes, I'm nitpicky. DA is one of my favourite zones.)

I won't argue with getting actual story elements in there - contacts, task forces and the like. I've seen them suggested, even suggested a few myself. It HAS lots of story potential (both current-day and via Ouro.) It needs to be used.
  10. No comment on why they disappeared. They were supposed to be fed (IIRC) from a third party - the revenue probably wasn't there.

They were also supposedly going to use some player-run ads in there, too. Never saw it. Only saw two ads ever (and at times they looked - er - out of place.)

Great. I look forward to it. Except, of course, that Jack was "hands off" of COH even before the NCSoft buyout. And, of course, that people who subbed afterward are still getting vet rewards awarded every three months.

Of course, there's the flip side, too, of people that "put up with jack," then LEFT and came back afterward... who don't have 60 month rewards, because they weren't here for 60 months. Yet, they STILL had to "put up with Jack" while they were around.

Also, NC bought out the COH IP in 2007, not 2008. But, as mentioned, Jack was "hands off" and on other projects before then. (Such as the now-dead MUO.)

That is *all.* Not a "You're better" or "You're more important." It's a *thank you.* Yes, it's a carrot as well, as far as marketing is concerned, but the rewardss - yes, even City Traveler - don't have that big of an impact!

Kill Freedom. Just delete it. This would force players to move from one overused server onto other servers instead.

Then don't offer to kill MY servers, either.

I'm sorry, but I have to see this as overstating their effect. They are, in the long term, *not a big deal.* Yes, even City Traveler, especially in light of the fact you can get *free* travel powers at level 5 and 10 by doing Safeguards, another one redside (get rocketpack to Dr. Hammond,) they're available for sale to anyone with 10k, *and* at least blueside, Khelds get travel powers free at level 1 (and 6, if you take nova, and 20 if you take Dwarf.)

No, I don't have it myself. I think it'll be a nice little "thanks" for staying around that long, yes. But that's *it.* (In fact, my *second* account will have to wait even longer than my first.)

There are a few categories of wish list items:

    1. Not possible with the current engine (such as grappling.) These would require a major overhaul to bring in.

    2. Not feasable with current manpower. We got this quite a bit pre-Paragon Studios, because they had *fifteen* people working on the game in total. This is why stuff that wasn't feasable before - such as power customization - IS feasable now. They have the manpower (60+ employees, I believe was the last number) to bring it out in a reasonable time.

    3. Don't believe it's possible, but they'll look at it. Some things really do fall under "I don't think that would work" - then they find it does.

    4. Not desired by the developers. Total respecs fall under this. This is just a flat out "no."

    5. We're not saying. They'd like to, they may even be working on it, but until it gets somewhere they CAN say "hey, we're doing this, this is coming," they don't want to raise anyone's hopes. See "skills system," "City vault" for reasons they may not want to announce these things. (Reworking the old Sonic Resonance graphics fell under this as well - I was told flat out by BaBs that they couldn't do it, and less than 3 months later... we had new graphics.)

  19. Another "I'll admit it's inspired from elsewhere" idea.

    Inspiration:
In Aion, there's traditional crafting. As you make items (as opposed to making materials out of raw materials... yeah, multiple steps) there's a chance of making a better quality item. For instance, making chain boots - you have some percentage of a chance of making slightly better quality ("Noble") chain boots.

It's kind of a nice surprise when it happens.

    Translation to COH:
Well, we don't have items to craft, fortunately. I like that we don't have "gear" to make, that our looks are purely look-dependant and don't affect our stats or powers.

That said, who doesn't like seeing a purple drop, or a PVP recipe, or one of the harder-to-get recipes? This brings that "ooh, cool!" of a nice drop to crafting.

    Suggestion:
When crafting a standard (non-set) IO - such as Invention: Accuracy, let there be a small (5%?) chance to get a little "something extra" with a crafted IO.

For instance, I craft 25 Accuracy IOs (not unheard of when I'm stocking up for lowbies.) Two of them "proc" on me and give me an "Accuracy plus" IO.

What's the plus? It could be anything. Something similar to a (non-purple) set bonus - another 2% damage, maybe 1-2 mag mez protection, 1% defense of some sort, all small little "plusses." There could even be, as a bit of a circular bonus, a +1% chance to craft "plus IOs," which with regular bonus stacking rules means you *could* end up with an up to 10% chance.

Visually these could be distinguished by a different (gold?) colored metal "ring" around them instead of the standard silver, perhaps, or a "+" overlay in the corner.

The biggest minus that comes to my mind about these? Storage and the market. Sets have set bonuses, for instance, so you know no matter the level X set will always have Y bonuses. Having "plus" IOs that could have multiple bonus types (only one of any type attached) could really make the interface cluttered, both in the market and in storage bins.

The solution for that could just be to limit which bonus can show up on which IO - though that may take some of the "fun" out of it. If the "plus" is guaranteed (say, X% end reduction can show up on an Accuracy) the chance for it to show up would, I'd think, have to be lowered.

This, of course, also means the "greater chance for 'plus' IO crafting" would likely have to be moved off of IOs and into, say, a badge - have ten show up, you get another percent chance, up to fifty (which would bump your chance up 5% total,) in a badge similar to X times the victor.

Not vital, by any means, but that random chance might add a little more fun to churning out those standard IOs for everyone.
  20. Eh...

Given the number of costume codes (and you know they'll be able to use more, just look at the halloween event) make it one per every year or some such.
  21. Quote:
Rename tokens don't sell like hotcakes for the same reason that the name purges don't run more often. The data mining indicated that it wasn't being made useful AT ALL. It's only ever been run TWICE that I know of. They do tell us when they're going to run it, usually along with a reup weekend to allow people who want to keep those names, even if they're not on an active account at the moment, to do so if they really want to.
As a side note, it *has* been quite some time - and yes, they do tell us when it's going to be run (or have, historically.) I actually asked... ok, brain lock, not lighthouse but whatsername who was in at the same time... about it around a year ago and they hadn't been running it, and didn't seem to have any plans to in the near term. Not saying it hasn't been run *since,* but again - we normally hear about it.

Again, though, I wouldn't argue with it being done on a regular basis on trial accounts that don't go live within 60 days or so. *shrug* I don't think it'd have all that much impact, TBH - much like the prior script runs didn't really have much, or so we're told - but at least people wouldn't be so worried about "good names sitting unused" on them.
  22. "A" casual player?

Well, some exist. Hop on for a mission or two, they might know the market exists and toss stuff on there, but they're not going to bother with trends on prices over a week, month, etc. They're quite likely not on the forums. They may or may not be part of a SG. They're playing solely for fun, but not digging into lore, or mechanics, or mathematics behind what's going on. They're there for the movie, they're not trying to learn the director's style and all the actors' roles, motivations, etc.

Of course, you can be partially casual. I, for instance, would consider myself a "casual" PVPer. I go in, I know the zones are there, I screw around and generally don't care if I win or lose. I don't go to farm recipes, I don't min/max builds for top PVP performance, find a PVP SG, go to PVP practices or the like.

Or, alternately, I'm a "casual" base builder. I go in and do so, but don't sit there for hours at a time working on a base. Nothing's stacked, I don't know every (or even most) tricks in the book.

Yet despite being "casual" in several areas, I wouldn't classify myself as a "casual player." Multiple 50s, ton of alts, quite a bit of time in game, familiar with the lore, familiar with much of the dev history and their stands onv arious things, a regular on the forums, I think I'd be safely classified as "not a casual player."
  23. OK. I think I have my mind wrapped around the way you're presenting this, and I can see where the rename/transfer bit is throwing people.

I have my main, Memphis Bill. I *know* the name is taken on a few servers, because I've made alts of him, while it's free on others. I choose this character to be "transcended."

On the four other servers the name's taken on, I have to give him a different name before I play him.

I play Transcended MB (I'm just goign with TMB after this) on Justice. I get a purple recipe drop. That drop is put into the "Transcended MB" inventory. The next day, I log into TMB on Infinity and craft that IO. I realize "Hey, my Defender over on Victory could probably use this more." Victory's slots are full, so I redeem another (vet or prepaid) slot and I can now play TMB there (who needs a rename.) I drop that IO off with an SG mate there, log into the defender on Victory and pick it up.

I end up, basically, with a character on every server, the database entry replicated across them all (EDIT: Noticed the last post, synchronized on logout not realtime) (to prevent me getting that purple and selling it on every server,) with space to hold up to 11 different names, 11 different logout spots - how does it affect Patrol XP? Am I earning it on ten servers while using it on one? Cranking on 11 day job badges at the same time? Can the character level-pact 11 other people? How does that affect his, and their, XP? Is it earned at 1/12 (versus 1/2) the rate? 1/23? What if two people "transcend" and LP their characters, and LP others?

And then there's naming. Say I haven't logged on to TMB on (say) Champion yet. What if someone else comes along a week later and wants to use Memphis Bill there - does the name show as in use, or do *I* have to rename if I finally log TMB on there a week after the new one is started?

Sounds, personally, like it'd be a nightmare to create, use (if anything went wrong,) and maintain. >.<
  24. One of the things I do in some of my SGs is craft common IOs, especially for lowbies. ("At 12? Don't blow your INF on DOs, just snag the 15s in the bins" basically.) I don't do it for the badges - well, other than to get them memorized to make the crafting cheaper. It's just helpful.

The one thing that's a pain about it, though... is the 10 enhancement limit. Make 10, come to a screeching halt, go to bin, dump them in one at a time, go back. There's GOT to be a way to streamline this.

    A few possibilities:

    1. A "Dump all enhancements into bin" button.

This is just on your enhancement (or possibly bin) screen. Move all ten enhancements from your enhancement inventory to the bin. Speeds things up a little, though it can make storage a mess if you've got a mix of them.

    Pros: Fast dumping of enhancements.
    Cons: Still limited to 10.

    2. An "Invention Center" upgrade

This can be made - where else - at the invention table. (Alternately at the workshop tables.) This is an Invention table with storage. (Or even with multiple tiers of storage.) Having storage, of course, means it'd add to rent most likely, and be subject to the 18 storage item limit. So, let's get a few possibilities:

    - Adds storage to the table. Usable in 20, 50, and 100 item varieties. (Three tiers.) Or
    - Links to an existing enhancement bin. This has the pro of not eating up *another* storage slot by adding it - it uses the existing storage. I don't know if the ability to do so is there, though.

    Pros:
Items you craft go immediately in the bin, so you can just keep going.
    Cons:
With some, the storage addition takes a storage slot from the 18 in each base.
Not sure if "linking" would work.
    Unsure:
Upgrading to another tier may mean having to empty out the storage. It'd be nice if you didn't have to, though.

    3. Automation!

No, you still need a player there. But if you have the recipes (or they're memorized,) with the storage mentioned above, you can pick the recipe, pick the level (if multiples are available that share ingredients) and just tell it to "go 'til you can't any more" (or until X are made.) Links to your personal salvage inventory (if you let it.)

This isn't *as* big a deal - heck, we don't have that much storage space - but it may speed up the process. Alternately, allow you to just *make* up to ten at a time (with a slider just like in the auction house) as long as you have the money and materials, with one click.

And, while not related to the process itself -
Let us have more "stuff" to craft. IOs are nice and all, but let us craft temp powers *and store them* (within limits.) Why CAN'T I make revolvers for the supergroup and put them in a case, or broadswords or whatnot? The temp powers themselves aren't overpowering. And yeah, we need more temp power recipes, too.
